In the late afternoon yesterday my husband took Beauty, the mama cat, out to play. She stayed out for a couple hours and then came back in when the kittens got restless. The kittens are trying to walk but are still unsteady on their feet. She went out again this morning and I had to work to get her inside again. A cat door would be nice BUT with rodents, reptiles and other varmints probably not a good idea here. Yesterday I made a "poached" eggplant parmesan that was really tasty and served it with chicken and a spinach/beet salad dressed with pomegranate molasses dressing - yum! Probably have leftovers today. BEVERLY: My husband once planted 1000 cabbages....said he would sell them but never did...they became fertilizer. My daughter makes kimchee and I think you can make sauerkraut though I have never done so...might be something to do with those huge crocks in the attic CHERRY: It must be difficult keeping active when in pain BUT perhaps it keeps you more nimble by doing so. Hope you have good news from the rheumatologist. LYNN: It is sad about the kittens BUT the more I hear the more I learn that my first cat was the exception having five kittens that all survived. My sister said that two puppies from the litter her dog came from died - were premature. I hope the last two make it - so far so good. It is crazy when the electricity/internet goes...I HATE it...feel so out of touch with everyone! PAM: You are so lucky to have your mother alive and nearby! Make the most of it whenever you can!

Morning all! Cathy, glad the mama & baby cats are doing well. Not to rain on your parade, but I guess you know how often cats multiply!!! DD has several strays around her house (plus 2 inside cats), we have finally got all the females fixed except one, we can't catch her. She has already had one litter this spring & probably have 2 more litters before summer is over. They come in heat again before they even ween the first litter. Just a word of kitty caution. My mom & I used to make the sauerkraut. In fact, that was the main thing that the really large crock was used for when I was a kid. Now, I am too old & too lazy to fool with it. It is another beautiful day here, I am off to my big "job" at church. Tonight, the family is taking me out to some fancy new restaurant in Nashville. This is to celebrate my bday (which is actually Sunday the 11th). I am too old & contrary to even want to go, just as soon have a sandwich in my own kitchen, LOL You know you are really old when going out to eat is just too much trouble to fool with. Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning. The one redeeming thing about pain is that it makes me lose my appetite. I have lost almost 10 lbs since April 22. It's not an easy nor pleasant way to lose though.
I didn't get anything extra done yesterday except watering. Today I'm going to make an effort to plant some more flowers and hopefully this weekend with my son here we can finish up. Today it is supposed to be hot, with a high of 93. That's getting a little too warm for me. But there is a wind which will help make it not feel quite as hot. So I'll have to get at my flowers early before it gets that warm.
Have a nice day, beaches.

A beautiful day ahead with temps predicted in the 90s. Heading out to workout and walk shortly. We're going out to dinner and a show tonight with mom and my sisters. My dbil and a friend are presenting a show honoring the Beatles 50 years later. It should be fun. I need to plan my meal choices. Have a great day Beaches!
