Welcome to the Clutter Patrol, formerly CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good late afternoon all. Quiet day on here. Iām sure Dottie is at DGDās 1st communion. And Joy is probably at work today. Hope she had lots to do. Waving hi to Martha & Bonnie. Bonnie, we miss you. Come back and visit. Unless youāre really busy tossing and organizing things! š¤£
We didnāt even wake up this morning until 9:00 am. It was dark & dreary and raining. And neither of us slept very well last night. Sawyer is having some issues and was on my mind. Stan thought he was over tired from walking after having gone to peddling class in the morning.
Not much going on here all day. Talked to our neighbor for a few minutes. Stan was out with Maggie and talked to the neighbor on the other side. They have both replaced furnace, AC, and water heaters and we wondered what company each had used. Iām going to call and get some estimates next week. We picked the carpet sample we like from the 3 we picked up. Itās got a little bit of a design to it and we both like the looks of it.
Not sure what weāll do for dinner. Weāve had the Kentucky Derby coverage on for hours and the race is still an hour and a half away! They run some other races and all and Stan enjoys that.
Next week is busy. Monday Stan has peddle class and we leave that a little early to get to his appt with the Motion Specialist Neurologist. Tuesday Iām helping DD pack and he has boxing. Every day is like that.
Ok, going to figure out if Iām cooking or weāre picking something up for dinner before the actual Derby race. Have a great evening all and Iāll try to log in tomorrow!

Good morning,
Work was just work yesterday, nothing out of the ordinary.
Today was my day of waking up late. The sound of the rain is great on a sleepy morning. I have laundry going, another load will follow.
Making a meal plan for next week, will go grocery shopping tomorrow. Thinking of bbq chicken and potatoes for a couple of days, not sure about the rest. Will look into some individual bowl ideas.
I was looking through our senior center activities for May. I think I might try out the Zumba class tomorrow late afternoon. Iām also thinking about chair yoga during the week. Could be fun.
Enjoy your day, see you tomorrow

Joyce, thatās great that you have some choices to check out at the senior center. Let us know what you decide. Raining here also.
Ruth, are you planning to replace your furnace, AC and water heaters due to problems or because you want new ones for when you sell. Sounds like you will have a very busy week next week. Hope your weather will be better than my weather.
Waving to Bonnie and Martha.
Yesterday was very nice but I was exhausted when we got home. I went to bed at 9 and slept till 7 this morning. Iām not sure why I was so tired but at least today I feel good. I was on FB and found someone selling 2 end tables, coffee table, credenza for behind a sofa and a TV stand for $35.00. The items were crate and barrel and what I have been looking for. The seller was 2 towns away but took us less than 10 minutes to get there. The owner helped us load the first 3 items in our SUV and we came home and unloaded them. We went back to get the other 2. Our old tables we will donate to church, they are having a big sale and someone from church will come and pick them up for us. We will move things in one night during the week except for the TV stand. Bill has quite a bit of stereo equipment and quite a few CDs stored in there so that might take him a few nights to organize. Everything is in the garage right now so hopefully this project wonāt take too long.
I still have quite a few Business Attire items that I wore to the job I retired from in 2012. Iām getting rid of most of them. Quite a few of the ones Iām getting rid of were bought at consignment or thrift stores. When I was working there many companies went to Business Casual but my company kept Business Attire so I had to buy things for work and it seemed like there were quite a few choices when I went looking for items in thrift stores and all at great prices, blazers for 4 or 5 dollars, blouses for 3. I definitely got my use out of them and they are still in good condition so hopefully someone else will also.

Good late afternoon all. Woke to glorious sunshine this morning. Got to 70 this afternoon. Stan got most of the mowing done. I donāt think he did he weed whipping or trimming with the push mower, maybe tomorrow. Heās working on some sprinkler heads too. They were out and opened up the sprinkler system and said there were 4 heads that needed replacing, and theyād be $75 each! šµāš«. Stan said heād take care of them. So he ordered 2 new ones for like $20 and he had 2 in the garage. He went out and worked on the 4 and got 3 of them working w/o replacing anything. He said heāll need all 4 new ones he has at some point so heāll keep them.
We decided to go out for a late lunch since he was mowing and I was working on laundry. Went to Perkins and mostly had breakfast which we both enjoy out. Then ran to Target and picked up a few things.
Stan had an issue with the saliva that thickens in his throat and causes swallowing issues yesterday. He had tried to swallow some water and when it wonāt go down he said he feels like heās drowning. During the night when I couldnāt sleep, the idea came to me about trying one of those bulb things you use to suction mucus out of a babyās nose. I wondered if he could use it on his throat or I could and get the water and maybe some of the saliva out and make swallowing easier. He said worth a shot so we picked up one at Target. He also has some pills that heās not fond of using and he used 1/2 of one of those yesterday. But he has to practically vomit to get the throat cleared out first. And I bought some tea thatās supposed to be good for throats and he tried that too. And we may ask tomorrow about speech therapy because that might help him too. The throat muscles become weak or freeze up and that makes it worse. Both swallowing and speech.
Tomorrow at 1:00 he has his appt with the Movement Specialist Neurologist. He has pedal class until almost 12:30 so Iām going to go with him tomorrow and heāll cut out 5-10 min early and get his shower and Iāll have something for him to eat and Iāll drive down to the appt. Luckily itāll only take us 15-20 min to get there. Will be interesting to see what she has to say about him. And thereās a Strutherās Parkinsonās specialty center in the neurology bldg and we havenāt seen it yet and we really want to. This doctor works both for Health Partners (our clinic group) and Strutherās so sheāll be able to fill us in on it. They have support groups and other things so thatās what we are interested in. That and other exercise things and whatever.
Joy, donāt you love sleeping in like that?! We were like that yesterday. Dark and rainy and it was 9 before either of us woke up. I have a bowl I make for us. Itās from a place called Crisp & Green, and is really a kid bowl, but itās my favorite so I make it often for Stan and I. Itās black beans, brown rice (I used microwave packets), diced chicken breast, a little shredded cheese of your choice; avacado and lime juice on top. I make most of it in the microwave and just brown chicken tenders or breasts. Quick. Easy. And good. And you can control portions and except for the avacado & lime juice, you could make up multiple bowls and just add those 2 things right before you eat it.
Dottie, you really got a deal on that furniture. Iād love to find something like that. Was each piece $35 or the entire lot? Either way a great deal. Iām finding the older I get the more tired the grands or travel make me. Stan too.
You asked about the furnace, AC, and water heater. They are all still working, but they will all be 24 years old August 1st; and well past their predicted life span. We want to replace them so that we arenāt w/o AC this summer or heat next winter; or donāt end up with a basement full of water if the water heater were to fail. That happened to DF Rita, next door at the other house. Was a real mess because 3/4 of her basement was finished with carpet and all. Weāre not going to be in any hurry to sell. Want to fix up the house and update some things and replace some old things like those; but try to enjoy it as long as we can. We have a 3.1% mortgage and we couldnāt rent a 2 bedroom apartment for what we pay for our mortgage, so stay here weāll try for as long as possible.
Ok, need to do a few more chores. Told Stan Iād wash his grapes (they think itās possible that the pesticides and other things they spray on fruits/veggies may be a contributor to Parkinsonās) and I have strawberries and blueberries to wash too.
Have a good evening all. More tomorrow!
