Good morning all!
Just want to get us started. Hope everyone had a good night. My friend is bouncing back from her stroke. Headed to rehab and most functions have returned except vision- which is half in one eye.
I’ll check in later.

Hello all! I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
Judy - I am glad to hear your friend is doing better. If someone is treated for stroke within 3 hours, the chance of full recovery is much better. Sue - please drop into the cafe when you can and let us know how your DH is doing. I know you are probably quite busy at the moment.
On Thursday I had my first private Pilates class to start getting back into the swing of things. I was doing an exercise on my side on a small exercise ball when I felt a pop in my right rib cage. It hurt like the devil, but I was able to finish the other exercises. After I got back home it was hurting pretty bad so I sent a message to my doctor in MyChart. I had lunch then went to a hospice inservice training. It was just getting started when the doctor's office called. I had to go pick up orders then go to the hospital for an x-ray and then back to the office. I was thankful he could see me because he is off on Fridays. The x-ray did not show a break, but he said I could have a hairline fracture or simply a sprain. One would mean it will take a few weeks to recover or only a week or so for the other. I spent most of Friday laying around and it has greatly improved with only naproxen for the pain, so I am hopeful I will be able to do another private class on Tuesday.
Today we helped Debbie and her husband at the village car show. It was successful with 51 vehicles entered. They raised almost $3000 which will be donated to Tunnels to Towers. It got a little warm in the afternoon, but otherwise, the weather was perfect. Thunderstorm is moving in tonight, so we were lucky.
DD2 came to dinner and brought Abby along. We had a pork loin roast stuffed with crawfish cornbread, parmesan potatoes, green beans and blackeyed peas. We sold out all the jambalaya at the car show so skipped lunch. We were really hungry for dinner!
DD2 was so worried about being laid off at the end of the year. She was proud to report she got a bonus and a raise. We're so happy for her. With her recent purchase of a house, steady employment is a must.
My side is still sore and all the car show activity took it's toll. I'm looking forward to an early bedtime. Sweet dreams to all!

Hi friends,
Pam, so good to read your update. Thanks for the encouraging words on my friend and her stroke. She made my day last night by calling me from the ICU and she sounded just like herself. All her speech and humor is good which is a great sign. She has to remain in ICU for a couple days during further testing – MRIs etc., because she has no feeling in her left leg and only partial vision in one eye. She is feeling hopeful that with rehab, she will be fully recovered. Hopefully she will be transferred soon. She was singing the Amy Winehouse "I'm Going to Rehab" song. She wound up having both a slight stroke and a brain bleed but her DH noticed that something was off. She was making no sense, and he reacted quickly by getting her to the ER. Also, Pam, so sorry about the slight fracture in the rib. Sounds painful, but glad it will heal fairly quickly. Darn...we try to exercise and be healthy and these setbacks happen. Also, the car show sounded very profitable and fun!
Pam, congrats to your DD2 with a promotion and a bonus despite the rumors of layoffs. She is clearly a valued employee and must feel so relieved having bought a house recently. You must be proud.
Our DS and DDIL called for a long chat yesterday. They were on their way to take the kids to a beautiful tulip festival in NJ. When they got home from their outing, they saw that a large tree had fallen in their back yard, but they lucked out. It missed their new shed by a few feet. A year ago, another tree fell and landed smack dab on their new wooden swing set so they were relived on this one.
DH and I ventured out to dinner last night for a lobster roll. It was my first real outing other than a haircut in nearly THREE weeks. Ugh. I am finally coming around and he is doing pretty good, too. I cannot believe how hard this virus hit us.
I am still really enjoying reading Horse – they are all over LA, Pam, and in Natchez, MS, NOLA and more. Did you read it? Geraldine Brooks is a great writer.
Sue, I am thinking about you and your DH a lot, and I know you must be terribly busy caring for him. I hope when you have a moment, you can send us an update. Hope he is doing much better and that you’re getting some rest.
Today is going to be quiet. I wanted to go back to my mom’s former church, but not quite up to it yet. Maybe next week…Resting has proven to be the best way to get over this and I add in short walks to the beach with Daisy. Fresh air and rest make a big difference. I have a spinach and tomato/mushroom quiche in the oven now for breakfast in a bit. DH has been a good grocery shopper and less impulsive than me. 😊
Have a good day.

Hello WW Friends ~
I haven't been able to write for a few days because I was in the hospital. Last Tuesday I took DH to see our PCP and we all talked and decided to send DH to the ER. His oxygen level was alarmingly low. While the office manager wanted to order him home oxygen, he wanted to find out WHY! We later found out he had The Flu also.
On Thursday morning I woke up and was having very distressing sleep/dreams and knew I was in trouble, but there was no one here. I got weak and sat down on the bathroom floor, then couldn't get back up. I tried and tried, but my legs wouldn't cooperate. My phone was out in the living room and I could hear it ringing, but couldn't get to it to answer it.
Shortly I began hearing knocking (banging) on my door, front then side, then finally someone came in the kitchen door. I had opened the garage earlier to look for DH's truck, and fortunately I left it open. In came my principal and school nurse. They all became alarmed when I didn't show up for work and no one had heard from me. Anyway, they called out who they were and then came to find me (in the hallway).
In pretty short order they had moved me and told me we WERE going to the hospital and called Waterford Fire & Rescue to come to transport me. I was taken to the ER and later admitted. While I was there, the neurologist discontinued my Lipitor which resulted in diminishing my leg pain and weakness, they found I was dehydrated so started replenishing that. The next day they tested me and found that I had The Flu. All agreed that the combination would be more than enough to cause my weakness and confusion. By Saturday the neurologist deemed me fit for discharge, so I had a GF pick me up and bring me home.
Meanwhile, I suggested testing to DH and sure enough, he also has The Flu! Our PCP came in to visit and mentioned he has felt under the weather all week, so he got tested, and he also has it.
I am very glad to be back home and sleeping in my own bed. I do miss DH because we have barely seen each other this month of April (he went on the 3rd for carotid endartarectomy). I would have liked to go down and visit him today but I just don't feel well enough. I am tired, weak and just in general miserable. I am unpacked and settled in and after a good night's sleep and a hot shower, much improved. I see a lot of rest in my future. I also don't feel steady enough to drive the distance to the hospital, let alone the long walk from the parking lot. I find myself much improved day to day, so maybe later in the week?
BBL. Make a great day!

Hello again,
Oh my gosh, Sue. I just had a feeling that things were not okay when we didn’t see you for a few days, but so glad to hear that you are home recovering after that terrible ordeal with the flu. Thank God for your Principal and School nurse. You are such a valued part of that school and it’s so good to know how much they cared in trying to make sure you were okay. That’s a good place to work, for sure. I am so sorry you went through everything on top of your DH’s issues. I am sure the stress of his hospitalization did not help your own bout with the flu. You must have been so tired and run down to begin with when you got sick. Hugs...
Yes, I believe that possibly DH and I had the flu, too, with our symptoms and respiratory distress, fatigue, dizziness, etc. It has lasted me nearly three weeks. I wasn’t tested for it but am still tired. My DH has not been doing well, either. He has been sleeping on and off all day today and very little appetite. So worrisome. But, I am relieved, Sue, to hear that you will take time to rest and recover. I know you miss your DH, but it’s good for the two of you to take whatever time you need to feel up to par. I can see where going to the hospital is exhausting – walking around those places and parking, etc. Take your time… thinking of you and I hope someone can bring you some soups and good food to gain your strength back.
I made a big pot of Black bean soup today because my DH loves it, but he has little appetite and had about a cup. He thinks it is one of the new meds they have him on and is going to check with the doctor tomorrow.
Just wanted to check in and offer a BIG virtual hug, Sue. My thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. Xoxo
