Ginny, I'm glad you're having great weather. Enjoy while it's here And thank you. Yes I had to increase a whole lot to get this sling wide enough and increased for the length too. Then of course I had to revise the decreasing part to match where I increased. I'm really learning a lot about crocheting. I thought I knew a lot about it but I'm learning more and more and I make more things. I've decided to make little blankets for the dolls to be bundled in inside the slings.I forgot my glasses downstairs in the bedroom so am having a hard time seeing but don't want to wake dh to get them. Plus my computer keeps doing strange thinngs. If i pause for a second while typing the cursor goes back into the middle of a previous sentence and I end up tying in the middle of a work way back. So guess I'll go do some more organizing I did go thru the toys yesterday and found some that I'll send to my youngest grandson, some to donate and some to see if my soon to be 12 year old dgs that lives here in town wants. I also have a while bunch of stuffed animals that I think I'll send to the dgds. Maybe ddil won't be happy with a ton of stuffed animals coming into their house but the kids will love it....until they have to clean their rooms and pick them all up See you all later and have a great day

Good afternoon everyone,
Ginny, I hope you have been able to sleep late and have time to relax.
I did sleep in this morning but DS and I went to Lowes to look at dryers. They had a lot on the floor to choose from. We decided on a Maytag, made in America. It will be delivered tomorrow which suits me fine. When we bought the refrigerator recently at Home Depot we had to wait a few days for delivery. I hope we don't have to replace any more appliances for awhile.
Ruth, I hope you get the sling worked out and I am sure you will come up with something better than the original pattern. When I was in Ireland my niece had me repair her favorite bear and make him some clothes. I managed to fix him so that he didn't fall apart and hopefully lasted s few more years. My niece is now in college so has probably put the bear away somewhere.
I did get my slipper boot back together and I should finish the first one today.
Now I am off to unload the dishwasher. I will check back later.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I've had cool weather for the last few days too, but now it's going to be in the 90s for the next week to 10 days! I'm not looking forward to that. I did get my car's AC repaired today and it seemed to be working well on my drive home. I'll have to take the car out on one of these hot days and make sure it works then too. It will be nice to sleep later tomorrow, getting up before 6:00 A.M. is not easy after almost 3 years retirement Hope everyone is having fun doing some crafting. Take care!

Meg, I'm glad to hear that you found a dryer that you liked and will get it fast. and great work in getting those slippers back in progress
CJ it's going to be in 90's here to all next week.Weekend will still be fairly cool. I'm sure you're glad to have the ac working now that the hot weather is back in your area.
I got the first sling done. I wasn't sure how long the strap needed to be but I decided that it's better if it's too long Ibecause it can be pinned up where if it's too short it wouldn't be of much use. DDIL says only two of the girls play with dolls the 5 yr old and the 10 yr old. She says the 8 year old doesn't but I'm going to make three anyway and send three dolls just in case when she sees them she wants one after all. Otherwise the other two can share the third one.I plan to concentrate on baby things for dgd who is expecting her first in beginning of August.
This Friday, being "finish it" Friday my plan is to work on some of the baby blanket edging. I have about 8 blankets to do edging for. We'll see how these plans work out

Meg, glad you were able to find a dryer, one that will be delivered quickly and you got a good deal on.
Ruth, you are far braver than I am with a crochet book than I am! Glad you are able to find ways to redistribute the old toys.
CJ, oh no......10 days of hot! Yuck. That will feel awful after this cooler weather .
Hi to Phyl.
Got some embroidery time in. Have not slept late all week , getting up at 6 daily

Good morning Ginny and all who come in later.
It's a much cooler day here today and it's getting really windy so the thunderstorm they predicted must be on the way. Sometimes they don't amount to much
I finally got my beads today. I couldn't remember where I ordered from but they were shipped from China so that's what took so long. Now I can finish that tomorrow too...the cupcake purse that is...on finish it Friday. I never did get any crafting done yesterday except well for downloading 22 more patterns from Craftsy. A couple are doll clothing that I think I can adapt to fit these cabbage patch kids. And there are some really cute booties to make for my new dggd that will be here soon. Most people don't use booties and most won't stay on baby's feet so I'm making some that have a snugger top and I'll get some socks to go under them. And come to think of it, I have a package of baby socks that I got years ago to crochet ruffles on but never got to it so I'll have to do it this time and give those to dgd too....need to add to my list so I don't forget. Today...make the other sling and a couple doll blankets. Maybe a couple hats for the dolls.
So better go get started.
Have a great day all and I'll see you later

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - It's really nice that you have so many projects that you can work on, I'm sure it makes it more fun. Ginny - Glad you are getting in some embroidery. Meg and Phyl - Hope you are getting some crafting in. I didn't do any crafting today, I spent some time looking through old photographs we have. One of my siblings was looking for a photograph that has both my parents and all the siblings in it. It was really difficult to find any, I actually only found 2 and my youngest sibling wasn't over 2 years old in them. It made me realize that it's important to take those family pictures when you can, because you never know when a member will be gone. There are lots of pictures of our family after my mother passed away, but then it's too late to have the complete family in the picture. Take care everyone!

CJ, I don't think there was ever a picture of my while family together.I have a lot of old family pics but there's never been one taken that has my parents and all my sibs in one picture. When my son was last here we got several great pics of my dh and I and the two kids. Only 3 of the grandkids were around so they're the only grands in the pics but it's great to have the ones of us with ds and dd. And yes, with digital cameras and phone cameras I would advise the young people to take as many pics as they can because, as you said, not everyone will be around forever.I love that most churches now have a photographer take pictures of each individual family. I've been the happy recipient of several from my ds and ddil with all the children.

Hello everyone,
It was hot & sunny today. I was out for a little while this morning. I stayed home in the afternoon and did some reading and worked on my slipper boots. They will be finished soon. I got very sleepy this afternoon. I didn't sleep well last night so I guess that didn't help. I am really beginning to feel my age, Tomorrow I have an apt. with surge9on who will remove my cataract.
My new dryer was installed this afternoon and I think I will like it just fine.
Phyl, I bought a Maytag this time. The one I just got rid of was a GE and had to replace the panel where the dials are several times. We had it a few years and it was time for it to go. Those bags you mentioned sound interesting and I am sure they are very pretty. LOL, I can just see you loading one of those huge washers. I am short so I would have to climb on something.
Ruth, we went to Lowe's because they promised delivery the next day. Also they had a large selection of dryers. It was a toss between a Samsung or a Maytag so I decided to go with the Maytag because it was American made . I had an e-mail from Red Heart today. They have a factory in the US where they make yarn. I wasn't aware of that. I notice a lot of our yarn comes from Turkey and other places. England used to make a lot of yarn but they don't any more. I like to support American workers. I would love to see all the doll clothes you are going to make.
cj, it is nice to get the old photographs out and look through them.
Ginny, Getting up at 6a.m. will give you a good start to the day. Early morning is probably the best part of the day. I hope you are starting to enjoy your summer break.
I need to think about going to bed. sleep well everyone.

Phyl, I didn't see your post earlier and it was there because CJ's was there. The bags sound interesting but, like you, I don't need any more bags. I'm kind of a tote bag collector. I've been meaning to make some anyway though but do have a long list already. For Easter my ds and ddil gave the three oldest girls bag patterns for sewing. The got candy too but ddil thought they would like to make some bags and their home schooled so this can be some of their schooling probably. I'm going to have my dgd show me how to do that thing on the bottom where you fold the little triangles to make a rectangle bottom when she's here in Sept.
Meg, I imagine I'll have to get a new dryer soon. I've had my present one for a very long time now. I wasn't so lucky with the washer. I've had to replace that twice since I bought that washer and dryer. And I'll never get another GE appliance. The only reason I don't buy at Lowe's is because we don't have one here. I used to buy all my appliances at Sears because it was pretty much the only option but then they opened Home Depot and Menards and I like that Home Depot delivers free although I have not bought a large appliance from them yet. I looked for my stove and fridge there but there was no salesperson to be seen so we went over to Menards. I had the fridge 13 months before it bit the dust.
Reply put me on page one so again I dont remember what else I was going to say.Oh one thing was that I had a coworker who always preferred day shift. I preferred night shift so that's what we did. Day shift started at 6am so when she worked she got up at 4:30. On her days off she "slept in" till 6am. Sounds like what you do Ginny. I always laughed when she said that because that's not my idea of sleeping in at all.I'm definitely a night owl.
CJ, I like to have a few projects in progress at one time because I get bored working on one but lately I've been trying to finish each one as I go so that I don't add to my stack of UFO's.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today.
Today is the first day of our heatwave, so I'm staying in to stay cool. I'm not motivated to do any crafting in this hot weather, so I can imagine you won't be hearing much from me about what I'm doing this Summer - at least craftwise
Meg - Glad to hear you got your dryer and it seems to be working well. We used to always buy our appliances at Sears.
Ginny - Hope you had a nice time on your trip and a safe trip home.
Phyl - Glad you enjoyed the guild meeting, even if you are a little poorer now Bags are really the thing right now in quilting, I see patterns for them everywhere.
Ruth - It's too bad you don't have a full family picture, I sure wish I had more than I do. We had a big family reunion about 8 years ago and had a photographer come and do a lot of photos, so it's nice to gave them. Of course, my mother isn't in any of them, but the whole rest of the family is.
Take care everyone!

Prayers for safe travel Ginny. I hope it was a good trip. And speaking of saying it online about being gone, one of the ladies on the old ww board one time posted under her own full real name and mentioned she was a single woman living alone then she posted her address right on the board because the people that lived near her were all going to go to her home to get together. Later she posted that she would be gone from her home for a month while having surgery and rehab. Fortunately no one broke in or anything. My neighbors who are supposed to be very intelligent people put on facebook under the woman's full name including maiden name, told where they live and posted last summer about being gone the whole summer and again this year posted their trip to PR to their son's beach wedding there. It would be very easy for someone to look up their address. They also kind of advertise that they have valuables. How dumb can someone be. CJ, well crafting or not we really enjoy seeing you on here so don't stop. Meg, I hope you're having a good day too and getting some rest Phyl, I bet you're busy as usual. YOu do have a good time. Haven't started crafting for the day yet...finishing things. I still have the kitchen to clean and laundry to do so will do that first. Of course this came before any of those So better get busy. See you all later

Good evening! Indeed we are home, and happy to be so. It was a lovely trip- even with some shaky weather. Most daytime highs were in the mid 60's, nights in the mid 40's. Unseasonably cool- but all in all a good week. And Ds came home a day early- which helped with the care of our feline family members- and it also left me free to mention that we were gone....as I knew our house was no longer empty.
CJ- please stop in a visit here with us, even if you do not craft as much! I think we all gain inspiration from each other- and enjoy hearing from each other. Hey, when does your car get repaired? Stay cool.....
Ruth, glad those beads arrived finally!! So now you will be making booties too! You are so creative.
Ok it just hit me that i am tired. Off to get some rest....Hi to Meg and Phyl. See everyone tomorrow. Ginny
