Good morning all. Comfort food sure adds up fast, just lunch was over 1000 calories. Guess I will focus on my NSV of not eating the candy from the chocolate store at knitting and not really having dinner. We had some crackers and cheese, I had 4 pieces and some trail mix. Was just feeling a bit down after my good feels day. My sis had sent a message a few days ago that they were having car trouble with the Toyota she bought from us 3 years ago. It had died on her going to work after some weird lite came on, but not the engine light. They had it towed for service and the place is saying she fried the engine and it should be scrapped. WTH? That car should have gone another 50,000 plus miles! Why didn't an engine or overheating light come on? So strange and of course my cousin and I have "mean" ideas that it's something her DH messed up as he will never take the cars in because he can "save them money" by doing everything. I think if it had gone to the dealer or shop in the last year and they'd done the computer diagnostics and checked all the fluids maybe it wouldn't have happened. BUt, maybe not, just seem awfully strange. Now months before she wants to retire they are back to one car that has also had some weird problems. A nice big truck that hasn't really worked right for years because he keeps fixing things but never gets it right so they don't really drive it! And no money to buy something else. ARRRGGGH. I know it's not my circus, but it always seems to happen to them. 2ce my mom gave them cars and one was parked out by the barn because he has so much junk in the garage that it was out in the winter, a big hunk of ice/snow fell off the roof and totaled that one. OK, rant over. I just feel so badly for her and she feels guilty like she wrecked it and I hope that isn't being pointed out by you know who. I need to get this day moving. Need to get some steps today and at least the sun is shining outside. We will start putting some things in the Van today. I need to make up the bed in there and see how the new foam mattress feels. Still looking for a bike rack. Better make my to do list and then start to-doing
Have a great day all. Jan
Cindy Hope the MRI gives you some answers. Yay for DS going to do the Costco run, not a fun job on a Friday. The snake explanation makes sense with no evidence left. I don't know about that kind of snake but in Cali they would say lay a rope by places you didn't want rattlesnakes because they didn't like to crawl over the rough surface. Could be old wives tale but who knows. We like to do Perkins now and then at knitting as there are all different menu choices for everyone. I know better than to get the soup and sandwich but it just sounded right yesterday. My friend got the soup and a piece of Strawberry pie, have to say I probably would have been happier with that! IT's a pick 2 thing lunch special for $10.00 so pretty good deal. I think the cats notice all the stuff on the table getting ready for packing but so far still just in the eat and sleep mode. Enjoy your coffee and thanks for starting us.
Amy The gondola ride and day sound lovely. I bet you are wishing you could stay a little longer in each place, but maybe you are seeing the highlights and that's how you can get to more places. Enjoy your last two days. By Monday it will all feel like a dream
Was the meal with all the courses part of the tour or just a normal meal at a restaurant? Can you take to go containers or is it not worth it because there will be so much more the next day? Hope you got some sleep and were ready to get back on the bus this morning. How is Papa bear today
Cathy Sounds like you have a plan for lunch. Sorry the netting was flapping and woke you up. Hope you can finish the book and review today.
Liz Glad you are feeling better. We leave Wednesday morning with @ 410 miles planned for the first day. Not as far as sometimes but we are doing some more back roads so slower travel and I don't want to end up driving until 7 at night and then still have to figure out a meal etc. If we both stay the course for now, at least having to find a grocery or liquor store won't be adding to the stress each night when we arrive somewhere! ha ha. But we'll see how it goes, I' still a bit tentative how DH will destress after riding in the car all day, a few beers has always been his MO and I would join him with some wine. Made it easy to fall asleep camping when it got dark altho not so happy the next morning when you started to drive with that morning headache. Could be a new experience for us, can we handle staring at each other in a small space each night?
Better get moving. Check in later friends.
