.we had a really good Mexican dinner nearby last night. I ate too much, which is unusual for me lately. I gained 11 pounds last summer and early fall from sitting with foot/ ankle injury. I finally got rid of second pound this week.
She is being picked up by another friend for a morning walk at the community college rose garden and I hope to go to a nice crepe cafe for lunch. She really likes crepes. After that, no idea yet.

Linda, congratulations on losing a pound. Enjoy the crepe lunch. I hope you find something non-strenuous to do afterwards.
Karen, I hope all is going well with the plant sale. I hope youâre not still sore and that the temps are warmer than they are here.
Kathy, we donât fry at home but if he is out with friends he always ends up with something fried. I have heard that Benjamin Franklin quote before and whole heartedly agree with it.
The leg has been feeling better when I wake up the last couple of days. I was feeling like a needed a walker for awhile. As well as standing for awhile, it hurts walking after 15 minites. It is worse at night when I am lying down on my back but better on my right side.
It was 42° when we left for the market. I had on a sweatshirt and my light autumn coat. I wore my New Balance walking shoes and that seemed to help the leg not feel so bad. I guess itâs time to ditch the Kuru walking shoes. They are a few years old and I wore them mostly at home on the bike and treadmill, but I guess they donât have the support I need any more.
I got a pair of Clark Cloud Walker sandals, I have been wearing at home for the past couple of days and I think they are helping reduce the pain level as well. They come in a wide width and these have velcro straps near toes and near ankles. Being able to tighten and loosen as needed feels really good.
We got a pretty good haul from YS: arugula, carrots, radishes, beets, mixed greens. We stopped at the bread tent, âTwo Fools for Boules,â and picked up a sourdough baguette and a fougasse, a Provençal flat bread. We tried a recipe we found for fougasse and it did not turn out so well, so until we find the right recipe, we get it at the market.

Lot of good stuff! Wonder what you did to set off that leg. Good support improves most stuff, doesn't it.?

Chele, wow on the 42°! We're barely getting into the 60s at night. We were into the 90s today, but it's dropped back into the 80s now. Glad the leg is doing a little better and that you found some shoes that work for you. Nice haul from YS!
Linda, glad the crepes were good. Enjoy the pizza!
Karen, hope the plant sale is going well and that you're not too sore.

The lunch stayed with us. Nobody wanted more than a slice of pizza.
Poor dsil..had a good day until we sat in the patio a while. It set off allergies in sinus which set off an attack of facial nerve pain. She took meds and went to bed. Now she thinks she has a uti. So first thing, getting meds at pharmacy tomorrow. She has something for kidney stones, but the OTC stuff for bladder pain is better for that.maybe urgent care if it really is. Not fun to fly home with Tuesday.

Thanks for the start, Chele. What a haul from YS, and what a clever name for the bread bakers. So much easier to get your fougasse from a place that bakes it well so you don't have to. What's on the menu for the week to go with the fougasse? What a chilly morning you had for your trip. I hope you warmed up a little this morning. We're sitting at 48, so not exactly warm here either. You got your money's worth out of those Kurus. I hope you will enjoy the new Clarks as much. The extra padding should help a bit with pain relief. Good to hear that you're making progress, even though you're basically self-treating at the moment. I saw a new bird that I've never seen before. Have you ever seen an Eastern Tohee? I saw a pair of them. We had to take down the suet block because we had three bluejays attacking it and they were scaring off all the smaller birds. Time to put up the hummingbird feeder anyway. Maybe Ill do that today.
Linda, congrats on the loss, even if it's recycled pounds. I haven't had crepes in forever. Crepes and pizza in the same day? Good thing DSIL is only there for a short time or the pounds could come back quickly. I hope she doesn't have a UTI. Not good to have acute medical things while traveling. My friend who had knee surgery got released from her doctor yesterday. She asked about the fatigue she's been experiencing and he said that the surgery takes more out of you than you realize and it could take up to 6 months for that to go away. She's not constantly on the go like you are, so you may need to be very patient with yourself while you're healing and have as much done in advance as you can, which I know you're trying to do.
LOL on the Ben Franklin quote, Kathy. Very true. I really don't like to stay at someone's house for more than a night or two. Nice to drop back into the 80s after you hit the 90s earlier yesterday. I hope you'll have a chance to stay in the 80s for a while. What's the status of rain in your forecast? I hope the wildfires haven't started in your area.
Yesterday was long and tiring but successful. We probably sold about 3/4 of the plants we had. We were supposed to have a cloudy day in the 60s, but it started raining about an hour before the sale started and we had rain until mid-morning. We still had a lot of customers, including many who attended the March sale and ones I recognized from last year. I bought a few things and toward the end of the day the sale chairperson told several of us to take several plants in payment for our extra work (Dale said when I walked in that he knew I would be bringing home orphans). We also will be using some of the leftover plants for demo garden beds. We hope to donate the remainder of the plants to the sale at a different location (but still our group) next Saturday. Most of what I brought home were flowers--mostly calendula and marigolds, plus a Greek Oregano. I got a Brandywine tomato plant that has both red and yellow fruits and a tomato variety called Cream Sausage that is a lighter color yellow oblong fruit. I wore compression socks that seemed to help my legs, especially since I spent about 5 hours on my feet, standing or walking around helping customers. I did have some lower back pain and the knee was a little cranky over night, but nothing like the pain I was in last year. I'm taking it a bit easy today so far. Dale decided to do his weekly trail run today so that will give me additional time to rest a bit. I do have a few things I need to do after he gets home and I need to get ready for iTone tomorrow.

nybuckeye, how is the leg today? Those cloud walkers are nice. texasless91, yeah, major surgery at 78 is going to have ugly effects. Kind of scared. Friend got temp dementia from anesthetics. Down to three weeks now. sounds like a good garden sale. letting dsil sleep in, and maybe not out to dinner, just something simple for her dependingâŚ

Kathy, I hope your humidity is still low with the 90s and 80s.
Linda, your poor DSIL. I hope she got some meds this morning. I hope you and Bob are hanging in there.
Karen, those tomato plants sound yummy. I hope the oregano takes off. Happy to hear you had another successful plant sale. I hope the back and knee pain donât keep you awake.
I was feeling good yesterday afternoon so I resumed some stretching. It wasnât a good idea. I did not overstretch but the leg pain ramped up and the upper glutes kicked in right where the doc says sciatica begins. I only did one load of laundry today and havenât even folded it yet. I tried to ,et Iggy do his own weekly pill box but he didnât close the lids on one side a d spilled and I ended up with more work than if I had done it myself in the first place. With my BP up he has taken it upon himself to lecture me about salt intake. Pfft! Iâm not the one who salts her food. Iggy made a baba ghanouj and that goes well with the fougasse and carrots. I had a big salad for lunch with the arugula and various other veg plus avocado and boiled egg with a homemade vinaigrette. That made the food police happy.

She is better todayâŚhistory of sudden dramatic illness that vanishes. But she is always in pain.
Chele, don't you just love lectures on stuff you have taken care of your whole life? Sciatica can be a pain in only part of a leg. Nasty. Better to be a muscle. When will you know more?
dsil called me back to bath this morning because the hot water I got her (very simple operation..pull out knob, turn left) was not there when she turned it on. Sigh..remember hot points to windowâŚ..she turned it to cold.
after she and DH finished hogging up both bathrooms, I finally got dressed. Somehow with three of us, I end up dancing in the hall waiting to go! I am not fast on my feet.
He is being a sulky curmudgeon because he said if you come we do not go places any more. Today he said..no nothing until we go to dinner, She has audiobooks but is bored.Being outside yesterday set off sinuses which set off trigeminal neuralgia⌠She must have called her friend because she picked her up for lunch. Friend must being getting tired because it was airport pick up, trip to Sedona, lunch, now another lunch. Different friend took her to a rose garden yesterday. Cannot imagine not driving or going somewhere with Uber on my own, always expecting to be entertained. It is like having a ten year old visit. We rented a car and went away in short trip as a break from us when we went to her house back east, got our own lunch and breakfast and found stuff to do most of the time.
Nothing planned for tomorrow. I am going to have to drag her to a couple new stores I want to see and walk slowly .Her brother will not. Dinner out again.
last night we got pizza from a really good place we have used 20 years..wrong pizza came, no toppings, overpacked with glossy hard cheese and Luke warm!
going to have to say, no we just cannot host if it comes up in next 12 months unless something dire happens. If her DH comes, they amuse themselves part of the time and have a hotel

Karen, glad the plant sale was successful. It looks like it's clouding up, so hopefully we'll get the rain they promised. They've been doing a lot of controlled burns, but we usually don't get many wildfires if the rainy season kicks in on time. That usually starts in June. That was a long day for you yesterday, so glad you were able to take it easier today.
Chele, sorry to hear the leg pain ramped up again. I agree on the pfffftt on being lectured on salt intake! Hope the leg has calmed back down.
Linda, your company sounds exhausting, but glad she's doing better today. I can't imagine going somewhere and expecting to be entertained like that. Ugh on the pizza order being wrong on top of everything else!
