Hello Ginny - I'm glad to hear your finished the quilting on the panel and hope you can get the binding done soon. Ruth - Hope you enjoyed the football game. I went out this morning for errands but got back early enough to piece together my blocks for the Pandora quilt and the top is now done. At this point I don't think I'll add borders, because I know that I would really want to use fabric from the Peachy Keen fabric line and I just don't want to buy any more fabric right now. I like this quilt, but I don't love it so I'm not sure it's worth another $30 or so to get more fabric. I did get some hand quilting done last night and just have one more line to stitch on all four sides of the medallion quilt, hopefully I can get that done this week and get the binding ready. I'm hoping to spend some time organizing my quilt tops and smaller pieces I've made that need to be finished. Once I have a good idea of what I really want to finish, I hope to set up a plan to work on some of them over the winter. I'm sharing pictures of the Peachy Keen Pandora's Box quilt and my blocks and layout (so far) for Pat Sloan's Autumn Wonders quilt along. We still have 5 blocks to make for this one. The dark fabric that is sashing two of the blocks is really a maroon color and not as dark as it looks in the picture. It also has a leaf design in it. Take care!

CJ - you sure have been busy! Again, thanks for the description of the fabrics in the Autumn wondersquilt along…I forget is that the quilt along that you are planning on only doing a partial quilt, or am I confusing that with Moda blockheads.? What is the actual approximate block size? The Pandora’s box quilt top is adorable - but I do understand if you are not totally in love with it why you would not want to put more money into that quilt. I am interested to see what quilt tops you actually decide to finish- and how you will choose to finish them.
Well I wish I was wide awake but slept poorly last night (struggled falling asleep). I hope I can catch up on my sleep tonight and fall asleep without too much difficulty.

Ginny, you do seem to have a lot of problems with trying to get to sleep. I hope that issue is soon gone and you'll be able to fall asleep without a problem each night and get lots of good rest.
CK, as usual, you are showing us very pretty quilt tops. I can sure understand why you wouoldn't want to spend money on yet more fabric when you don't particularly care for the main part of the quilt top.
Well the football game last evening was interesting. I don't know that I've ever seen a game with that many penalties. Plus the Bills seemed to have been napping for the whole first half. There also was that ending of the game which included some of the announcers believing that the Bill's should have been penalized for that last play which probably would have meant that the Giants would have won. Of course, being a Bill's fan, I'm glad they won but even Josh Allen said it was an ugly game. Also the player being taken from the field by ambulance to a hospital was a horrifying moment for the Bills, fans, and the player's family but I heard he's ok now
Now Monday night football. I'm not a fan of either team but have a preference for the Chargers to win.
I did do some crocheting earlier and will continue ow during the game

Ruth, I saw about 10 minutes of the Cowboys-chargers game last night….and well, sorry to say I prefer the cowboys. I have a strange list of football teams that I like. I was (Sunday) shocked that the Jets actually won…that was an interesting game in that I dislike both teams, and dislike the Eagles more- so for me it was a good thing that the Eagles lost. Regarding my sleep- if I am out during the evening, it pretty much means that I will have trouble falling asleep.. I was out Sunday evening and tried to leave early to allow myself the time to relax before bed. That does not always work. Hope that you were able to get a lot of crocheting done. What is your weather like- I am guessing all the snow melted around your home?

TWo reasons I preferred the Chargers. First is I've always been an AFC fan and second because I don't like Mike McCarthy who is the cowboys head coach. I, too, was shocked that the Jets won. I know my cousin is not happy because she is an avid Eagle fan having lived in NJ , near Philadelphia, until she married and moved to Texas.
Even a lot of the mountain snow has melted. It will be melting this week but after that I expect to see it being covered again

I usually dislike the Jets- they have reliably and predictably lost games over the years, and DH was a Jet fan- so I watched his angst and ire everytime that the stupid Jets lost. Losing is something they have really developed a talent for. For me, I usually like a good quarterback, and that was how I became interested in the Cowboys. Guess I am a 50-50 split between NFC and AFC football teams. My dislike for the Eagles goes back to my college years- when the college I attended was heavily in Eagles territory, and I felt somewhat picked upon because I was not an Eagles fan. I actually turned the Jets Eagles game off with about 2 minutes left, figuring that the Jets would do what they always do, and that being lose. What a shock to see that they won.
Think I am going to bring in the bird feeder so the bear does not trash it, and then work on the binding.
CJ- how was your day?

Yes the Bill's usually are like that too. They play well for part of the game then, esp when ahead, they quit playing and end up losing. The Jets have not been a winning team in forever. Well I like wildlife but would not want bears in my yarn. I'm glad we have only deer and antelope, bunnies and the occaisional badger.
Well we're set for winter now. Dear grandson brought our truck, which has 4 wheel drive, back. He not only brought it back but cleaned it all up for us and awhile ago actually he bought a steering wheel cover and new seat covers for it. I wouldn't hesitate letting him use it again except for winter when I might need it for emergency
I hope you're both having a good day. I got some crocheting in and I'm glad, Ginny, that you'll have time to work on the binding you want to get done.
I hope to see CJ soon and hear about the blocks she's finished today. I love those that she posted yesterday

Hello - Hope you are doing well today and the weather is nice. It's been in the 60s here and partly cloudy - nice Fall days. Ginny - I hope you were able to get the bird feeder away. How are things coming along with your panel quilt? Ruth - I'm glad to hear you are set for the winter and you have your truck back to use if you need it. Sounds like your DGS took good care of it for you. Yesterday I did some organizing in the my quilt room and decided on 4 of my small quilt pieces (really just a large block) that I'm going to make into pillow covers. I moved the rest of the small pieces to where I'm keeping all my quilt tops and other finished projects - these are the ones I need to start going through and sort into those I want to finish and those I don't really care about. This morning the new block for Pat Sloan's quilt along came out. This is the one I'm doing a Fall version and a Christmas version. It's a pretty block and I was able to get both of mine done. The Moda Blockheads block came out too, but I'll have to work on that tomorrow and maybe Friday. I wish I hadn't started 3 versions of this quilt - I was crazy But I want to at least finish the next 4 blocks for at two of the versions and then I think I'll stop with them. Making multiple blocks is a great way to use fabric, but it gets to be a bit overwhelming. Hope you get to do some crafting today too. Take care!

CJ- its your decision to continue with the 3 versions of the Moda quilt….well if it’s overwhelming to do all 3 then do only the ones you really like. The blocks are so pretty….I really like the Christmas fabric one!
Ruth - that is awesome that your grandson helped out so much with your truck. I agree, if It were me, I would let him borrow it whenever he wanted it (as long as you and DH did not need it). Wish I could send you a bear…..I have seen a few of them in the past few days. And Yes my birdfeeder is in for the night.
Last night I got the binding made and will attach it tomorrow. A very good but long day today. I am just plain tired.
Have a good evening Ginny

Hello - Hope you are doing well today It's a bit warmer here today, in the 70s and sunny with a breeze - a nice day! Ginny - Hope you rested last night and you're able to get the binding attached today. I don't want to stop making the Moda Blockheads block at this point, with 6 blocks made, so I'll continue until November 15th when the first part ends. I have so many orphan blocks, I sure don't want anymore Ruth - Hope you are enjoying a crochet project. Last night I finished the hand quilting on the mini-medallion quilt and I was so happy to be done. I sewed on the binding this morning and I hope to hand finish it in the next week or so. I also sewed on a binding to a small 12 inch block that I had done a big stitch quilting on. I also cut the fabrics for three envelope pillow covers, so those are ready to make. One is a 12 inch pillow size and the other two are 16 inch pillows. I'm hoping I'll find those size pillow forms at JoAnns when I go there the next time. If not, I'll just order them in the mail. Finally I cut the fabrics for the three Moda Blockheads blocks from yesterday's pattern. And I cut fabrics to remake one of the blocks I made last week, which I don't think works well with the others. Hopefully I'll get those blocks made in the next few days. Here's a link to see the block from this week: modafabrics.com/inspiration-resources/bh5-block-6-laurie-simpsonTake care!

CJ- I really like that Laurie Simpson block!(But by now you know I am a big fan of star blocks). Glad you recut the fabrics for the block that you were not super happy with your original fabric choices, and I really hope that you are really pleased with the fabrics you cut today for the block. I am pretty sure that you ought to have little trouble locating the 2 pillow forms that you are looking for at Joanns. They have had some good coupons in the my email recently and I hope you are able to take advantage of either a coupon or a good sale. Bet that feels so good finishing the mini medallion quilt! Congrats! You did beat your goal to have it done by the end of the month.
Worked this am, and did the insane thing and went for a walk to the bank this afternoon. Now I am a bit sore… ( I walked yesterday too). I can still go for walks but todays and yesterdays were long…2 miles each….and I am feeling it. I did get the panel quilt trimmed and am ready to audition the binding on it to make sure I do not end up with a seam on a corner. Should be taking care of that shortly.
Ruth- how was your day? Think we missed hearing from you, and I just hope everything is ok.

I intended to post all day but kept putting it off so I could do more crocheting and never got here.
I like the block on that link but don't care much for the red fabric she used.I hope you find the pillow forms you need and, as Ginny says, find some good coupons and that reminds me that I don't seem to be getting any emails from Joann's anymore. Herrschners also quits sending me emails and I have to contact their customer service to get back on their list. I'm glad you made a new block to replace the one you didn't like very much. It feels good to have any of our projects improved when we're not happy with how the project is looking.
Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that your walking put a strain on your muscles and they are sore not.I hope you feel better tomorrow (or later today I should say)
I got kind of tired working on the current afghan so much so my plan for these past few days has been to work on something else later in the evening so I've been making hats. I got 4 done since Sunday. It will very, very soon be hat weather.Making hats is also good for my plan to use up leftover yarn from other projects and to finish some of my UFO's which are largely hats.

Hello - Hope you are doing well today. We're getting some rain here this afternoon and then the weekend is supposed to be a bit windy. Ginny - Hope you are feeling less sore from your long walks and that you were able to start stitching your binding. Ruth - I'm glad you have some other projects to switch to, when you are bored with a project. I'm sure those hats will be loved to wear by someone. I went to JoAnn's this morning to get some Christmas fabric while it was on sale (50% off) and found several that I was looking for. I had an idea for how to use the Christmas blocks I'm making for Pat Sloan's quilt along and I needed more of the fabric I'm using and was happy to get it. I also treated myself to a mini Oliso iron and small pressing mat. I'm hoping I'll like using them next to my sewing machine. Right now I either have to get up to press when I'm piecing a block or balance my larger pressing mat and iron on the edge of my sewing table which gets irritating. I'll try the new items out this weekend and see how they go. I checked last night to see if I had any pillow forms before I bought more and I did have two that are 18x18. Can you guess what size I need for the pillow covers I'm making? That's right, not 18x18 I needed a 12x12, 14x14 and a 16x16. Fortunately they had all three of them and I bought them and some thread that was on sale too. This is a small gripe - I don't know why JoAnns even puts out coupons for discounts on regularly priced items - I had two of them to use but everything I bought was on sale so I couldn't use them. I even tried to use them for a candy bar - but the candy bars were on sale!!!! Take care and have a good weekend!
