Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE July 5 through September 2
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes “how can you love someone else if you can’t love yourself”.
There are many ways we don’t show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over “why did I drink too much” and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happier”. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start, give yourself grace and tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isn’t here, so let’s deal with the present.
We worry about so many things, things we have no control over. Resilience, happiness and freedom comes from knowing what to care about and what to not let us get bogged down. Let go of things that do not work for you, help you, or encourage you. It is hard! You want to be a good person but be good to yourself first. Send out positivity but give yourself positivity.
We all have bad days, nothing goes right, nasty people out and about, stress levels are over the top and you have no control. This can be true in many ways but your control is to step away, love yourself.
Journal it, put it down on paper, and then let it go.
So each morning give yourself an affirmation. Here are some suggestions:
#1. I am worthy. #2. I am enough. #3. I am beautiful inside and out. #4. Even my “flaws” have good and helpful aspects. #5. I love and approve of myself. #6. I am delighted with who I am. #7. I fully approve of who I am, even as I better myself. #8. I approve of myself and love myself completely. #9. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances. #10. I am surrounded by love. #11. I am treasured for who I really am. #12. I am worthy of happiness and love. #13. I enjoy my own company as I get in touch with my true self. #14. I am at peace and happy when I’m alone.
It may sound like Stuart Smiley but go with it!

Good morning all! I slept well last night and got up at my usual time of 5:00. Today is Bible study and I'm making something new. Hopefully that will avoid us have so many similar dishes! LOL. I'm making a sausage cheese bread that you make with Bisquick. It is cooling now and I'll slice it and try a piece. If I don't like it, I have boiled eggs that I could try to make into deviled eggs. If that doesn't work, I'll stop by Aldi on my way and get cookies!! LOL. Everyone have a fabulous day! Murphy

Water aerobics was good. We played Duck, Duck, Goose at the end. I got tagged and picked a lady that seemed to move about the same speed as me, but made the mistake of tagging her before I got past her. I apologized at the end and told her I picked her b/c we seemed to move about the same speed. After the class I did a bit of watering and then got ready to take DD for her neurologist appt. I took I-75 into Marietta, getting to my exit was nerve wracking. I think I'll have to take the back roads next time. I don't drive often enough to not be a nervous driver. We stopped at Publix on the way home for a couple of things. I had a bit of couch time and dozed a little. I made tacos with ground chicken, they turned out pretty well. After dinner I stitched and binge watched Emily in Paris, which I am finding addicting. I took a bath, was in bed at a decent time and read for a while. It was pretty warm upstairs with no A/C, but I opened the window and it cooled off fairly quickly with the ceiling fan. For whatever reason, I had trouble falling asleep, so I took a Benadryl and read some more until drowsy.
It's another sunny day, just moving into the 70's. The HVAC people are supposed to come sometime today.
Jan- WTG steps, PU, stretches, tracking, ready to face scale today. Yay for the B&B deals. Hope it was a happy anniversary. LOL over Scout keeping busy.
Murphy- Thanks for getting us started. Glad DB was doing better than expected, good that you could give DSIL a break. Yay for sleeping well. Enjoy Bible study today, hope the bread turned out well.
Vicki- Glad you had a good time at Jackson's birthday celebration. Sorry about your back spasms. GL to DH with his colonoscopy/prep.
Carole- Sorry about not having the best day at work and your internet/cable being out. Yay for the new gym coming along.
Cindy- DH was sleeping with the convention on in the bedroom so I caught bits and pieces. Hope it's cooler for your trip to Dallas next week.
Cathy- Yay for scale being down, doing errands, being able to talk to your children and granddaughters.

September 2 Good morning all. So my shenanigans are showing up on the scale. Now just get it back together. Went to my meeting this morning, good to get some perspective, and all about tracking. I track, I just don't think about not eating "it" before I track it I guess my NSV for yesterday is when I went to the store, after remembering it was our anniversary, I drove around 2 pieces of german chocolate cake in the cart for awhile. It was packaged as 2 and there were no single pieces. DH love GCC but I also know him. He'd eat a bite or two, and then say it was too much sweets. So who would have eaten those pieces of cake! Put it back and we were fine. I only watched a bit of the convention, I'm sure I can catch Joe's speech on line somewhere today if I get interested. Now we're thinking of taking the Van up north towards Lake Superior for a long weekend to snoop around. We would go up as far as the cabin Thursday after knitting, and spend the night. Then we can drive around and see what we see. There are some big waterfalls up there I've never seen, maybe go by pictured rocks. See if I can get a hold of the neighbors today to see if they can feed cats. No big plans for today. I have 3 rows to knit on the handle for my bag I'm going to felt. Then sew it all together before running it through the washer a few times. I also have cuttings on the windowsill that have rooted, coleus and some other plant that need to get into pots. Not sure how it is already 11 in the morning, but I better get moving. Will check back later. Jan Murphy Glad to hear your brother could get out and you DSIL got to visit with friends. Hope your offering for the bible study turned out well so you didn't have to come up with something else Amy Sorry the drive to town was stressful. I'm fine all around here and going north, but driving through Chicago on trips still is a bit nerve wracking. Hope the AC gets fixed today. We are supposed to get back up near the 90's again at the end of the week. Thinking it will be much cooler up north by the Lake. Was Duck Duck Goose is shallow enough water to move or is it in the deep and you had to swim. Sounds fun tho. At some point here I am going to have to go back to Costco for some Fairlife drink. Wondering if they will already have their flower bulbs in. GG Sorry the back was still acting up. Hope it's better before Rylee comes again. How did the house inspection go yesterday? Did Jackson get any special gifts that he wanted for his birthday? Cathy Hope you can the errands run in town but sorry you may have to miss cards with the friends. Our scales creep up and down and it's pretty hard to hear when one of the men at my WW meeting this morning was saying he felt "bloated" last week from eating brats or something, and then today he said he lost 7#!! WTheck. We'll just keep doing our best I guess. Carole Sounds like the new gym will be nice. Glad you could help your friend, and get in a "free" workout tossing trash. Hope it's a better day at work today. Are your burns from Florida healed up? Would be hard to work with burned fingers!! Cindy Yay for no appt this week. Scout should probably be on a diet, he looks just like a big beached sea lion when he stretches out on the coffee table. Anytime I stand up or go towards the kitchen, he jumps up and follows me to the food plate. Just sits there until something appears, and of course I'm guilty of putting something there to make him stop getting underfoot and meowing. We both have a food addiction I suppose. Fingers crossed you get a bit cooler weather soon. Waving hi

Back home. Everyone seemed to like the sausage cheese bread. Honestly I thought it was a bit too sweet. I didn't have real Bisquick. All they had at Aldi was Jiffy pancake and waffle mix which is supposed to be the same thing. But at least it was received well and there were only a few pieces left and I sent those home with one of the other women. Came home and I put a small pot of white chicken chili on to simmer for the afternoon. The weather is so pleasant right now. Hi's in the low 80's for the next few days. I'll take it!
Amy- sorry the drive was so nerve wracking. I am getting to where I loath driving in heavy traffic and will almost always chose a back route if possible. Water aerobics sure does sound fun. I'm pretty sure the gym I'll be going to does not have a pool.
Jan- belated happy anniversary! Sounds like those were perfect gifts that you and DH exchanged!
Cindy - hope the heat eases up soon for you!
GG - take care of your back!
Carole - hope the new gym is going to be great for you! Is it going to be closer to your home?
Cathy - hope you and DH got all your errands done!
Going to enjoy a quiet afternoon. Tomorrow I want to work some in the garage. I've passed the job of the grocery bags in Motel Ministry on to someone else for now so I have more room in the garage. I just needed a break. Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of your day! Murphy

Hi girls. I’m happy to report my back spasms are gone. It still feels tender, which is a good thing. It stops me from going full force. I did go out and took a walk this morning with no problems. I plan to do the same tonight. DH is looking in the fridge for his last meal. I did make him some jello for later if he wants it. His appointment is tomorrow at 10. DD hasn’t heard anything yet about the results of the inspection.
Murphy: I love that you have so much going on and are keeping yourself busy!
Amy: Duck Duck Goose sounds fun! I’m a small town girl. I can drive in the bigger cities, but I won’t do Pittsburgh unless I absolutely have to!
Jan: I’m glad you went to your meeting. I’ve noticed, especially at night, that I’m asking myself if I’m actually hungry or if I just want to eat. Usually I just want to eat. Jack got a new pair of Crocs which he liked, and mostly money. He has his eye on an expensive baseball glove.
Carole: I guess your medication was serious about staying out of the sun! What ages are the kids in your school?
Cindy: I’ve started recording Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons! People on Facebook are all complaining about the political commercials. I don’t notice them there! I’m glad you didn’t have to go to Dallas!

Nothing much to tell you. Will be picking up two friends and driving all of us to Tripoli to play cards with a fourth friend.
I debate buying wine vs skipping wine today...we will see.
I have to drive to Jounieh tomorrow morning so Mounah can go to a government office IF it is open - he has questions to ask and phones won't be answered so wants to go in person. He was going to drive himself BUT as he is nearing 86 and sometimes seems flustered...feel it is wiser for me to do the driving.
Electricity disappeared in the middle of the night so we lost fans, too, so was thankful it was NOT a super-hot night last night!
I debate wearing the four dollar floral pants OR the white pants with blue and white hawaiian print shirt to cards today...we will see.
It will be nice to catch up with the four women today.
Hope all of you have a Wonderful Wednesday!🌞
