Eating is going well. I spent a few hours yesterday prepping for the week. I have two more things to make today, both plant based. I’m doing a couscous chickpea recipe from the NYT and subbing quinoa for the couscous, and a burrito filling that I’ll eat out of a bowl this week instead of a wrap. I made it last week and it was filling and nutritious.
Meg, you should be getting some relief soon now that you’re on an antibiotic. I hope you’re able to rest so your body and heal and recover, but I know how busy those grandkids keep you.
Nancy, how do you feel eating whole foods vs. processed foods? Do you notice any difference? I typically put egg salad or tuna salad into my 60 calorie wraps. The calories are for just the wraps. Berries are also a great source of fiber.
Lori, consignment shopping, how fun! I got a big box of clothes from a seller on Poshmark this week. Some were hits, some were ok, and one item is going into the donate bag. I’m good with that.
Kathy, are you back home yet? I recently finished listening to The Measure. Wow. It was an outstanding book.

C82. D1. New cycle. TRE. Yoga. No aerobic exercise, but 10,000 steps most days. Home for 30 more hours and then traveling until Thursday afternoon.
**** Scale down 3 pounds 😲🤓***. When I got on the scale this morning I was telling myself "this is just data. You know how to reverse this gain..." And then, lo and behold, the scale was down!!
Lori- wow on the healthy food in your cafeteria. That sounds delicious and healthy. Hope your unscheduled day is delightful.
Nancy - yay on the whole foods. So much healthier than processed. And YES less expensive! I invest in organic, local options for as much of my food as possible and because I'm not paying for convenience, it's less expensive. Like meats, veggies, grains and beans. Chia seeds have calories, but mostly they pass through undigested and therefore I wouldn't count them. I make a plain, whole milk kefir pudding with them: 1/2 cup mixed berries shmooshed, sprinkles 1.5 T chia and 1.5 T flax, cover with 1/2 c organic, whole milk kefir. Let sit a couple hours for the chia to swell. Then top with cocoa nibs. Yum!! All whole foods.
Jan- our posts might cross. Hope you and the family are doing well.
Meg-We take about the same supplements. DH swears by the D Mannose for the same reason. I also take a swig of cod liver oil with my supplements. It's caught and processed by noble, virgin Icelandic men (or at least I hope so, it's that expensive 😂). I try to incorporate Brewers Yeast, but it is disgusting, adds a slight vomit taste to anything I add it too. Lol.
Happy Saturday all!! Making a batch of homemade chicken noodle soup because I woke up sick yesterday morning in Pierre SD. Just a cold.

Jan- Glad that eating is going well for you. your meal prep sounds great. DH just showed me a salmon bowl recipe from the NYT as well. I think that means he wants me to make it for him. I checked out The Measure - looks interesting! It's called a dystopian novel, which I enjoy.
It's Happy Sunday. I'm off by a day. Wish it were Saturday!

C134D8, 690 calories plus food at the dance. I had mostly shrimp and strawberries but way too many potato chips and a small plate of assorted desserts. A lot of dancing, though, for exercise. Surprisingly my weight was down 1.5 lbs this morning. Yesterday was a water pill day. That must be why. Made and enjoyed oatmeal with walnuts and raisins this morning. Lunch will be mushu with a cup of pineapple. Dinner will be my favorite sauteed brown rice/chicken/onion dish with strawberries, then my salad and finally butterscotch pudding with a banana. It totals 1102 calories leaving room for some whole grain thin Wasa triscuits or maybe a slice of buttered whole wheat bread.
Jan - I don't feel any different from the whole foods except that I'm enjoying them. I felt good before and still feel good. The mucus issue remains but much more manageable than it was originally. I don't think I like wraps that much, so my tuna or egg salad go on my 7 grain wasa crisp n lights. 3 of them is the same 60 calories. As for berries, I tried rasberries last week and didn't like them so much. I look forward to cherries when they're in season. In the meantime, I'm happy with my bananas, oranges, pineapple, pears, strawberries and such.
Kathy - Wow on the 3 lb loss. You must be doing something right <g>. Can you send me a really detailed recipe for the kefir pudding with chia and flax seeds with brand names and such. I wouldn't know where to begin but if they'd be a better option than my jello pudding, I'd like that. I've been ending most days with 1/2 cup pudding, so I'd love a healthier choice for that and it would be an easy way to get in the chia and flax seeds. Worth a try.
Meg - Speaking of salmon, I saw a whole food suggestion for scrambled eggs with salmon. I used to have lox n eggs n onions a lot, so decided to save a third of my salmon last week. I scrambled it with some diced onion and an egg. It was really good. I'm pretty sure I'll do that regularly every time I have salmon. It's good to know you're on antibiotics. Hopefully you'll start to feel a lot better.

Nancy-for my chia pudding I use a glass parfait cup because it is pretty. - 1/2C frozen or fresh mixed berries, thawed and smooshed - 1.5 T organic, whole chia seeds (Bob's Red Mill) - 1T organic ground flax meal (Bob's Red Mill) Sprinkle seeds over the berries - 1/2C Organic, plain whole milk kefir (I get Lifeway brand) Stir the berries, seeds and kefir together. Let sit for a couple hours- if more than two hours, refrigerate.. Just before eating, sprinkle the top with: 1-2 T organic raw cocoa nibs (Now Real Food is the brand. I buy it online. The greens and white bag www.nowfoods.com/products/natural-foods/cacao-nibs-organic-raw?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8pKxBhD_ARIsAPrG45lFrhUfBXXVmXXdu_d2Cy7HHa1brIXFAyjTxgR_wU4O2XqTtOoWQ7oaArmdEALw_wcB **Note** Plain kefir is tart. Like plain yogurt. The cocoa nibs are crunchy and a bitter/chocolate taste. Cocoa nibs are basically crushed cocoa beans not ground to powder. So essentially the taste of unsweetened cocoa powder. The only sweetness come from the berries. This might be good with smooshed bananas instead of berries

Weekends go way too fast….
Jan, consignment shopping was fun! Sounds a lot like a Poshmark book. You never know what you’re going to find. Luckily, I was able to get a few really nice tops, good name brands, super cheap…
Kathy, Wow, down another 3lbs! You’re rocking it!!
Nancy, Your motivation and your meals are sounding good!!
Meg, hope the meds are working and your starting to feel a little better each day….

Kathy - Thanks a bunch. Is there anything wrong with getting the nonfat kefir, and what about the mixed berry or strawberry flavored ones?
Lori - The Mushu was good. I think I'll make the Lightened up Broccoli Cheddar soup tomorrow. I have all the ingredients. I'll have to check my area for consignment shops.
