This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it.

Hello Everyone - Can't believe the year is going by so quickly. I hope this month will be a good one for all of us I've been keeping up with my 100 day challenge to walk each day and today I walked a bit longer than I have been. I hope to keep increasing my time each day. I still need to work on my eating. I was thinking today that I don't really overeat that much, it's just that the things I'm eating are very high calorie, so I'm just taking in so many calories from not that much food. I still hope I can get this turned around. Hope you all are having a good weekend.

O.K., I realized today that I was being a bit delusional with my post above. I do overeat sometimes I'm still walking each day and really need to try to increase the time. Hope you are all doing well

Hope everyone is doing well so far this month. I would love for you to check in and let us know how you are My eating is still not that great but I have been walking every day since I started the challenge - all except for yesterday, when I actually forgot to walk I need to make it a habit, but I guess I haven't yet. Take care!

cj59, You're doing so great on that challenge! Congratulations on all your hard work. Habits are hard to make, but I know you can do it! Good job on identifying your sabotaging thought too! I'm so guilty of forgetting what I eat. Ex: I had a salad for lunch (with pancakes for breakfast, and fast food for dinner, and a slice of cake for dessert, plus snacks). Very typical. So, I had a crazy dream last night. I was skinny, but I was at a gym with a woman who was really big (bigger than I am now, but probably only 50 lbs more and I think this person was actually me on some psychological level) and she was struggling to work out, then someone was interviewing me in the gym about my weight loss success. I said something along the lines of "Once I saw how good I looked my desire to eat went way down." Which I think was along the the lines of 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels'. Waking up was jarring because I was back in my body, and the body in my dream felt like my lowest weight body, so much lighter. I'm not saying I agree with all the sentiments in the dream, and we could psychoanalyze me all day, but it was yet another moment telling me that this status quo will not stand. This morning I (1) found my Fitbit (2) charged dead Fitbit (3) synced with my app that I had to re-login to (4) weighed myself (5) tracked my weight on a chart and calculated my BMI (6) wore my Fitbit (7) exercised (8) tracked my food (9) drank water. Pretty good for my first day. PS I think I had the dream in the first place because I have been doing Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity and I've been creating lists to get everything off my brain, which is supposed to free up your mind for bigger and more creative projects. In a way, it was my mind having enough space to tell me that this is the most important thing I have to work on. And I have to say, I agree. Sorry for the long post but lots going on! I hope everyone is having a beautiful fall!

Hi irisinnia - It's good to hear from you. That was an interesting dream and I'm glad you can figure out what it meant to you. Sounds like the dream motivated you to take some action, so that is a good thing I used to love to wear my Fitbit, but the last one I bought I could never get it to work (sync) - it was very frustrating. Maybe I should buy one of the newer models and start wearing it again to motivate me to walk/move more. sunrose - Hope you are doing well and can check in Hope anyone checking in is doing well and that you are all having a good weekend

cj59, You're right, any step in the right direction is a good one. I think a Fitbit is a great idea. I sometimes get fashion fatigue wearing it, but it definitely motivates me to move more. I didn't exercise yesterday but I exercised today, so falling off the horse isn't a problem if you get back on. I did track and it's scary how much I eat. I'm totally lying to myself about it. Half the problem is the dining out, the second half is excessive/wrong kind of snacks. I made a meal plan for this week and am bringing back some of my snacking staples. Will it work? I don't know, but I'm pushing forward anyway. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi irisinnia - I'm glad you got in some exercise today. I give you credit for tracking, I'm scared to do it right now I hope meal plans help you, good luck I did my walking earlier, but really would like to do some in the afternoon too. I need to push myself to do that. Hope anyone checking in is doing alright and I hope we all have a good week

Hope everyone is doing well and having a good weekend I think I'm getting to the point where I'm doing some soul-searching about my weight problem. It's not going to go away, I'm the only one who can fix it, and if I don't start doing something soon things are going to get a lot worse than they already are I hope admitting these things to myself will help me figure out an eating plan that works for me and also that I can increase my exercise. I know those are the two things that will get me on track to losing weight.

Hi sunrose - Hope you are doing well. I hope that both of us can get motivated again I'm still in a rut, just can't seem to get out of it. And I haven't been making myself walk either I did do better at the store this week and didn't buy a whole lot of junk food, so I guess that's something

Hello! Don't have much to say. In the rut with all of you. I oddly went down 0.4. I stare at the number with confusion every morning in an attempt to find the will to lose weight. This feels existential. Anyway, I hope you all find strength and motivation for the holiday season!

Hi irisinnia - It's good to hear from you. I understand how you are feeling. I'm actually afraid to weigh myself. I know it will make me deeply depressed to see a certain high number I hope that you can find the strength and motivation too. I've already been making Fall/Autumn foods, I can't imagine how Christmas will be if I don't get some kind of control Hope everyone else checking in is doing alright. Have a great weekend!
