I'm not adventuresome with food at all. I hardly ever try new things or even think of new things to try. Drives my husband crazy because he is always looking for new foods and wants me to try new things.

I'm somewhat adventuresome. I like trying new recipes, and I like trying out new restaurants and new dishes at old restaurants. There are some foods that I've had an opportunity to try - but I just can't. There are some others that I've been willing to give a taste.

I picked up the term "food noise" from posts about taking the new weight loss drugs. People would post that the drugs would shut off the food noise in their head, so it was easier not to eat. I don't have much food noise at all. I eat pretty much the same things throughout the week and even when we order takeout, I get the same things. Therefore, I don't think much about what I'm going to eat. I can get what you call cravings sometimes for cupcakes or a dessert at a restaurant. The thing with cupcakes is I've decided they are not a big deal and I ignore the craving. Now if I tripped over a cupcake, I'd probably eat it, but I wouldn't make the effort to get one. As for restaurant desserts we hardly ever go out to eat, and I'm usually full by the time I eat and if no one else is getting dessert I don't get it.

Yes I read lots about food noise from the people on the medications. I have lots of food noise - always thinking about what I ate, about what I will eat, about what I'd like to eat, about how it all fits in with my diet plan, about whether or not I'm hungry, about whether or not I've eaten enough, about what I'll eat at the restaurant we're planning to go to tonight, or tomorrow night, or next week, etc, etc. It's one of the reasons that I don't like tracking - I think it just fuels all of this food noise.
I don't have an easy way of dealing with it. The best solution I found is to remove myself from food - both mentally and physically. I talk back to it, I distract myself with activities, I walk out of wherever the food is if I can, I focus on what my advantages are to managing my weight. It's really hard to do all this, and I'm not always successful. I'm less successful at it now then when I first returned to WW in 2009 and successfully maintained for a few years.
