Ginny, you're a genius! Seriously I tried to copy and post something here yesterday and it wouldn't work. Those towels aare great. I was going to look up the directions last night but I kept getting sidetracked and never did. I'll do that today.
I'm staying home today because the weather is awful. I don't think the snow is sticking to the roads but it's coming down very thickly so visibility is bad and lots of horrible wind so the way to get to Menard's where I was planning on going today is on the road that goes around town and is pretty much at tyhe base of the mountain so it has high winds which quite often blow large vehicles over and I don't want a semi landing on me.
Meg, I hope you can sit and rest as much as you want today and get in your crocheting and listening to your audio book.
Ginny, sorry that you have to be in a very hot bus. Plus I bet the kids are getting anxious to have school over for the year and are very exuberant right now.
CJ, I hope you can get back soon to work on the long arm to set the process in your mind.
Phyl, I hope you're enjoying your trip.
Yes, we've pretty much decided to go with Walmart too. It seems they and Amazon are having a competition because now Walmart has 2 day shipping now too and you don't have to pay the $110/yr that you have to pay to get it at Amazon. We've checked prices at both places and although one was a little higher at Walmart one day, within hours they had lowered the price. I do like Amazon for the fact that most of the sellers there, if you have a problem with what you ordered, will give you a refund immediately where at Walmart you have to send the item back or take it to a store to get your refund. I just got two refunds from Amazon for products that I didn't like or weren't good quality and they gave the refund and said I didn't have to return the item so one I just threw away, the other was usable but wasn't what I thought it would be so I'm still planning to use it. It was a crafting item and I'll use it to make something to donate since I got it free. There still are some things you can get at Amazon much cheaper like the things that are sent directly from China but that seems to be changing. Then there's all the games on Amazon....items only for Prime members, items that are add ons where you have to buy a certain monetary amount of other things, the subscription items, and the "over $35 for free shipping items.... I hate that part.I do like that they recently gave me a free $40 gift card...Amazon that is.
Well I'm going to go look up that towel. As I said I have a lot of towels and matching or coordinating potholders so could make a bunch of those.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - thanks for sharing the picture those are cute towels. Hope the bus wasn't too hot today. Ruth - I'll take your 30 degree temperature over the 91 degrees it is here right now! Meg - I'm glad you enjoyed watching the movie. I put together the latest block on the Solstice quilt today, the 12 inch version was pretty easy. Here's a link: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/My blocks look like #1 and #9 I might try to get to some hand quilting later. Take care everyone!

OH CJ, I really love blocks !,3 and 9!
Ginny, I went to look at instructions and wonder why I never thought of that! I found a picture tutorial that is really good. I don't care for videos that much but picture tutorials to me are great and this one is included. I definitely am going to try this.Thank you for telling us about these. I hope my edges line up...the edges of the potholder that is.I might quickly hand baste the first one together before I machine sew just to make sure of those edges.
I got my Cross crocheted last night and am now trying to decide if I want to leave it as is so they can just put in inside the Bible to mark the page or if I want to put on the "strings" that will enable them to put the Cross on the front and use the string (crochet chain) as the markers

Our temperature is too hot. That is a number, right? (Ha ha ha). Think we got to 90. Yuck.
I got lucky with the pictures. I searched for dish towels with square pot holder toppers- found a bunch of pictrues and literally held down the cursor over the picture, selected "copy" and then "paste" to get it here. No I did not make those towels, but I have seen those in a craft fair. A very cute and cheap to make idea. Oh dear, I just noticed we are on page 3..... see you there. Ginny

CJ, I think blocks 1 and 9 are the prettiest too- you have great taste! How about you and I go on a road trip to see Ruth and her cold snowy weather?
Ruth,The towel toppers work. Up quickly (or they seem to!)- and are a lovely gift. Hope you like them- and that those you make them for like them also! And I am no genius. Thanks Steve Jobs and the abilities of an IPAD. I know all about the issues between Amazon and Walmart. My Dh is quite adamant about the situation and how he feels that Amazon will ultimately result in many stores closing, so we are making a choice to support Walmart.
my bus has AC, but the back AC does not work well. IT will be weeks before the mechanics are able to fix - its their priority to keep the buses running well and no one needs air conditioning. THankfully tomorrow its supposed to be cooler a little bit.
I am not making sense now, I am tired. BBL GInny

Ginny, yes I'm sure a lot of stores are worried. Most have their own online purchasing option but often they can't compete with some of the deals o Amazon. People just don't go out to shop anymore. I've tried to buy clothing online but that doesn't work for me. I have to try things on. And I hat having to return things by mail. If I'm going to have to go out to mail something back I might as well just go out to begin with and try the items on.It's not really an issue with me though because I have way too many clothes already and I don't care about keeping up with fashion so there's no need.
I hope you get rested Ginny. From what I've seen you say here I've guessed that you get up very early in the morning.

Good morning!
Yes indeed I do get up at 4:30. I slept better last night, but am not a big fan of the heat. I have gotten better at buying clothes online, or buying them without trying them on. For me, I have to read the description really well.
Very little crafting last night. Just too tired. Thankfully, the heat breaks today.
Hi to Phyl (when does she come home?, CJ, Meg and Ruth! Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I hope the bus wasn't too hot today. I buy a lot of clothes online too, because I can't find what I like in the stores. Ruth - I'm glad to hear you finished your crocheting yesterday, what are you going to work on now? Meg - Hope you have a good time at KnitWits today if you are going to that. It's hot here again today but supposed to cool off tomorrow. I can't wait! I was thinking that if I move from here I really need to move somewhere cooler, I just don't like the heat. I'm not planning on doing any crafting today, but might pick up my handquilting later. I don't feel as creative or motivated to make quilts when it's warm, so I'm glad I got a lot done over the Winter. Take care everyone!

Good afternoon! I will be short as I have to drive an extra run- the middle school had a half day but the high school did not. So I am home for a short while, and then go back. I will be home a little bit earlier though. Got a few minutes in embroidering....hope to get more done this weekend. CJ, so where are we moving too? . I dislike hot weather also, so these past few days have also been tough on me. yes you got a lot of crafting done in the cooler months. Do you garden at all? Hope you can pick up your hand quilting later. Agreed. Hope Meg goes to knit wits! Hi to Ruth and Phyl....better get ready to head back to work. Still hot here and I have a spare bus without air conditioning. Yuck Ginny

Well I would trade places with you but I couldn't stand the humidity. It's still cold here today but warmer than they said it would be an warmer than yesterday fr sure. Snow is melting. They said snow today but they must have meant just after midnight.
Ginny, driving a bus with no A/c does not sound good.I don't know how I could deal with going to work, then home for a time then back. I have another friendd that does that also. I never could seem to get anything done when I had to go to work so I'm sure I'd get nothing done if I had time between work sessions.
Only crafting I've done so far is look thru my steel crochet hooks to see what one to try on that one pattern to see if I could use it for smaller beads. It's the bracelet pattern that calls for putting the crochet hook into the bead to draw the yarn thru.
CJ, if I said I got anything done I was lying. I got the actual Cross done but not the weaving in or the chains to mark the pages. It turned out pretty large so that's another reason I was looking at steel hooks to find one that I could use to make the same pattern but smaller. It would look great smaller.
Meg, I do hope you can get to your knitwits also. I know you enjoy being there with those people. Do you have snacks there? At Caps for Kids we always had someone in charge of providing the snack for the month...it was held only once a month...and the senior center provided coffee, tea and iced tea. I haven't been there in a couple years now to the actual meetings. I know one of the leaders died and I wonder how many of the others that were regulars have too. That was the only thing I ever did at the senior center except to look in their really small library to see if there were any books I hadn't read and wanted to read. It's a small room but they do have a lot of books. They have tons of puzzles but I don't do puzzles. THere's also quite a few computers in there. I've also donated books and videos to them.

DD just sent me a msg saying she was out today with the scarf and hat I made her for Christmas and some woman came up to tell her how much she loved them and gave my dd her number in case I wanted to make them to sell to her. That scarf took me forever to make so I doubt the woman would want to pay enough that it would be worth my time.Hat probably wouldn't take me all that long but I just don't know if I want to get into doing that.

Hi everyone. I did go to knit wits today and worked on my b/blanket and I will probably do a few more rows tonight. It was hot today the high was 89 but it will get a lot higher so we had better get used to it. It is a dry heat which is good and we do get breaks when we get an a cool breeze from the Sacramento Delta. I hope you can have a nice cool weekend.
Ginny, sorry you have a few more weeks before school is out. We lived in England before we came here. For the first 2 to 3 years we didn't A/C and I don't know how we survives. Perhaps they will provide A/C in the school buses.
Ruth, I can't believe you are having such terrible weather. It has been hot here but I am sure we will get some more cooler weather. I don't order very much. When we were stationed overseas we did a lot of ordering usually from Montgomery Wards, Sears & Spiegel. Now we don't have Wards and I haven't heard anything about Spiegel for years Sears is not the same since they merged with K Mart. I read recently that Penny's is closing a lot of their stores. I forgot I do order quite a lot from Blair for myself nd DD.
It was nice that someone admired your hat and scarf. People don't realize how much time and the money we spend in our projects.
cj, Hope you are planning great weekend.

Meg, It's so good to see you. I forgot all about Speigel. Years ago I used to order from them a lot and I have ordered from the Penny's catalog too. Yes I heard that Penny's is closing and I agree about Sears. Neither Sears nor Kmart is anygood anymore.K Mart never really was as far as I remember. I haven't been to one in quite some time as there's only one in town and it's way on the other side.
I started a crochet bracelet but then dh came up for dinner. I may get back to it this evening. I really should have tried to finish some of the already started projects today but I didn't.
See you all tomorrow.

Looks like everyone is busy crafting...J/k, probably busy doing weekend things. All that pesky cleaning and shopping that gets in the way of crafting.
I've been looking thru my box of beads, etc and found the lobster fasteners I wanted to find so I'm happy about that. I also have some magnetic ones. I used the cord last evening that I was searching for a few days ago and it doesn't work very well so all that search with little results. I'm sure I can use it for some things but it's hard to work with. I really thought from the looks of it that it would be great
I need to finish dh's hat and scarf because dd wants me to make a set of hat and fingerless gloves in Harry Potter colors so she can show to people and possibly sell. She has a rock and mineral business and could show the knitted and crocheted items too.I don't want dh to feel left out though so I'll do his first.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are doing well today Ginny - I don't garden. I love to look at a pretty garden, but I don't have a green thumb at all. Many of my family members do though, and their yards are beautiful. Ruth - How nice that your daughter got that compliment about the scarf and hat you made for her. Meg - I'm glad you were able to get to KnitWits. Hope your weather is cooler. It's cooler here today, thank goodness! I have all my windows open trying to get the heat that had built up out of the house. I'm not in the mood today to do any crafting today, just one of those days. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.
