Good Morning - Hooray for FRIDAY!! Tough week here, mostly at home - I will try not to complain about April taxes and bills due and money flying out the window - just a tough month. Linds discovered the hard way that her student loans are NOW in full repayment as she already used her Grace period prior to Grad school or when she was taking a break from grad school that time? Anyway, we bailed her out this time but just bad timing. Not sure I even made time to mention here she did not finish that grad school program. I have to let it go. She found out in January that 2 classes she paid for and took along the way were 'electives' and did not meet the new requirements. But she swears no one told her. The school was reconfigured and in the process of changing to new name and new configuration, (combined with 2 other State universities) she lost track of her advisors who came and went like a revolving door, and all of this was virtual which means she could not physically FIND anyone to ask - enough. She is out of money and heartbroken and time to step back and take a breather. That was going on the same time we were losing DB Mark and just a very emotional time - she won't lose the credits she has earned but can't bear the thought of STILL paying tuition to a program that can't seem to get their act together. She is working as part-time manager at the Brewery and serving other nights. And NOW she is realizing the gig does not pay her bills. Sigh. This is me letting it go... I continue to work steadily on contract reports and work-work prepping for the State tests. I know I sound like a broken record. Last week Carly and I visited my DA Marion for her 90th and visited with my cousins and their families. It was sweet. However, earlier that same day my Gary had a diabetic episode. He is pre-diabetic and always maintained his levels with meds but every once in a while this happens where his blood sugar is just off and he gets very dizzy and sick. He felt better within hours but heavy fatigue follows the episode. This happened maybe 3 times in last 10 years...it was a wake up call to him to start adjusting his diet! Switched up his daily lunches from lunchmeat and white bread to low carb wraps and tuna, or lettuce wraps with grilled chicken. He's fine now, but that was something. After visiting DA, we immediately stopped by Virginia's. She was home. Sound asleep napping in bed. I woke her to gently ask if she was okay and did she plan to stop over Marion's for her 90th? She was not going to go - said maybe she would stop over Wednesday or Thursday?? WHAT? I teased her and said the cousins were there NOW hoping to see her today. She dragged herself up and said she would go - but Carly and I knew she would not have gone had we not stopped over - plus she never did tell me the gathering was going on! My cousin Janine laughed when I asked if Virginia was invited - of course she was!! Everyone thought I was bringing her with me! Imagine that...I told them she never shared anything about the gathering which confused everyone but me. I just smiled with grace... Oh, you all saw now that our CLOUD coverage for the ECLIPSE ended up CLEARING OUT!! We experienced the total coverage! It was the coolest experience! The picture I posted was lit up and brightened but actually it was very dark like nightfall. Our garden solar lights and all the street lights were on! Yes, the temps dropped - and Sue is right, it was a very strange feeling as it slowly got darker and quieter. We watched through our solar glasses lol but for about 4 minutes we didn't need them during the Total coverage. I'm so glad the clouds cleared just in time. Lindsey was at work and she said immediately after the eclipse they got slammed with tourists at the Brewery. She ended up working a double shift! Carly and Ben tried to leave immediately after the eclipse for their place and got stuck in heavy congested traffic about 30 minutes south. They had to figure out how to navigate to the back roads and even then it was an extra hour before they made it home. Folks complained that it took them an extra 2-3 HOURS to get back to Pittsburgh! There were plenty of pictures of bumper to bumper traffic coming to Erie for the Eclipse but then trying to get back home - I guess it was crazy - we did not experience the gridlock in town but I guess it was nuts south of us! Time to get the day going - I hope Sue has a good flight to TX - if I have time I'll check in tomorrow to see how the rest of you are doing - Jo - I'm hoping the RAINS stopped - we are under a flood watch here as the rains just keep coming - and temps dropping to 40s Jenny - your patio looks lovely but OUCH to your hand!!

Jenny: Please share what tools you have for cleaning the patio! That looks like an awesome power washer!! I need a new one this year... Patio looks great!! Oh dear... OUCH! Hope it heals quickly, so you can get things done that you want to do before the party. {{{hugs}}}
Sue: Wishing you safe and easy travel. I forget where your layover is.
Christine: Oh dear... I hear ya'! This mess over taxes has me beside myself! We thought we were doing everything right, but clearly we did not. So sorry that Linds had such a mess of a Grad Program. Tracy's college lost their accreditation for her major, when she was a Sophomore! So she had to change her major! She was so disappointed! {{{hugs}}} as you all let it go, and move forward. So odd for Virginia to not even mention the part or want to go. Good Lord, at their ages, it's also time for them to Let.It.Go.!
Glad you could all see the eclipse as planned. It was weird to have the "dusk" and "cold" when we had literally just been sitting in the HOT Sun! The local radio station was reporting on the back ups on I91! So many people going to VT for 100% coverage, were stuck on the interstate! They can see it from the window at the radio station. So folks that were going North, obviously didn't plan enough time for the drive! They said the traffic South (later) was much the same... stop & go!
OK Heading upstairs to log onto Carissa's Q&A at 9. I'm not doing well with my program these days - my head is just not in it right now! The rains and cold are here through the weekend, which doesn't help!! Tomorrow morning is my haircut, then I'll have the girls for a while, then nothing planned for Sunday!
I gotta get a life!!!
♥hugs♥

Good morning!
Popping in quickly and will come back later today. As of yesterday morning, three superintendents in our county have resigned! Uggh! My Deputy Supt (jokingly) texted me and said, "Are you sure you don't want to unretire and become a superintendent?" It is making me think that there will be plenty of "extra work" that they might ask me to contract for when I can (6 months after retirement). Yikes, this is pretty unsettling. The information about medical insurance was good last night--confirmed what I thought I understood and I got a bit more information so I feel better informed. I am following through with my planned coverage. Our tax appointment was good but DH has some work to do and I can tell that he is frustrated...but there is nothing that I can do. He doesn't like going back and looking over his records....well, we all have to do things like that sometimes. Anyway, I guess that one of my retirement projects will be getting him organized so that this doesn't happen again. He planned to golf today but had to cancel to do this tax stuff....well, I guess we live and learn.
I promise to pop in later. Got a call at 5:30 pm that needs attention and a text at 8:30 pm as well (I know....unbelievable). See you all later.

Good morning everyone
Carole I have a Huscavarna power washer and I bought a disc attachment that you use to get for your power washer. It's a round disc I bought on Amazon that you use and it kind of sweeps all the dirt off a little faster than the normal wand . I loved it and it was so much quicker that the wand as well.
Oh Christine I'm sorry that your tax situation isn't fun. Taxes usually aren't. Sorry about Lindsey's college loans are now due and her classes didn't count as ones she needs. Audrey's are not due till 2027 but Kerry and I are trying to pay the interest for her so she just pay's the amount of the loan. College is so expensive and it really shouldn't be that much but what are you going to do. It's just crazy ridiculous. Oh boy that's something about Virginia and her sister and not going to the party. I'm glad you had a good time at the party. Does Gary have diabete's, I didn't know that. Is he on medication? I hope he takes it seriously and adjusts his diet so it will make him feel better with less attacks.
Today I'm going to mow the lawn, then run to Costco for alcohol and the cake for dad and then tomorrow I will start the smoker around 5:00am and get the brisket on by 6:00am to be ready by 3;00pm and make the green beans in the afternoon and that's all I'm doing, the rest is up to my sisters. I might pick up some rolls at Costco as well.
OK hello to all, I hope you all have a great Friday. It's really hard to type with a injured hand.

I woke up at 350am this nothing and slept on the couch until 8am. It was poring down rain all day yesterday. So we didn't go to the walking tour but they called and said we could do it tonight. So that is our plan.

Let me tell you about the hottest! SO nice. So cool. The controls are electric. It has speaker you can Bluetooth your phone to so I hooked it to my Spotify and we listened to music sitting in the HT.
Carole I thought of you. Is your like that? I have never seen one this fancy.
Your kitchen remodel sounds nice. I really need one too. Yeah I wouldn't want that guy that didn't show working on my kitchen either. Sorry you are having a hard time with Joe's program. Give yourself sober slack.
Christine, thanks for starting us. Sorry Lindsey is realizing this now and having problems. Can she sign up for pay as you earn with her student loans?
Hope you can get all that testing behind you. Why do you think you Mum didn't want to go to the bday party? I'm glad the sky cleared up for you. Yeah I'm sure the traffic was horrible.
Gabrielle, yes the says have cleared finally. They lost power at home. It's coming of today but not supposed to rain. Yes we all have things we don't like to do. Would you really go back and do contract work? Enjoy your retirement!
Sue, safe travels.

Jenny, sounds like your busy with the prep. Does Cosco make personalized cakes? That's early to get up and to start a smoker. I bet it will turn out great.
Gabrielle, that was funny that guy knew about the area where you got your ticket in TX..lol I like the therapy on zoom better instead of going into their office.
Carole, yay fir the great doctors visit. That is something to be proud of. I glad you like your new Dr.

Just back from a walk. Very light drizzle but 63 degrees! Just under 10 minutes to get UP the hill, less to get back down.

Gabrielle: Oh geeze - sorry your districts are having so many resignations! What seems to be the reason? Good thing you already submitted all your paperwork! Yeah, finding stuff for taxes is a pain, but if it helps the bottom line - it's worth it. Friday at 8:30 PM and you will still be working??
BTW Bento boxes are done, so I have lunches for 4 days already prepped!
Jenny: I think that thing looks awesome for some of my power washing! I'm worried it will take a layer of concrete off though. Even just power washing I sometimes feel like the dirty water looks like it has cement in it! Enjoy your trip to Costco! I have to hit BJs tomorrow, but they don't sell alcohol! LOL Hope your hand is healing well.
Jo: Beautiful pictures! YAY for a good night's sleep AND NOT having to do the walking tour in the pouring rain. Glad the HT is enjoyable, is it a private one? On your deck or something? That's awesome. Uh, No... we do not have bluetooth, but we do have BT speakers that we can bring outside to listen to. How is Em doing? At home... alone... everything must be going well?
Sue: One of our flights wasn't full either, so we had a seat between us too. It sure does make it nicer!
So as I posted - I went for a walk today. Carissa kind of talked me into it during our call this morning. My weekly meeting with Kait is today. I was at the doctors office Wednesday, so we postponed until today, at 3. I have also tracked my day, and have 60 oz of water (so far)... so today may just BE the day that I get myself back-on-track!

Good afternoon,
Wow, where has the day gone? I know....to many, many meetings! Oh, so glad that it is Friday!
Jenny: I was so sorry to read that you burned your palm! How painful! It sounds like you are right on top of getting everything done for the event at your house though. It is such a good idea to include your sisters so that you don't have to make everything. Wow, your power washer is amazing! The before and after is really something...I hope that your palm is healing....
Jo: What beautiful country you are in! I am so glad that the bed is comfortable...but why did you end up on the couch? I hope that you sleep well tonight too.
Carole: YAY for getting a walk in! Keep it up...and the bento boxes are ready too? You are on a roll!
Sue: I was glad to read that you got there safely---good news! It sounds like the flight left on time (to get to San Antonio) too...have a wonderful time.
Okay, I am going to get back at it. Have a good evening ladies!
