Good morning. 49, cloudy, but going to clear, high of 72.
Pinky, Tony picked Olive Garden to go to last night. I never got into that restaurant, so I was not too happy about it, but did not let on that I could have gone somewhere else. Funny, but both of us were looking at all the calories, so ordered accordingly, and with no wine. It was ok. He is still wanting to go across the lake, but thinks we can do it in 2.5 days, without going to Mackinaw Island. I told him I would think it over. Hope you had fun with your DS's. I also hope you get a break in the rain.
Marsha, I can really relate, with your feelings about needing a wardrobe refresher. I just do not really have the time or energy to put into doing that. You are getting into a workout grove, good job. I have a feeling I will end up backing out of Tony's little Michigan adventure, as it seems so rushed, but he is trying to accommodate me, so... Have a safe trip, and I hope the unveiling goes without much emotion.
Gareth, yes that is what Tony suggested. I would not mind sharing a room with him. There are ways to do that. In today's world the schools bend over backwards to deal with the mental/emotional issues of the students. We do not get the thunderstorms others are getting, which I would not mind a nice thunderstorm, but just during the day, lol.
Robin, what was going on with that student and his comments were/are well known to admin, and the counselors. I have a feeling he said it knowing I was close, and wanted to see how I would react. He was at school yesterday and was a bit better. I think it was the shock of her breaking up with him at the start of the school day the other day. Glad you are having a good time.
Carol, I truly laughed out loud reading that comment about the presentation Tony was going to make. That is how he talks, kind of like a stuffed shirt kind of guy. Will DS be all alone for the weekend, at home? Oh, I see you said her niece will be there, but not sure how long. The school I work at is a middle school, for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The student involved the other day is an 8th grader. I agree about the wording of what happened to that student being shot.
Anngie, now you can see what Tony had up his sleeve: going to Olive Garden (Whooppee!!) Not sure if 2.5 days would work, even though he thinks it would. I would be surprised if I go. Sorry about your computer. I still need to get around to buying a new laptop, something else always takes precedence over it.
These last 2 days have me looking forward to the end of the school year, that is for sure, with that other monitor calling in sick 2 days in a row. Plus, the sub monitor is filling in for the security desk woman. Yesterday there was no recess's since we were shorthanded and raining. Today I will take those kids out no matter if I am the only one out there or not, I just cannot stay in one more day with those 3 lunches. Yes, I would probably get fired if I did that, so it is just big talk by me, lol.

We had a light rain most of the day yesterday and then the sun came out about 5pm. It is sunny already this morning so that is nice for a change. We have had rain off and on for more than a week----I think we are up to 3 inches now. Somedays it just really doesn't do more than mist and produce a light rain-----we are thankful for the moisture but this is getting old so its great to see the sun. Short lived however as it is supposed to rain again tonight about 7 and then nice tomorrow and Sunday with thunderstorms on Monday and into Tuesday. Maybe after that the guys can get back in the field. It is 39 degrees now and going only to 58 for the day.
Had another great day with my sisters yesterday---they are so fun!! They all have a great sense of humor but one of them is really funny and so is her DH.
DSIL called me the other day and wondered if we could watch DGS's Saturday afternoon and overnight. It is our DD's birthday on May 9th and he wanted to surprise her with taking her to Sioux Falls for Saturday and coming back on Sunday. Of course I said yes and the plan is on. Not sure DD knows it yet as she hasn't said anything so I assume not. He said he wanted to surprise her----he loves to do that. I think their calendar is pretty full and this is what worked out to get away right now-----she will be 40 so this will help her get into the fact she is in another decade---LOL!!!
By the way, can any of you believe we are already into May???
Marsha---Have a safe trip.
Carol---I had seen on the CBS news a lot of rain in Texas----I am thinking this is south of you???
Karen---When is your last day of school? Hopefully the monitor is able to come back today---I am sure the kids are all getting restless and anxious for summer vacation. I love Olive Garden. Unless you really do not want to go on this trip with Tony I would really try to go as he seems to be trying to make it work for you-----and who doesn't love an adventure. You have worked hard and with the move you are going to be in need of some relaxation. But like I said if you really do not want to go you shouldn't.
I am over half way done with listening to The Measure and still not liking it that much----too many people to keep track of----but I really would like to know if the lengths of the strings in the boxes were really accurate or what the deal is----such a dilemma!!! I have finally come up for Tom Lake so would like to move on too.
Have a great day everyone!

Karen - I think going over on the ferry, staying overnight in Ludington, and back the next day on the ferry would be doable and fun. If he is thinking driving from Ludington up over Big Mac and back through the UP, it sounds like long day of driving. Maybe he is thinking drive up and over the bridge, stay another night, then home the next day. I like a nighttime thunderstorm. when I am home and safe.
Pinky - I'm glad you had fun yesterday. How nice that dsil is arranging a surprise getaway for dd!
I got my towels washed and the bed stripped and remade yesterday and washed the sheets that came off the bed this morning so I am on track for being ready to leave tomorrow. I need to wash some clothes so I have choices when I pack. I had trouble finding clean pants this morning and wore my last clean sports bra so there must be a lot of laundry to do. I'm going to pack workout clothes and try to get to the hotel gym on Sunday morning. The unveiling is at 11:00 so I should be able to get up and workout and have time for breakfast and a shower before db shows up ready to leave. I'm enjoying Pretty Girls on audio, but I have mixed feelings about World War Z on the kindle. It's different.

Karen, it sounds like you really do not want to go with Tony. Are you hesitant because you didn't think it was that kind of friendship, or I should say anything more than friendship, and this seems to intimate? I agree that it would be nice for you to have a little vacation. I don't remember you having one of those for a long time. Glad that the school is aware of that student. Sorry you didn't like your Olive Garden dinner, certainly not a place I would have chosen, but I am sure you were able to find something. We were actually joking about the calories listed on the menu, so at a place like Cheesecake Factory you can see that you are eating a 2000 calorie Chinese chicken salad. A SALAD, so many calories.
Marsha, Hope everything goes well with the weekend. At 98, I think your aunt is not doing anything more than expected. Complaining is something I think that they all feel they have earned the right to do by now.
Pinky, so nice for your DSIL to plan that surprise. And I am sure you will enjoy having the kids with you.
I don't think I told you all what I managed to do yesterday. DH had been down in the bar area because they were there for people to come down for tax tips. DS1 called me while he was driving Maddie home from school, with Jordi in the car because DDIL had her day in NYC, so I was a little later meeting him. When I got down to the lobby it was jammed with people checking in, all dragging their luggage, so I walked on the wrong side of the hostess stand and managed to trip on the heavy rubber mat at the hostess stand. I bruised the inside of my arm, and have a bruise on my knee. It doesn't particularly hurt, but I am annoyed at the hotel reaction to it. The hostess finally came back and I told her what happen and she should call the manager over. She did not right away. I realized my arm was bleeding quite a bit, so I went up to get it cleaned up, and the manager was there when I came down, finally, after about 1/2 hour. I didn't want to wait around, as I was trying to catch up to our group for dinner. Dinner was very nice but I was so full from the tea that I only had soup and salad, so I could have dessert. The dessert was such a big piece of a special chocolate cake that I cut off half of it and gave it to one of the guys. We did have fun time though talking about old times.

Robin - I am particularly surprised at the hotel's reaction to your accident because you were there with a group of lawyers! I worked for a company that owned hotels a long time ago - when I was a paralegal - and part of my job was managing accident reports and ensuing lawsuits. How are you feeling today?

Karen, though I can't really say Olive Garden is a favorite place to go I do love their soups and breadsticks. Shrimp scampi is good. DH loves their seafood Alfredo. What did you order? Qe have a gift certificate we need to be using there sometime.
Pinky, you're fortunate to spend time with your sisters and that you all get along so well and enjoy spending time together. My DS and I used to be really close. I miss that. Not sure why that's changed. Every time I reach out to her anymore I swear it's the last time I will especially when I called her a couple of weeks ago on the anniversary of her DS's passing. When I told her I was calling to let her know I was thinking of her on this day she snapped why? What's today? I was stunned and didn't know what to say.
Robin, sorry about your fall. Strange the hotel's reaction to it.
Beautiful, sunny day. Getting into the 70's. Just a one day reprieve though from the rain. It'll be back again tomorrow and cooler. We'll enjoy it while we can. We're going for a long walk before lunch.

Marsha, I am really feeling OK today. The bruises look a lot worse than they feel. I did just remember to take photos of the bruises, just in case. At the very least they should comp us something or throw us some points. We do have Hilton Honors, and we use them. We'll see. If I don't hear anything within a week, or see anything on our bill, even though it's already been paid, I'll call the Hilton main line, or worse, post it on Twitter or something like that, then I will get a reaction.
Gareth, that is too bad about your DS. Usually people never forget these things.
I just sat in on the session about dementia and it was excellent. I have pages of notes. It also showed that what people think of as dementia, the not remembering people, and things that have happened, what they ate this morning for breakfast, etc., is not the only thing that is considered dementia. People can carry on a perfectly coherent conversation but then do other things cognitively that are part of dementia, such as what they client of ours did.

Robin, sorry about your fall. Odd reaction from the hotel. Good you remembered to take pictures.
Gareth, strange reaction, too, from your sister.
It is my sister's daughter, my niece who just came. My sister has been divorced for years and has lived alone since her son went off to college and he is 51 now. Between posting yesterday and going to my cut and color, I decided to call my niece. It turned out that Wednesday night my sister was transferred from one hospital to the one who would put the stent in. I don't how the insurance changed its mind, maybe my nephew yelled or begged, but anyway she had the procedure Thursday morning. They had been giving her painkillers so she was sleeping mostly. My niece got in at midnight and went directly to the hospital. She said the prep for the procedure started early in the morning so she was exhausted. I haven't heard anything since I talked to my niece but I did get a text that they would e-mail later. She will be transferred to the first hospital she was in. It's been a roller-coaster ride. We are just so thankful she was able to be transferred without going home first. My niece is planning to stay for a while.
My hair person is having hospice to come in to help with her husband. It is too much for her. She can barely get him from the couch to a wheelchair. Sometimes he can use a walker. He does not look good.
Everyone was so excited when we finally got an Olive Garden here. It's okay, IMO. We've only been there a few times. It is not a place I would pick. I do like the breadsticks. It was the same way with Red Lobster. Everytime a new restaurant was going in, people would say they hope it was Red Lobster. My favorite thing is the biscuits and I think you can get a mix for them at Walmart.

So sorry Carol, thinking of you and hoping for the best. Things must have been more advanced than you thought, although I know that they weren't really saying.
I took a nice walk this afternoon, ended up in stopping in at the new store for the company DDIL2 works for, it was great, I took a little video and sent it to her. They started out as an online only company, and they recently branched out to have stores at places like where I was, Newberry Street in downtown Boston. I also picked up what I wanted to get for DDIL1's Mother's Day gift, so will give that to her tomorrow. No card to buy at CVS.
