Nice to see you back Lin to liven things up around here. Yeah, I blew it last week and ate some extra stuff (actually cheese sticks and bread sticks I wanted to use up) but I'm back on track this week. My gf said the same thing - only more harshly.
Hey, did anybody watch the missile interception test today? Wow, that was something else and hopefully will give the North Koreans something to think about.

Just had to share this gem. I don't have the "green thing" either but I reuse every plastic bag I bring home that is not torn or has a hole in it. I use them for trash can liners and for cleaning the cat litter box. In fact since I have been on Nutrisystem I don't get enough plastic bags so I took some out of the recycling bin instead of buying plastic trash can liners. And I recycle most of the boxes and containers I get from Nutrisystem, Amazon, and other online orders and in store purchases. I also reuse water bottles and juice bottles, but I don't have the "green thing"!
by Debbie Donnivan February 5, 2016:
Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the much older lady that she should bring her own grocery bags, because plastic bags are not good for the environment.
The woman apologized to the young girl and explained, "We didn't have this 'green thing' back in my earlier days."
The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations."
The older lady said that she was right -- our generation didn't have the "green thing" in its day. The older lady went on to explain:
Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled. But we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day.
Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags that we reused for numerous things. Most memorable besides household garbage bags was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our school books. This was to ensure that public property (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags. But, too bad we didn't do the "green thing" back then.
We walked up stairs because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didn't have the "green thing" in our day.
Back then we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts. Wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.
But that young lady is right; we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day.
Back then we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.
But she's right; we didn't have the "green thing" back then.
We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blade in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
But we didn't have the "green thing" back then.
Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service in the family's $45,000 SUV or van, which cost what a whole house did before the"green thing." We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint.
But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the "green thing" back then?
Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smart ass young person.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to piss us off... Especially from a tattooed, multiple pierced smartass who can't make change without the cash register telling them how much.

Hi all,
I am going to comment on the Kathy Griffen thing, I am sure she was never expecting the fall out that she got. I say about time. On another board I am on the liberals were totally against her. It made me hope for a moment that they have had it with all the hate also. Then remembered who I was thinking about, but is nice that there is a limit.
Gary, I use the plastic bags like you do, for things around the house. I am not a big recycler but do some. Here we have two trash bins one trash, and one recycle. This summer they are adding a yard waste one. I can deal with that. Only bad thing is moving all the cans out. Guess I can think exercise.
Have a good weekend. Eleanor

Good to see everyone.
Hasn't it been a glorious couple of days. It is just so entertaining to watch when a liberal vomits all over the place and the wind blows it right back in their face. It is happening more and more.

I think the only reason many liberals are against KG is they want to be able to be outraged by every little thing a republican does and KG bless her ignorant little heart just ruined that for them.

The backlash is amazing. The libs think everyone hates Trump the way they do. Her supporters are few and far between, Jim Carey and Alec Baldwin, two just like her, full of hate and venom. The press conference, she and her attorney really made asses of themselves.

I honestly tried to watch the news thing. I had to turn my eyes away in embarrassment for her, even though I can't stand her, and never could.

Ok, I peeked at the opposition thread. The question was asked how any woman could vote for Trump. How could any self respecting woman vote for Hillary who turned a blind eye to Bill's affairs, especially with a young intern in the Oval Office? She even had to watch him ogle Melania at the inaugaration. Trump said something nasty, Slick Willy was impeached for lying about that cigar. And the blue dress. Hillary stuck with him for one reason, power. Kathy Griffin and her ilk are the voices of the libs.

Yeah, I laugh at the "how can anyone vote for DT" comments. Look at your own candidate, for many people that is how. Good Lord they have no self awareness whatsoever.
Most republicans vote for the republican for the very same reason most dems vote for the democrat, it is the best choice out of two. Why do they think that folks should have voted for their horrid candidate over our horrid candidate. At least there was a chance of something better with DT. We knew what HC would have done.
Please note, I no longer think DT is horrid, he is doing way better than I thought he would. But in the voting booth I had two choices and Hillary was never going to get my vote. The two minor candidates were not an option, they were both bat merde crazy.
Viewing DT now, I think he is a very awkward non political person who honestly wants to make us stronger. I hope we don't give up on him or the republicans. The alternative is the Dems, and we know who they are now.

Politics doesn't rule my life, I would hate to be so full of venom and bitterness that the libs seem to be experiencing. If they would use the energy they are wasting on hating Trump and the Republicans to good use, they may accomplish something with their lives. Instead, they think up names to call Trump and count how many times he plays golf. They could have been making a meal for a Ronald McDonald house for parents of children with devastating diseases. They could have gone to a VA hospital and volunteered. They could have driven a cancer patient to chemo. Lip service, lib service. All talk and hate and no action.

I see on the internet that Hillary is thinking of running again. I don't care how many times she runs I will never vote for her. I have been watching the antics of the Clintons for years and there is nothing that has ever attracted me to them. At the last election we had 2 people we could vote for and I choose Trump. He is not a politician and we are tired of politicians so we should at least give him a chance. Everything he does or says is pulled apart by the liberals and the news media who are also Liberals. Yet he seems to work endless hours and he has accomplished some good. But we never hear about that. He wasn't my first choice for President but he was elected and I will support him. He appears to have the best of interests of the country at heart. From what I have observed of the Clintons I think they only have their own interests at heart.
Good night and sleep well.

I too can't imagine letting the venom and hatred of the political world rule my life. I'll bet most of the hate-filled liberals never darken the doors of a church on Sunday, or if they do it's in one ear and out the other as soon as they leave the church building. I have a good life. I listen to Fox News for almost all the news; I don't trust any other source as much. I know anything Donald Trump says or does as President will be vilified by the liberal politicians and liberal media even if it's good for the country. I have plenty to do as a homeowner to keep my house clean and somewhat organized. I don't have time for the hatred and venom of the left and the extreme right; besides it raises my blood pressure.
By the way, I lost another 4 pounds this week on Nutrisystem for a total 21.5 pounds over 5 weeks on program! That is better than I ever did on Weight Watchers. The only thing I am a bit concerned about is when I reach goal weight and start cooking my own meals again whether I can keep it off.
