💯100 Day Challenge 💯 If you have wondered what this challenge is all about it has to do with making a change and focusing on that change for 100 days. It can be related to anything YOU want to work on: weight loss, exercise, housekeeping, reading, practicing, organizing...the sky is the limit. After you decide what you want to work on you show up daily and post how you did with a "face" emoji that indicates how the previous day went. YOU CAN START ANY DAY OF THIS CHALLENGE! We would love to have you with us! Dates for this challenge: September 3 - December 12 2024❤️ Further information about the challenge: Focused Intention Begins with a question/hypothesis Commitment to a goal Etc If you are interested here are a couple of websites to check out: www.gongfuacademy.com/100-day-gong.htmlcathygeha/Cathy luvvinlife/Gisélle klf722/Karen doordie50/Pam
So...we begin another 100 day challenge. I thought that I would refresh my memory on:
Writing Goals: The SMART in SMART goals stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. Defining these parameters as they pertain to your goal helps ensure that your objectives are attainable within a certain time frame.
AND
The idea of The Whole Person - back in Nursing School they told us that patients were not to be looked at as a "disease" to be treated but as a "whole person" that needed to be assisted in all aspects of their life. They mentioned: Physical, Mental-Emotional, Spiritual, Social...if I remember correctly. I found another site that lists six things but not all are relevant to all patients/people: emotional, physical, spiritual, social, psychological, professional.
WHY did I look at these? Because I am still thinking about the goals for this 100 days. I also found sites that suggested personal goals including one with 150 suggestions and ideas: helpfulprofessor.com/personal-goals-examples/
So with this in mind...
I will come up with goals and list them in the next post...won't hit all of the items listed and not sure how they will play into the research I did but...here goes.

activity/workout tracked - used 4 weeklies exceeded my protein goal - rare for me MT- watched a recorded documentary
Hi all! I had a pretty good day yesterday. Got things done inside and out. The acorns from the pin oaks have turned the driveway into an absolute mine field. lol We have another gorgeous day on tap - perfect for yard work and errand running. I'm going to make a creamy Italian wedding soup soon. Hope everyone has a great day! *waves* Cathy it's great you were able to enjoy the pool and had a relaxing day with Rosalie. What are the temps like there this time of year? Karen we're big Eagles fans and just love the game. College football too. I'm with you on the to-do lists. Hope all goes well with Mark's procedure today. Wishing you safe travels to and from MA!

September 11 GOALS 📝 Track every BLT✔️ 🧹 Clean or tidy or declutter something every day - laundry, organizing closet✔️ 🖋️ Use a fountain pen daily or do something creative(music, writing-diary, art, calligraphy) ✔️ 🇫🇷 Work on French every day (Duolingo, magazine, newspaper, book) ✔️ ⚖️ Weigh every morning [Starting weight: 166.6] <168>✔️ [was HUNGRY yesterday and ATE]
Yesterday we went to the produce shop and spent some time outside planting a few avocado trees started from seeds then cleaning the patio for awhile. Today I go pick two women up to go play cards at another woman's apartment in Tripoli. Tomorrow is a trip to Beirut so...busy week this week.
PAM: In our village it is low to mid-80's during the day and low 70's at night. It is usually warmer on the coast and more humid but our slightly higher elevation usually helps a bit.
Karen and Gisélle - Hope you had a Terrific Tuesday!
It hit me this morning when I typed 9/11 on something that it was over two decades ago (23 year anniversary) that the attack took place and lives were lost. I don't think I will ever forget and reading that someone online is now working with people who were not even born then...was another thing that had me thinking. A lot has happened in my lifetime!

activity/exercise tracked - used weeklies protein goals - 2 of 3 MT - read and napped 20 min
I burned a good bit of calories outside yesterday. A good day but, I stayed up way too late, and now I'm dragging. There's a painting project to finish before a guy comes to give an estimate to dig out that buried stone, then add top soil and seed. It's too big a job for us to do ourselves.
Cathy that's about where we are with daytime temps but, down in mid or low 50's overnight. Have fun and safe travels to Tripoli! Waves to Karen and Gisélle - Have great day!

exercise/activity tracked protein goals 3x reading
I managed to finish the painting and other stuff on my list yesterday. Yay! The back is really groaning so, I'll keep things light today for sure. We had the best cheesesteak egg rolls last night! I threw a quick salad together but, it was so nice not to have to cook. Definitely need some extra steps to mitigate the calories. lol
The Pella guys are coming here again tomorrow morning. The left casement of the big bay window doesn't lock. The upper and lower mechanisms aren't catching quite right so, they're going to try to tighten the cables up behind the soffit. Fingers crossed! Karen hope you've been having fun with the grands. Smooth travels! Cathy safe travels to Beirut - enjoy yourselves! luvvinlife waves and good wishes to you and Abel.

September 13 GOALS 📝 Track every BLT✔️ 🧹 Clean or tidy or declutter something every day - laundry, organizing closet 🖋️ Use a fountain pen daily or do something creative(music, writing-diary, art, calligraphy) ✔️ 🇫🇷 Work on French every day (Duolingo, magazine, newspaper, book) ✔️ ⚖️ Weigh every morning [Starting weight: 166.6] <167.8>✔️
I was up early and on the road for more time than is nice but did have a good day. There were three of us that rode into Beirut together and then attended the AWC meeting. We paid dues, had the meeting and socialized then went to a pizza shop for lunch and four of the twelve shared a pizza and salad while the other eight had burgers. After lunch the three of us went to a Mall, looked around, tried some things on and Rosemary bought balls to play petanque with her family and she bought a pair of ten dollar slacks. Rosalie and I tried a few things on but came home empty handed. Today will be a more relaxing day. Lunch will be either/or both - green beans in tomato sauce with potatoes or over rice and spinach sauteed with onions and perhaps labne or with bulgur and black eyed peas. We also have eggplant so could do something with that instead. Last night was too hot to sleep with a sheet...looking forward to autumn and cooler weather!
Hope everyone has a good day and wonderful weekend planned.

Had an OP day, cleaned, and did some reading and reviewing. Relaxed and slept well though could have done with a few more hours of sleep. Hope to talk to our daughter tonight. Have leftover green beans in tomato sauce on brown rice leftovers so will probably have that with some TVP for lunch today.
Hope all have fun plans for the weekend!

Hi Everyone! I got back yesterday. The plan was to drop the boys off at school and go straight from there to the library where my Friday Mah Jongg is! I wasn't sure if I could make it or not but I did! So I went from sitting behind the wheel to sitting around the same amount of hours of play but it was a nice day! My husband cooked a wonderful pot roast dinner and it was well received! Last week after the last game of my daughter's season she found out that her position has been eliminated. Lots of others lost their jobs too and she saw the handwriting on the wall so it wasn't unexpected. It's sad and it hurts but it's not personal. So she took the Autotrain which they pay for and left on Thursday. Her condo rental was paid through the month but why stay in FL? She's in Maryland now visiting a friend and will then come here! I can't wait to see her! I had a good time with the boys but a lot of down time too since they were in school all day. I took them to school and did pick ups as well. In between I did some of my stuff and helped Kat make some cookie batter to freeze for their Halloween party next month. It's a big deal and each year seem to get even bigger. My son asked me to come next month for their anniversary too so they could have a little getaway celebration and the dates look ok. Just one medical appointment I may have to change. I'll see Monday how long the wait might be to reschedule vs drive home at night when they return. Got my steps while in MA but not yesterday Slept at least 7 hours Checked in on someone Got outside Cathy, I love all of your activities and having a social life like yours is so important. What is petanque? I finished Jodi Picoult's newest book By Any Other Name and I really liked it. She is one of my favorite authors. I also have 2 books to read for meetings that are coming up. One I started, one not yet. Pam, so great to see you doing so well. So it sounds like you overdid it a little but the good thing is that you will give yourself rest afterwards and happily, you got it done! Good luck with the window tweaks. I hope they're able to get everything right for you. I must prioritize sleep! So important. Waving to Gisélle too!!

September 15 GOALS 📝 Track every BLT✔️ 🧹 Clean or tidy or declutter something every day - laundry, organizing closet✔️ 🖋️ Use a fountain pen daily or do something creative(music, writing-diary, art, calligraphy) ✔️ 🇫🇷 Work on French every day (Duolingo, magazine, newspaper, book) ✔️ ⚖️ Weigh every morning [Starting weight: 166.6] <167.2> [day two]✔️
Yesterday was a quiet, OP/within calorie, relaxing, positive day that also saw us have a Skype chat with our daughter. Today we will be going to lunch in Tripoli and probably stopping at a large grocery store in Tripoli on our way home. I need to get ingredients for the three-bean-terrine I am taking to a potluck in Beirut and hope to find tinned beans in white, black, and red so I don't have to cook them all from scratch. I finished a book I will review in a bit and then will start reading a new book that I hope will be interesting.
KAREN: It sounds like a good time with the grandsons though at times slow for you. What kind of cookies did you make? Are they frozen for later? I have played online Mah Jongg in the past and find it fun but haven't ever played with real tiles. How long did your daughter have the job that is now eliminated and what can/will she do in the future? Will she stay in the same field or try something new. I am glad she is coming for a visit and time with you. Will she stay in the area?
PAM: My daughter had some Pella windows that were perfect and some that needed additional adjusting and some that never worked right...hope they get YOUR windows perfectly fitted! Do baby your back for a few days after the extra stress of painting!
GISÉLLE: I hope you are busy and having fun somewhere in the world. Looking forward to hearing an update soon

Good day yesterday. Quiet, but got out to celebrate my yoga studio's 12th anniversary gathering. Open house mid afternoon. My husband was working so my night was quiet too. I had more of the pot roast from Friday night. SO good! Did not make my steps goal Checked in on someone Slept 7 hours Got outside Cathy, since her job was in baseball it's seasonal. She worked 2 years for the NY Mets, minor league, as a player development coach. She's exhausted as she has worked super hard. Her goal now is to try and squeeze in a few medical appointments before the insurance lapses. She's good til Nov. 1. I will help with trying to get her in and scheduled. Not sure what her next move will be. She left FL but is visiting a friend and I won't see her or get to really talk to her until she gets here, maybe Monday or so. She lives with me when she's not in FL, at least that's how it's been these last 2 years. She spends time with her dad too - he's further east on Long Island, and when she goes to see him she stays a night or 2 at a time. And without work commitments she tries to travel if possible. She wants to work on her resume and cv for future interviews also. I had a few thoughts and if the flow is right I will suggest them. She made it sound like she'd be taking her time figuring things out but that means something could happen quickly. Hey, you never know! We'll see. I want to provide a nice soft place for her to land. She says she needs to get serious with her eating since her meals were provided at the stadium. They had dieticians and a staff who provided food and she could eat there and take home for other meals too. She spent so much time there that her options were limited. And they traveled a lot too. Breakfast was usually at home. She doesn't eat meat. I greatly want to eat less and my husband wants meat. I plan to make a few of her favorites when she gets here. We shall see. Hope you enjoyed your lunch & shopping in Tripoli! Waving!!

September 16 GOALS 📝 Track every BLT✔️ 🧹 Clean or tidy or declutter something every day - laundry, organizing closet✔️ 🖋️ Use a fountain pen daily or do something creative(music, writing-diary, art, calligraphy) ✔️ 🇫🇷 Work on French every day (Duolingo, magazine, newspaper, book) ✔️ ⚖️ Weigh every morning [Starting weight: 166.6] <167.8> {had lunch out}
Nothing exciting to share. Talked to our granddaughters for five minutes while they were on the way to Costco with their mom. Still need a few ingredients for the three bean terrine for Wednesday potluck. Have been reading short stories from a shifter romance collection, finished a thriller set in contemporary Texas with rustlers and other issues, and started a book I will skim that is historical fiction about a man shanghaied who works on the sea for over two years and when he returns he is changed and his wife is pregnant with a new husband's child...don't think I want to deal with the tiny print and wear magnifying glasses to read the entire thing though it is done fairly well for a debut novel.
KAREN: It sounds like your daughter has hit a "change" in her life that hopefully lead her to the next phase and that phase will be even better than what she has done so far. I know you will enjoy being with her and she will definitely have a soft place to figure things out for the future. You asked about Bocce/Petanque - the balls are about the size of tennis balls but heavier and some are professional. It has something to do with throwing a little ball out into the yard then each person playing tries to get as close to that tiny ball as they can while either knocking other players balls away from the target or whatever. There is a scoring system...it all sounded complicated to me but my friend bought the set and then sent me a video of her daughter and husband playing at their village home near sundown. The dictionary says it is a type of lawn bowling. I am still confused about scoring after watching this video but: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjmLFKlVHlk

Good day. We went to a middle eastern market to buy some specialty items and things they make particularly well. Then we had some of it for/with our dinner. Was up later than I wanted to be since the Duo tournament was ending and I wanted a higher spot. I ended up 3rd. Good food. Got a couple of things done but otherwise quiet. Did not make my steps goal Slept 7 hours Got outside Checked in on someone Cathy, great video. Thanks! I think it might be easier to just play and then figure it out as you go along. Like bocce. My daughter arrived and we went to grab a bite and now she is resting and my husband is napping so I will read for Wednesday. Nice to have her back! Waving!!

Strength & Cardio ✅ Duo language and music ✅ Nothing done from my to do list🚫 Painting on Zen Color, Piano practice✅
Hello all and thank you for your warm thoughts and waves. I had a few moments that were sort of lonely and your thoughts and waves made all the difference. We are all done with houseguests until maybe November. The last group left on Saturday. We had a really enjoyable time talking about the good old times and laughing about all of the fun things that happened to all of us over the past 41 years. We have been working steadily on the grounds, decluttering the basement, sorting through photos and files, etc. Next we will get the pellets in for the winter and maybe order a generator. It looks like this may be our last winter in this house. The feeling is bitter sweet. With each memory we make, it feels like it will be the last one. 😢 On the other hand I we are indeed looking forward to the next adventure.
Cathy I love how you juggle all of your escapades with such ease. You don’t skip a beat with your social life while still maintaining stability in your home and with your family connections. It’s life in balance, for sure. Karen your time with your grand children must have been such fun. I’m so happy for your daughter that she still has a soft place to land in time of need. There’s nothing like it. Food is my love language so you can imagine what went through my mind when you said you’d make some of her favorite foods……OMG! I’m still drooling when I think about the yummy 😋 Pot Roast your husband made. Pam how wonderful that you and your husband were able to get so many nice changes done to your home and garden! You’re almost done in time for winter so next spring and summer it will look like Eden, for sure! I do hope that the Pella folks can solve the issue with your window. 🤞🏽 I thought about you and your brothers when football season began. Great fun ahead!
Waves to all 👋🏽

activity/yard work tracked a little short on protein goal caught up with my documentaries
Hi Girls! Yesterday's post poofed halfway through what would have been a long one. I wonder if the take away is to keep it short? lol At least it was great catching up with your posts after the weekend. The Pella guys were here all day on Friday and did manage to get the huge replacement pane in for the center bay. They worked for hours with the cable trying to get the left casement window aligned properly. We haven't been able to fully close and lock it for months now but, appeared to be working by the end of the day. Both Pat and I tried it for ourselves and signed off on it. The next morning the cable slipped and we're back to square one with a new window that we can't shut and lock. They really should replace the sash at this point and fix the bad one on their own time. We could use some rain but, all else is well. cathygeha, it's so true about the Pella windows. They come so highly recommended and are so expensive that, when they don't function properly, it's a major let down and beyond inconvenient. If we can get it straightened out, we'll be thrilled. They're really beautiful and the encased ultra-mini blinds have saved us. Thanks for that video! I played something fun like that years ago. Have a great time at the potluck! klf722, glad you got back ok and still had time for Mah Jongg. Score! And what a treat to have your daughter back! It's wonderful she can be there while she plans her next move. With her talents, I'm sure she'll find something she really loves. I hope you can get a bit of rest too now. BTW, that pot roast sounds divine! We were out Sunday and stopped at a "new to us" world store where I picked up a small singing bowl. I thought of you right way! The sound and vibration are really amazing. Now, to perfect my technique! luvvinlife,it sounds like you and your houseguests had a terrific time reminiscing. I'm sure it felt too quiet once they had gone. Hugs! You and Abel seem to be making great progress with the house and grounds. I know the emotions are mixed now but, once you've resettled, you'll find such a calm. Gisélle I'm so excited for your future and all the new adventures you'll both share.
