People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

Nothing much going on today. Groceries and haircut this afternoon. Maybe laundry or might wait until tomorrow.

Good morning. Wow is it Thursday already?
We did just come home and eat something here. We sat and talked. Shirley (our neighbor) was tired but so relieved the surgery went well and it’s over.
They insist on paying for everything and we will drop her off at the hospital and get some groceries without saying anything.
Gail I’m glad you are finding those treasures. It’s a job only you can do as you know what’s “valuable”.
Karen funny you went to the wrong restaurant and laughed. You’re all banged up, you’d better take it easy for a bit. Hey we want a picture of the new hair.
Geri keep up the exercise and walking. I saw pics of your DGSs and they are so adorable. That’s just a great age.
Waving to all. Sharon

Good Morning!
Just a quick hello!
Gail, You go through a lot of emotional ups and downs when going through all of your stuff that meant so much to keep. Once you get it done and have pared it down you will feel so much lighter.
Jane, I didn't realize Jeff lived near Dayton. My daughter, Michelle, lived in Miamisburg for several years before moving to Florida. Glad he was safe from the storms.

Greetings: I got up and walked into the kitchen this morning before I realized I could walk standing up without pain. Wow! What a feeling! I'm still off any exercise. I go back tomorrow. One thing I notice, I nibble more when I'm not exercising. I'd forgotten that but it's coming back! Gotta curb those urges. I hope I can get further into the day before it starts aching again.
Sharon, I'd post a picture now and then but I've not been successful in posting on this site. Early on I tried but just didn't do something right. But the haircut isn't anythng new, it's just shorter. Those treatments she uses have really made my hair nice together with the shampoo. I'm using what she recommended on my first visit. It really lasts, but I only wash my hair twice a week now.
Gail, I'd hope you didn't throw away those letters.
Have a good day all.

Good morning all.
We have more rain in the forecast for today but it should dry out tomorrow and stay that way for the next week. The poor farmer's are so far behind getting their crops in the ground. I hope they'll be able to catch up next week.
Nothing exciting going on today...just my typical Thursday routine. Tomorrow I have to be up by 4am so we can leave at 5am to get DH to the hospital for his procedure. If all goes as planned, I'll be able to go pick him up Saturday.
Gail, when we moved I had 20 yrs of memories to go through. It was fun to relive some of them but sometimes very bittersweet as well. Good luck with the move.

good morning
I think I am in a better mood today so hope that lasts.
Ruth I lived in Dayton from the time I was 6 and Jeff lives in the house my parents built when I was 15. so I consider Dayton my home and taught in the Dayton schools for 31 years. Where Jeff works is considered Miamisburg and they love a little movie house in Miamisburg and the hamburger truck was a favorite place of mine to get a hamburger and there is/was a shop in Miamisburg where I used to buy line dancing shirts. I still have money in a credit union in Miamisburg and for 5 years I dated a man who lived there (and considered marriage which we never could agree on ---thankful for that escape)
Vicki I hope your DH has an easy time with his procedure.
Karen I only had one massage in my life and it hurt me so that I never had another. So hope you are feeling better.
Sharon You and Geri are just the kind of neighbors I wish I had.
time for breakfast and make the effort to get out of the house today.

Vicki I sympathize with the 4 am early rise. We all went to bed early last night and slept like logs. Best get well wishes for your DH.
We will go back to the hospital soon to meet up with Shirley and go with her to lunch in the hospital. Hopefully today Burns will be moved from ICU to a room. This has been a taxing trip for Don and I but they have no one else and they are our friends.
Maybe we’ll hit a book store or goodwill later.

Sharon What a blessing you and Don are to your neighbor. I know what it is to not have anybody and it is tough.
Jeff has taken a few days off work to put up a fence and the pictures on Facebook have really impressed his mother (me) I can't believe he could do a picket fence on his own. He never even had a father who showed him how to hold a hammer.
I have been busy all morning and got a lot of the line dance stuff sorted but not done yet. I didn't realize what a big job I was getting into and probably be another 3 hours of work to get it organized so that I have the ability to find something I am looking for. I wish I knew how to do a spreadsheet because that might work. I have about 3000 songs on my computer and when I use one for line dance I put it on a CD and so a CD ends up with 20 or so songs and of course the same song can be on several CDs. Just a mess! So off to iTunes to see if I can find the CD that I have no label on and get it labeled. How could I have been so careless.

Jane, You are going to feel so accomplished when your line dance organization is done! What a task! I am also one who cannot prepare a spreadsheet. Mike prepares them for me for my yoga (I tell him what I need and he does it) and I use it as a template. Maybe Jeff could do that for you the next time he is in town. BTW, did you ever eat at Marion's Piazza (a pizza place in Dayton). It was one of our fav's and we always went there when I came into town to see my DD. It was a thin crust square pizza and so YUMMY!
Karen, Glad you are no longer in pain. I am another one who tends to nosh when I am sitting too much (or not exercising). Wonder why? Probably boredom, in my case.

Ruth The last meal I ever had in Dayton was at Marion's pizza. Now you have really made me miss it. But I got the round one with the tiny pieces and all that good stuff on it. Also the pretzels sandwiches there were great. I am sure you are talking about the one by the Dayton Mall. There are others and one is very close to where the tornado hit. Another is not so far from where Jeff lives.
I have done all the organizing I can with these CDs which doesn't mean I can find a certain song but I can find a certain CD So from now on I will list the CD on the step sheet and not just the name of the music. That will help. But I have to admit that my organization is really very "different" . No one else would ever understand it. And I finally just kind of gave up on some of them and labeled the shelf dances from Patty, Fran, Carol and others--that took care of about 50 of the CDs. those were made for me by other line dance teachers so free music. Also I threw all the tangos, cha chas, polkas, waltzes , circle dances and Irish ones in together and gave up on them I saved myself a lot of work doing it that way so a different kind of organization. when I went on iTunes I immediately found the label for the CD that had none---labeled Jane's dances---how easy was that !! It had 20 songs on that CD.
Gee I wish I had a Marion's pizza.

Jane, Yes, it was the Marion's by the Dayton Mall. Me, too, I wish I had a Marion's pizza As long as you can understand how you have organized your line dance music, that is all that matters. Good job!

Hello. Left early this morning to meet for our senior trip. We were about 2 1/2 hours away at a safari/zoo. We stopped for lunch at a very southern country home style restaurant for lunch. All food was good and tasted homemade. The zoo was fun as we rode in an open bus where the animals could come right up and you could feed them. They knew the routine and rollowed the bus. Lots of different animals and many young or just born babies.
Came home and checked on the dogs and then off to Chick Fil A to meet DGS and Jeanne for a quick dinner. He is now at her house, but will come back to spend the night with me. We are watching Harry Potter movies. He has read all the books. Yesterday I taught him how to play Yatzee. We both enjoyed that and he won so there was no second game.
Tomorrow he and I are going to Nashville to pick up DGS #1 and then home to get the puppy and take him to the vet's office where he will be going on a weekend visit to see if he fits with her parents and their dog. Afternoon with the boys and then at 5:30 we will set up for my craft bazaar. Probably dinner with Jeanne afterwards. Saturday morning I will get up early to go to the craft show and the boys will be with Jeanne. John is going home in the afternoon or evening. Bazaar will be over by 2:00 and I will break down and cart everything back home. It will be different to go home to a puppy-less home. He has been with me for two months and has grown from 2 lbs to 7.5 lbs. He is such a bundle of energy. I will miss him, but also be glad to get back to my sleeping pattern and not worry about getting up early to let him out.

Geri What a busy day / weekend you have. I know you will miss the puppy.
A friend that I played cards with has posted picture on Facebook of some of the tornado damage in Dayton area. She is showing pictures of a new shopping center that wasn't even there when I left and it really had a lot of damage and so much weather damage is going on all over the world. So many things to feel sad about. I need to remember to cherish each day.
I went out for an early dinner to Perkins --another of their strawberry meals and then to Costco where I managed to spend $90 when I went in for 4 things and got 8. But no junk or bakery items so that was good. And the toothbrushes I need for my electric brush were not on sale so I didn't get them. I still have one new one left so will watch for them to be on sale. The heads come 8 in a package and I think I have always got them on sale. But I am all set with Kelcy's chicken since I bought a 10 pound bag of chicken breast. the store wasn't crowded and it was 4:00 so will try to remember to go at that time but with the snowbirds gone I don't think it matters so much now. I did not buy a rotisserie chicken.
I will have to take 2 hours to watch a movie tomorrow and get it to the library. I can't seem to get caught up with this library stuff. The movie is the one about Ruth Bader Ginsburg so I want to see it.
goodnight!
