This thread is for all of us who have been on the weight loss merry-go-round quite a few times. We have banded together to make this our FINAL time. We offer support & motivation, WEIGHT LOSS TIPS, food ideas – whatever you need to make it your FINAL time. If you start the day’s thread, please copy and paste this paragraph.
Carole: 1.) Greatly decrease alcohol 2.) Track daily, being mindful of my macros 3.) Make movement a daily habit 4.) Be thankful each and every day ♥ 5.) Organize the house and photos
Karen: 1) Count my blessings each day in my planner 2.) Track my food daily on the Noom app 3.) Continue to conquer the areas of my home that need special love 4.) Intentionally Move More

This is a time to get organized to reduce stress and frustrations.. 3.) Drink more water....even if it's hard...make it a priority...a continued "work in progress" for me!! 4.) Get to the pool....it makes me feel good, it's my happy place...no excuse!! Shoot for 3 days a week to start!! 5.) Be kind to ME!! Remember you can't be all things to everyone especially if you don't take care of you first!

Ahhh....welcome to Saturday! Hoping that this is a day when we all might find some time to take care of ourselves in some way and enjoy some time to just do nothing. The rain is moving in today ---and is supposed to be pretty drenching. I am running this morning (I think we'll just beat the rain) and then taking my mom to look at the place in the retirement community nearby. She shared comps that her real estate agent friend prepared and she told me that she plans to put down a deposit on the new place today--this is the most committed she has ever sounded about this so I think it might really happen! I am glad to be hear to help. I think that I mentioned that yesterday and Thursday were the "first of my lasts"....the first of the committees that I have been working on for 10 years where it was my LAST meeting. It was super nice too--they gave me an orchid and said some really nice things (even Josh from the state department shared a memory of when he first met me 10 years ago)....I held it together (the tears were on the brink though)...it was just so nice. I still have no regrets and appreciate people taking the time.
Carole: I really liked how you ended your post yesterday where you said that your posts here are your journaling ---- I agree with that! I always tell people that I am not a "journal person" but you are right...that is how it is here. I think that it is one thing to write to yourself (which I find isn't really my thing) and another to write and get to hear others and consider their thinking too (which I prefer). Which do you prefer? That is so interesting about the ramp and your house. I didn't realize that it was even there....and there is a law about knocking down birds nests? I don't think we have one here, but we try not to. You are right though, they pick the most inconvenient places sometimes. Thank you for your caring words....it is pretty darn stressful right now, but some of these things will be over soon and I need to just focus on one thing at a time, I think. The court case is a GO for Wed/Thurs (they only moved it one day forward this time). I just want this behind us. And, after today, we might have more info on mom's next steps. I think that my siblings will come and help her pack up her house. She is going to have to get rid of a LOT of stuff. It would be great if the couple who is coming to see the house tomorrow would love it and want to buy it....but I am not going to get my hopes up too much on that one. We will see. Oh, I do hope that Zoe can come today and have time around the guys....yes, I can see why you would want her to have that time. I see your house as a haven for her in some ways too. Hoping that you have a good day today.
Sue: How was the game? Did you stay warm (I hope)? I hope that you can enjoy your outside space maybe on Mother's Day--will the weather be better then? How great to finally have the driveway and all of that done!
Christine: Hoping for a CALM weekend for you and some relaxing time --- maybe in the chair on the porch if the weather isn't so great?
Jenny: I hope that the earlier meeting goes well for you today...and starts some new routines even?
Hello to Jo, Karen, and all who follow. I need to get ready to go running. Have a good day--I might pop in later on this rainy day.

Good morning ☼
Gabrielle: Thanks for starting us off before your run. Hoping you beat the rain. Our weather has changed from rain today to partly cloudy! Right now it is a beautiful sunny morning☼
I do hope your visit with Mom goes well, and a decision is made. Yes, it would be wonderful if the couple coming to see the house wants to buy! Kinda like strike while the iron is hot!! Get your mom packing before she can have 2nd thoughts! {{{hugs}}}
Congratulations! I love that the committee gave you a gift, and recognized your leaving ♥
Yes... I mean I still journal to myself, but in a different way. Here I can write things that I don't necessarily want anyone (but you ladies) to read! LOL Ya' know... if something happens to me and my journals are found... and read... there will be some hard feelings, I think! So I have actually started throwing them away! I have my grandmother's "diary" from the year I was born. MAN Do I wish I had asked to keep all of them... after I was born... but... hindsight. They are gone now! Anyway - she wrote the temps each day, and what she did during the day, and just oddball stuff like that. Nothing she wouldn't want anyone to read later.
1.) Greatly decrease alcohol - Day 4! I did make a pitcher of Zero alcohol Margaritas, and took one to the tub in the afternoon!! Just hit the spot, after my day of power washing! 2.) Track daily, being mindful of my macros - Also Day 4 of tracking honestly and hitting my goals! 3.) Make movement a daily habit - Power washed yesterday, not sure what today will be. 4.) Be thankful each and every day ♥ Today I am thankful that my granddaughters want to come up to spend time together. I know they aren't coming to see ME, but that's OK, they will be here. ♥ I am also thankful that Tracy & Tim will come put the pool back together. With mine & Ken's knees, we admit we need the help! 5.) Organize the house and photos - Not today!! Spending time with the girls, and then getting the pool parts put back together!!
OK Time to hit the road and get the girls picked up. If they are willing we will hit the grocery store for a few things, mostly produce for their snacks today! Eden will want cucumbers & Zoë will want blueberries or strawberries!!
Might check back later - Enjoy a SWEET Saturday my friends
♥hugs♥

Good morning! It's been quite the week. I've been in pain since last week. Went to the Dr Monday. My neck, shoulder hurt so bad now it had spread to ny back. Sitting on the heating pad.
My boss asked I wanted to take on something new for the dance account I'm on. I said sure why not. It is so totally different when what I do now. The guy who is training me is leaving Friday so nit much give to train. They also use a different production plant that has its on system which I will have to learn. Oh my! all this while still doing my current job. My co workimer goes on vacation for 2 weeks May 29th so I told I can't help while she is away. It will be very overwhelming to be handling everything myself.
Away enough complaining. Today it's reading and we get the dogs groomed this morning. What fun. It's rained most of the week and is supposed to next week as well.

Good Morning
Yes, today is the new time for my meeting so I will go to the 9:00am meeting come home clean my house and then at noon I need to go to the store for my parents then go to Kerry's dads birthday dinner, he turned 93 yesterday, so we will go have Chinese for dinner and celebrate him. I have tomorrow to mow the lawn and relax for me then back to work.
Like our Gabrielle, it's just going to rain this weekend except on Sunday morning so I will have a window to mow the grass, at the end of next week into next weekend it's going to heat up into the 80's so I'm looking forward to next weekend and getting some planting of flowers done for my yard. I bought a wisteria tree for my back yard so I'm going to plant that as well. I love wisteria tree's they are so pretty in the spring time.
OK gotta get in the shower have a sweet Saturday

Morning Gabrielle, Carole and all to come...weather reality has set in....still early spring and the 50's are back for today with rains and VERY breezy! It's getting old that the weekends are usually yucky weather and while we are working the weather is gorgeous! Not fair! I just keep reminding myself that retirement will be here soon and every day can be a weekend if I want it to be!! LOL!!
House is quiet now....going WAY back to catch up a bit....my week was a long, "off" kind of week and was just all out of sorts throughout the week...nothing huge but just "off"....hoping for a better week ahead. With the lousy weather this weekend I will not be putting the porch furniture together but I'm sure I can find something that needs attention in this house but decided I was going to catch up here while enjoying my coffee and the quiet this morning....boys spent the night at Josh's and Sarah will get them later for the rest of the weekend. Trying to juggle the baseball schedules between Colton and Kellen, Josh and Sarah agreed that he could take the Friday of here weekend since she had them 3 nights instead of 2 this school week. Glad they can juggle...just makes it hard for me sometimes when I'm planning meals, never know who will be here....
Jenny....so glad Audrey had a great party....had to laugh when you said your dad was having issues with the band...a grunge rock band would drive me insane too! I'm a Country or 70's-80's kind of girl!! Definitely NOT my kind of music either!! I do love crab legs!! Good plan to bring yours home and enjoy them when you weren't too full from the beer! Glad you and your usual meeting gang are planning to give the 9:00am a try....is it the same leader as your meeting??? Nice touch to add the "welcome note"
Gabrielle...I do love the sunrise in the mornings again...while I'm in the minority and don't mind the darkness in the morning and LOVE the extra light in the evening...it is nice to see the sunrise over the trees out the living room windows as I enjoy my morning coffee.....now the sun rises before I even get up so I need to wait until fall to enjoy it again....sunrise this morning was 6:03am. Even during the week I don't get up until 6:15 so it's up and shining bright by then....still low in the sky....we are right about in the middle of the time zone so I'm sure for Christine is a bit later. I always used to be amazed how much earlier it was on the Cape when DM lived there...I looked just now and sunrise was 5:30am in Eastham, MA where my mom lived.....I was just telling someone about how late the sunset was in Ludington, MI when we were all there as a family and it was still light at 10:00pm....I checked their sunrise too and today sunrise was 6:30am....a whole hour difference from one side of the time zone to the other and see how different it is from "home" that you get used to each day!!
Yes Gabrielle...the view from out backyard was definitely a selling factor for us many years ago....knowing that we do not have public sewer and it will never be cost effective to put it out here because of all the wasted line past the lake we have to have either sand mound or traditional septic tank/drain field and that needs bigger lots for houses.....while there are more houses on our street now than when we moved in they have to have 3 acres to put a hour....I keep reminding Jason that if they do sell a farm out here and divide it for residential 10 acres will put up 3 houses....in town developments are 4-5 houses/acres and that would mean 40-45 houses instead of 3!! Thankfully the 19 acres that Shea's parents bought can NOT be subdivided so the view behind us will remain open and farm land.... Yes, a farmer does use that field but because there is a gas main under the land they can not plow and farm it for corn or other crops....it is only used for the hay and is baled a couple times a year....it's fun to hear the tractors and balers out there and watching the bails get tossed from the bailer into the trailer behind it.....it's a very obvious sound when you hear the bailer tossing those bales!! Ah country living!! LOVE it!!
Carole....I agree and so does everyone else...the chairs are very comfy. Again I learned the lesson about patio furniture with cushions...we have never had a patio or outside furniture so never had to remember to bring in the cushions when they are calling for rain...I did it on Monday when it rained overnight and the two chairs that were done got wet....guess what, I did it again last night...I meant to take them in when I got home from the game and got sidetracked and forgot. I'm going to go out and get them between showers today and put them in the garage to dry out since we have rain/showers for the next 4 days.....I thought were done with April Showers but apparently not....
The boys are both excited for a fire soon....they wanted to do one this weekend but with the rains, not happening!! I told them the next time they are here for the weekend we will try to have one....I smile when I see Jackson sitting out there in the evening on his tablet playing his games....I think the table and chairs will get plenty of use this summer. I'm excited to start to enjoy the outside spaces that we now have....will admit I think the "bug free" screened in porch will be my favorite spot but we'll see....
Unfortunately Carole I think you are right about Patti not being at all receptive to the possibility that the VR and tablet sites/videos are causing issues with Zoe....while I don't love all the time some kids spend on technology, some technology can be productive and a lot of good, clean fun....but there are so many things kids can get into and watch that are NOT for young eyes and unless you have really strong parental blocks on the technology kids can access things that are WAY too mature/violent and NOT what kids should be watching!!

Jenny....so excited you were able to extend the length of your New England trip....wish I was able to venture up again to see you for a day or two since you really are going to be "close" but unfortunately September is a CRAZY month at work and we would have already been up there the weekend before you arrive!! Enjoy every minute!! YAY for DS continuing to help you out with your parents and their shopping...nice the burden is not 100% on you anymore!! WOW, that ankle really is taking a long time to heal completely. Does it hurt or is it just intermittent swelling???
Gabrielle....YAY for warming mornings....sunshine regardless of the temps is so much better than the dreary, rainy weather...hopefully spring is definitely finally coming!! Guess we are all enjoying a rainy, cold front this weekend....NOT!! Thankfully today is the only day in the 50's, but the rains continue through Tuesday.... UGH, sorry the court date is pushed off AGAIN!! Fingers crossed by the 8th this will finally behind you!! I hope the judge doesn't add an extra day for exhibits, especially since many are the same/duplicated. Will admit, I'm happy that the day extension makes it possible to attend the year end celebration...I know you were bummed you were going to have to miss it!! YAY for getting the colonoscopy moved up....fingers crossed a day pops up in May but unfortunately with the length of the prep it is not a "last minute" kind of switch. Yes, 3:00pm is a tough time....Jason had one at 2:00pm once...he hated it....makes for a long, miserable only water.
Christine....thanks again for getting us started. Glad you are back to getting on the TM. Good job increasing the speed. Hey, baby steps....yes, while only "moderate" according the technology, you got your heart rate up, you got a good "sweat" going...that's a good workout and in time you will get stronger and faster....don't push it......when this speed no longer challenges you, bump it up again.....all good things take time!! Glad Gary helped with the rocking chairs so you can at least enjoy the porch in the rainy weather....I wish my screened in porch was the first "finished" space but at least I can still enjoy the Adirondack chair on the porch....I know, I need to be patient but now I'm itching to get things done outside to enjoy the ALL the new spaces!!
Yes Christine, the patio is right outside the window where the computer sites and the Wi-Fi router comes into the house. The signal is strong on the patio and the booster is on the wall right by the door to the screened in porch so we have strong Wi-Fi in all our outside spaces....I have a feeling we may have a small TV on the screened in area at some point...nothing big, just something to watch a ballgame or movie while enjoying the evening....that is something for another time....I can watch on my laptop at this point so it's not high on the priority list of "need to buy" at this point!
Hope the Watchman procedure helps Virginia since her consistency with taking her meds is unreliable....if I remember right when DFIL had this done, he was in overnight because he had to lay flat with a sandbag on the incision site to stop the bleeding. He had to take blood thinners for a month or so afterwards and then he stopped....it's done frequently and hopefully it will held. LOL, yes, it's hard to know what to believe when Virginia share information....unless you go straight to the source, I think you will always be dealing with that question. Unfortunately DM doesn't want to include you in all appointments so you will likely always get "part" of the truth and part fabrication to fit Virginia's world. Hang in there.....
Gabrielle...it was really nice to come home last night and back into a nice smooth driveway not worrying about dips and cracks!! Thursday after we finished up the chairs, the boys were having fun on their scooters and roller blades....they set up a "goal" to play street hockey too!! They were having a blast!! Now they will have to work around the cars now but the driveway is big enough for cars and play area!! Yes, spring is definitely in full swing here and it's so nice to see the green again...winter everything looks so bleak and drab!! Love this time of year!!
Well....as I tried to share before I lost my HUGE post the other night....I did not get to the pool on Tuesday...it was a crazy "last day of the month" and by the end of the day I was in a foul mood, had a headache and just didn't feel like going....I since I was not going to be getting my "pay day sushi" on Thursday, I stopped on my way home Tuesday and went home feel sorry for myself!! Like I mentioned, this week I'm been "off" a little and Tuesday was one of those days I just didn't care!!
Gabrielle...so glad to hear DM is more "willing" to consider the move now and I'm sure she will be fine once she moves and gets settled. I think maybe seeing the people on Sunday last week that are still very independent and social will help in her recognizing that this in not a move to place "just to die" but more to thrive in her senior days, safely and comfortably without the worries and challenges of home ownership. I always laugh when we visit DM...on Friday night they have "Happy Hour" in the dining area and they serve beer, wine and simple hors d'oeuvres from 4:00-6:00 before dinner....apparently it's a well attended weekly event!! It sounds like she is also being more realistic about the financial side of things and not wanting to live so frugally just to have the 2 bedrooms....will be thinking of you today as you check out the 2nd option....fingers crossed this is the LAST time you go through this venture!!

Gabrielle....as I read through the post to Carole and read you mom's description of her hard wood floors it makes sense that her idea of what she has still seems less than what she thinks she should have?? Honestly it doesn't make sense and hard to wrap my head around things like that. I'm sure "hind sight" regarding the renters now is nagging a bit at her but she made that choice and now she will need to financially be responsible moving forward knowing that and might have to make compromises and not always get what she thinks she needs. I don't thing she expects you or any of your siblings to contribute to her retirement living.
Makes me smile Gabrielle each time you mention "one more of my lasts" as you finish out this school year. While I'm sure many of the events/obligations are bittersweet, I'm sure you are looking forward to moving into the next phase of life...you have dedicated so many years to education and it's time you to enjoy new things and make new memoires outside of the school atmosphere!! UGH....I know you will NOT miss those late Friday afternoon meetings!!
Sorry your Tuesday was as "off" as mine....we all knows we will have days that and they will pass but still a struggle when we have to deal with them. Glad you reached out to the sleep doctor with your questions. I'll be curious what the O2 test is?? Never heard of anyone have that done!! Keep us posted on that one!! Hope too Ken gets some answers from his sleep doctor and maybe a recommendation to see is PCP about he cough....he was sick the same time and Jason and Jason's cough is finally gone!!
I know you have said often that Patti is a "tough nut to crack" so I'm sure this will NOT be an easy conversation and she will likely get defensive. While it's not a conversation to point blame an anyone, it something that everyone should be working together on and monitoring for the sake of Zoe....as I mentioned, I'm sure a lot of what Zoe watches or plays on her tablet is perfectly fine for her age but I also know it is very easy to get to NOT APPROPRIATE for kids stuff. Tonya is also fighting the same battles with her daughter Tasha who fails to see that a lot of Gabriel's behavior, language and issues is from stuff he gets on the tablet....he has innocently mentioned to Tonya when questioned..."oh, Mimi, I see it on YouTube when I play in the night if I wake up" or "Mimi, I found this game on my tablet".....Tasha gets all defensive and tunes her out but it's very obvious that the tablet and content is the issue and he is NOT getting it at Tonya's house because she has all the controls on her TV and iPad so he can't access it there when she watches him....it is coming from time at Tasha's place. I will say, I don't envy you in the conversation but feel free to vent away here!
Carole...good for you starting fresh as May began....I haven't checked my measurements in ages but I do know since starting at the pool things are toning up and clothes fit better...I had no trouble fitting into my summer things last week when I dug them out for the week....usually I start the summer with them a bit snug but they were actually looser this year! As for my weight since the pool....still the same.... YAY for your weight being down but will admit the measurements being up seems odd??? Could it be you didn't measure in the exact same spot so they are varied a bit??? LOVE that you are willing to share you insights here with us and we all know that sometimes being accountable to someone other than ourselves helps make thing sink in a bit more.....your honest look at what you have been doing and where you need to go moving forward is awesome. So proud of you and your commitment to making some changes and re-evaluating some of your past choices. ....as I read through the post to Carole and read you mom's description of her hard wood floors it makes sense that her idea of what she has still seems less than what she thinks she should have?? UGH....I know you will NOT miss those late Friday afternoon meetings!!
Carole...how cool Ken is looking at a walking mat....maybe he will share?? The cushions on the patio are treated and the water is just beading up and when you tip them it rolls right off, I might try just sitting them on end against the back of the chair and see if this is something I don't need to worry about if some surprise rain pops up!! I know the screened in porch I don't need to worry about. I also know that it will take some getting used to having the outside areas to deal with but happy to take on the challenge!! I agree, the chairs are comfy w/o the cushions too! I tried them out before I unwrapped the cushions. I will say the cushions are nice in shorts....you don't stick to them! LOL!!
Carole...I love that Eden thinks you look prettier now...that's so sweet. I agree with the girls, when I see old pictures you share I'm amazed how much all three of you girls look...depending on the picture have to really look to figure out who is who!! Will admit, it makes me sad that Patti and Kathy do not talk about Matt and share their memories of him with Zoe....as I mentioned when he passed away, Zoe was so young and her memories will be few and it's up the the adults to keep Matt "alive" in her heart and help her see that she is like him in many ways....like her silliness you mentioned the other day!! I totally understands your concern for Zoe and the lack of concern on the part of Patti and Kathy??? Just makes me wonder why???
Gabrielle...I love the "well being" thoughts....yes, so many times we focus so much on the food and exercise we forget the other things we need to be completely whole....like sleep, relaxation, socialization outside work, so many things are involved in our overall well being some times it's hard to keep every "ball in the air" and we fall to juggle successfully all the parts of the puzzle!! So glad you took the day to get some much needed sleep and opted out of the gym/workout! Sleep is so important and often the thing that suffers the most!!
Carole...YAY for no jury duty!! I'm guessing things got settled out of court?? Will say it's odd that your FitBit shows 81 for your sleep but your Sleep App says 100....I'm thinking your Sleep App only measures your breathing and your Fitbit measures over all restlessness, tossing turning, sleep cycles....they are not measuring the same thing. What does the O2 on your Fitbit show....less yellow??? If the FitBit is showing all green or at lease less yellow than before the CPAP that means the CPAP is likely doing what it's supposed to for your O2 status but there might be something else causing restless sleep captured on the Fitbit?? Just a thought???
I know you have said often that Patti is a "tough nut to crack" so I'm sure this will NOT be an easy conversation and she will likely get defensive. So proud of you and your commitment to making some changes and re-evaluating some of your past choices.
Do tell Carole....what scanner did you get?? I know the original one didn't save right to the computer and that was a PITA....that too is one mf my projects for my retirement and would love to get your input on what you bought and how it works!!
Christine....thanks for starting us off Thursday....love the play on words with the "May'ed" it a new month!! I will say both boys are glad to have the PSSAs behind them now.....not a favorite time of year for them. Sorry the staff tends to call off this time of year causing you scheduling snafus.....I'm sure it is frustrating to deal with this every year!! WOW, can't believe that bus issue....how can that happen??? OMG and a dentist appointment thrown in the mix!! Glad you just kept the appointment and let the others deal with things for 45 minutes!! YAY for a little pampering with you hair appointment....while a quick side trip heading out for dinner is not a bad thing but adding one more pair to an already plentiful supply of Skechers just because it was a good price seems a bit excessive to me!! Sorry it made for a late night!! GREAT job getting in 150 minutes of cardio...love your commitment!!
Carole...sorry the site was being wonky for you on Thursday....I didn't notice anything on my end but I was on earlier than you were. Oh my, it's not a hard choice for me....a little OT is a dream to enjoy 5 days w/o Tonya!! May is usually fairly quiet so it shouldn't be too much OT if any.....Tonya and Gloria only had OT when I was in TX because of two GIANT screw up by customers....otherwise they would have been fine....this time of year as school years are winding down, we get quiet so Gloria and I will be busy but shouldn't be overwhelmed like we could be other times of the year!
Yes Carole...the diagnosis of any cancer is NOT a good thing but the Wilms tumor is the best case scenario as far as kidney cancer when it comes to treatment and prognosis for a cure. For that reason we were all relieved when the diagnosis came out.....Irelyn started her chemo on Thursday and tolerated it fairly well....not sure of the schedule or length of chemo yet but treatment has begun and that's a good thing.

OK ladies...if that last post seems to just between days....it probable does....my laptop had a "hiccup" and triple posted things so I copied it, pasted in WORD and tried to delete duplications....but as I read through it, I know things are out of order....just ignore the crazy scattered mess....I have been up and down doing "this and that" so not sure what happened. UGH!!

Carole...so glad Tracy came to join you on Thursday for a bit of HT time....I'm sure she does miss that living in her own place but she also knows that it is always there for her to enjoy as well!! Where did you find the zero alcohol liquors?? I know there are beers like that but didn't realize there were other options as well?? Hope you got all the clothes gone through for the girls....Sarah and the boys are doing that right now.....both boys wear the same size in some things so when they outgrow things there are no hand me downs from one to the other for some things....same thing happened with Hannah and Sarah....all of sudden gone were the days of passing things down to save $$. Sounds like you have been very organizes this week with all your food prep and planning! Good job!! OK Carole....I'm trying to visualize where you have a ramp but can't picture it! Birds and their "dropping" and nesting is frustrating....so far we have no nests started since the awning over the front door is gone and all the porch is closed in so no nesting spots in the rafters. That keeps too "poop" off my new porch!!
Gabrielle...thanks for starting us off this morning....indeed "welcome Saturday"....it was a VERY long week in my world. My plan since it's so rainy and chilly outside is to stay put, shop tomorrow and just relax, putter, relax, putter, repeat today....that is what I've been doing since I got up this morning....while it seems I have been sitting here on the laptop all day hanging out with all of you, I have been actually posting for a bit, empty a box, post a bit more, flip loads in the washer, post a bit more, wash up some dishes...my kind of day actually....nothing that has to be done today or now but just can "do as I please, when I please"!!
Hope you were able to beat the rains this morning on your run....Jason was outside trying to beat the rain here too and finally came in when the spritzing turned to rain. He went to the greenhouse at the end of the street for two reasons....one, he paid Jim for the driveway and picked up some plants....we wanted the pretty "bubble gum petunias" but they were already sold out!! Jim's wife is the tax collector for our township and runs a greenhouse and Jim's business is also at the house so it was nice "one stop shopping"!! Now he will hang out in the garage repotting things. If he has time he will plant up the two pots for the patio....we have 2 terra cotta pots that will fit perfectly on either side of the new step....he got some wave petunias to plant in there that will do great!! I'm so excited to add a pop of color. He will find the long planter boxes in the shed that he gathered from countless displays at the cemetery for the front porch....I want something approx. 18" long and 4-6" wide in front of 3 of the posts on the porch along the grass side, there is a nice wide edge in front of the each post approx. 8" wide so the planters will be perfect there....the end post on the driveway is on the actually end and the end by the door has the spouting....I think we will put impatience in there....they usually do well in the front of the house with the morning sun!! We have a 3rd terra cotta pot that will also get the same flowers that will sit by the spouting to kind of hide it a bit. We will hopefully get that done next weekend....Mother's Day the usual time to plant annuals around here....last frost date is May 15th here.
WOW....sounds like DM is really thinking positively and being proactive with finally making the decision to move to a retirement community. Maybe seeing the folks at the other place last weekend still being independent and active finally enlightened her thinking that this is not an "end" but a stepping stone into a new adventure and chapter life.....I know so many who have moved into retirement living situations and wish they had done it years before....as we all get older, we all realize our days on this earth are winding down....we now have more days behind us than we do ahead of us but moving to a place that is made to keep those years positive, independent and safe is a good thing, no longer the place to "go and die"!! I love the senior communities and love that they are thriving here as the population ages. Oh my, didn't realize she actually had a couple coming to see the house tomorrow to actually buy it....didn't realize it was on the market??? Sure hope your siblings help with the purging and packing of her house...you do NOT need that task solely on your plate!!
I'm sure Thursday and your last committee meeting after 10 years was emotional....how sweet that they presented you with the orchid and had such kind words for you as you too close one chapter and open a new one in retirement....
The game last night was great and while the weather was better, it was still pretty chilly by the end of the game. I was prepared so all is well!! Kellen had another great game and he hit a double that if it had another foot or two would have been a homerun over the fence...you should have heard the entire Bulldog crowd when it hit the fence about a foot from the top....so close!! He was happy but was a smidge disappointed it didn't clear the fence! Ran into a neighbor down the street.....Sarah graduated with their oldest daughter.....Jeanette, their other daughter has a son on Kellen's team....she is usually doing the soccer or dance class run with her other two so I hadn't seen her before....I saw her walk by the car when I arrived. I got to chat with her for a while and then her parents....fun to reminisce about the old Manheim Elementary days....still up in the air about Mother's day weekend...the weather forecast keeps changing and now it shows rain....guess the christening of the patio will be up in the air until closer to time!
Carole....actually brought tears to my eyes that you feel safe to share things with us here that you don't share with others....I feel the same way! I have shared here things no one else knows....I know that here I am safe, loved and not judged for anything and there is something so comforting for me. Sometimes for me it's hard to admit any of the things in my world that I see as "the ugly" yet here I know I can and know it's OK!! My grandpa on Dad's side kept a journal for years....not sure where it is now....we all wonder what he wrote in it each night...he never hid it, it was always on the table beside his chair in the living room. When special things happened like births, celebrations, deaths, weddings, etc took place we all wondered what he wrote. I think my cousin Tom had them at one point but not sure if they are still floating around in the family....would be interesting to read at this point....maybe one day I'll get to see what insight they hold from who grandpa was.....and what was important enough to journal. Honestly, if your journals might hurt feelings one day, that's OK....sometimes the way they make you feel needs to be shared or at least let out if only on the pages of your journal....you have tried for years to let others know how they make you feel and it has fallen on deaf ears and dismissed.....if your journal is the way to work through that then I say keep it up and if they would read it one day it would NOT be news to them. Yes, sometimes the truth hurts and sometimes people need to be held accountable for the way they make others feel, even if they are family.
Love your goal updates....I will say that each time I get on a new day's thread and most days even if I don't post I try to get on and read I always read each of my goals and mentally reflect on my success and short comings with each one....some days are all good, others more short comings but it's a nice reminder of what we want and need for ourselves. I'm sure the girls won't mind hitting the store to get snacks for the days....cucumbers, blueberries and strawberries and healthy options so take advantage of their good choices!!
Jo...seems many of us, including you have "had a week"!! What did the doctor say was the problem with you neck, shoulder, back??? Glad heat helps, if only a little! Love you are getting new opportunities at work but you are right, with the upcoming vacation of co-worker and the new responsibilities you will NOT be able to do it and they need to be aware and understand that you will need help or leeway to get things done!!
Jenny...sounds like you have your day all planned to fit everything in. Glad you are going to the 9:00am meeting and making it a new part of your Saturday. Yes, have tomorrow to get the mowing done and relax! As you know, many of us are soggy and wet this weekend....hope the "window" on Sunday gives you enough time to get the mowing done. Jason did have a little bit of time outside today before the rains came but here, tomorrow is a wash out!! I too love wisteria but we don't really have a place for one....Jason has been wanting a crepe myrtle for a long time but here we are just on the edge of the growing area....they are warmer weather plants so he has to find just the right spot for them.....we won't be heading back the 80's like this past week but upper 70's works for me. Aside from a couple days in the 10 day forecast....most days are 74-78 degrees....works for me!!
All caught up and ready to tackle more laundry....Sarah just finished her last load!!
Hope all have a great rest of you day.....will pop back later to see what's happening here. Need to make my grocery shopping list for tomorrow. Plan to grill pork chops, roast asparagus and make roasted potatoes too!! Love that I can adjust the racks in my new oven to accommodate two sheet pans and with convention get them all cooked in the proper manner.....continue to be amazed at the fantastic kitchen I now have!!
Oh....random thought/question....to all with a glass top cooktop, either regular or induction, what do you use to clean it??? I don't want to do anything to ruin it and I've heard there is cleaner for glass cooktops!

Have I ever mentioned my husband expects miracles from technology but doesn’t realize his “man cave” is surrounded by block walls! God give some strength to deal with my techno dunce hubby! Love him but he doesn’t get that some things like block walls can block signal if the signal is weak!?!?
