This thread is for all of us who have been on the weight loss merry-go-round quite a few times. We have banded together to make this our FINAL time. We offer support & motivation, WEIGHT LOSS TIPS, food ideas – whatever you need to make it your FINAL time. If you start the day’s thread, please copy and paste this paragraph.
Carole: 1.) Greatly decrease alcohol 2.) Track daily, being mindful of my macros 3.) Make movement a daily habit 4.) Be thankful each and every day ♥ 5.) Organize the house and photos
Karen: 1) Count my blessings each day in my planne 2.) Track my food daily on the Noom app 3.) Continue to conquer the areas of my home that need special love 4.) Intentionally Move More

This is a time to get organized to reduce stress and frustrations.. 3.) Drink more water....even if it's hard...make it a priority...a continued "work in progress" for me!! 4.) Get to the pool....it makes me feel good, it's my happy place...no excuse!! Shoot for 3 days a week to start!! 5.) Be kind to ME!! Remember you can't be all things to everyone especially if you don't take care of you first!

Good morning,
Thanks for getting us going today Jo---it's good to see you! It is cold again today--39 degrees (Spring, will you please come and stay for a couple of days?) I think it will warm up into the low 60s today and that is looking to be the pattern for some time. We are all starting to get impatient for some warmer weather! It's hard to believe that next week is May....yesterday was an okay day at work but I did have "words" with one of the other directors and I know that she is still angry about it because she wouldn't look at me all day! It had to do with her following through on something that I think she thought someone else should do. Well, she'll either be more mad on Monday or over it. We'll see. I think I am going to call the assistant at the doctor's office and tell her that, in case someone else gives up their Colonscopy appointment, I will take it. I just am getting more and more anxious about waiting. They probably don't get cancelled that often (or in enough time for another person to be prepared) but I have my kit now (they called it in early) and I am willing. We will see.
Jo: Oh, I am sorry to here that Rosie's behavior is "off"....hoping that she just wasn't feeling 100% on that particular day. It does sound like you are busy---and that you will be even busier when your coworker heads to Europe. But you can do it! How is it going with the new boss? I know that is a big shift. It is so great that Steve has a good, on-top-of-things cardiologist. Isn't it amazing how many different meds, procedures, etc. they have to treat it? Maybe the new meds will surprise him and make him feel better (not even knowing that he didn't feel 100%). How are the kids doing? Hoping that you have a good day.
Sue: Loving the picture of Irelyn and her family---such a beautiful family! I do hope that they get good news soon.
Carole: I think that you have a funeral to attend today? Did you and Tracy have your time as expected yesterday? I hope so. How is she feeling? We have TERRIBLE pollen, etc. now around here and I wonder if things like that affect her.
Christine: I hope that your physical went well and that you had a good day at work. Will you be finishing those last reports this weekend or giving yourself a break? Cleaning out the basement? I hope that you have some downtime!
Jenny: So, I guess that your meeting is earlier now....hoping that you can make it today just because we know that you like your meeting.....
Okay, time to get going. Going for a run this morning and then spending the day getting ready to host a dinner tonight for DS30's birthday. Maybe DS24 will bring the young lady he has been dating? I invited her! Fingers crossed on that one. I will try to pop in later. Have a good day!

Gabrielle, sorry your sister seems to spur your Mum on top selling but is she is willingly wanting to move to an assisted living that is a good thing. Maybe this is THE time. This is such a big event for her. I'm sure she just wants to make sure she picks the right place. It's easier then forcing her diem the road. Hugs [][][][] I know it's hard. I'm surprised your weather isn't nicer. Is this unusual for this time of year? I'm glad your visit well with your Dr the Endocrinologist, mine is THE nicest Dr I have ever met. Sorry I missed it but what did your blood work show?
I thought about looking into invisalign. What do you think if them?
Carole, I switch out my winter/summer clothes as well. I got my dinner clothes out a couple of weeks ago. I think the same thing about the dust around here..lol How did the movie and pop corn night go? I don't do yard work. The plants and flowers we have have been here for years. That's Steve's deal. I wonder if it was he full moon that was causing all the craziness? DH was driving me nuts too.
Sue, oh no poor Rowan. That looks like a really bad break. Thank goodness he didnt need surgery. It's a good thing he is smiling. Of course this happens right after Shane leaves. Hope he breaks quickly.
Christine, hope you get some down time this weekend. And your basement dries out. I'm surprised they didn't leave the drivers in the basement longer.
Jenny, does Audrey have any big plans due her Bday?
Ok hopping off here

Gabrielle: So glad you drew the line yesterday! Good Lord, I get needing training, but TBH it sounds like this woman just wants you to do the review, before you leave! Fingers crossed the court case actually goes to court this time - enough is enough!
Sorry DM feels she is going someplace to die! When my MIL went into her assisted living, it was by far the best she could hope for! Meals and activities with other people, her own apartment, they cleaned weekly, she basically was on an extended vacation! The only difference was if she went out for a day and didn't come back, someone would know! She even seemed to enjoy the home she went to when she could no longer live in her apartment and come and go as she pleased. It will definitely be a difficult move, but once there, I am sure your DM will enjoy herself! (I know hard to convince her of that) {{{hugs}}}
Jo: Ahhh vacation coverage... gotta love it! How is the estrogen patch working? What are the benefits that you have noticed? Glad they can switch meds for Steve... how's he doing?? I did Kait's training, it was OK. UGH Sorry you got up so early today. Thanks for starting us off though. Five weeks of CPAP and I STILL don't want to get out of bed in the morning!
Gabrielle: I'm pretty impatient here too! This darned "breeze" never seems to die down! Today will be nice to drive in the car, with the bright sunshine though. Oh I was wondering about being on a cancellation list. I asked to be put on one for my bone density test, but they told me to just call every day! Ummm, no... that's not my idea of fun! To go through 9 options, to then be on hold for 5 minutes then to "bother" a person to look and see if there are any cancellations... I'll just go in August. Bones won't change much in 3 months!
Tracy came up last night, with both girls. They stopped to play pickleball with Grampa for a little while. It's a small, non-competitive group, so they let the girls play for a bit. Once here we had popcorn and old family videos night! Zoë was laughing at her Daddy... she thinks that's where her silliness comes from! LOL Tracy does suffer from pollen, but seems to be ok now. She does have her meds, so hopefully she stays on top of any symptoms that arise. Ken, Tracy & Eden have gone to the Relay meeting. I begged off. Just didn't feel like rushing to get to a meeting, before heading out to the funeral. Zoë opted to stay home with me. She is back asleep now! LOL We will leave in time to drop her at the end of the meeting, so she can go with Tracy for the day. Oh I do hope Max brings his GF for dinner. If not, that's OK too... just glad you can all celebrate Tyler's 30th!
Jo: Movie night went fine, girls seemed to enjoy old home movies. LOL I HATE YARDWORK! However... IF I want it done to "my liking" I best be able to help get it done! Ken will help dig holes, and we will start very slowly. I bought 4 plants, I have 1 Hosta plant that has survived since it was dug up in 2020! LOL That will be replanted (finally)! I will buy probably 4 more Hosta plants, cheaper in 2s, so that's only 9 holes to dig. I think the Hosta plants will multiply on their own, but if not, I'll add more next year? Maybe? The mowing, trimming and other outdoor stuff is on Ken. Oh except I LIKE cutting trees/branches... so satisfying! LOL
Gabrielle: Yes, the funeral is today. My friend Darlene's husband. I didn't know him that well, but have know Darlene since I was 13, so a long time! LOL We aren't in touch as we once were, but she has helped with our Relay events the past several years, and Bob always came with her. They would drive 2 hours to come buy from the bake sale, and for the Mother's Day breakfast we used to do! I think I will see some other "old" friends while there... I am a little anxious about it though. I hope Ken's sister doesn't come! I know, that's terrible for me to say, but I honestly don't want to see her today. She's the one whose fiancée died recently, and I found out VIA Facebook. We were together at the family reunion last summer, and she was all over us... showing the extended family (cousins) what a loving - family we are... then when no one's around, she forgets we are here? Anyway... It's all fine, but I do not want to deal with her faking it with me today, as a show for others (old friends)! OK Rant over... but I am very nervous about it all! I want to tell her to go take a hike... but don't want to cause a scene... so I will have to suck it up and pretend we are still family? Anyway... OK Time to hit the shower, and get ready to leave. Then I'll wake up little miss sleepyhead, if she's still sleeping. Need to get her ready to hit the road too!
I also need to grab some water bottles and healthier snacks, so I don't get there hungry! LOL
♥hugs♥

Morning Jo, Gabrielle and all to come....it's a gloomy, dreary day here in Glenville....rains should be here in a couple hours so this girl is staying put!! Got some things to do to putter around here, want to get the bed stripped, washed and swap flannel for T-shirt sheets today. While today is chilly with a high of 58° the entire work week is 79-87° with lows in the mid to upper 50's!! Will be nice to open the windows and leave them open....tomorrow I plan to take advantage of the nice day and have Jason help me bring all the boxes for the table and other patio things to the back so I can put together the table and maybe enjoy dinner outside tomorrow night?? The stove and umbrella base have arrived but the table for the stove won't be here until Monday by 7:00pm so that will have to wait....no biggie!
So, speaking of the patio and furniture....I told Jason the other day that I did order it, it would be arriving over the next week and by Mother's Day our patio would be fully functional and ready to enjoy for many years. I told him that I ordered the table like Karen and Bobby have for their fire pit and the first words out of his mouth were "I hope you did NOT get propane....I hate them, they stink"!! I laughed and said "no, I agree with you, a firepit has wood"! I could see the sigh of relief and that was the end of it!!
The driveway is taking longer than Jim expected so we can park in the end of it this week because there is still about 1/2 the topcoat to finish.....they had to do a lot of work to get it sloping the opposite direction it had been to send the water away from the house and toward the road and back yard.....I'm just impatient to have it all done. It will be finished on Monday finally but on the flip side, I want it done right so it's the last time we need to worry about it!!
Went to Kellen's first league game last night...I rode up with Sarah and the boys because I was not sure of where the field/parking was so I had planned to meet Jason at the lot, ride up with him and then go back for my car but when Sarah was still here I had a quick thought to change that plan and ride with her so no "after game car pick up" was needed. Was fun to see some of the parents and grandparents of his teammates again....we know several of them. It was fun too to see Jen, Damian and Levi on the other team....Jen worked at Sheridan and she was not lucky to survive the COVID cuts.....she was furloughed before me but there was nothing they could offer her at that point and since she's 20 or so years younger than me, she opted to just move on....Damian I still see from time to time....he works for James Craft, the HVAC company that Sheridan uses....Levi is between Kellen and Jackson in age and grade in school but because of birthdates He and Kellen both play 12U baseball.....they are on either side of the "cut off" date.
Bulldogs had a great opener with a 14-4 win over Spring Grove....Kellen had a sacrifice bunt, pop up out, single and a double....3 RBI's and scored twice!! Not bad for not feeling 100%. Thankfully he's feeling much better and so far no one else is feeling lousy!! I will share a few pictures and the videos Sarah forwarded later on FB. I will say, I was frozen to the bone when we left....it was in the mid-60's and sunny but when the breeze kicked up it was chilly, then at the end of the game when the sun went down it was down right COLD!! MISERABLE!! Until the sun set gets closer to 8:30 when the game is ending I'll need to remember to come prepared for the days still in the 60's....lesson learned.
Unfortunately, by the time I got home, even with the heat on in the van I was just cold, so I snuggled under my fleece and even turned the heat up in the living room but it still took a couple hours to get warm 100%....needless to say it was after midnight till I finally was asleep!! Slept until almost 9:00 this morning so still got a great night's sleep and scored an 87 on my Fitbit!! While up so late we were texting with Hannah since the tornados hit Omaha pretty hard but they were OK.....had tornado warnings for a good part of the time but nothing too close to Papillion that would cause issues for them!!
Need to grab another cup of coffee and some breakfast...brb!!

Good Morning
Today is the last day of our 10:30am meeting so I will go to that for the last time then next week I start the 9:00am meetings, I'm not real happy about it but will deal with it. Did I mention my Dr retired so I have a new one. I'm going to go to my parents Dr, they really like him so I will give him a try. I'm going to ask him about the GSL to maybe get a jump start on my weight loss, nothing else is working, we will see.
Tonight we will go to "The Yard" for Audrey's 21st birthday party, I'm going to go get my parents at 4:30 and head that way. I think my sisters and BIL and SIL are coming and we will have dinner. I can't believe she's 21. In June she's moving in with another BFF into her first apartment and will live there for her Senior year of college. She's in honor society and pulling 4.0. I think she's got a summer job during the day at a local daycare and then go to work at the studio at night so she will have 2 jobs for the summer. I hope she's not burning the candle at both ends.

Jo so good to see you. Thanks for starting us off today, I'm glad your having a simple Saturday. Oh sorry about Rosie not feeling well, I understand when your pets get sick because they are so much like your kids, I hope she feels better soon. Sorry to hear about Steve's heart, what are they suggesting to do? How's Em and Steven doing?
Carole glad you have old family movies to show Zoe and Eden of their parents and they enjoy them. Sorry to hear of your friends husband passing, and, I hope you don't run into Ken's sister. I hope you get to see some old friends and catch up with them. I bet the girls enjoyed playing pickle ball with Grandpa. I still am taking it easy on my ankle until the swelling goes down so I've been staying off my matt for a while, I don't want to re-enjur my ankle again cause that hurt.
Gabrielle oh I just wish my mom and dad wanted to go to asst living, but they are so stubborn about that. So sorry you had to reprimand another worker about her not wanting to do her job, but hey, she needs to do her job. She'll get over it. You don't have long now till your retired and not have to deal with it. My sister is going back to work after retiring, they need her back 2 day's a week because they didn't bother training another person to do her end of year work so she's going back and help them, I hope they let her retrain someone while she's back, I would of told them no, they had plenty of time to train someone but she say's it's just a mess down there. That scares me cause she worked for the justice dept of Oregon.

Sue glad you got your patio furniture and maybe when the weather gets nicer you can put it up and enjoy it. Let me know if you love your solo stove. We have rainy weather this week as well but it's supposed to start getting nicer next Friday up into the 70's, we really needed the rain this week, we have hardly had any rain for March or April so we welcome it. All of the Dogwood tree's, Magnolia and Azaleas are blooming right now and look so pretty with all the flowers on them.
Christine I hope you got answers at the Dr's, I looked up that medication you said and it's used to treat seizures but it is used for weight loss. I had my labs done a few weeks ago and my A1C is at 5.8 but my blood sugar is high so I think I'm pre-diabetic so I'm hoping to talk to my Dr about that as well. I know they do the A1C and then they do my urine sugar so I'm going to ask him about that as well, I'm all confused when I see my results. I hope your week went well.
OK gotta run for now, enjoy your weekend

Gabrielle...I will say this was a VERY long week in my world and Thursday we were all saying the same thing...."it's almost the end of the week"! Sounds like DM is a bit more serious about selling the house and moving into someplace w/o all the work/upkeep like the house. Fingers crossed some place is suitable and this can be behind you once and for all. Yes, while things in the housing market are slower around here too, I think people are starting to feel like the interest rates have leveled off but are not expecting them to drop any time soon if the house is priced right, things ARE moving....heck, your Deputy Supt sold his in 4 days and Meg lost the house she wanted so your mom's theory doesn't seem to hold water!!
Yes, it is nice to see Rowan's smile. While texting last night about the storms in NE, Jason asked how Rowan was doing.....Hannah said he's adapting well to being one-handed but NOT happy at this point he needs to stop and elevate his arm and ice it because his fingers are still swelling at times....that will subside in a few days but he's not one to sit still for long....he'll figure it out....I'm sure we will FT this weekend at some point!
Gabrielle....Silver Sneakers coverage varies from state to state....in our area it includes Planet Fitness, Y's, tennis club in town, Platinum Fitness....most chain gyms and Y's for sure.....they recommend the Y as the "best place" for seniors because they tend to offer more "senior focused" choices and include not only fitness machines, weights, track, basketball, but all pools. I'm glad my Y participates so that will be one expense we can get rid of in retirement since it will already be included in our MC premiums.
Hopefully you can coordinate with Tyler to celebrate his 30th!! Busy lives and sometimes it hard to get together.
Oh....Rose had a bit of a setback yesterday.....she went to the doctor for a recheck of her hip....it has been oozing a bit at the incision and the doctor "didn't like the look of the drainage" so she will be back in the OR on Tuesday to "flush/wash" it out again. They suspect the anti-biotics did not clear it totally so want to catch it before it gets out of hand again. So needless to say our "dinner date" of Chinese we had planned for Tuesday will need to be postponed. She is hoping she is just in overnight this time and back home again on Wednesday!!
Carole...I think a Mother's Day cookout to christen the patio is a perfect plan!! Too early to plan for sure but the 10-day shows Saturday to be in the low 70's and sunshine so I'm thinking it might just fall into place!!
OMG Carole...it's not just Jason's "mother's tone" but the look on his face....it's that condescending look she gave me everything I did things different from her....usually followed with the line "well he's not used to that, I did it this way...."!! I also know now after all these years where the girls got their "eye rolling"....Jason does it all the time! Through this addition/remodel it has been in full swing....I know because of all the stress it has been through the process but it's getting old and now with all the final touches fall into place, I'm hoping it settles back down to the point I can ignore it!!
I was sitting here and could hear voices but couldn't figure it out...Sarah was still in her room but I heard Jason talking....went to the garage and found him talking to Jim, the driveway guy, about the driveway! Apparently he broke a head gasket on the roller so he lost 3 tons of blacktop, the balance of what he needed to finish up....he was on his way back from taking his roller to get fixed and stopped to give us an update.....he will rent a roller to finish up on Monday now and bring a power washer to clean up the mess from the head gasket....it sprayed motor oil everywhere so he'll get that cleaned up too!! I guess it's always something here!
Christine....thanks again for getting us going yesterday! Glad it's not a big deal to move the last 2 contract reports to May....I'm sure with all the expenses of the month of April the extra $$ will indeed come in handy!! We always seem to have use for those extra checks, don't we!! Speaking of checks, May is a 5 checks for Jason, 3 checks for me month....we always keep our fingers crossed when this happens that something doesn't break! You know "Murphy's Law"....little extra $$ and BAM!
Yes...PSSA time here too! Both the boys are taking them now....they started this week and finish Monday I think....will admit neither of the boys like taking them but then again, I was never a fan of standardized testing either....I was a great student, fast learner but never scored as well as anyone expected. Both my girls were the same way.....I understand the point of the testing but will also say, it's not necessary a true picture for all students.!
Christine...any updates on Aunt Marion?? Our weather Friday was in the mid-60's but the winds were mean!! Getting so tired of the winds...I thought they were call "March winds"....well, it's almost May so I can be done...thank you very much!! Sorry Carly was less than helpful with the basement....for crying out loud, the basement for EVERYONE is an irritant to their day!! Definitely NOT something you wanted to do either but come on, some of that stuff is hers!! Hopefully since Gary and Carly bailed on you, Linds will be a bit more help! Sounds to me like the cleaning service did NOT complete the job if things are still damp and soggy.....they should have left the fans/dehumidifiers for several days to get the job done right....
Hope your annual PE went well....yes, with the last few months you have had, your weight was NOT in the forefront of you mind....hopefully now as the school year winds down, wedding plans start to fall into place you can focus a bit more on you and you choices....give yourself some slack! It's been a bumpy few months for you, my friend!! ♥♥
Carole...YAY for a sunny Friday for you!! But I see you have those same nasty winds!! I agree, we are not getting a breeze...when wind speeds are above 6-7 here it's WIND.....granted, if the temps were upper 70-low 80's we would love the "breeze" but upper 50-low 60's...not so much!!
Thanks, my Friday was busy with starting the first of 2 MEAPs that need to be finished before month end....on Thursday the first dropped and I was just starting to get it numbered when we all lost connection! We were confused because we had internet and some things worked but the remote desktop system was gone....well, come to find out that when the main plant loses internet the RDS can't connect even if we are up and running. We are NOT on the same internet so for almost 2 hours....all of Sheridan was down....the presses and binders could run as long as they were already programed but if they needed the computer, they were stuck too....all the shipping programs were down, all the planning programs were down....pretty much everyone was at a standstill....we did get some billing prep work done which helps, we all ate lunch earlier than normal but were up and running again at 12:50...took forever as usual to get everything booted back up. Needless to say all I got done was numbering over 600 orders so just got started printing on Friday. Thankfully Friday the computer was not too slow and I made a huge dent in it...should have no trouble getting the 2nd finished in a timely manner...that one is only 400 orders!

Well...since it was so late when I thought about breakfast this morning what I did was put a small Yukon Gold potato in the toaster oven...then topped it with leftover BBQ (Sloppy Joe type thing), some cheese and pickled red onion! YUMMO!! Was very filling and I only ate 1/2 of it for brunch, will finish for supper with a salad I guess!! Will say, I love baked potatoes in the oven vs the microwave and the toaster oven does the trick when baking only one! Took about 45 minute to bake....
Gabrielle....yes Friday at last was the theme of the day yesterday at work....unfortunately, while our day was uneventful technology wise it seems like the day dragged worse than the rest of the week already had.....hope we don't get a repeat next week! Next week ushers in May and I have a long weekend on the 17th - 19th, then Memorial Day weekend so it will be a nice month with a couple breaks!! SO HAPPY for Meg and the new house!! Sounds perfect with the smaller yard, neighbors and easy access to walking/running trails. So they allow bikes on it.....the trail behind Hannah's allows bikes....it's nice and wide!!
Hopefully your "hard conversation" with your one director was NOT too confrontational and you got your message across that she "dropped the ball" on her end and left the mess in your lap!! Glad you drew some boundaries with the person taking your position....while disappointed, I sure she also understands the burden that would put on everyone else to get the work done by 6/30....I'm sure she knows in the back of her mind she is capable for you job but I also know many of us 2nd guess ourselves on many things and get to feeling like we can't measure up!! I'm sure after you planned meetings each week she will be more comfortable and confident moving into the transition when you retire!
Gabrielle...my DFIL felt like you mom in that he was going somewhere to die.....then I look at Pat and DM and they both love the senior community they are in....Pat has a "condo", DM has her "studio apartment" but both have what they need and can handle physically as well as the security of medical help there for them in an emergency. Hopefully DM can find a place that makes her feel like they do.....hang in there!
Jackson is the one with the field day on the 17th....I did the same for Kellen when he was in 5th grade....kind of nostalgic for me as both girls participated in the event 20+ years ago!! Rowan as you know now is doing fine and also know there is a reason for the driveway delay thanks to Jim stopping this morning!
Jo...glad to see you pop in....sorry for the crazy work days with your coworker on vacation but hey, job security!! OYE, could be a long 2 weeks when she and her family are in Europe in June but I know you will muddle through! Glad you seem to have rounded the corner with what ever was making you feel lousy. LOL, sorry you forgot your wallet but I would have been in the same pickle with Jason trying to send me anything electronically!! Hopefully your estrogen will level off...yes, get that patch changed. I had a patch for several years going through menopause and I had to change it every 3 days....I tried to make my calendar but did occasionally forget and have a 4 day gap..... Hopefully switching up Steve's meds will get his heart working more efficiently. Sorry to hear Rosie is having similar seizures to what Lucy had had...poor girl!! Unfortunately with older pets sometimes these things happen but it still breaks your heart! Those fur babies are family!!
Jo....thanks for getting us started this morning...I usually struggle to sleep in on the weekend too but for me it's more like 6:30am....I get up through the week at about 6:15 and I guess that what my body knows....sometimes I can roll over and go back to sleep but I'm rarely sleeping past 8:00...today was a rarity but I think was just because I went to be so late last night!! I'm sure tomorrow it will be before 7:00 as usual. What time to get up during the week?? Your "simple Saturday" sounds perfect. Since I stocked up pretty well last weekend, I'm not shopping! Jason will pick up a couple things on his way home from the lot today but nothing big! Today I'm just puttering, paying bills, stripping beds, laundry....all things that don't take much time or energy. It's just now starting to sprinkle and should be all passed up by 4:00pm....won't amount to much, just enough to make things wet.....so this girl is staying in the house in my long sleeved T-shirt and PJ pants!!
WOW Gabrielle...you are colder than we are again....we were at least in the mid-40's at that hour but it's not getting much warmer today....the high today is 58 and overnight low is 52....as you can see my the forecast I just posted...warmer days are coming my way!! I can empathize with your impatience waiting for spring to finally arrive...this has been such a crazy year weather-wise...never know what to expect each morning when you get up and dressed!
Sorry Gabrielle the "words" you had with your other director were not received well...hopefully by Monday it will all have blown over and she can move forward. Fingers crossed she let's it go and you can all move ahead. My question is....why did she thing someone else would pick up the slack...hasn't she been there a while and knows what is expected from her for this project?? Yes, nothing much you can do with the colonoscopy appointment except put your name on the list for a cancellation spot....sometimes but as you said not often are appointments cancelled but you might get lucky!!
As I mentioned earlier Gabrielle yesterday was the day to come together and wear yellow for Irelyn....they have a FB page and so many people and groups shared their pictures of "yellow"....Irelyn's soccer team had special shirts made that were orange for kidney cancer and the goalie wore yellow.....such an adorable picture. She does gymnastics at the Y and you all know how the "Y gymnastics family" pulls together all the kids, coaches and staff in the department all wore yellow yesterday too!! There are so many in the community that know the family through sports, school (both Kyle and Em are teachers and coaches), church family, work family....the outpouring of support for them is awesome.....not sure how well I'd be holding up if my 10 year old was diagnosed with cancer.....as the one parent on the St. Jude's commercial says "is there a bright side to childhood cancer?" Such a hard blow to young parents. Still waiting on news from the biopsy and other tests done last week....hope to hear more news soon and pray it's GOOD NEWS!!
Carole...yes, I feel the same about DM and Pat in their senior communities...meals and community around to keep them feed and stimulated....Pat, since she lives in a condo does most of her own cooking still but if she wanted, she could go to the dining room/restaurant every meal....it's a quick walk up and around the corner....they serve their big meal at lunch time and light, soup/sandwich kind of meal at night....she does have a "meal plan" that includes 4 meals a month....apparently they have some specials she loves and they are not practical to make for one....too many leftovers so she gets them and then has dinner and some leftovers for another day!! Perfect way to switch it up! DM goes to the dining room for most all her meals and sits with the same group of people....she loves it!! She will go out mid afternoon and enjoy afternoon coffee and treats with some of them too! The nice thing about both places is that they never have to leave the facility....they can get the care they need from now until end stage and that is comforting.
OK...going to tackle a few things....been hanging out here long enough! Will finish catching up a bit later!

Hey Everyone - thought I would pop in to see how everyone is doing - I LOVE Saturdays! Today was definitely a Simple Saturday. We had heavy rains most of the day with rising temps - but tough to enjoy the outdoors when it's dark and cloudy. I opened some windows but keeping an eye out for stray showers -
Wow, was I ever tired this morning! I 'rested' my eyes for about an hour around 10AM! LOL Like our Jo, I rarely sleep past 5:00-5:30 even on weekends but for some reason my Day of Rest turned more into a Day of Exhaustion! LOL I read for a while, thought about doing laundry, thought about paying some bills, read some more, then fell asleep. What a life.
I talked to DB Tom for a bit - it's just nice to stay in touch each week - kept him up to date on Aunt Marion. She was sent home yesterday on hospice. My cousin Sandy (the youngest of 7) just happened to be in town to visit her Mom as she missed the 90th celebration. She plans to stay through the week as things are not looking great. Sandy lives on Camano Island, WA but all the others live locally.
Still feeling the void and emptiness of missing our Colby. I know logically she was so old but emotionally, well, I just miss her. I miss Mark too even though logically he was so sick. C'mon 2024! It's GOT TO GET BETTER, right?!?
The basement still looks like a disaster area. Less cluttered, but still a mess. At least now the damaged things are mostly bagged up waiting to go out to the curb. We have limited pick up each week so this Tuesday we will put another batch out to the curb. I have not started the Insurance Claims itemized sheet yet.
We thought about putting the Deck furniture out but it looks like rain every day. Let's wait and see. Maybe I'll at least put the front porch rocking chairs out to sit and watch the rain!

I'm back....got a few things done and now have called it a day because I can! LOL!!
Carole...love that Tracy and the girls stopped to play pickleball with Grandpa!! I'm sure the girls had fun!! I'm sure it was bittersweet to see Zoe laughing at the old videos of Matt.....so glad you can keep him "alive" in her heart!! Love that she "sees" her dad in her silliness! That makes me so happy for her to feel the connection to Matt!! ♥♥ LOL Carole....I too hate yardwork...that is Jason's love...he loves to be out digging, mowing, weeding, mulching...you name it, he loves it!! I'm good at picking things out that coordinate in height and color scheme but Jason does the work....Jason knows his taste for flowers and some sort of pattern, color scheme, timing of blooms...he needs help so that's my job!! My nails never get dirty! Oh my Carole...our hostas never die....doesn't matter which side of the house they are on....they just keep on "keeping on"! At least there is something green but will admit not a huge fan so I'm glad many are gone now! Yes, a lot of things are cheaper when you buy in doubles or more....
Glad you opted out of the Relay meeting so you morning was not rushed with the funeral. I'm sure Darlene will appreciate you being there!! You have known her most of your life at this point!! Sounds like she made time each year for you, the family and the Relay!! Fingers crossed Ken's sister doesn't show up to make it awkward!
Jenny...sorry your 10:30 meeting ends today...I'm sure there are others in your group that are just as disappointed as you!! Sorry you have to find a new doctor at this point, hopefully you will like your parents doctor as much as they do....OK....I know many acronyms but what is GSL??? Surgery, meds??? Not sure I have ever seen that one. WOW, hard to believe Audrey is already 21....I'm sure tonight will be a fun night of family and friends. Your girl is growing up....I too hope she's not burning the candle at both ends but unfortunately we as parents of adults have to "let them fly"!! Sorry the ankle continues to swell...hopefully you are more patient than Rowan is....he hates to stop and keep his arm elevated to help the swelling!! Bummer DS is going back to work after retirement....I think I might have told them "too bad, you had your chance"!! Oh my, that might me a little uneasy if the Dept of Justice was that messed up!!
Jenny...tomorrow is the day to put at least the table together....fingers crossed Tuesday night the boys might be here so Kellen can help me get the table and stove in place. I know a few people that have the solo stove and love it so figured it was a good option. I see it has a pellet accessory that might be something to think about at some point if hauling wood gets too difficult?? Who knows but I'll let you know what we think!! Yes, everything is in bloom here too and many are heading "past" prime....lots of flower petals blowing in the winds....
Glad your A1C is improved but a bummer your blood glucose is still elevated....might just be your diet the day the labs were drawn.....hopefully they will recheck it and confirm your thoughts. I'm thinking that if your A1C is down your sugars levels should fall in place...hope you get some answers!
Christine...so glad to hear your Saturday is indeed "simple"....those are the best kind!! We had some rains too but ours were NOT heavy, more a nuisance and whatever you had today it is not coming our way because we are clear and sunny the next few days!! Glad you got a chance to "rest your eyes"....sounds like you might have needed it!! So glad you got to talk to Tom and keep him up to date with your life and Aunt Marion's health. So glad your cousin is in town this week as it sounds like things are not good with Aunt Marion and her time is coming to an end. Ah yes, doesn't matter is anyone is "old enough to die" whether human or canine...the loss of any is real and will take time to get past.
Glad the basement, while still a mess is making progress. Yes, sounds like most of the garbage/trash companies here when it comes to what you can put out each week Hopefully you can get the worst of it out quickly. Yes, time to start the insurance claim and get that whole disaster behind you!! All the outside furniture will go out when the weather breaks....if the front porch rockers can go out so you can "watch" the rain...go for it!! That's why I love my front porch chairs....as long as it the rains are not coming from the north/north east here the porch stays dry and I can enjoy the front porch and screened in porch....I need to have Jason clean his crap out of the screened in area because after I get the patio in order the screened in porch is next!!
Time for supper...the rest of my potato from brunch and a nice salad!!
Waves Karen....hope you are enjoying your time at your "retreat" this weekend and maybe even getting the kayak out for a float!
Sweet dreams all....see you all in the morning!
