1. What are some of your favorite ways of eating: Onions: I like them cooked better than raw in sauces, soups, with meat, etc... Peppers: Love stuffed peppers BUT never make them. Should look up a recipe. In stir fry is good and as a dipper, too. Potatoes: Baked and mashed and just about any way at all! I like baked topped with tuna and cheese (tuna melt) or with labne and blue cheese with sliced tomato on the side
2. What kind of refrigerator would you recommend to someone (me) who is hoping to buy a new one? Won't have automatic ice cube maker or water dispenser option as water is iffy here SO...two door, one door, freezer on top or bottom, etc. I have a top freezer with huge doors that make access difficult in some ways. Am leaning toward a bottom freezer with frig on top and two doors on the frig...just wonder if others have tried/like that type of frig
3. FUN: What do you keep in your purse "just in case"...? *kleenex - bathrooms here notoriously don't provide TP *individual hand towels/wipes *swiss army knife...you never know *tylenol *book to read

Note: I took out old exchange information and looked at what I did in 1984 to lose weight. There was more emphasis on protein and only two slices/servings of bread/starch per day and 3 max later on in the program versus 6-8 oz of protein. There were three tsp of fat. And, this morning I weighed the oatmeal and 3/4 oz was only 3 tbsp...and that is a LOT less than my usual 1/2 or 1/3 cup dry portion. So...am going to buy some protein today and some vegetables and see what happens as I track today...see how hungry I get
Personals
Judy: Love the idea of the cream spoon in the kitchen. Times were different when all was done at home. I remember bottles of milk delivered with cream on the top How great that Core/SF is working for you. I am dithering about exchanges or points but know to lose I need to "count" something
Cherry: Another successful Core/SF dieter...makes me almost want to lean in that direction I have never had corn and carrots cooked together...hmm...
Beverly: What does your salt dish look like? I have a plastic one but am leaning toward a covered pretty ceramic maybe? I am with you on counting to get the weight gone or at least to rein myself in...we will see.
Pam: I think counting points is a good thing and eating PF's is great...I am going to count...something...this week
Jan: I think more than one of us has mentioned focusing on counting or a WW plan and following it more closely. Here's to us having a good week! I do like that idea of a cucumber a day...

As I've said before, I just about love all veggies, I enjoy peppers, but sometimes they don't love me, so I try not to eat that many of them. When we have them come in from the garden, I sometimes make stuffed peppers for DH. Onions, I use them to flavor almost any meat or veggie dish. Potatoes, I just love them. Believe it or not, I am not crazy for fried foods of any kind, that kinda leaves out french fries & potato chips!! Just give me my spuds mashed, baked, boiled, potato salad, casseroles, just give me my spuds!!! Cathy, I have one of the double door style refrigerators with the freezer on the bottom. I have had it for several years. I like it ok, though I don't know if I would buy another one. Mine doesn't have the water/ice in the door. I wish I had that, but if that is not available to you, then you wouldn't need that feature anyway. I am seriously trying to carry a smaller purse these days, one of the cross body types. It cuts down the amount of things that I can carry, I do try to keep mints or tic-tacs in my purse, as I am leery of my bad breath on occasion. Cathy, my salt urn is blue & white. It is the old fashioned crock type of material. It has a few nicks on it & the lid is missing, but I love it. I know that it is well over a hundred yrs old. My grandmother was born in 1885 & she raised 9 children, so I'm sure it has seen lots of wear & tear.

1. What are some of your favorite ways of eating:
Onions - as in ingredient. Although, looking back to when I was growing up, we did eat green onion sometimes as a raw/fresh vegetable - probably had too many in the garden! LOL Peppers - most often as an ingredient. I like pepper strips (especially red) as a dipper with hummus, but I don't use them as often as snap peas, carrots or celery. Potatoes - baked, mashed, just about anything. WW friendly, not so much, even though white potatoes are on the Simply Filling list, that can be a harder one for me to keep satisfaction in mind. I do also like savory preparations of sweet potatoes.
2. What kind of refrigerator would you recommend to someone (me) who is hoping to buy a new one? Won't have automatic ice cube maker or water dispenser option as water is iffy here SO...two door, one door, freezer on top or bottom, etc.
Personally, for my next, I want freezer on the bottom, because we use the refrigerator part more and it would be easier to reach with fridge part on the top. At least around here, the french-door type (two half size doors) are what are popular. That doesn't really fit/work as well in my kitchen space. I think that kind of thing is probably most important...what will fit in the space you have and then, unfortunately, what's available.
3. FUN: What do you keep in your purse "just in case"...? As much as I can fit! safety pins, nail clippers, band aids, a few medications (over-the-counter pain, antacid, etc), tissues, there's probably paper clips, rubber bands, extra pony tail bands. A paper list of a few important phone numbers - since I rely on the phone to remember most of those numbers, what if something happened to the phone. We used to memorize numbers, but I admit that I don't know as many by heart as I used to. (why, yes...I do worry a lot!).
Kathy - I used to carry a small knife on my keychain until the schools started to instate strict weapon policies. Yes, I know, I work in the kitchen, with knives, but, I suppose if someone wanted to push the issue, a personal knife could be different.

1. What are some of your favorite ways of eating: Onions -just about any way, caramelized as a condiment, as an ingredient in salads, casseroles, soups, stews, etc. Peppers - as an ingredient in soups, stews, casseroles, in salads, in strips to dip, stuffed but haven't done that in years Potatoes - baked, fried, boiled, in potato salad, in stews, just about any way you can imagine
2. What kind of refrigerator would you recommend to someone (me) who is hoping to buy a new one? Won't have automatic ice cube maker or water dispenser option as water is iffy here SO...two door, one door, freezer on top or bottom, etc. I have one with double doors and the freezer on the bottom. One with a single door and bottom freezer would be fine too. As I get older I don't like to bend to get things out of the fridge, so when I was looking a bottom freezer was a given. I also love my ice maker. I don't have a water dispenser. 3. FUN: What do you keep in your purse "just in case"...? I always carried a beer opener in mine. I have fingernail clipper and nail file, little packets of kleenex, a pill bottle with some prescription pills in case I get caught someplace when it is time to take my meds.

Questions: 1. What are some of your favorite ways of eating: Onions Peppers Potatoes Sauteed all together sounds good. Love caramelized onions. Dip peppers into hummus. (had some for lunch today). Mashed, baked, french fries (baked) but don't eat potatoes too often. Cathy- there is a recipe for Stuffed green pepper soup. I will post it in a separate post below. It has all the ingredients of stuffed peppers in a soup. 2. What kind of refrigerator would you recommend to someone (me) who is hoping to buy a new one? Won't have automatic ice cube maker or water dispenser option as water is iffy here SO...two door, one door, freezer on top or bottom, etc. I just bought a new fridge a year ago. I got a side by side door model. It has an ice and water dispenser, but I haven't ever hooked them up. I do, however, make ice cubes and dump them in the ice dispenser, so i can have crushed ice (on demand). I replaced a fridge that had a top freezer. I really like this side by side model. 3. FUN: What do you keep in your purse "just in case"...? Do you remember on "Let's make a deal" when Monte Hall would give you a $100 if you had "whatever" in your purse ? I have that kind of purse. You can probably find anything in my purse, except what you are actually looking for.
