A Monday and Tax Day. Someone posted on TwitterX: Rise and whine! 😂😂😂
The Beatles: “If you drive a car, I'll tax the street/If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat/If you get too cold I'll tax the heat/If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet"

The shrimp tacos turned out great. Iggy made a cocktail sauce, so for one taco I did a hybrid, shrimp tacotail with the cocktail sauce, avocado, diced green onions and diced tomatoes. It was dee-licious. The focaccia didn’t rise as much as usual even though I bloomed the yeast before using and it was good. I thought it wouldn’t be as good but it turned out better tasting if a little dense. We did a sort of antipasto with mozzarella, tomato, olives, roasted red pepper and thin slices of roasted zucchini. Yum! Today. Leftovers.
Karen, how were the muscles before and after class? I hope you have a clear drive for the MG meeting. No shoots from the beans yet. Good to hear you’re getting some fruit finally.
Kathy, our maple tree is leafing out, but nothing from the ash tree yet. Iggy is worried about it. Hopefully, the emerald ash borer hasn’t got to it.
Linda, hosting is a tough job when you’re as diligent as you are. We just take them grocery shopping when they get here. We are not good hosts.😂
The yard finally dried out after two warm sunny days, so Iggy mowed. The blackbirds squawked the whole time and the bluejay dive bombed him.

That food sure sounds good.
hope your ash tree is ok. Maybe the weather confused it!
yeah, maybe we are too nice as hosts. She’s like a daughter , but..
we used to have a guest room, but now DH needs it with a sleep number bed that raises head, Walker at night, etc. so we have to do a lot for a guest to make a bedroom out of a comouter room full of DH's junk.
Today moved DH's stuff from two bathroom drawers to my bathroom after juggling my stuff So dsil has space. He still has to move his meds.that should be the last of it. Lot of work that is now very hard on us,
He takes his laptop and we have to get everything back to normal eight days later.
He is tired all the time from other health issues and effects of meds.
We said ok, make your reservation for the plane before we knew one is about to have knee surgery , other fractured a vertebrae two months ago. I would not complain, but this is the third time in 12 months she used gift cards for plane and then has no expenses except paying g for dinner one evening or purchasing something to bring home. We love her, but It has gotten to be her vacation too often. we have no place left to take her that she has not sen or wants to visit except overnight trips.
I just cannot do the walking now. It almost killed me when both sisters were here in October because the older one will not see us again back there and there are wortied after DH's cancer came back and he had a new treatment.
a friend of hers is maybe during her to Sedona for a fast day trip (a good 7 hours of is driving if no road issues) ..but maybe not since their son came home from overseas with depression.
About to make the chicken and dumplings for tomorrow, a comfort food favorite..my last cooking!
Going to have to have a talk if this happens really soon again.she does not realized how hard it is. thanks for letting me vent.

Thanks for the start, Chele. The Beatles offered us so many classics. The accountant got behind and hasn't finished our taxes so we'll be filing for an extension. Fortunately, they think we'll be getting a refund, so the IRS isn't too picky about that situation. Oh, I hope your ash tree is ok. I wouldn't worry about it for a few more weeks. Sometimes they will leaf out late due to environmental conditions. Did you notice it thinning out last year? Has it had some dead limbs recently? Have you noticed woodpeckers attacking the bark? If you haven't noticed any of those things, chances are it's just a late bloomer this year. Muscles were sore overnight but not too bad in class. That could change, however, given that she had us doing some pretty funky things today. Iggy's mowing adventure sounds quite active. Wonder why the bluejay was bombing. They tend not to be the friendliest birds, but I wonder if there was a nest close by. The shrimp tacos sound fabulous. Did he grill the shrimp? Did you get the shrimp from the fish store?
Linda, I hope you're feeling more energetic today and the side effects from the jab have disappeared. I hope DSIL gets there ok. It's scary what cognitive side effects some of those meds have. Was she able to get a direct flight or does she need to make a connection somewhere? I hope she got back with you regarding your questions. Does the special variety of tea she drinks come in bags that she could stow in her carryon? DMIL always complained when DFIL's relatives came to visit them. They always had a list of foods they wanted her to make (she was a great cook), so she barely got time to enjoy the visit for all the extra work it caused her. But she never complained to them (just us). It's difficult when you aren't used to sharing a bathroom when you have to for guest convenience. With her health issues, it's possible that she won't be able to make that many more trips. You'll just have to stand firm on what you and Bob can and (especially) cannot do right now. Like you said, a lot has happened since she made her reservation. I've actually thought about suggesting that we turn the guest bedroom into a music studio for Dale so we wouldn't be able to accommodate overnight guests.
Have you caught up on Elsbeth, Kathy? Our current temperature is 80, so I'm afraid you might be in the 90s. Sorry. Dale took the kayak out today and saw that our turtles are back. Yay!
The drive for MG tonight should be nice, at least weather wise. Mondays are usually the quietest tourist days here, so I hope not to have much traffic going or coming. If it wasn't for the plant sale being this weekend, I might not even go tonight. I didn't sleep that well due to a puppy chasing something in her dreams. Every time I started to doze off, she kicked me. Class kept me awake, but I had intended to take a power nap this afternoon and that didn't happen. Dinner for all of us will be earlier today due to having to leave for the meeting.

Chele, I'm glad to have taxes out of the way for another year and happy to see that my refund already showed up. Lol on the Beatle song. Your shrimp tacos sound great. Hope the ash tree is okay. One year my oak tree leafed out a few weeks later than my neighbor's tree. I was worried about it, but it turned out to be fine. Ouch on the bluejay! They can be aggressive.
Linda, feel free to vent here anytime. That is a lot to expect of you, but maybe she's unaware of how hard it is for you. My aunt and uncle used to come down here every winter and use my parent's home as their home base. They would stay for weeks, I don't think they realized how hard it was for my dad to have them there for that long while he was working. A week or two would've been fine, but it was usually at least six weeks.
Karen, I caught up on Elsbeth this weekend. Have you seen the last episode yet? I thought it was pretty good and had to laugh at the final scene. It's still nice today with a high in the low 80s. The temps start climbing higher each day this week. I will miss the cooler mornings. Yay for the turtles being back! They must shelter somewhere when the water is colder and lower. I think a lot of tourists come in there on Friday and leave on Sunday. I know when we've stayed for a week or more, the weekdays were much less crowded.

Are the turtles a good sign of spring? glad, Karen, that you were not too sore.
We had blue jays in the pines nearby back east who would swoop down on people to close to their tree. Mouthy too!
You are right. She may not be able to travel between meds, the foot/ankle pain after two surgeries with regression and possible brain surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia. Maybe that's why she comes now.
I was actually ok today as long as I rested a lot between things. Got the chicken dinner done and oven ready which just leaves cooking precut frozen carrots tomorrow. We have Costco's crusted tilapia filets that have Mexican flavor tonight with a couple leftover potato onion pierogies and leftover veg.
also made cooked chocolate pudding from the revised 1934 Hersey's cookbook. Have not had it in years. Soooo good.
