Sunday is the Autumnal Equinox, the first day of fall. We touched on fall resolutions and fall flavors earlier this week, here's an article about fall exercise/activity. www.everydayhealth.com/fitness/ways-to-exercise-that-are-perfect-for-fall/Ways to exercise that are perfect for fall - 6 Ways to Exercise That Are Perfect for Fall (and Don’t Even Feel Like Workouts) If cooler temperatures and less daylight leave you uninspired to keep up with fitness, here are some ideas to keep you moving. 1. Apple Picking - Fall offers lots of outdoor activities to help you get a few extra steps in, from apple picking to navigating a corn maze to hiking or cycling. 2. Fun Runs - Many of these races have a less intimidating 5K or other shorter distance option, or allow you to walk the route. 3. Dancing - Working out does not need to be a chore, and cooler weather doesn’t mean your only option is hitting the treadmill at the gym. Instead, turn on your favorite beats and get moving. 4. Yin Yoga - This type of yoga involves holding poses longer, usually from three to five minutes, and letting your body “sink” into the position. 5. Raking Leaves and Other Yardwork - ...home gardening tasks like raking leaves or planting tulip bulbs for spring can help your body move in different ways. 6. Strength Training - Less daylight and harsher weather may cause you to be looking for more indoor-friendly workouts... More info about each of these ideas in the article. Thoughts or comments? Have you participated in any of these activities in the past? Any you might consider this fall - or anytime? Chat about anything you'd like.

Actually going to be at a fun run on Saturday. However, I'm not participating by running or walking the route. I'm going to be there with my dog and others from our dog group as one of the associated fun activities for those who are running/walking. Still, I will at least be on my feet and moving around some for a couple of hours.
Yin Yoga - It isn't called by this name, but I've been to some sessions of what the fitness center I go to calls "restorative yoga". It is definitely relaxing!
Fall Yardwork - that hasn't quite started yet, but will be coming up. I don't mind the work, I enjoy fall weather more than spring (spring tends to be more muddy), but, don't like to think about fall leading into winter. I'll try to enjoy fall while it is here.
Would like to go to an apple orchard. There used to be an orchard about halfway between where I live and a friend lives. We'd meet there in the fall. Unfortunately, it closed after last year's apple season.
