lani, My husband told me last night there were tweets from right-wingers thanking CNN for re-electing DT. I read an article this morning about five take-aways from the town hall and it was chilling to read. He really is mad.

From a Daily Beast article:
On Wednesday night, CNN’s Oliver Darcy opened his Reliable Sources newsletter in a tone diametrically opposed to the line taken by Licht. “It’s hard to see how America was served by the spectacle of lies that aired on CNN Wednesday evening,” Darcy wrote. He went on to call the performance “Trump’s unhinged social media feed brought to life on stage” and said Collins had been “put in an uncomfortable position, given the town hall was conducted in front of a Republican audience that applauded Trump, giving a sense of unintended endorsement to his shameful antics.”
As liberal critics lambasted the town hall, Trump and his supporters were delighted. After the broadcast, Trump used his actual unhinged Truth Social feed to thank the “AMAZING” audience who attended, while MAGA figures including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) lavished Trump with praise and shared clips of his performance.

I watched clips of that town hall and was shocked at CNN for doing this. It seemed like something that would be on Fox News. They basically gave him a comedy hour and let him go up there and say stupid things the whole time. I read a comment on social media that said the new CNN CEO is a Republican but I don't see anything reputable that supports that. However, he has made it clear he wants to turn the network more towards straight up reporting rather than any left leaning opinions, so people are criticizing him for trying to turn it into a more centrist leaning platform. Maybe he's a Manchin type.

If and when Biden does a town hall with CNN, will only Democrats be in the audience?

CNN is getting more and more like FOX. Sucking up to trump. It's disturbing how many voters cheer on a richy rich man baby and chose him over a seasoned politician to represent them.
I guess this is who the Republican Party is now. They can identify with trump. He's one of them. Garbage in, garbage out.
Scary stuff. Oh well, you get what you vote for.
It has been said you can't fix stupid. When he destroys the country somehow his loyal followers will pin the blame on Democrats.

Still so disgusted that people in that joke of a town hall were laughing at his mockery of the sexual assault he was literally just deemed guilty of the day before. Even women in that audience were laughing. Bet you wouldn't be laughing if some random was grabbing you by the P word! So why is it funny to hear of it happening to someone else who was brave enough to come out publicly and say that has happened to her? That BS is embarrassing when it happens to you, you feel too ashamed to tell anyone because you victim blame yourself for not being stronger to have avoided it even though it's not even any % your fault.
Fox News was on at the gym again (everyday it's on, so someone there loves their Faux News), and some fool was being interviewed on there (as a panel expert of some type, meaning, no qualifications whatsoever, like a dodge city badge or a print-at-home certificate) and he was saying that although he agrees with the democrats' opposition to raise the voting age to 25 like the repubs are proposing, that really to get at the core of the problem, we really need to stop with the woke indoctrination of our children in schools. How in the world do these people expect to be taken seriously?
Which actually reminds me of a story. So my kids are actually in a school (public at that!) that teaches quite a bit of subject matter on racial injustice and various themes of racism throughout many forums, including film and literature, daily life, pop culture, etc (and this is a mostly all white school in Agoura Hills, CA). And one of my kids has just finished reading a book assigned for Language Arts class that was fiction, but inspired by true stories of police brutality weighted unfairly more towards Black people. And after the George Floyd murder and subsequent conviction, no one can ever look shocked and say "WHAT?? NO THERE IS NOT ANY POLICE BRUTALITY!" Anyway, the book was about a 12 year old boy shot and killed by a police officer for playing outside with a plastic toy gun (like Tamir Rice) and his ghost witnesses the aftermath of his death. The topic is heartbreaking but I think it's important for the kids this age to be exposed to how things unfortunately are and hopefully this helps our future get better simply by virtue of their awareness. When the class was nearly finished with the book, the teacher told the class she received an email from a parent that said they don't agree with her assigning such a book to the class because it makes white people feel bad. The teacher asked the class if anyone wanted to discuss it from that angle and if they were having any issues with it. Majority consensus was that there were no issues.
Sorry for the rant but I did think it was amusing! And a little eye rolly.

I didn't read a rant. I read a post from a concerned parent/adult. Hiding the truth from children just because it might make them feel bad is a bad idea.
We are telling them, teaching them things to protect them and make them aware not every adult or stranger is a good person. The truth is there are bad people out there. Very bad people.
When I was a child, a very long time ago, I was told not to talk to strangers, not to get in a strangers car, not to take anything, even candy, from a stranger. Walk to school with other children instead of by yourself, etc.
We are teaching them to be cautious, safe, sound, and smart. That's a good thing. A very good thing.
We are not teaching them to be rude. We are teaching them to be safe, to be aware not every grownup is to be trusted, especially strangers.
That's a rant! Lol.
Fin, some women can be clueless, dumb, simple, and crass too. If they weren't they would not be cheering on a man who thinks so little of them. Especially if they're not his type. Blonde, young, and beautiful.
He is such a waste of flesh. IMHO of course.

Funny how he has a type but is he physically anybody’s type? He thinks so highly of himself and I don’t know why.

I'm starting to think "woke" isn't an insult. It means "opened your eyes" to something. Maybe we need to change the rhetoric and throw it back in the faces of the racist, history white-washing, misogynists that use it as an insult. DeSantis signs bill requiring AAPI history in Florida schoolsI guess since he's insulted all the people of color, he's trying to get votes from doing this.

DotRen, if you're not woke, aren't you asleep? My understanding is the term originated years ago in the Black community and referred to being aware of the dangers one faces every day just by being Black. Then it got into general usage and became a rallying cry for the right against the left.
