Good Morning,
I hope you enjoyed your day off yesterday. Our weather yesterday was absolutely CRAZY!!!! Torrential rain wind and HEAVY rain squalls and hail too! Thunder and lightning, it was blowing sideways out there! I had already gotten my walk in, so that was good and I think my plants I put in are okay.
Creative: I spent more time than should have, but oh well, getting these graduation cap and gown bear designs done for charts, so those are up and I think they're cute and good to have in the shop. there are three, two brown bears for 2024 and 2025, and one white bear for 2025.
Painting: Big painting, the floating frame uses double sided velcro to hold the canvas in the frame and DH had some othe rdouble sided stuff, I used a bit of additionally because reviews I read said sometimes the velcro doesn't hold. SO it's in, it looks good, just a couple more things and it will go on the wall.
Vacation Planning: Yes, there are two separate food planning issues that surround. Individual cottage food and then a communal dinner situation involving many strong personalities and oneextreme pot stirrer who becomes completely unhinged and I do not use that word lightly. But I have good strategy for communication approach to group which I think is working already. I leave Monday the 8th for this vacation. I've already done most of the dry goods grocery shop for the vacation for the food for myself and contributions to communal meals. But I do need to make a packing list, find all the beach stuff, towels, water toys, extra chairs, toddler box of toys, etc that is similar to what I brought last year.
There is a lot happening between now and the 8th. I spend the 4th of July with my mom, then we drive together from her house one hour away to attend her brother and SIL anniversary party where we will see their kids, them, etc. so that's two days gone. When I return, my sister and her friend will have arrived and we have a dinner out with them and cousins on Saturday night at a nice restaurant in town, they stay here two nights and leave Sunday. Then I leave on Monday.
Needlepoint Canvas: Yes, I have been busy getting the charts up and whatnot, making new charts, there is a part of me avoiding starting this process though. But I promised my friend I'd bring her two items, so I have no choice to but spend today and tomorrow working on actual painting. It is mentally daunting to think about, but I will only improve my processes by actually doing the processes. So I must, and will, be working won this today and tomorrow.
House: Wednesday I'm reserving for house cleaning so all is well prior to sister and her friends arrival. So Wednesday will be a house cleaning all day with breaks making my vacation packing list.
THat's about it. I hope you had a good restful recovery day yesterday.
Z.
I'm so glad I put flowers, red/orange gernaniums and white verbenum in the two pots by the front porch. You see them as you drive up the street/by and they really make things cuter and more colorful. ALso they are two smaller pots, but tall, so not a major investment for a lot of visual pay off. The front planting area looks great and I did a recheck on the plants I put in, and I think they are all resistant to marmot/rabbit. But I'll continue with the spray and I ordered a 4 pack of solar powered sonic deterrent which are not long range, should only effect what tries to come on our lot to munch plants. Will be interesting to see if this works. Plus we have cat using walkway to the side, lower house area to lower deck to poop...so will be interesting to see if these stop that as well. Will keep you posted.
Tuesday AM Update: -Got the solar/sonic Marmot, Rabbit Deterrent, I've put two down below pointing at our walkway and under the lower deck, two are in front yard, hopefully not to obtrusive looking, one is behind a rock cannot be seen at all from the street and points toward the house to two typles of plants they like to eat. THey charge for two hours, then I can turn them on, and then just stay on. -yesterday was not stellar day for anything -this morning I'm continuing with the canvas prep steps should have done yesterday, I'm not sure the initial pencil marking seems to be going better, I printed larger printouts to reference as I go in two styles, fingers crossed, need to keep going! -I've done the pencil marks, spraying, stippling and taping of three canvases, I have 5 total prepped now and will start with the paint. I'll paint the easiest one first. -Went ahead and posted 4 of my living room cat scenes, two holiday, two non holiday, there's a black cat, a white cat and a tabby cat. -I turned marmot deterrents on, they make a clicking noise, it's very subtle, but I'm hoping this is not a bother for neighbor on one side, I think she has sensitive hearing, but I think she won't be able to hear it, we'll see. If it's a problem, I don't have my hear set on using them. -rebooted laundry x1
I'll paint the easiest item first and then move on to angels with the hopes of doing error free work. I made a template of the round that has a hole so I can also center, and mark the center, then I double check with a ruler. THe counting and pencil marking seem to go well and I also made a couple corrections to one of the original armless angels that I believe contributed to problems I'd obviously not caught before. So...we'll see!
Hope your day is going well.

Z, The cats are adorable!! Bears are all just so cute! It sounds like you have a lot of pleasant activities planned for the next couple of weeks. And hopefully the marmots etc will leave your new plants alone. I have been keeping busy but will skip the particulars as none of it is really anything new. Still trying to recover from over doing it and it does seem to be getting better each day. Hooray for that! I do have month end stats for June: 2,638 days of daily weighing, maintaining my 18.4 WL, 30 days of activity = 375,180 Steps averaged to 12,506 for each day. This month I am concentrating on not getting as many Steps since I pay the price for that much intense functional fitness and also I am just about on top of all yard items. DRUMROLL XXXX
More tomorrow.....
Hope you are having a pleasant evening!!!

Good Evening!
Congrats to you on your June Stats! You are doing so great with all of this, such consistency and great maintaining of all! Woo Hoo!!!!! I hope you're feeling more and more recovered from your work in the heat.
I have a goal set for myself for July 29th, which is the morning we leave on a two week trip to some Baltic countries. I should probably set a mini goal for when I return from the family vacation on the date of the 19th as that would help me keep positive focus while on family vacation. I will ponder this. I have been walking every day for about a week now. Then, I believe, I can continue with progress on weight loss on that trip as before, maybe even do slightly better. I have had backslide some, not all the way, which regardless of the physical things that occurred , in June, if I'd not fallen back into poor choices with food, could have been avoided. I can and will do this!!!! Seriously, by the end of August, I would really be in a good place! That would be wonderful!!!!!
Today I did two more pretty major grocery shops,(makes 3 total) one at Costco and one at the regular grocery store. Came home and made some nice food DH likes as he'll be on his own for the 4th of July and the next day, got that stuff cooked and into the fridge. Tomorrow I drive to Mom's and stay two nights, we spend 4th together, and I got Costco street tacos for us to enjoy tomorrow. Friday the 5th we drive to where her brother and SIL live to attend an anniversary party for them and see relatives and cousins. THen I'll drive back to her house, drop her off and continue the rest of the drive home. My sister and her friend will have arrived at our house before I arrive back home. I've stopped with painting activities because now I just need to do some house cleaning to prepare to have guests here.
Vacation: I've been setting the dry goods type groceries aside in boxes and soft carry totes/bags in the den so that most of will be already consolidated and ready to go. I need to make a formal list though, or else I'll forget something. Communications with the "normal" people seem to be going well and am editing the rest, but all is well it seems.
I finished the Nun canvas for my friend, that's the first time I painted that, still took some time, it's done. Texted her that is all I will have for her when I see her, the other item will have to be done when I return on the 19th and I'll mail it. Made 4th of July post with my USA Flag Bear.
Thanks for the compliments on the bears. HOnestly, I chould just get everything I have up as a chart, at least they'd be up and available while I work through the canvas painting steps. I will ponder this. Can't realy do much about it until later in the month anyway.
Hope you've had a good day.

Z, Great job getting all shopping done!!! and as always I am so impressed with your social skills--haven't mentioned that before but I love to read about how you navigate successfully through all situations! Hope you have fun this 4th! Is this Baltic area new to you?
Today's 14,240 Steps accomplishments: - Got all the watering done in La Mariposa including the hand watering, - started working on the paver project by leveling out the area which will need more work but got a good start on it, - got the rest of the squirrel traps out of the boxes, which was way harder than can be imagined, and set up in readiness for the Squirrel Roundup and Relocation Project that starts tomorrow. It will be good that DH is home so that he can do some of the relocation driving. - A load of laundry, - Vacing where it needed it and also started vacing rooms since apparently this job has devolved to me. It's kind of fun since I figured out that the best and easiest way to do it was to walk backwards with the stick vac. I acquired an incredible ability to walk backwards for long distances comfortably and accurately since doing that was part of Clair's PT. I can have the vac on high, zooming right along and pick up way more than when it is going forward because the low speed has to be used. So this devolvement will be positive because truthfully the vacing improvement can be implimented. Probably TMI, but I thought it was interesting..... - Got the clutter taken care of and gone out of my life. Seriously, I don't have much clutter at all anymore. I decided to act like I am getting ready to move so now I deal with the clutter automatically instead of packing it away in storage containers etc. - Several dog walks - Printed a number of large attachments from emails for work and organized my work area - Organized some items in the garage. There are empty spaces in the storage units now. Incredible! Plus the basement is still empty and the storage shade is mostly empty due to me being worried about it collapsing during one of our more scary wind storms - Had to transfer some things that were in boxes in the storage shed into a big plastic tub because the squirrels had decided to start chewing on one of the boxes. I am glad I am not a squirrel because if this is what they consider fun I feel sorry for them. - Also put away the pellets left in the spreader when we had the cricket invasion, which I didn't bother to bring up here. The poison, however, was spread along the planter etc so I had to wear an N95 mask while working outside for weeks. Ugg.... Definitely, glad that is behind me! - On the dog walks I started pulling little plant starts that are on the trails, committing to getting 10 picked up per walk. I get into this, though, so I usually pull at least 20 which irritates Clair since she has to stop and wait each time. Now she knows what it feels like for me to have to put up with endless sniffing. Ha Ha. Also my holster and belt that is used by construction people to put their drills in came. Now I can put my charged up Ryobi clippers in there so that when I encounter bigger plants I can cut them back. This is all kind of fun for some strange reason. Kept everything picked up and got all the regulars done---feeding birds x2, dog feeding, hummingbird feeders changed, water changed in bird bath, three dog water containers, on and on.....LOL
Hope you are having a pleasant evening!!!

OMG!!! Crickets!!! I think I recall my sister speaking on this!!! Yucko! You have done amazing work today! I hope the squirrel round up goes smoothly as possible!
I jumped back on here cause I wanted to say that in addition to grocery shopping, putting away I have purged many things from the refrigerator in house and garage also! I've also had DH examining fridge items and helping with this and I used up a lot of ingredients today before they "went" in food prepping for DH! So there has been some CB'ing.
Baked 4 loaves of zucchini bread two to take with, one for here/guests to serve with breakfast. Things are going well...>I think. but I'm a bit zonked.

Z, Great Job getting so much cleaning accomplished!!! Hope yo had a wonderful time at the party! Saturday: I continue working diligently on the yard etc. The heat is a factor right now so I am working around it by getting my outside chores done by 10:00. However, my enthusiasm sometimes causes problems with that commitment. Yesterday and this morning I made a big push to get some trees sculpted, three of them so I ended up with lots of bags and branches. I wanted to get this done since the fire mitigation contractor was coming to cover up the old hole, which he calls a pit and also to dig a new one. I made an excellent selection for location, Hooray for that!He dug the new hole and put the dirt along side of it so it ended up hiding the hole and is actually more attractive than it sounds since he took his machine and ran over the top of the pile so it is kind of flat topped. Also he provided space on both sides so I can drive my Quad along the sides. He understood my need to have quite a bit of extra space for safety. The last thing I want to do is drive close to the edge, have the dirt collapse, so scary.... DH and I started discussing the new fence project. I told him I wanted to put it on hold until September. I can always start the project sooner but I have lots going on right now including the last bunch of Audits that need to get done. If the selection process gets out of hand and then I have to get three bids it will be best to wait a couple of months.I am just on the tail end of a mammoth tree and bush pruning, sculpting on and on. Now I have excellent line of sight for rattle snakes and I can MUCH easier get under all of those items to keep them raked etc which is a must for wildfire mitigation. Also they look great! Today I made a list of about thirty small chores and spent much of the afternoon working on them as well as doing my mini home blessing and a load of laundry. I have 14,342 Steps so I was busy all day long and really enjoyed it!
I have a plan for tomorrow and I intend to stick to it! Need to be careful about heat exhaustion as it caused me several days of difficulty. Back to par now--thank goodness!
Sunday - Up and out the door at 6:15 to get my outside chores done before the heat. It was so nice to be out in the cool temps for a while. I worked expensively on a large tree in La Fiesta trimming the branches. Also did more cutting back etc in the recycle enclosure, along Happy Trails, dug out two troughs around the big trees, fixed a fence. All of that took some time. Then I came in the house and went to sleep.
Hope you are having a pleasant evening!!!

Hello,
The fire mitigation, pit dig and fill, sounds like all went well! Great job on that, your steps, pruning and office work!
We had house guests here for two nights, they left this morning. I got a good breakfast made which was to be for both days, they ate one breakfast but none today. This seems to be the way it goes with my sister. She usually has a some agenda I don't know about and when she says she's gonna leave at certain time, that often ends up being up to two hours earlier than what was originally planned.
I have been to the grocery store many times. Sister, friend and I did a shopping trip in my pantry and spice cupboard and we marked all the tops of the spices, condiments and what not with tape so I can bring them back home with me. I've been comunicating with two different parties, separately, about food I'm bringing. Mainly this is because this is food I want to eat. They can eat it too if they want, but I want what I want and I'm not figuring out after I get there. I've prepared many things today, the spread for the ham melt sandwiches, giant pasta salad, boiled eggs, made the deviled egg condiment, a dessert thing, and a dip. I got veggies today and stuff to make salads.
Todo: -I need to make my cooler list for the items that need stay cold enroute and so I don't forget to pack stuff out out of the fridges. -Make the dry goods list of what remains, I've already been setting this stuff aside and I sent some stuff ahead with sister and her friend today. -Need to make a list of grocery costs in case someone (not me) decides that needs to be reviewed.
Tomorrow morning I'll be up early to pack car with the water stuff, coolers, groceries and my bag and then head out. There is a lot to do. I did walk today, and I'm walking again tomorrow with neighbor.

Hope you are having fun!!! Today Clair and I are going to the community college. I have been keeping up with my chores. BBL! We had a great time at the CC! I am not usually chatty with the other handlers since I must keep my focus on my dog but today it worked to chat somewhat which was pleasant. Got my declutter Wednesday items taken care of, my mini Home Blessing and started washing the windows again on the outside since we had a nice dirt storm and then it rained, making the windows look very odd. I managed to start doing my Office work. Walked the dogs a couple of times. 12,034 Steps at the moment. Tuesday - I spent the day working on a very large pile of paper chores, mostly for home. After I get the dogs meds ordered on line I am going to stop for the day. Hooray!!! Wednesday - Excellent day for me. I worked mostly in the K for my Declutter Wednesday project--much progress was made. I set fire to my quad bag because it got on the exhaust pipe when I was cruising around on the property--Wow! shocker on that one. However it was mostly just smoldering and had some small flames when I pulled into my parking area. After beating it on the ground without success I doused it in one of the troughs of the trees I was watering. Later I took some Gorrilla Tape and mended it. Fortunately the items inside did not burn. Did my mini Home Blessing and just stayed busy all day in a very pleasant enjoyable way. Hooray for that!!!
Thursday - I ran errands did all the usual daily tasks at home and that was about it.

Friday - Good day so far. Took the three dogs to get their teeth cleaned. This was so much fun! It wasn't at the vet's but at a private home instead. We all set in the garage while each dog's teeth were cleaned and chatted in the most fun way! Just love therapy dog people. Also the hygenist used to train seeing eye labs and was so complimentary of Clair. Spent the afternoon doing office work.
Saturday - AA and I spent the day working diligently on seven Audits and managed to get them out of my life! I really had to apply myself. Next is--relaxing. Hooray!!!

Hello!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the CC event with Clair! Sound like you're doing great on your chores, decluttering and yard work. Yikes on the quad fire. That could have gone badly wrong! Great work on your audits as well with the AA.
I possibly didn't mention this vacation was almost two weeks as opposed to only one week like last year. I'm home today, started packing last night, loaded my own car with lawn chairs, water toys, coolers, excess food stuff. This morning I loaded those packed things to my vehicle, then got my mom's vehicle and loaded hers. Then I followed driving to her home from that location (out of my way) and unloaded her vehicle, got back in my vehicle and drove the rest of the way home. This was supposed to have been handled by my sibling who's route Mom lives on! So...its 5:20 PM now and I've been unloading, unpacking, running laundry since arriving and think I have most of the situation under control. The vacation....some things went more smoothly than last year, there were new cirucumstances to deal with this year. I'm editing the rest of this, I'm not a saint, but I do end up being the peace keeper and take most of the "stuff" for the lake, so it's a lot. So, I'll think about next year and how to edit down my role reasonably and how not to get the brunt of some problematic behaviors. The lake was wonderful!!!! Thanks for listening.
Sorry I was MIA. I'm home this week, excited to take care of a few things and DH and I have another vacation coming up in 9 days. Whoa!
I hope you're well and staying cool!

Z, That was quite a day! The Chickadee and English Robin are adorable!!!
Quick check in---last night I spent time and got all of my mini Home Blessing done. Up and out the door by 6 this a.m. since it is beyond hot later in the day. Spent over two hours on La Mesa Grande hand watering and also expanded one of the watering troughs for one of the ICU trees. Yikes! on being on my hands and knees cleaning out leaves from one Iris grouping. When I looked down there was a large snake in there. So incredibly glad it wasn't a rattlesnake.
Need to get my Assistant Chef, Clair, out of her comfy recliner and into the K to fix the gourmet meal for the dog gang--then back outside to catch up with my watering chores etc..... BBL
Monday - Got outside at 6:30 to work on my outside chores. Major work was done on the Bee Haven trail so now all the trails and firebreak sections are being kept up magnificiantly. Hooray for that! Also did my watering and beautification of La Fiesta. Got my maintenance work done in Paradisio. Then I worked on getting my part of the remaining three Audits of 12 total that are from the same management company. 14,294 Steps of mostly difficult functional fitness. Now I am on fire watch. The fires are quite a distance away but as we have seen in the past they can travel over great mileage quickly now so tomorrow I will MAKE myself go through my evacuation book so that I am refreshed about the steps that need to be taken.
Hope you are having a pleasant evening!!!

Good Evening!
Yikes on the snake action! Whoa, scary! Great work on your steps, home blessings, steps and audit work! Thanks for the compliments on the birds and other!
After arriving home on Saturday, DD arrived home, and with her stuff, my stuff....the house is somewhat of a disaster zone. But I needed to decompress also! So, I did get some dinner food made, ran two loads of laundry done, hand watering done, a walk in with neighbor this morning. We are to go again tomorrow morning early.
Creative: Decompressing....I decided to work with my Tikis and make needlepoint patterns for 4 of them. This went well. After creating the 4" square and inserting the tiki rectangle, I added waves below, flowers above, and palm trees and sand in a graphic way. This was fun and I think they're cute! THen after completing as a square, I cropped out the corners and got them also into circle form. Why? Well, people could stitch the square which shows more the edges design embellishments if they wanted to finish as a drink coaster. If they don't want a square, the circle is cute too, and just a few adjustements to make that work so 8 more designs, 2 each a circle and square of 4 different tiki faces. I think these offerings are fun, colorful. Then I did a crops/field and white barn picture, and I did the same thing again, a square, then cropped it back into a circle also. So that's 10 more patterns added to my listings. Can you believe I've been working on these things for 6 months now and am nearing 150 designs? Crazy!
I've not taken any calls from anyone I was on vacation with. DD and I went to a movie together, that was kind of fun. Tomorrow I will work on the house in earnest.
Creative again: You know what's funny? Many years ago, like 15 at least, I was attempting to work on mini landscapes, involving barns, on different things. That really didn't work out very well, and I forgot about it. Now I have this new vehicle to put this small ideas into action on and it's very fun.
I hope you're having a good evening!
Z. Tuesday: More barn farm and field designs done. Went to a movie with DD, washed and gassed her car up for a special favor to her this A.M., mailed stuff my sister forgot to take with her home from the vacation, and dropped a food donation box at the fire station today of excess pantry items. Updated an Etsy shop thing. Walked with neighbor this morning. Not much else happened.
Wednesday AM: Got walk in with neighbor, one more barn needlepoint pattern up, also a Valentine's day bear I'd forgotten about. I forgot to say that DD has actually made progress with her clothing, purging, organizing a bit yesterday. I'm not sure what else got accomplished later, but I'm sure it will be apparent soon. Yay! Anything is better than nothing. I had nightmare about making messes all over the floor of a friends home. This is directly related to a few current messes in my own home. But I think today IS the day for home blessings, pick up, put away, laundry day! It is happening!
Got my haircut, swept the kitchen, laundry rebooted x 2, dirty dishes in DW, washed the hand items x2, got DD loaded and off. She did well on the CB of clothing front two BIG piles to donate! Hooray! Also she did well organizing her things for packing for her trip for summer study abroad, intense 3-4 weeks in Australia, so that is good. I seem to be into doing the housework now so will continue with this the rest of the day. I sent a message to neighborhood group about a teen doing some watering while we're gone I'm not sure I'm gonna get a response on that. I've cleared the entry way of stacked carp, things seem to be coming back into order. I've made two meals using up leftovers from vacation! Yay, and CB'd two things from the fridge, moved some other things to the other fridge. Hope your day is going well!

Z, The Tikis look great!!! Great job getting so much done!
Sorry about being MIA. The wildfire smoke puts me over the edge... Things do seem to be rather under control which is great. I have been doing excellently with my weekly yard chores although I cannot get it all done. Such special things as grooming the collie are languishing--just need to keep going and I will even get those items completed. Since I posted last I got all the usuals done plus forged ahead on the Iris clean up. Also trimmed back two bushes and two trees so that there is rattlesnake awareness ability. More went on but no need to talk about that. Have been doing an excellent job on my mini Home Blessings and also add something on each day such as cleaning the baseboards.
Head in Sand department: The fence project is scheduled to be worked on for the rest of this month and August. I looked through the fencing contractors to see if there were a few that had realistic fencing ideas. Seriously this could get insanely expensive due to the size of this yard and also no wood or vinyl can be used. The wood is a fire hazard and the vinyl would melt if a fire got close to the house even though we have a large firebreak that surronds the house. Anyway, DH took a photo of a fence that seems like it will work--attractive as far as rural fencing goes but does not in anyway cut off the view. We have toyed with the idea of just keeping a part of the yard fenced for the dogs and leaving the rest unfenced since the house sits in the middle of 11 acres so having a fence for any kind of privacy is unnecessary. We'll see what happens. Whatever it is I am going to make it happen by the end of August--maybe just the contract but at least I will get this HIS out of my life.
Tomorrow I might go to town to run errands and to pick up the plastic tubs of evacuation items to bring home. I want to go through those since it has been a number of years since I put them in storage. It seems like four, maybe more. Need to make sure we are not going to have anymore dry lightening though. I won't chance leaving the dogs if there might be wildfire close by since we might not be able to get back in the valley. Enough of that stuff!
Maybe I will get involved with a book club kind of thing. Supposedly with a Nature Lover theme. The first book seems like an "Ain't it Awful" in regard to one of our more pressing problems due to climate change. I prefer something that focuses on solutions rather than lists problems. I did however find just the perfect book that DOES focus on solutions. I think it would be fun to add this to the book discussion. Stay Positive!
Congrats! on getting your hair cut. Me too--but I did it myself again today. Actually I do a fairly good job having practiced a lot during the Pandemic.
Thursday - Another "lost in space" day for me. I did manage to get Clair's and my application for the school district delivered today. Not too sure about doing therapy visits with misbehaving grammar school children but I have gotten quite good at controlling the unruly university ones who want to have Clair kiss their faces etc. All of these things are taken in the most calm and serene manner imaginable by both me and the dog. Ha Ha. I did get my email for the Stay Pawsitive event dates at the university today. These are my favorites--lots of other therapy dogs and they are regulars so we we all know each other. Tomorrow is another day! Today is behind me.
DH brought home the big plastic tubs with the evacuation items in them so I will be able to go through them and make sure all is OK and possibly delete some items because I have a feeling I over prepared considering there are four of them. Also need to make sure all is safe and sound.
Hope you are enjoying your evening!!!
