This is a conservative thread to allow those with conservative views to express themselves. We welcome discussions about our weight loss journey
Geri & Gary, I certainly agree there is certainly a difference between the Democrats years ago. I can think of many Democrats that I liked. On the news today they mentioned President Jimmy Carter. He was on a flight recently and he shook hands with everyone on the plane. I thought that was a nice gesture. I didn't like his politics but there were many things that he did that I respected him for. The Democrats now have turned into a very bitter lot who just want to do everything they can to disrupt the government.
I too admired many Democrats back in the day. Despite his womanizing I did think JFK was a good president. He stood up to the Russians during the Cuban missile crisis and forced the missiles to be removed from Cuba (or so the Russians led us to believe). I don't believe Obama would have ever had the guts to do that. At least the Democrats back then put country first for the most part; now all they can think about is taking down Trump and in the process the government. It seems like there are new developments every day in all the congressional probes and none of them have established any connection between the Trump campaign and Russian interference in our election. Are they ever going to give up and admit there was no collusion?
In the meantime I have lost another 3 pounds this week for a total 24 pounds in 6 weeks on Nutrisystem!!
Gary, congratulations on your weight loss. I am sure you are feeling more comfortable as the summer heat gets higher. I wasn't able to listen to them question Jeff Sessions. But I am sure we will hear all about it if we turn on the TV. I am planning on reading this evening which will be more relaxing.
Gary, how right you were with this from last week: "the liberals of today are totally different from the liberals of JFK's era. Liberals today simply have a myoptic hatred for anybody who doesn't agree with them, especially President Trump whom they have been trying unsuccessfully to take down ever since the election that shocked the liberal world."
The unhinged hatred, vitriol, nastiness and hostility coming from the left has manifested itself into an assassination attempt on republican members of congress, along with civilians around them. The "alleged" shooter, now dead, was a Bernie supporter and a hater of Trump. There is a screen shot on the Daily Caller of something on this guy's facebook page....to summarize, "trump is a traitor, it is time to destroy Trump & company". Sounds like some libs we know. They are so blinded by their hatred and the fact that Hillary LOST, she LOST the election....even though she is blaming everyone and everything except herself. The constant calls of "revolt" "uprise" "riot" "take to the streets".....well, I guess they are getting what they are calling for. It is disgusting. And the media eggs on these people.....along with the likes of Maxine Waters....encouraging and legitimizing this hate with the constant "Trump needs to be impeached" "Trump is an agent for Russia" "Sessions is a Russian Spy" and on and on and on.
That's all I can say right now.....this is so upsetting. One of the reps had his ten year old son there. Oh.....and the shooter apparently asked one of the reps who was leaving a bit early "are these democrats or republicans practicing?" 'nuff said.
The level of vitriol and violent rhetoric against President Trump has increased substantially in recent weeks, from comedian Kathy Griffin’s now-famous shock “beheading” photograph to Shakespeare in the Park’s not-at-all-subtle “assassination” of Trump on a stage in New York City’s Central Park.
Unfortunately, Griffin and the director of Julius Caesar are not anomalies in Hollywood; actors, writers, directors, and other celebrities have fantasized about using violence against Trump, his supporters, and other GOP lawmakers for at least the past 18 months.
Below are 15 examples of celebrities who have used pointed, violent rhetoric to attack the president and other Republicans. "
1. Kathy Griffin ‘Beheads’ Trump in Graphic Photo 2. Madonna – “I’ve thought a lot about blowing up the White House.” 3. Snoop Dogg “Shoots” Trump in the Head in Music Video 4. Robert De Niro: “I’d Like to Punch Him in the Face” 5. Joss Whedon: “I Want a Rhino to F*c* Paul Ryan to Death”
6. Shakespeare in the Park Stabs ‘Trump’ to Death in Performance of ‘Julius Caesar’ 7. David Simon: “Pick Up a G*ddamn Brick” if Trump Fires Robert Mueller 8. Mickey Rourke Threatens to Beat Trump with Baseball Bat: “He Can Suck My F*c*ing D*c*” 9. Actress Lea DeLaria Threatens to ‘Take Out’ Republicans and Independents with Baseball Bat after Trump Win 10. Rapper YG Threatens Trump with “F*c* Donald Trump” Song 11. Marilyn Manson Kills ‘Trump’ in Music Video 12. Rapper Everlast Warns Trump: “I Will Punch You in Your F*c*ing Face” 13. Larry Wilmore Jokes About Suffocating Trump with ‘Pillow They Used to Kill Scalia’ 14. Stephen Colbert’s Late Show Puts Stephen Miller’s Head on a Spike 15. All I can say is I hope the American people are getting totally fed up with all this nonsense and vote accordingly in the next election and vote with their feet and money and not patronize anything these so-called "actors" and "entertainers" produce or appear in. If it hits them in the pocketbook maybe they will think twice about this stupidity. Have you noticed that in most of the terrorist attacks and acts of violence the perpetrators were already known to law enforcement? Why have no steps been taken to prevent these cowards from carrying out their despicable acts of violence against defenseless people? How many more innocent people have to die before they take them seriously?
Hey guys. I am sorry I have had family from out of town and was barely around. I had no idea anything was going on until it was brought to my attention yesterday. I just now saw that your thread had been hit too, I had no idea that you guys had had problems or I would have jumped on it sooner.
Please feel free to tag both itsrad and I on any thread you need us to delete posts on. The best way to bring something to our attention is to report the post. Use the gear symbol at the top right of the drop down menu. The minute that pops up we are notified and immediately act on it. And if it is done that way we can send the offender a warning.
I REALLY appreciate you guys not going into the other thread and responding! Again, I had no idea someone had been over here until just now, and it will be dealt with.
I'm going to jump in here and reiterate DebDoesWW's request that you utilize the report button. I knew Deb was busy with famiy, and I was checking the board frequently, but had no reason to think something needed action. When you hit report, DEb and I both get a notification so we can act quickly.
"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
No need for apologies Deb and Rad. Actually, it doesn't bother me in the least when someone swoops in. I really saw no need to report. She stops by occasionally and it is no big deal (speaking for myself, not sure how the others feel). It's just the way it is. But thanks! Lin
Actually, I saw nothing to report either. They occasionally swoop in to try to make a point but there were no personal attacks against any of us. We dealt with it and I saw nothing in particular to complain about. If there were a personal attack I/we would have reported it. As we state in our opening:
If you have liberal views we invite you to participate in a civil and respectful conversation. We would respectfully request that if you cannot post in a respectful and civil manner to refrain from doing so until you can. Good discussions are great - insulting arguments are not.
As long as they fall within these guidelines we welcome honest discussion.
As I watch this Otto Warmbier story, while I feel tremendous empathy for the family, I can't for the life of me understand why anybody in their right mind would voluntarily venture anywhere near the border of a country like North Korea or Iran where you get arrested and tortured for virtually anything you do.
LOL....Gary, that was too funny about the game!!! And they will keep on losing the important things like elections...as upset as I get about the nonsense that spews from the likes of Pelosi, my calm side says "keep it up, keep it up, the majority of the country is sick and tired of the unfounded hysteria".
And about the young man that was kept prisoner and tortured in North Korea. I have missed Tucker Carlson the last couple of nights....his interview Wed. night with the dad was pre-empted due to the shooting of republicans at softball practice and I forgot to turn on the TV last night....but DH said Tucker is out due to appendicitis...and when I did remember to turn it on, the congressional baseball game was on. Anyway...this young man went with a tour group to North Korea....they guaranteed their safety and all of that stuff. His big mistake was removing a propaganda poster from the hotel or something. My understanding is that you are not allowed to take pictures at any time, you can't go off exploring on your own.
