Ann, This has been on my holds since I heard about it on a podcast. I just checked and I am 11th on a list of 22 so it shouldn't be too much longer.

My friend just dropped me off 6 books that she knows I will enjoy. I didn't have that many for her. she has been more house bound than me taking care of her Daughter who broke her arm awhile back.

I just finished THE WOMEN by Kristin Hannah. It is about the women in the war in Vietnam. The first half was pretty good. The last 100 pages, when Frankie returns from Vietnam and her life falls apart were very hard to read and the last few pages made me cry. I would not recommend unless you really want to know about the war in Vietnam and remember that it is historical fiction.

I've just started another Penelpe Lively book, Making it Up. Lively describes it as an Anti Memoir, what would her life have been like if certain things hadn't happened: from the book jacket, "to explore the stories that could have been hers, and as she weaves through plausible hesitations, choices and definitive moments in life...." Ive only read the first twenty pages, but so far, it is the kind of writing I expect and love from her. I'll keep you posted.

I just finished the 2nd book in the Fantasy series. Did text my DGDin law to let her know if came her sister is waiting on it. Hoping to start the 3rd one before I forget this one.
I am reading THE CELL by Stephen King, not a big book but kind of a Walking Dead plot.
Guess I need to start on a light romance.

Well, I ended up loving TOM LAKE. I am glad I gave it a chance as I was not into it in the beginning.
Just started THE WOMEN. It is bringing back memories...

Gail: I read Tom Lake twice, the second time for book group and I liked it much better the second time I read it. The discussion always helps me appreciate the book more. All that being said, it is not my favorite Ann Patchett book
