Ughhhhh. . . . I lost my longish posts to Mj & LaDonna. And now my iPad needs recharged. So here goes. . . Again.
MJ- hope that the race was as much fun as Will Ferrell’s movie about that track & being a race car driver. Goodness. . . sometimes caregivers can be too oblivious for many reasons. Hope that Toot’s sister recovers quickly after receiving a more “hands on” examination and care. Great news about John!
LaDonna- yes, housework can get very overwhelming very quickly. What gets done is what gets done in my book. I actively work on not even thinking about R’s stuff filled cellar or garage. lol. . . I just can’t. If I had a lil one and grown children living nearby, they would be my focus. Time spent with them would be at the top of my list, too. When R & I was first married, I was an immaculate house cleaner. Our rented apartment was cleaner when we left! They didn’t have to do a thing before renting it again. We will be in the Falls this week. I discovered that the NY Power Authority has a science center w/ interactive exhibits for kiddos. Avery will love that! Plus Richard is bound to have insights to share since he has overseen maintenance jobs in & built equipment for power plants. I understand it has neat views of the Falls, too. Plus it is the base for a free trolley system to other sites. I want to see what is offered regarding the Erie Canal at Lockport. Lockport’s double flight of 5 locks was the engineering marvel of early 19th century. And I have always been interested in Erie Canal.

Goodness. . . My intuition was on fire today. The end result is that I wasn’t surprised when out of the blue, Greg’s wife texted us an invite for this summer. We’re booked for Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky and set to hit Cedar Point, too. Yay!!

Sunday’s intention Enjoy the day. Investigate a bit more about N Falls. We have 3 1/2 days there— unless we decide to leave early. Maybe the crew will come here for a day? We could watch Avery &/the dog, which was a very nice break for Noel & Amy.

I had an OP day yesterday and am almost through an entire week OP in spite of the cold that is visiting. Today I am much better as it is the start of day 7 and colds usually last 7-10 days. I plan to go shopping for the ingredients to make the butterscotch pudding for the pudding tasting on Tuesday and might pick up a bottle of wine to take to the lunch on Wednesday.
Talked to our daughter yesterday and hope to talk to our son and his family today. Also hope to find out what dates NOT to visit this summer if they have any idea at all.
Fifty or so years ago I had long hair, would put it in a bun, and cover it with something decorative. These two Bun covers went to college with my daughter. She sent me a photo of them this weekend so thought I'd share.

June - I tidy up as I go keeping the kitchen clean at all times. Easy since it is just me and the furkids. I give the bathrooms a wipe down once a week and vacuum/dust as needed. The cleaning company takes care of the rest. Leaves me free to tackle projects like organizing closets, declutter, etc. at my leisure. Sounds like great plans for the falls. How long will it take you to get there? It's apx. 10 hours from here. Cathy - Love the bun covers. I do remember them. Happy shopping. Butterscotch pudding sounds delicious. MJ - Good news about John. Sending extra prayers for DSIL. Sometimes when you are living in the situation, you don't see what is obvious to someone outside looking in. Glad YM went well. LaDonna - Sounds like Laken's housewarming was a hit. You do what you can when you can. Glad you got the refund and found a new place. Sorry you had such an unpleasant experience with Airbnb. All my experiences have been exactly as represented. Including the NC house having not a drop of food/seasonings so we brought our own since we knew. LOL Bee - Holding you and the family up in prayer. Got a brief text from Ann that all is well.
The ball was wonderful. The cocktail "hour" was over the top as usual and worth every bite. Unfortunately, Keegan (the special child this year), was starting to have a meltdown early so they moved the presentation of the gifts up before the dinner and the family left shortly after. He did manage to make it smoothly through. The district child made it through the entire evening. And Carol and I won a basket! First time ever! Worth $700 with 7 bottles of Napa Valley wine and a couple of gift certificates. That was the average value of the baskets this year. People are very generous to the ball. Got home at 1, to bed at 2. Up at 6:30, fed the ferals, played with Lily. Took a quick nap and headed to acupuncture. One of the best sessions ever. I was able to walk Lily well over 2 miles after. Just finished brunch and will take a quick nap again before going to Marge's to take her for a manicure. Hopefully she will want to take a ride to the inlet after to be out of the house for something other than a doctor's appointment. She finally saw the nurse and had PT. Landscapers are supposed to come today to do spring cleanup including turning the garden. I'm going to have to go smaller this year.
S - Usual coffee L - Steak, Velveeta, lettuce and tomato on 647 wheat D - Wild mushroom soup and salad. Maybe light Caesar? E - Walking and stretching

Good afternoon, all!
Prayers still going up for those in the path of storms... many, MANY prayers... there are many, MANY storms... and fires, too, that never seem to go away...
Prayers for all our loved ones who are in particular need...
medUPDATE on Laraine: they released her after 4 hours and a bag of saline, cautioning her to EAT and DRINK. Susi, I would agree about being "too close to see" except that she has had three other medical instances (TWO of which since living with them, and that's less than 5 years) where they waited and the situation ended up being a lot more complex than an EKG and a bag of salt water.

I think it's Sunday. The week has been a blur. I am sitting in a sunbeam with a mug of coffee and contemplating Not Much.
Yesterday's full-day YM drill was interesting. We had a guest instructor, Jose Trujillo from the local chapter of the Montford Point Marines. He is a personal trainer and led the YMs through a series of conditioning exercises. It's different when a trained, certified adult goes through things, watching for proper form, etc. And he got them engaged in what they were doing, each at their own level of performance! He is definitely invited back! Commander also led them through a lesson on knots, which is a skill the YMs need to know if they are going to any Division or National events. Color guard rifle training continued. We dismissed on schedule at 2 PM but got stalled out waiting for two pickups 🧐 and didn't leave the property until 2:30. Fortunately, the weather had cleared and it was sunny and warm and just a brilliant afternoon so we waited outside.
Meanwhile, Toots was on taxi duty for the Mouseketeer, who had karate/jiu jitsu from 11:15 AM to 1 PM. After pickup they had McDonald's and he took the Mouseketeer home around 2 PM. MousekeTWO's travel baseball did not go well; the team has moved up into the next age bracket, where they are the youngest. Fortunately, MousekeTWO just wants to play baseball and takes pride in what he accomplishes (he doesn't "get his knickers in a twist" about the rest of it).
The rest of Saturday was quiet. I didn't pass out in a chair like I thought I would. There was NASCAR Xfinity at 4 PM. I also watched random PBS until bedtime. Dinner was a DiGiorno pizza with portobello mushrooms that Toots added.
Today I will sew that Arrow of Light patch on the Zigster's BOY SCOUT shirt and wash it for his Tuesday meeting. I'll put it in with my YM stuff - two uniforms with one load of wash, eh? I also collected a few more M65 jackets this week to freshen up and pack away.
There's NASCAR Cup series at 3 PM. The rest of the day? I need to get all the gear out of GracieTOO. The trick will be to get things properly-stowed in the Quartermaster's Store and not my front room. There are two YM-related emails to write, and the May MTS to lay out pending updates. I will go through the last couple of days' mail and sort it out. But nothing is urgent, nothing is on a deadline so if I end up sitting in a sunbeam all day doing Not Much that's fine too.
I have NO idea what dinner / main meal will be.
Coffee... ☕☕☕... keep it coming...
🌱🌷☔️🌷🌱🌷☔️🌷🌱🌷☔️🌷🌱🌷☔️🌷🌱 Be well! Have a healthy-eating day, all! 🌱🌷☔️🌷🌱🌷☔️🌷🌱🌷☔️🌷🌱🌷☔️🌷🌱

Cathy- lol. . . Laughing at myself for thinking that your bun covers were maternity tops. Wow. . . I never saw anything like those accessories. They are lovely and look brand new. My hair is so thick and I usually let it grow long so I almost never wore it in buns. It was just too much hair! So, perhaps that is why I didn’t know about bun covers. Congrats on staying in the OP zone! Mmmm. . . R would love homemade butterscotch pudding.
Susi Oooooh. . . How fun that you and Carol won a raffle basket— and that it was a thoughtful & generous gift!!! Were you surprised? Or did you have a feeling that you would be lucky? Congrats to all involved in organizing and holding another successful charity event. So kind of you to get Marge out of the house for a little pampering. You are a great friend. Glad that Ann let you know that all is well.
MJ- don’t you just love it when you encounter a volunteer like Jose T.? Such a wonderful role model for the YMs. Glad that the drill was a success although the pickups had two hiccups. Those uniforms are in good hands! I can imagine that you take good care of them. Congrats to Zigster on earning another BS badge. Love to hear that MouseTwo plays for the fun of it. Life is too short for pressuring yourself or others to be cutthroat in youth sports.

Getting my things together. . . I am mainly taking warmer clothes since only one day will be warmish. And the Falls area can be windy. My Ukrainian grandmother had quite a few relatives living in that area. So, then drive will bring back memories. The Falls themselves are mesmerizing. Our drive is only 4 hrs unless we hit construction and such. lol. . . I really cannot wait to see everyone.
