Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Oh my gosh…..look at that. Next Monday we are in September. Of course we knew it was coming, but actually putting the name September into our headline is an eye opener. What a shame that saying it will be September next week would not auto magically bring lovely fall weather.
CJ, the quilts are so pretty! Looks like the Oh my Stars quilt went together pretty easily and you did a nice job. I like the contrast of the gold stars with the shell motif fabric. And the western quilts are great- a color scheme I really like. Well done and I hope you can make a table topper from the leftover fabrics as you had mentioned.
Ruth-agree, get those errands done while your weather is still reasonable. Then you can stay in and put your groceries away and get the blanket done. That is pretty reasonable if this particular pattern will take only 10 days to complete.
The landscaper will not be here today….postponed until tomorrow, so I will run some errands today. I am planning on making some candles for Jane’s birthday. She is coming home this week- her birthday was last week. Candle making might be my crafting for the day.
See ya later. ginny

Hello Everyone - Hope you are doing well today and having nice weather It's hot and sunny here. Ginny - I'd like to get automatic autumn weather too Hope your landscaper will come tomorrow and that you can get the candle made for Jane. Ruth - Hope you were able to get all your errands done so you can stay in the rest of the week. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are getting to do some crafting. I finished making the smaller quilt top using some of the same fabrics as in the Seashell quilt and put all the leftover fabrics away. I also wrote out my quilting goals for September, but they are always subject to change. It was nice to only have one weekly quilt along listed, unless I decide to do Pat Sloan's Hometown Charms quilt along that starts next week. I'll probably do it if I can figure out some fabrics. I also did some hand quilting today and finished the center portion of the medallion which was my goal for August, so I'm happy about that. Hopefully I can finish this in the next few months. Take care everyone!

Well we got our errands done but it was a frustrating shopping trip. We shopped at WAlmart and the shelf signs were not the price some of the items rang up at the cashier. They need to get on the ball. I guess too many of their employees are busy shopping for customers and not enough of them to take care of signs and prices. And they got rid of their scanners in the store so you can't check the price any more. And somehow the cashier managed to charge us for 3 of one item when we actually only had two.
At least it's not real hot today. It will be the rest of the week.
CJ it sounds like you got a lot accomplished already today. I need to make out a list of goals for Sept also.
Ginny, I hope you can get the candle done and everything else you have planned for today.
Phyl and Sue, hope you're doing ok also
Now to put things away and then crochet. I have a goal of getting five rows done each day which is more crocheting than it sounds because the rows are long and dense so they are time consuming.

Good evening, Phyl do you know what project you are taking on your retreat? Will you be traveling far for it? Nice progress getting the machine room and cutting table ready for use. Bet that feels great.
CJ- the hometown charms quilt sounds really cool- how long does that QAL go for?
Ruth, Walmart sounds like it was a very aggravating experience for you. Good eyes picking up on being over charged for an item with the wrong quantity.
Got 2 candles made for Jane today and decided to go to BJ’s. The landscaper (who is working on a drainage problem) texted me early to say that he will not be here today, but tomorrow, which is why I went out today. I did get some items out by the street for junk pick up and cleaned up the family room, which needed it badly. Hard to believe that in a few weeks my plants will have to come in for winter.

Ruth - Sorry to hear about the frustrations on your shopping trip. Hope you can get your 5 rows of crocheting done each day. Phyl - Congratulations on getting everything cleaned off so you can sew in both rooms. Hope you enjoy the sew days this week. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get the two candles done, I bet they smell pretty. The Hometown Charms Quilt Along starts on September 7th and runs until November 30th. Here's a link to the project page where she already shows the layout and has a supply list PDF that you can click on. www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2022-hometown-charms-qal-1.htmlI'm not complaining since it's so nice she does these free quilt alongs, but I wish just once she'd have one that uses all yardage. But I know she prefers to use precuts with yardarge added. I'm just feeling like I don't need another sampler top, even though I like her patterns and enjoy posting pictures and seeing pictures on her Facebook page. If I can come up with a theme and find fabrics for it in my stash I might do this quilt along. A Christmas quilt would be nice since it would be done by December. I finished the center medallion hand quilting this afternoon and might start some of the next area out. I'd love to get this mini-wholecloth done so I can start on another old project I'd like to finish hand quilting. Have a good evening

Good morning !!
CJ- Funny that you mention the fabric requirements for the Hometown Charms quilt- I was trying to get here and the Pat Sloane page came up first (I had not closed the browser last night) so I was checking out her fabric suggestions and the collections listed…and wondering if you do that quilt, what fabrics you might use for the quilt top. Checking out the one fabric collection that caught my eye, I noted that the collection I liked at first glance was almost $100. (And upon closer inspection I was not that inspired by that fabric). I am taking a long time saying that I too might be tempted to see what fabrics were in my stash and build from there. Think the idea of a Christmas quilt might be nice for you because of the short time span to make it and it might give you a pretty quilt to decorate your home with. That is wonderful that you finished the center medallion hand quilting. Hand quilting sounds like such a restful project.
Another warm day ahead and already its muggy feeling. We are supposed to get some much needed rain this evening, and cooler temps starting tomorrow. I am looking forward to that. Going to stop in and see Jane today and give her the candles and another small item I got for her birthday. Think the landscaper is supposed to be back today, I will be glad when this project is done as he has left equipment (bull dozer) in my yard along with a lot of tools. I am not complaining, its only been a week and I know he also has other jobs. I figure within 2 weeks the whole project will be done, so complaining would seem silly.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I hope that Jane likes her candles and that your landscaper did come back today. It's still warm here and we are getting the rain now, hope you get some rain and cooler weather. The fabric bundles add up! I've bought them three times now for quilt alongs and haven't been that happy with any of them, so I try to avoid buying them. Once you start cutting up some of that fabric it isn't as pretty as it is in one piece. I am going to pull out my Christmas fabric and see if I can come up with a combination that I like for the next quilt along. This morning I went through some of my small quilt kits that I've had for years. I pulled out two of them to work on (one is just a bear paw block and the other is a small 13 inch quilt). Sadly the rest of them don't interest me much anymore, it's funny how our tastes change. Fortunately there are probably only about 10 that I don't really want to do now but maybe 5 or so that I would like to make. Tomorrow is the Moda Blockheads block so I hope to make that. It's been nice to have this quiet time in my quilting since most of this month was just crazy (or felt that way to me ). Ruth - You mentioned listing your projects like I said I do each month. Here's a link to the page where Pat Sloan has a download PDF available. I use this project sheet each month. Scroll down to see where it's highlighted in PINK "Download Pat Sloan's Completed Projects Sheet". I like seeing all my projects for the month listed to give me an idea of what I need/want to work on. blog.patsloan.com/pats-2017-project-tracking.htmlTake care everyone!

CJ, thank you for the link to the completed projects journal. People have posted similar ones in the crochet group but I don't have a printer so I can't print them out but I do have notebooks that I put all the info in if I don't procrastinate and forget one or more of the items of info that I want to keep track of.
Yes you need to do that patriotic quilt. I love it. It doesn't look too hard but since I never really have quilted I don't know what all is involved that I don't know about. I'm going to watch the video and if I ever get caught up on my crocheting I might have to try it. I'd just use fabric that I have so it might not end up being a patriotic one but I'm sure there are many fabrics that, when put together like that, would be a great quilt.
I only got three rows done on my blanket yesterday. After I got up I got the other two rows of the five done but now I have today's five to do. My time was spent talking to my dd on messenger. We don't talk on the phone since I don't hear well on it. She was able to see a rheumatologist yesterday who seems like a really good and thorough doctor. I'm glad we finally have one of those here. Doctors here are not very thorough and seem very reluctant to order tests or xray and other diagnostic procedures.
Ginny, I hope the landscaping people will do a great job and be finished in a timely manner.

CJ- thanks for posting the link for the free (yes!) fabric cafe quilt. What I love about their quilts is that they take only 3 yards of fabric, so its not the typical super expensive quilt top to make if you have to purchase the fabrics new. Its a really cute pattern- not sure it will be added to my list but that is because I already have a fabric cafe quilt on my list (which I have the fabric for). Like you, I have fabrics that I loved or used to love and my taste has changed. The quilt kits that no longer appeal to you, would you donate them, or make the quilts to be donated? Love the idea of you making a Christmas quilt, and the stores are putting out Christmas fabrics now, so you would have a good selection if you needed tp purchase fabric. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying a less aggressive pace to make quilts. This is supposed to be fun and creative and you make such pretty quilt tops. Enjoy the process.
DD#1 called me (actually texted me) to see if I wanted to go for a hike with her and the grandkids, which we did before it became too warm. Got back from that and noticed I had just enough time to go see Jane - knowing that this will be a quick week of catch up for her. Think she liked the candles. They sure smelled good.
Yes the contractor showed up and made good progress today. Not sure when he will be done, and its raining right now….which might mess up tomorrows progress. Anyway, the project is moving along.
Too much crazy today for me to craft. I did open my PMQ envelopes to see what months I have to complete…and hope to get back to that Thursday.
Have a great night Ginny

Ruth, glad to hear that DD has found a good doctor ! But yes, chatting on messenger is time consuming- much more so than an actual conversation.

HI, oh yeah,to many projects can put us behind in what we really want to work
SHIRLEY warned me on not letting NANCY the lobby person at MCD'S know I was leaning to quilt.after that she was on me for quilts, and other crafting things,., she was genoureous in paying me.like Shriley said you won't have time for your own stuff,so very true.
I DID SPEND SOMETIME IN MY PLAYPEN THIS AFTERNOON, GOT HE TOP TO THE BABY QUILT STRAIGHTENED OUT AND PINNED FOR SEWING THE ROWS TO TOGETHER.PHYL

Ruth, I think you should try to make that quilt, if you are so inspired! yes, of course the red- white and blue color scheme is so pretty. I would be tempted to try a fall color themed quilt, but that is my personal taste and I just finished a patriotic quilt. Fabric cafe quilts are great because of their low fabric requirement and with the you tube it should eliminate any problems that are in the written pattern. Guess I missed reading that you have a goal to crochet 5 rows a day. Hope you can hit that goal today.
CJ- are you experiencing cooler temps now? A cold front came through last night, bringing me much needed rain and more moderate temperatures. Just checked out the weather for my friend in Gaithersburg- looks like the daytime temps are high, but the nights are in the mid to low 60’s. That helps cool down the house. Hey! Its pumpkin spice season! Have you been on the lookout for pumpkin spice cheerios? I think you enjoy that cereal.
Phyl-good to hear that all your effort straightening up your playpen and other crafting areas so that you can work on some quilting.
Sue-how are you doing? Have you been able to make progress on the scarf?
Well, gotta head to the store to get supplies to make grape jelly. The grapes are mostly ripe, and I will pick them tomorrow- well perhaps even later on today. I have already gotten a walk in, which felt good as it was in the lower 60’s. The quilt arrived at my DBIL’s house…he was surprised to get it, which was my intent. It was good to chat with him. Unfortunately he is a bit depressed with concern over the way the political scene in our nation is heading. I hope that perhaps the quilt will help remind him that his service to our great nation is appreciated.
Guess I better get myself organized to get to the store. It gets crowded on Wednesday am, its senior discount day. Ginny
