CJ- any idea why you think the landlord would not want to renew a lease with you? Didn’t you move into a 55+ community?? Your blocks are so pretty… but you know I have a weakness for star blocks. That sure does stink that no moving company seems to be responsible enough to return your call. Keep trying, you need to get this over with so you do not have this hanging over your head. Glad to hear that your oven worked so well!!! So happy for you about that.
Well, not sure how the saga of my soap dispenser will end. I was able to get a replacement one, but It appears as though Dh when he installed this one might have glued it in place. So I am left with a decision to either try to unglue what is there or try to find one that I can kind of retrofit to the installation I have. I admit to being afraid to trying to unglue the existing dispenser….so I might see what I can find that I might be able to make work without having to take this whole installation apart. On a somewhat brighter note, I got good advice from the hardware store on how to repair my somewhat sagging cabinet door….should be an easy fix which I will do tomorrow.
They still have me on tap for 6 to 9 inches of snow. We shall see. I hope I keep my electricity through it all and know that Dh is going to have to get to and from work, so his safety is always a concern.
Ruth hope you had a good day…..

Hello - Hope you are both having a good day. It was cool and sunny here today before the rain we're supposed to get tomorrow. Looks like we'll miss the snow this far south. Ginny - I hope you don't have any problems with the snow and that your DS has safe travels to and from work during the bad weather. Hope you can figure out what to do with the soap dispenser and that you can fix the cabinet door. The place I'm renting is in a 55+ community. My lease states that after it is up, the landlord would consider renting to me on a month by month basis. They have to give me 60 days notice of not renewing my lease, so I could possibly have to move again in December of this year or maybe they would keep approving monthly rentals for me. Best case would be if I like it hear they will maybe rent to me for another year. Otherwise, I'm going to have to figure out where I'm going to go next. Ruth - Hope you are enjoying some time crocheting and reading. I didn't get much done today since I was waiting for a repair guy to come and fix the icemaker in the refrigerator. It was supposed to be fixed before I moved in, but they didn't have the right part. Then when the guy came in December he had the wrong icemaker. Today he had the right icemaker and hopefully it is fixed. I took the food out of the refrigerator portion and put it in my cooler before he came and I'm glad I did because the temperature rose again while it was unplugged. The funny thing is that I haven't had an icemaker for probably 10 years or more and don't really care if I have one or not I drink so much water all day (from a pitcher I keep cold) that I don't have much room left to drink anything with ice in it. I did cut some strips of fabric to make those two table toppers that I mentioned back in December. I hope I can get them pieced and even quilted this weekend since they are small 18x18. They will nice and wintery on my tables. Take care and have a good weekend

Gee….. hope Ruth is ok! Did she miss posting and has not yet checked in today?
CJ- well congrats on the ice machine finally getting repaired. I do remember that you had trouble with the repair in December. Does the community you are living in have a reputation for not renewing leases? I cannot imagine that they would not renew your lease unless you were having wild parties and trashing the house. I am glad to hear that you are getting set up to make the two table toppers. That is a great project for you to get started on in your new home. Glad to hear that this storm will be a rain event for you. Nice not to have to deal with snow!!
I worked this am- but came home and got some work done on the baby quilt. Next is attaching the sashing- which I will do tomorrow. Got a few things done in anticipation of the snow. They keep changing the amount I am supposed to get. Who knows.
Looks like Ds is working a double tonight. He will be driving home in for snow tomorrow. I have practice at church this evening and will not be staying long as my back is bothering me.
Hope Ruth checks in and is ok!

I'm sorry I didn't post here yesterday. I got involved in a few things including crochet, reading, and playing games online and forgot to post.Today was pretty much taken up by defrosting our large upright freezer which was a big mess because we don't defrost it in the summer because we don't want food to spoil while out of the freezer. We do have coolers but not enough to hold all the food.
CJ, I really love that red, white and blue star square! The second is very pretty also but the other is my favorite. I'm very happy that you found that you still love quilting. YOu have a real talent and I'd hate to see you not use that talent. Plus I'd miss seeing your projects. I seriously think that the owners or those that manage that senior community Have the leases set up that way so that they can ask a person to leave if that person does not pay their rent promptly or does some damage to the property or does not do their part in maintaining it. I've known some older people that were really bad housekeepers. I'm sure you are very good at keeping things neat and clean and that you pay your bills on time so I really can't even fathom them not renewing. They probably also offer month to month payment after the first year as a courtesy to older people who may become ill or not able to live alone and want to move in with family or have to go to a care facility after they get older. I imagine you're one of the younger people in that community and have no chronic illness and have no desire to live with family so I think that you will be perfectly safe and will get a renewed lease with no problem so don't let that dwell on your mind and cause you stress.
Ginny, I take it that what you have is a built in soap dispenser. I don't have one so don't know a thing about them but I do hope you find an easy way to fix it by installing it easily. I saw on the news yesterday that your area may get even more than nine inches but I sure hope you don't and that you don't lose your power. I'll also continue to pray for safe travel for your son. I hope you were able to get all the supplies you need in case you do end up getting a lot of snow.
News claims there is a surge in flu cases in this country. Isn't there always a surge in flu cases each winter? Did you all get your flu vaccine for this year?

Ruth, so glad you stopped in and are ok. Regarding the flu shot, yes I got mine (early October) and did some research on it. This years shot is supposed to offer decent protection from the flu, the strains in it are in good alignment for the variant that is circulating. My doctor did not recommend another covid booster, nor the RSV shot, both of which were not put through the years of clinical trials done to other vaccines in the past. , And I agree with your analysis of what will likely happen to CJ- who I cannot imagine will not have her lease renewed!! Yes I have a built in soap dispenser… I was hoping that the one I picked up would be a perfect replacement, for the original, but it is a slightly different size. Gotta figure out how I will deal with that. Because I am unsure if Dh glued the existing one in place, I am concerned that trying to remove it will be a disaster.
CJ- hope you get through the storm ok…sounds like mostly a rain event for you with just a little snow.
Gotta run an errand before the weather goes downhill….BBL

We got a little snow last night but maybe an inch. I hope that neither of you got a lot of it. Snow can be very pretty but is such a pain to have to shovel.
Ginny, I hope your daughter will arrive safely. Will she be spending the night if it snows a lot before time she usually goes back home? I sure hope your son doesn't have to do another double shift.I hope you got the errand done and are back home before any snow starts
CJ, I hope you're having a good weekend and doing some quilting.
Dh finished up the freezer before I woke up so that was a relief. The freezer is in the garage which is not heated so it's cold in there.
I started the tree skirt a couple evenings ago and remember how poorly the pattern is written. I didn't make notes when I used it several years ago so had to figure out once again what she was talking about then realized how easy this pattern is once you figure out the stitches she's talking about crocheting into. I don't thinkk this is going to take me too long.
See you all later.

Ruth, that is good news that you were able to figure out again, how to put that pattern together. It sure stinks that it’s not a well written pattern….but good news to hear that you feel this project goes quickly. Gotta love DH for finishing up work on the freezer!!
CJ - hope that the snow/rain has passed quickly for you.
Sorry to be brief…..Ds got home ok- but has to go back in early. I hope that the plows have had a chance to work the roads, most of his journey is on fairly major roads to get to work. DD came over (she is back home now) and then I had to go into church to practice for tomorrows service. Most of the musicians will likely be unable to get in to town for service so the guitarist and I tried to figure out how we will make it work tomorrow so it sounds decent.
Got no quilting done at all…..perhaps tomorrow.

Good morning! It’s a winter wonderland out there…looks like about 6 inches of snow fell… Ds (who did not text me that he got to work ok ….grrrrr……..) had the snow blower out at 2:30 and cleared the driveway. Think more snow is supposed to fall (right now there no snow is falling) Looks like they have already done some plowing too, so the roads should not be a nightmare. My birdfeeder is a busy place right now.
Hope both of you slept well….

Hello Ginny - I hope you don't get much more snow, I'm sure you are enjoying seeing the birds eating the food you put out for them I hope you and all your family will have safe travels. Ruth - I'm glad you figured out the Christmas Tree skirt pattern, and hope you can get it made soon. I bet your DGS will be happy to get it whenever it's finished. I didn't do much yesterday, but in the evening I did sew together one of the table toppers and I found that I had misjudged putting these fabrics together in a rail fence pattern. They blend too much and you can't see the fence pattern. So I only made one of those and cut up the other strips into a long and narrow piece that I'll use to put on the mantel here at the rental house. I still have my things to put out on the mantel, so I want to get this made first. I need to go through my batting scraps and see what I can use for these pieces before I cut into a larger piece. I went up to my house today to check on things and thankfully they were fine. After that I stopped by JoAnns on my way back and picked up some more of that white/red polka dot fabric so I'll have enough for the Moda Blockheads quilt along. I also bought some background fabric to make another Temperature quilt. This one is a Fat Quarter Shop free pattern. I had so much fabric leftover from the first one, I thought it would be fun to make one for where I'm living this year. It's a cute pattern too: www.fatquartershop.com/2024-cottage-temperature-quilt-pattern-free-pdfThey have this pattern in a cross stitch too. Have a great day
