C134D11, 1380 calories. I've decided not to bring sugar into the house. I found a series of videos that are speaking to me. Have you heard of Dr. Becky? I'm already doing 90% of what she suggests, so she will be easy to follow regularly. And wonder of wonders, I found something to wear to the wedding. I like it a lot so that's a big relief. I already have something to wear to the rehearsal dinner and brunch. Grocery shopping and lunch with a friend today, then maybe I'll go to the mall to return the outfit I'm not keeping and maybe get some exercise. Have a lovely weekend friends.

Good morning. Last weekend DH convinced me to raise money for Empowering Epilepsy by running the Cleveland Half on May 19. I went to the trail and did 11 miles, only stopping once at 9.2 miles to stretch. It took me 2 hours and not quite a minute. It’s not the pace I was at when I ran my last half marathon, but that was 8 years and many injuries ago. EE is a local organization that offers support to families and individuals with epilepsy both locally and throughout the U.S. Leigh also works to educate the community. When DH told her his experience of the cop trying to give Nick a field sobriety test in the ER while he was seizing, Leigh said that she’ll be going to police departments soon to educate the officers. The cop actually threatened to arrest DH for obstruction of justice when he told Nick he needed to insist on having an attorney present. Seizures aren’t always recognizable to people unfamiliar with them.
Nancy, great decision not to bring sugar into your house. That was exactly the advice I was going to give you.

Jan- really thoughtful of DH to suggest you run that half marathon. So sorry to hear about Nick's experience with the police and the misunderstanding of epilepsy.

I left the house at 9:30 this morning and just got home….First stop was my monthly WW meeting. I really miss the group meetings, I can’t say I learned anything new but it felt good to feel the energy and motivation in the room. Then I had a lot of different stops on the way home. Mostly returning summer clothes I brought that are now tobig….yay me!!
Nancy, I’m also glad you didn’t bring the treats home but you may want to give yourself permission to go out and get a single serving of something if you really want it. You may decide it’s worth going out for or it’s not, but the main thing is you’re allowing it and it’s your decision.
Jan, your running time is impressive. The fact that you can compare it to 8 years at all is Amazing!!! I’m very surprised to hear the police force is not trained to recognize different medical situations in their line of work…..
Kathy, Wondering, do you give yourself a maintenance range? If so, how much….Keep up the good work!!!

Jan - Care to provide a donation link for the run?
Kathy - I signed up for a year with Dr. Becky. It's giving me a good education re whole foods. There's a good forum there for questions which helps a lot. Dr. Becky has been answering most of my questions often supplying videos on relevant subjects. For example, I asked about sweet potatoes, and she linked me to a video on starchy vs non starchy vegetables. I plan to start tomorrow for real. BTW I see from the table of contents on her diet plan, that she pays some attention to Interimittant Fasting. I'm sure there will be videos on that subject as well.
Lori - I know what you mean about those meetings. I used to leave them all revved up. I invariably got food suggestions as well. And I enjoyed getting to know the other members. I still bump into some of them at the supermarket. Yes, I plan to be letter of the law at home but willing to ease up outside of the home. Most of my overeating/binging happened at home. For some reason I don't tend to overeat in restaurants.
