Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE July 5 through September 2
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes “how can you love someone else if you can’t love yourself”.
There are many ways we don’t show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over “why did I drink too much” and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happier”. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start, give yourself grace and tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isn’t here, so let’s deal with the present.
We worry about so many things, things we have no control over. Resilience, happiness and freedom comes from knowing what to care about and what to not let us get bogged down. Let go of things that do not work for you, help you, or encourage you. It is hard! You want to be a good person but be good to yourself first. Send out positivity but give yourself positivity.
We all have bad days, nothing goes right, nasty people out and about, stress levels are over the top and you have no control. This can be true in many ways but your control is to step away, love yourself.
Journal it, put it down on paper, and then let it go.
So each morning give yourself an affirmation. Here are some suggestions:
#1. I am worthy. #2. I am enough. #3. I am beautiful inside and out. #4. Even my “flaws” have good and helpful aspects. #5. I love and approve of myself. #6. I am delighted with who I am. #7. I fully approve of who I am, even as I better myself. #8. I approve of myself and love myself completely. #9. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances. #10. I am surrounded by love. #11. I am treasured for who I really am. #12. I am worthy of happiness and love. #13. I enjoy my own company as I get in touch with my true self. #14. I am at peace and happy when I’m alone.
It may sound like Stuart Smiley but go with it!

Yesterday morning DH & I stopped by a yard sale (bought a light for the entryway and a red truck yard stake) then on to Logan Farm Park and farmers market (bought some peaches). After our walk we went to Ingles for groceries then Walmart for corn. They had corn for 33 cents per ear, so I bought a dozen. When we got home I had lunch and some couch time, then blanched the corn to freeze. Fat Trout (the golf cart repair people) came to pick up the golf cart. Cory came over around 5. We had grilled hamburgers and hot dogs with corn on the cob, potato/cauliflower salad, cucumber salad and cookies for dessert. After dinner I vacuum sealed the corn and put it in the freezer. I left some on the cob and cut some kernels off of some of the ears. I've been reading that it freezes well on the cob if vacuum sealed, we'll see how it does. We played Winky Dink then watched the latest Beverly Hills Cop movie, which was funny. I stayed up a bit late with the kids, but didn't read for long and slept well. We had some thunder and wind, but only about 0.3 inch of rain around dinner time.
We walked the nature trail this morning then had bacon, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and coffee cake for breakfast. Cory and I picked some green beans and jalapenos and I sent him home with some. I feel like I could take a nap, but am going to try to get some stuff done first.
Jan- WTG steps, PU, stretches, tracking, AF. Yay for DH sending you off with a big breakfast, glad you are happy with your new 'do, yay for rain. Have a lovely time at the cabin.
Murphy- Thanks for getting us started. Glad you had a good day yesterday, hope today is also good. Enjoy your fall decor.
Vicki- Hope you recover quickly from Grandma Camp.
Cindy- I enjoyed your telling of your adventures this week. Sorry about the tape blisters. Glad it worked out in the end at the vet. The post office thing is weird. I get a lot of texts telling me they can't deliver my package, I am assuming they are phishing attempts. Hope you sleep better tonight. The gown for f/g sounds lovely.
Cathy- Hope you have fun with Rosalie. WTG doing laundry and chores.

M-W Word of the Day
Byzantine adjective | BIZ-un-teen What It Means Something described as byzantine (or Byzantine) is very complicated, secret, and hard to understand. In its most literal (and always capitalized) sense, Byzantine describes that which is "of, relating to, or characteristic of the ancient city of Byzantium." // The company's byzantine accounting practices have gotten it into trouble with the government. // Works of Byzantine art filled the gallery's walls.

Hi everyone!
It has been kind of a busy then crazy week. I went to the Electrologist Thursday. During the treatment I was lying flat on the table, as she was working I move my head side to side , and at almost the end of the treatment, I had a severe attack of I think vertigo. My friend and the Electrologist helped me off the table where I then became violently ill and almost passed out. I have never experienced it so severely as this time. DD and DS came to pick us up and get my car. I could hardly walk. Once home I got in bed in a sitting up position. The dizziness started to subside but the upset stomach lasted most of the night. I am feeling much better but not 100% yet. I plan on seeing my PC Tuesday just to make sure that was all it was. I know my sinuses are congested so that might have affected it as well.
Wishing you all a happy Labor Day; we are going to DD’s for a BBQ. Looking forward to jumping in on the new challenge.

Hi All!
Murphy, thanks for getting us going today! Hope you had a wonderful day! We had some very light rain but I will take what we can. I admit to keeping a fall arrangement up year round...it is in a three foot tall Halloween vase.
Amy, sounds like you had your Labor Day picnic....all sounds delicious! I didn't get the post office thing either. I could have picked up the package on Friday. I guess legit but weird. Did you grow a salsa garden?
GG, love the FB photos!
Liz, the event at the electrologist is scary! I hope you are feeling much better today. I hope your PC has an explanation. Enjoy the BBQ at DD's.
Jan, hope you are having a wonderful time!
Hi Cathy!
Hi Carole!
Quiet day. Did a lot of icing and should get better about doing it. DS doesn't bet but is in a group that makes predictions on games. The others do bet so if he wins, second in line gets the winnings. Last year he won but didn't collect the $1400. So first game of the season for UT vs Colorado State. DS said the score would be 52 to 0! AND he was right. Crazy!
Hugs to all, off to read or play Suduko. Cindy

Had fun with Rosalie. Found a half price t-shirt in lime green with a bit of silver sparkle in the v-neck ribbing that will go nicely with several pair of pants and some shorts. We had fun playing cards while sipping iced coffee and spent time catching up. So nice to have a good friend to spend time with. Talked to my daughter last night for a bit and we caught up. Today I will finish the book to be reviewed today, write the review, and post it. Lunch will probably be black beans and brown rice topped with veggies and a sauce - probably Mexican themed like a tostada/taco salad with rice base. Hope to talk to our son and his family today. He is on his way home after a week's business trip so will be tired if we do talk to him.
Hope all will enjoy the weekend - It is a holiday weekend there, I think, but not here.
