Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

HOCUS POCUS, WE NEED TO FOCUS!
September 3 - October 31
The focus of this challenge is to become a healthier, happier, Boo-ti-ful person for Halloween and it won’t be a costume.
As always we are working towards/maintaining being AF! We need to take a look at what is our witching hour and how do we prevent it. What can you replace your brew with? One suggestion is make a list of treats that you will be able to have if you don’t give into the brew. Give yourself a face mask (facial) or maybe make mummy jalapeño poppers.
For this challenge to work you have to commit and take it seriously in spite of the puns. Respect the importance of the challenge. RESPECT YOURSELF by focusing on your health and taking care of yourself.
This isn't easy, no one said it would be. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a moratorium and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine your detours, not necessarily to take them but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Don't give yourself an excuse that oh my day has been a fright so I will have a drink or I'm bored so I will drink to get through the evening. During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. We understand there may be special occasions for which you may plan for an AIM detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So what are you going to be for Halloween and beyond? A much healthier, happier person sounds great! RIP alcohol and junk food. AND you will be going into the final two months of the year in great shape!
Have a healthy, happy Halloween!

DH & I drove to Logan Farm Park yesterday morning to walk and check out the farmer's market. I bought a mum for $5 and 3 flats of pansies/violas for $1 per cup. The weather was gorgeous. After walking, we bought groceries at Ingles. When we got home I had lunch, moved the laundry along and had some couch time. DH grilled steaks for dinner, I roasted some potatoes and green beans, and made pistachio ice cream for dessert. After dinner we played Winky Dink and watched Only Murders in the Building. I stayed up too late with the kids, then read until about 2, but slept well. I may need to catch a nap before we go to Six Flags for Fright Night.
It's another pretty day, starting in the mid-40's. I'm still having trouble logging into Stridekick. I finally got the app installed and could log in, but can't connect my Fitbit.
Jan- WTG steps, tracking. Hope it was a happy birthday and you enjoy your Cricut class today. There were a few people in the neighborhood that posted that they saw the northern lights, but their pictures were unimpressive. We probably have too much light pollution where our house is.
Carole- Yay for a 3-day weekend. Sorry you've been short staffed at work and the dishwasher wasn't working. TN is beautiful.
Cindy- Washing the bed linen is a project!
Cathy- Yay for a bright, sunny day, birds singing, being grateful for where you live, another OP day. Glad the embassy meeting provided more details.

So many pretty pictures from the night before but just not my day/night to see them I guess. I did my chores yesterday. Sorted all hats and things for the sale. I'm feeling kind of burned out on making things and may just be done. My problem is trying to make too many different things and people say to not have so much hodge podge in your booth, have a theme or "brand". We'll see. It's not like we are going on the sale circuit and need a fancy booth. Sure I'm just over thinking things. Will get ready to go to my class in a bit. Will be watching Ducks football this afternoon and then no other big plans but to get my steps and be OP. Dh now has the Game Day on so I'm going to get moving. Will check in this afternoon. Have a great day all. Jan Amy. It a curd to me yesterday I needed to eat up my cottage cheese for lunch . Your ward stars, are those something you had to cut or did you buy them in the shape? Hope you had fun with the kids last night. The Cricut is a machine I use for scrap booking, cuts letters and shapes etc. But it can do so much more, I just need to learn what I can do. Thanks for starting us. Cindy. Nothing better than going to bed on clean sheets. Hope you finally got to bed and slept well. Cathy. Love the pic of Bella having her breakfast. Hope the mosquitos left the building. Stay safe, glad you can talk to kids. Carole. Enjoy your long weekend. Sorry the kitchen was so crazy on your last day. Hope they get the dishwasher fixed before you go back.

And just like that, the wedding is over! I didn’t have to play everything I had prepared. When I was ready to start, none of the guests were there yet! Better to have too much than not enough! It’s a beautiful day here today. DS and Jackson came down to hunt. DH made dinner in the crockpot, so I don’t have to do anything! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hi! I had such a nice day today! I slept in, went to workout. She wanted us to do a mini Hyrox—-I had zero desire to do it! I didn’t really say much but she asked me if I dreaded this. YES! She gave me a MUCH easier workout Took pups for a walk. Got a couple chores done. Now we’re sitting outside to watch a scary movie with a fire. Going to have s’mores in a bit! Have a great night!

Hi All!
UT won the Red River Rivalry and just watched the Ducks win! Go Jan! USC lost...lots of OT in games....sports newscast over.
Talked with my SIL yesterday for about an hour. She is moving fast. My brother had a couple of cars and she was able to sell them to a friend of his. Several of his friends are really stepping up to help. She gets "helpful" advice from a friend that has been around sixty years.....and I mean that sarcastically. I'm amazed they have stayed friends. It was good to chat.
My infusionist called to ask how I was feeling and whether I could come in earlier on Tuesday....YES!
Amy, hope you have a wonderful time at Six Flags! I'm about at the same stage as you with Stridekick. Will work on it tomorrow. Love pistachio ice cream!
Jan, happy belated birthday...I should have picked up on it! Hope you enjoy your Cricut and learn more of what you can do with it. You asked me a few days about DS still looking. He is but finding a job east, north or south is a lot harder than going into Dallas. He was working with his boss on Thursday and and it took three hours to get home. There was a crash on the bridge and all lanes closed. There has been an accident on the bridge almost every night and many mornings. The construction is suppose to be going on for more than a year. So for now he is content to keep looking. i would make what you like to make and don't worry about other people's opinion. I find when I go to a Farmer's Market and I can see just one item, I don't stop, variety makes me stop.
Vicki, glad that the wedding went well! Better to be prepared. Will DS and DGS stay over? Yay for DH cooking!
Carole, glad you had a nice day and that you got an easier workout. Enjoy sitting outside, under the stars, watching a scary movie. What movie was it? Enjoy the s'mores.
Cathy, always good to see your posts. I hope the mosquitoes stay away. Bella is so sweet. Glad you were able to get info from the Embassy. Prayers.
So today would have been DH and my 39th anniversary. DS made the mistake of mentioning it to friend/girl and she dropped off lovely red roses. I love them but feel she gives me too much. DS and she are going to the Subie Fest this coming weekend so I guess we'll have company. I'll deal.
Breathing is better, sore but know I'm making good progress. Need to get the tiredness under control and the clean sheets were wonderful!
Hugs, Cindy

OP yesterday, stayed home, talked to our daughter and she wanted to know if I have a copy of our marriage certificate - found it - sent a photo via WhatsApp. She said on a form for immigration visa that if one is the spouse sponsoring the husband/wife one question is whether or not the marriage has been consummated. My answer was, "Well, at least twice." and she sent back a LOL emoji. I doubt we will come to that but she is doing her due diligence.
I think lunch today is going to be green beans in tomato sauce on rice or bulgur...
Mosquitoes are smaller, black, and insistent. I have Vape mat inside but outside they are horrible.
