pbnj Cole slaw in your chili? Really? cabbage? I'm from Texas and I'm not sure about this. Although, I now serve slaw with my fish tacos and we love that combo. May have to try it! Yup! Cole slaw mix! Adds filler and bulk (probably gas, too!!)

Beef burgundy 2 lbs stew meat 1 can light cream of mushroom soup 1/2 cup of hearty red wine 1 pkg Lipton onion soup 8 oz whole mushrooms Mix all. Cook 6 to 8 hours. Serve over noodles
This is the very first crockpot recipe that I ever made, 43 years ago
I also keep a container in the freezer and throw left overs in it, then put it in the crockpot with veggies, tomatoes and bouillon. Makes a great soup

That was my original thought, too, Linda, but I'll go for it...like you, I adore fish tacos, and I started adding cabbage in my veg soup and like it.

I definitely have a couple and will check back later to post....lovelovelove to use my multi-cooker for slow-cooking. And I also want to know pbnj about the Rotel! For people that use white/Northern beans, do you recommend a brand/type? I hate mushy beans. I just use the dry store-brand white northern beans. Oh, they turn out so creamy and buttery - I LOVE them. I have a quart in the freezer - white northern beans and ham hocks. Yum! Gosh Christi, I have to cook them as well, while I figure out if I like them or not??? You ask alot! 😉

ksbruns America's Test Kitchen tested beans and decided that canned beans were as good as, and in some cases, better than cooking beans from scratch. Their #1 choice for a white bean is Goya Cannellini beans. They cost a little more but boy, are they good. I use them anytime I want a white bean. They are a little larger than great northerns but have a creamy texture that we love.

pbnj Yes, that show convinced me that canned beans were often superior to cooking them myself. Sure saves some time too!

Thank you, Linda...*whew* I'm thinking I should bring in the New Year by cooking something this weekend....maybe one of these chilis, now that I don't have to cook the beans, LOL. It would surely be bad juju for the new kitchen for my first effort to be a flop!

Slow Cooker Spicy Black Eyed Peas I've been making this recipe every New Years Eve for the last seven years - to eat on New Years Day for wealth and prosperity. It's so good and I've shared the recipe several times over due to popular demand. I hope you all try it. allrecipes.com/recipe/142892/slow-cooker-spicy-black-eyed-peas/This looks so good that I set up an AllRecipes account and started saving to it! Thank you
