We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Well, it looks like things will really be heating up next week with testimony on Wednesday & well as Thursday. I wonder if JA will pull the plug on Comeys testimony. He's kind of caught between a rock & a hard place, isn't he. LOL...I suppose it depends on what Bannon tells him to do.

"As for Kathy Griffin and her lawyer trying to say that the backlash against her despicable photo is because she's a woman"
Joyce, they are talking about "the backlash" and not the photo. I'd have to agree with them on that point. Look, we all know there is a double standard for women. Especially when it comes to nasty women.
The JA sitting in the Oval Office is a perfect example. I can't even count how many times I ask myself how people, especially female people, can be okay with a man that bragged and joked about sexually assaulting women have that position? How can that be? Why is that okay? Is it because, "boys will be boys" and we shouldn't expect anything more?
I'm also wondering how come there wasn't a huge backlash against ted nugent? I will never forget that picture of President Obama with a bloody knife hanging out of his throat! Or, the comments nugent made about chopping off heads, or the disgusting and violent sexual comments about Hillary. I won't post them but you can Google them if you don't remember. How is this man treated? He gets an invite for a play date in the People's House! And, it happens to be right under a picture of former First Lady Hillary Clinton. How cute it that?
Maybe it's me but I don't see much of a backlash going on with him. He still has a job.
What's good for the gander is bad for the goose. This woman's goose is cooked for sure and he's still proudly strutting around out there posing for pictures with the JA. I'm not condoning violence. I don't like movies or TV shows with blood and gore or even war stories. I don't even kill bugs!!
I'm simply observing the difference in our outrage. KWIM?

Do their followers really not get how bad it is now? Tell me they can't be that thick?
Boy, no nuts for those blind squirrels! Not even a glimmer of light and hope.

Ted Nugent, Bannon, Trump.....all their heroes. Bannon looks like his evil is rotting him from the inside out.....rotting pile of flesh.
A guy friend of ours will read something and shake his head wondering how any self respecting woman could have voted for Trump.
I have no answer for him. Bush we got, he rode in on daddy's coat tails.......how bad can he be? We found out!

I don't think there were many true votes for the Jack Azz, but rather votes against Hillary. These deplorables, don't have a thing to say about JA now, it's just Lib Bash & this time it was Kathy Griffin who gave them an excuse to to it again. I remember all the ugly rhetoric against President Obama & his family & most that are acting so high & mighty now because of KG were laughing & participating in deplorable racist rants against President Obama & his family back then. Among other great things us Libs have going for us, no one can blame us when the Sh't finally hits the fan & blows back on all those that put that mark by JA name in the voting booth. Wasn't us Libs that voted for him...it's all on them!

Good morning! Spent time with DD and DGKs yesterday, and that was wonderful! So much better than the news and the awful abomination in the WH. As for the KG thing, I still have no sympathy for her whatsoever. She brought this totally on herself. I do agree that it was no worse than the horrible things from Ted Nugent and many others about President Obama and Hillary Clinton. I agree that many hate filled people on the right said and did much worse things about President Obama. But, two wrongs never make a right so what KG did was completely wrong, and for me there is no excusing it. The only hope, IMHO, we have of ever getting back to a civil conversation between those with different viewpoints in this country is if people on both sides of an issue stand up and say "No! We will not tolerate any more ugly hate filled rhetoric, pictures, signs, etc. Enough is enough!" When we accept it even just once and even half heartedly, we are giving it legitimacy, and that I just can't do. KG did a despicable thing. So did Ted Nugent, and so have many others. More so, I do have to admit, on the right than on the left, but both sides just need to STOP! (OK, rant over for the day!) And there is a big difference between political humor and satire which I am all for, and actual calls for or pictures of violence. As for what happened in London last night, it is just sickening. The people of London will be even stronger, however. They've lived through and overcome much worse. Too bad that the line of defense for us here in this country begins with the cowardly bully sitting in the Oval Office. May not be around much next week, as DH and I are getting away for a few days. Yay for us!!! Really looking forward to some time to just relax, decompress, and do whatever we want to on the spur of the moment. We will have our laptop with us, but usually DH hits that as quickly as we return to the hotel. That's ok. I'm looking forward to some quality time with my Kindle while he's doing that. Will try to check in, but if I don't make it I will be thinking of you all.

Joyce, I never said what Kathy Griffin did was right. I'm sorry if that's what you got from my post. My disagreement is with the backlash she's getting as opposed to the, "wink, wink boys will be boys" free pass guys sometimes seem to get for doing the exact same things.
Sometimes the radical Feminist in me leaps out before I can contain her. She's tucked away again so all is well.
I hope you have a relaxing, calm, and fun weekend because you deserve it, Sistah!

News And Guts......... For the 2nd day in a row, first golfer in chief is back on the links. For those of you keeping tabs (we are!), this is the 23rd golf course visit in the 19 weeks Trump has been in office. Not bad for a guy who said he'd be too busy for golf, and who complained via Twitter (26 times) about Barack Obama's time on the course. SB Nation recently compiled the Trump tweets on Obama. Now who's being played?
All 26 times Trump tweeted about Obama playing golf too much Trump adores golf, but used to argue presidents shouldn’t spend much time playing it. sbnation.com

No, I know that you know it wasn't right, Pat. And absolutely they all need to stand up and say no on the other side too. Unfortunately, I don't see many people over there standing up unless it is to bash a liberal. Sometimes I can get too high up on the soap box.

Maybe that's the secret meaning of "cofveve"? As in Tweety and all his minions are great, big cofveves.

Obama was a politician and a real president that needed to chill every now and then. This guy isn't a politician and most certainly isn't presidential. He's a lying showman among other things that just happens to be in the WH because he was the guy running against Hillary. He also had a little help from his fiends, opps, did I say that? I meant to say friends.
This slime ball not only bragged about sexually attacking women, he also bragged about being able to shoot someone in the middle of NYC and still get votes as well as support. I'm not holding my breath for their side to hold out an olive branch or show any kind of decency.
"Be what you is because if you be what you ain't you ain't what you is." A friend of mine made plaques and signs on wood when we were both in our twenties. She made that one for me way back then and I still treasure it.
I honestly see the other side getting worse not better.
