I had copied a link to put here then forgot to paste it here. Here it ishttps://daisyfarmcrafts.com/crochet-fun-fringe-beanie/?fbclid=IwAR1JfaCYdBY7cB3wJMdsccDVLyfQRZfMLTF18xBbX_QwOo-ASyKCYIyfOUo. The yarn was in my stash...two skeins of very colorful yarn. I meant to say that not all RH stripes are in these extreme colors. Some are just regular colors but knit or crochet into stripes. A lot of people had problems with this hat pattern mostly in those 5 slip stitches at the top. They are hard to keep track of and to crochet into. The designer of the hat pattern ...well her sister...long story... added a revised pattern that's easier and faster to do.It still looks about the same. You can also make those fringes at the top into culiques which is cute for small children.
Ginny, It's great that you have a list and will be able to get everything crossed off today so that you have a nice quiet day with your dd and gs.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well and your weather is alright. Sounds like you're busy, which is understandable this time of year We had a rainy day yesterday and but it was clearer today, temps have been in the 40s, so not too bad. I finished making the pieces for the 4 Patch Frenzy quilt and figured out the layout for the rows, so now I just need to sew the rows and top together. I'm hoping to get that done tomorrow. Hope you are all enjoying some crafting too. Take care

Ruth, what are your temperatures these days? Sounds like you must be in the throes of winter, even though we are still in fall (but not for much longer). How much snow did you end up getting the other day? Will the snow interfere in your ability to get out if you need to? Thanks for posting the link. That is actually the web site that I went to when I googled fun fringe beanie crochet, the daisy farm craft web page, its sure a cute hat. Indeed its good that you have managed to find an easier way to make the hat.
CJ- good to hear that you have better weather, 40’s are not bad at all. That is great that you have the layout all figured out for the 4 patch frenzy quilt. Were you able to assemble the quilt today, like you had hoped? Its great when a layout can be set one day and worked on the next. It makes it easier in case there are last minute changes.you want to make. I like to walk into see a layout all done, then adjust as desired.
Dd and DGS came over this am. I had a busy morning making her birthday cake (her bday is tomorrow) It was a good visit. Later on I went for a haircut, and brought my 2 GDS’s to get their hair cut. It was a nice time out with them. think I will sit and try to get some work done on the pin cushion. G

Hello Ruth - Thanks for the link, those are cute beanies. Sorry your weather is colder Ginny - Sounds like you had a fun day - cake making and haircuts, it's nice to spend time with family Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. I was able to get the 4 Patch Frenzy quilt top put together this morning. It finished at 61x67. It wasn't a difficult quilt to make but that was a lot of pieces to sew together so I was glad to get it done. I do see places I wish I had laid out differently, but it's really difficult trying to spread out those fabrics from a full fabric line. I need to remember that and quit buying layer cakes I do have another layer cake I'm going to work with next to make a smaller baby size quilt. This one has fabrics from the Little House on the Prairie fabric line that came out several years ago. I must have been really interested in this fabric line because I bought a fat quarter bundle, a jelly roll and a layer! I've used the first two and now I'll be glad to use the layer cake and finish these fabrics. www.quiltingmod.com/2016/09/jolly-bar-book.html - if you scroll down the quilt I'm making is called "Autumn Stars". I'm going to make my stars a light color instead of dark like this one is Hope you all get to do some crafting and enjoy the rest of the weekend

CJ, I like the Autumn Stars quilt. The one below is I don't really care for at all. And congratulations on getting the quilt top done today. You get those done so fast. It would probably take me months to do all that cutting piecing, planning, sewing, etc just for one top.
Ginny, happy birthday to your dd. I hope she has a great one. When you had her you should have waited a few days and had her one your birthday. Of course going thru labor would not be a fun thing on your birthday but the little gift you get is the best ever.
Well I'm still working on hats. I don't think I've made anything else this month except hats.I didn't keep track like I had planned but I did make a lot of them and still have a few more I want to do. I started two today after finishing the one I started late yesterday.
We're going to have a few slightly warmer days for three days then it all goes bonkers. Wed night depending on what weather service you look at it will be anywhere between -21 and -33. That doesn't count the wind chill. Usually when it's that cold here it's not windy for a change but the forecast says "blustery" which doesn't sound good to me at all. There will be several nights of pipe watching in there. Thurs night it will get down to "only" -12 or so.Thurs was the day dh was to have his dr app't with the high for the day, again depending on who's forecasting, -5 to -9. I'm glad I rescheduled him.
ok,it's 2am so off to bed I go. Dh is on pipe watching patrol although it's not very cold, it's just very windy. See you later

Good Morning!! Ruth, that is awful, although I figure its something you are used to- what I mean is pipe watching patrol. (We had frozen pipes in one section of the house many years ago during a super cold stretch, and frozen pipes are awful). From what you said, you are in for some really cold nights and days. And after years of living in your house you know the areas that are suspect/more problematic for pipe freezing. Hats sure are useful this time of year!!! Some of yours are gifts…some to donate. There must be something restful about making hats for you. You do take on so many different projects (like Yoda, sharks, other toys) that having a project not quite as complicated might feel a bit easier, and a project to relax with. But i am not saying that hats are easy! At least there are no arms or heads to attach.
CJ- I checked out the little house fabric ( I do remember seeing it several years ago). Its so pretty, and is pretty much what I would have expected based upon the name. The Autumn Stars quilt is lovely, and will look great in that fabric line. I completely agree with you on making the stars in lighter colored fabrics. Not so sure I like the dark points that are on the picture. It does not seem like a complicated quilt to do- hope you have fun making it.
My editor is here (large black cat who likes to sit on my keyboard).
Last night I sat down to work on the pin cushion and realized that I have done a decent job of getting little bits of it done here and there. I will get the lambs face done today and then start the actual assembly of the pin cushion- making the center pouch for the walnut shells (which will be the “stuffing” in the center) and attaching the back. The woman who sold me the supplies (in NC sold me some off white fabric too, not sure what she sold that to me for, whether it was to make the pouch or to serve as the backing. I will figure that out today. Glad that I am getting close to the end of this project. I am looking forward to some machine time.
got church this am, and I am unsure regarding what I am walking in to. The leader of the praise and worship team (which I am now accompanying on the flute) reacted to a shingles vaccine (common reaction, she will be fine in a day or so). Think they asked a pianist from the first service to play - so I might accompany her I practiced a whole lot of music last night too not knowing what I am walking in to. For those who really love praise and worship music they will be in for a rude shock this am, having to sing the more staid hymns. But its a great time of year to sing hymns, all of what Pastor had selected for the day are classic Christmas songs, and honestly the songs we were supposed to sing are jazzed up hymns anyway.

Just a stupid rumination….forgot to put this in before. DD#2 was actually a little bit late, think her due date was Dec 12. But her delivery was complicated (the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and she might have inhaled meconium) so they literally whisked her off to a large hospital with a neonatal unit in an abundance of precaution. She was released on my birthday….so in essence was a birthday present that year. (And all their precaution was simply that- an 8 lb 12 oz baby in a neonatal unit sure looked odd)

Ginny,I remember now that you mentioned that problem with your dd's birth. It was truly a gift and a blessing that you were able to take her home on your birthday.
It sounds like your pincushion is a complicated pattern.I'm sure your friend will love it so it will be worth the work.
I definitely need an intervention. Joann's had some yarns of sale for 75% off (I checked other sties to make sure that was true) so of course I had to get some. I think that I'm at the point now that if I use up a skein a day I still won't be able to use it all up before my life is done.I'd better get busy.
Yes hats are normally very relaxing to make and are a fast project so you quickly get to see the finished product which is something I really like about them.
CJ,what are you making today. I hope you're enjoying whatever you're making

Ruth, does yarn go bad? Property stored, synthetic yarn does not or at least in the time frame you would be keeping it at. You love to make and are gifted at making hats, afghans ,mittens, gloves and many other items for your loved ones- things you will be remembered for for many many years. So are you hurting someone (or yourself) by buying more yarn. Does not sound like that. You have no expensive vices, like smoking or drinking and crocheting makes you happy. So as long as Dh and you are ok with the additional expense of buying more yarn, it sure does not sound like a bad thing. And honestly, both CJ and I probably have too much fabric (I know I do!) Our hobbies keep us out of trouble and happy. Hope you picked out some yarn in wonderful colors and got a great deal.
Worked on the pin cushion again today. DD stopped over so I did not get much done but I also found out that my babysitting schedule is an easy one this week so I have time to get the pin cushion finished. That is good. I had some internet issues….called the cable company who provides my internet service. After an hour on the phone with them (40 minutes on hold) the man told me he fixed the problem> the problem came back within an hour. So I tried calling again and they offerred me the ability to text with an agent. I tried that hoping I would not be on hold for 40 minutes. Well that worked, but I must say was the first thing I texted to the agent was “ I need a new gateway box/ router”. Of course they ask a million stupid questions, try all kinds of stuff from their end that does no good and prevents me from seeing the football game I wanted to see. After a half hour of texting them the agent declares “ you need a new gateway box”. Hm….. so the service man is coming Tuesday all that work for them to tell me what I knew already. I hope he comes Tuesday prepared to fix the problem.
CJ- hope you had a great day working on your latest project.
And tomorrow is Monday- yikes!!! See ya tomorrow. G
