Hello MY Friends. It looks like you both got a lot accomplished as far as quilting goes. I'm glad you both are so adept at making quilts that you can take a pattern that is not completely correct and get the quilt done anyway.
I did go over to dd's house today and she was very happy to see me. She loves the shawl I made for her and kept it around her shoulders the whole time.We had a very nice visit. I had to stop for 2 errands on the way home one of which was to pick up my eyedrops which I've been trying to get since March 1st. After making many phone calls I finally was able to go and pick it up.Now I'm ready to sit and crochet. I checked my stash to make sure that I have enough of this yarn to finish the gingham blanket because Mary Maxim is having a sale. I do have enough though. I made myself stay away from Hobby Lobby even though I was near there. They're having a clearance. I don't actually know if my local store is having one or not but for some reason everyone in the FB crochet groups feels the need to post pictures of their "yarn haul".Others have said their store is not having the clearance. Sure I'd love to get great yarn for their clearance price but I really do have too much yarn now. Ok I just mentioned that to dh and he asked why I didn't stop there. Now I wish I had even though I do have all that yarn. HL really does have great clearance sales.

Ruth, so glad to hear that DD loved the shawl and that you were able to visit with her! Because the shawl is lacey it can be used year round. I hope she is feeling better and was encouraged by your time with her. You should have gone into HL. Ha ha ha Yes they can have some great sales and all in all (at least the one here which is the only HL I have been in) is a lovely store. That is good news though that you have enough yarn to complete the gingham afghan. Its going to be so pretty.

I didn't realize snow was predicted for here overnight but woke to a lot of snow on my little deck and in the bushes. It seems to be melting though and I don't see any on the roads.
The color yarn I checked on is the light teal which is the one used on every row of this blanket. I forgot to check on white. I have a lot of white yarn but not sure I have more in this particular yarn and as you know whites can be a lot different both between brands and even within brands. I may have enough on this current skein if I make this more of a baby size so I might do that.I hope you both are having a good day and that there is no bad weather to contend with.

Good morning!! Ruth, did the snow melt? Sometimes we do get these rogue storms do show up- for some reason (and that is because I am not a weather expert!!) your area seems to be a bit more unpredictable for weather- changes seem to occur more quickly. I do hope that that you have enough of the white yarn. When I made my last ripple afghan I ended up with two different colors of white yarn, which really is not noticeable because the rows are separated by two other rows of colors. Is the MM sale still ongoing??
Worked yesterday- then finally got to the store. I needed some supplies for dinner as today is Ds’s birthday. Not even sure if he will be home for dinner this evening in case he goes out with his friends, who are notoriously unreliable. I am working again this am, and am already looking forward to just getting home.
CJ- hope you had a good day.

Hello - Happy St. Patrick's Day! Hope you are doing well today and the weather is nice. We had nice day yesterday and today is not cold, but we're getting some rain. Ruth - I'm happy to hear that you had a good visit with your DD and that she loved the shawl you made her I'm glad your snow is melting. Hope the yarns work out for your afghan/blanket. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get to the store. Hope the snow melts for you too soon. Hope you get to spend some time with you DS today for his birthday. I was able to get all the fabrics ready and cut yesterday for the two weekly Pat Sloan blocks and I made them this morning. The coral/floral/gray/white one was challenging and not my best effort but it's done I also pieced together a small quilt using some of the leftover paisley, red, and red/white fabric from the houses quilt. The fabrics in these quilts is so much prettier and vibrant in person. I'm also showing a picture of the Harrisonburg blocks I did and made into a table runner. The pattern for the basket blocks is out now, so I have three of those blocks to make, hopefully I can get them done this weekend. Take care and have a great weekend!

I hope you both had a good day. CJ I love the table runner and I do think that the one you said isn't your best work is also beautiful and just want to say that no matter that you say it's not your best, it is fantastic work.
Ginny, happy birthday to your dear son. Yes today, being St Pat's day and a Friday, that there will be a lot of people out so I hope your son has a good time if he goes and that he stays safe among the revelars.
I haven't done much today except to crochet and took care of a little business online. I really need to get busy on my early spring cleaning. Oh and the other thing I did today was help dh dig through a huge snow pile put there by the plowing company, to get to our water shutoff. We don't like it covered in the even that we need to have the water shut off for some reason.Despite our shoveling, however, we never did find the lid that gives access to the actual workings that turn it off and on so I'm going to have to resort to calling the water company and have them come out and at least show us where to dig or hopefully they will do the digging.

Happy Saturday!!!
CJ- yeah it sure looks like you posted, great pictures of your beautiful quilt blocks. LOVE the house block- that one kind of falls right into my personal taste- I love house blocks and paisley fabrics. Very pretty. And yes the colors of our work does not come through perfectly over the internet. The table runner is really pretty, well all the blocks are. Hope you can get the basket blocks done!!
Ruth, hope you had a good day. How is Dd feeling? Have you heard from her since your visit the other day?
Survived St Patricks day. Think the worst part of it was the idiots (aka drunks) who were walking around my town which I had to drive through when returning home from practice at church last night. Stupid idiots (there is one irish tavern/restaurant in town and another bar down the street on the other side). Why it is important for them to walk in the middle of the road and cross how and whenever they want is beyond me. Believe me I was driving slowly, well under the posted 30 mph- but just find it absurd that there is this one day a year that is used as a cheap excuse to get drunk and act stupid. Thanks for enduring my rant.
Yesterday was a busy day- and at the last minute - well sort of, I made dinner for Ds. (The traditional corned beef/cabbage and Irish soda bread). I was unsure what his plans were and if his plan to go out to celebrate his bday with his friends would materialize. Thankfully it worked out for him and he did see his friends and get home safe afterward. Sometimes his friends are unreliable.
I have some music to work on today for tomorrow (does that count as crafting?) and do hope to get back to working on the fabric cafe quilt.

Ruth, there you are!!! What a mess that must be, having to try to dig to access your water shut off. Wonder if you could get one of those reflectors on a stick to put by the water shut off. And I sure do hope that the water company will help you locate where the valve is. Hope that you got to some crocheting done. Business online can be time consuming and also frustrating.

Ginny, you do seem to have a lot of very busy days.I'm glad your ds had dinner with you and then was still able to go out with friends and arrived home safely. Yes it's mystifying why people feel the need to get drunk or otherwise altered on any day but even more so on certain "special" days. And to walk in the street,,well that's just insane! I'm glad you got home safely without any of them walking into your car.And yes, crafting is artistic and so is music so therefore music must be crafting I had a busy day today cooking and doing a little cleaning. We'll have food for several days and, as I mentioned previously, my dh really likes having things made in advance. I've known people who wouldn't dream of eating what they consider leftovers. And,of course, I like it because then I don't have to cook on some days except maybe if he wants a grilled cheese sandwich or something like that for lunch. That's rare though. CJ, I bet you've been busy making beautiful blocks or quilt tops. I hope you had an enjoyable day.

Ruth- leftovers are wonderful and I am so happy for you that you will have food for several days without extensive cooking. My Dad was sort of like your Dh- he liked having a good meal again the next day or even the day after that. My Dh was not that way, I had to space the leftovers out by a day or find some other way to serve them (which was a BIG pain).
My town is pretty small, so those celebrating on Friday night were not walking on a busy road. It just seemed absurd that they would act that way, however.
Yesterday I pinned the rows of the quilt together, making sure the seams are headed in the right direction. Hope to find something nice to listen to as I sit down to sew them together shortly.
CJ- hope you are having a good weekend. G

I can't believe that tomorrow is Monday again already. I have a few phone calls to make which is always stressful for me.
Ginny, I'm glad to hear that you had a chance to pin all your blocks together. It will be a full fledged quilt soon.
I set aside my gingham for a few days because dd mentioned that she would like ponytail hats or messy bun..they are called many names. I thought that I had made some and probably there were a couple in the large bag of hats I took over there this past Monday. but if so she and her two daughters that went to her house last Tues didn't notice. It will give me an excuse to drop in again. I found a very nice pattern for making one with the star stitch in it which is a really fun stitch and I love making things with it. .
Have a good day everyone and I'll drop in later.

Hello - Hope everyone is well and having nice weather. It's a cold and sunny day here and a bit windy. I think this might be the last cold day for this winter. Ginny - Hope you are able to get your quilt top pinned and sewn together. Ruth - Hope you enjoy making the ponytail hats and it's nice that will give you a reason to go over to your DD's house again. Maybe this time you can stop by Hobby Lobby I worked some yesterday on the BQ2 floral quilt and finished the top today, so it's my 2023 National Quilting Day quilt. That is a really quick pattern to put together since the blocks are so large (18 inches). The quilt top finishes at 54x72. I have enough of the floral fabric to use for the backing and I thought the light blue (it's a powerdy blue color in person) for the binding. I do have enough fabric that I could add a small inner blue border and a larger outer floral pattern, but I think this quilt might be big enough. Take care

Ruth, I am glad you are able to make some more items for your Dd…and gives you another excuse to stop in to see her to check up on her. I will pray that she is doing well… have fun making the messy bun ties/hats.
CJ- wow what a pretty and colorful quilt! I remember you just ordered the large floral. Glad you have enough fabric to use for the backing and the border also! Yay!
Sorry to be so brief….got stuck on the phone with my friend in Florida who is struggling a bit…she is improving somewhat. Glad to hear that.
Yes got the entire quilt top sewn, now onto the border and corner stones….I also spent some time looking for quilt panels for the baby quilts. No decision made yet, but I hope to have that figured out soon.
See ya tomorrow. G
