Thursday..wash the towels day.
surgery is 5/15 and time unknown until night before but probably mid morning. i hope not earlier as I have to change bedding and shower with the weird soap again before I leave .that will be day four if that in a row! Only that morning I have to leave it on and just towel off. Yuck. I am expected three hours early!
I was thinking today of precognition. There is a strain of Highland second sight that runs in some of the women in my …I first saw that term in a bookshop in Edinburgh. Sometimes I know things. For ex When we moved here, we had not heard from any possible jobs in Arizona, and it was last day of exams , and DH had given up, but I “knew” it would happen. That night we got the calls. I met him in summer at university orientation and as we sat having a Coke in the union, I suddenly realized I would marry him. Three years later I did. I knew when we walked into the model for this house we would but it, but it was too expensive, …I cannot make it happen, sometimes it just is or there is an absence of warning, just feeling things will be ok, like his cancer surgery. I have that sense about this surgery. It helps.
this is good because DH calls me the queen of “what if.” have been overly anxious since childhood. Half the time it's useful because I am ahead of things or have a plan.
guess we are going out to dinner at a German place fairly far from here we have not been to in years. I am trying to clear out enough space in the freezer for the water bottles for the ice machine, but DH deserves to eat out before getting stuck at home for weeks. It will be nice in spite of the boring long drive.

Linda, that’s a great picture of you and Minni. Lots of crazy stuff going on in all the state legislatures and on college campuses. I also suffer from anxiety, Linda, and need to be prepared for all outcomes. It’s good that you have that sixth sense telling you it will be all right.
Kathy, any plans for Cinco de Mayo? I think I can talk Iggy into going to my favorite Mexican place, Taqueria tres hermanos. They are having a marguerita special and tacos for $2.00. They make very good guacamole too.
Karen, 3 days with just you and Arya? I hope it won’t be too lonely for you. The gluten free loaf sounds too difficult for this lazy baker. I like things simple and easy. How does it taste?
The green beans are sprouting. We went to one plant Nursery today and got an heirloom purple tomato, Beef Master, and cherry tomatoes along with a cayenne pepper to dry and turn into powder, a green pepper, a purple pepper, and an Italian grilling pepper. We also got butter lettuce, basil and sage. We’ ll go to another place for the cucumber and chives and zinnias as this place did not have them.

Thanks for the start, Chele. The Cinco de Mayo plans sound great. I guess you'll go early to beat the crowds. The gluten free loaf is easier to make in some ways than a gluten loaf. It tastes pretty good and is very crusty. I plan to have a veggie burger on a couple of slices for lunch tomorrow. I took the second loaf to the GF Osteo coach today and she was excited. We were talking about how expensive the very small GF loaves at Whole Foods are. I guess they figure if you really want it, you'll be willing to pay a high price. Nice haul from the nursery, and good future purchases. When will you get the ones this nursery didn't have available? Is the purple tomato a Cherokee? That one is really popular here and we sold out in no time. I'm anxious to see how you like the grilling pepper. Is it like an Ancho or a Poblano? Do you have problems with squash bugs there? I quit growing squash and cucumbers because the attack my plants and I can't keep ahead of them. Dale will leave next Friday and be back on Sunday, so not quite three full days. Arya is good company but I'm limited in what I can do because she's so needy.
Kathy, what form of misinformation was spread to get people to think raising the bar on an amendment was a good idea? I guess they believe they will always been in the majority so they will get their way. Don't want to take a chance that "them" might somehow be able to amass 50%. That's insane, and I hope it will be possible for the forces of justice to prevail and the measure on your ballot will exceed the 60% threshold. I really feel sorry for the women from south FL who can't just fly somewhere to have a procedure. I'm sure some can't afford another mouth to feed or be off work for several days. Where is the closest state that it's legal? NC? Dale's race next weekend is only about a 4-hour drive. There aren't as many long distance trail races here, even with all the trails.
Doing gluten free sourdough is actually a bit easier in some ways, Linda. But there are some rules, like using multiple flours to get the correct consistency. My shelf of flours has expanded from about 5 different types to over a dozen. It's also not cheap. I do it because it makes my GI system feel better, which apparently has decided it doesn't like it when I eat a lot of wheat products. Yes, I did like your sour dough meme. How far do you live from the hospital? Sometimes they seem to want everyone there at the same time and if your surgery is later, you wait (and wait and wait). Ah, yes, the weird soap. Your positive precognition vibes will definitely be helpful. I'm glad you don't have negative vibes about this. I've known many people who had this surgery and only one who had a negative outcome, so the odds are in your favor. You're fortunate to live in a place that you can get delivery so Bob won't just have to eat out of the freezer or depend on fare from friends or family. Sorry about the email change. The ads on Yahoo, at least for my account, aren't that annoying.
Busy day. Got blood work done. No telling how long it will take to get the results back. Osteo session went well, then off to Publix and the gym. Then a stop for fresh strawberries and gas, which has gone up 20¢ in the last couple of weeks. Stick it to the tourists and, in the process, us locals as well. The chest muscles are still not fully recovered. I can lift my arm in all directions, but not with any kind of weight beyond about 4 lbs, so I mostly did all the upper body exercises with the right arm only. Pretty strange since I'm a lefty. Guess I need to take it easy for another week or two. Dale plans to swim after I get back from my ultrasound. Water temp is up to 68° but he'll still wear a wetsuit. Maybe I can go next week. Not sure I can do a left arm stroke yet. Might be a slug tomorrow, other than baking some veggie burgers for lunch. New avatar is one I saw this morning and it was so cute I had to post it, even though it's past May Day.

Chele, no big plans for Cinco de Mayo, but that's a great price for margaritas and tacos! We had dinner from our favorite Tex-Mex takeout place a couple of nights ago. We're worried about them since they recently declared bankruptcy and closed several locations. Ours is still open and doing a good business. Some of them that closed are in shopping centers that have gone downhill, so it probably made sense to get rid of them. I hope they survive. Nice haul from the nursery!
Karen, your avatar is adorable! I honestly think people didn't really know what they were voting for with the amendment to raise the bar. The GOP was behind it since they didn't like some of the ones that were passed. Some environmental ones passed and we can't have that. Then there were issues with getting the legislature to carry out the amendments. I think NC is probably the closest state now depending where in FL someone lives. The clinics said they're getting calls and people are shocked to find about the new rules. It's been all over the news, but a lot of people don't watch or read any news. I would definitely take it easy with the arm until it feels better.
Linda, glad you have a good feeling about the surgery. The strongest feeling I've ever had that something would happen was when my sister and I entered a contest on the radio for a trip to Boston and a concert. It was the strangest feeling and I just knew we were going to win. I was listening when they said they were calling the winner and my phone didn't ring so I thought maybe I was wrong. Then they announced my sister's name!

Karen, you deserve a slug day hanging out with doggie!
that picture is so cute!
Kathy, yes, it is like that feeling you had. Interestingly it worked better when I lived in NY. I learned not to ignore the feeling when it said do not do that. Our states both have awful legislatures. Ours is so worried about losing that they actually repealed the 1874 law, but the regular law is pretty restrictive…yours is totally ridiculous.
People here really have very little idea what Cinco de Mayo is except for an excuse to eat Mexican food and get drunk…we stay off the roads!
