Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

HOCUS POCUS, WE NEED TO FOCUS!
September 3 - October 31
The focus of this challenge is to become a healthier, happier, Boo-ti-ful person for Halloween and it wonāt be a costume.
As always we are working towards/maintaining being AF! We need to take a look at what is our witching hour and how do we prevent it. What can you replace your brew with? One suggestion is make a list of treats that you will be able to have if you donāt give into the brew. Give yourself a face mask (facial) or maybe make mummy jalapeƱo poppers.
For this challenge to work you have to commit and take it seriously in spite of the puns. Respect the importance of the challenge. RESPECT YOURSELF by focusing on your health and taking care of yourself.
This isn't easy, no one said it would be. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a moratorium and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine your detours, not necessarily to take them but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Don't give yourself an excuse that oh my day has been a fright so I will have a drink or I'm bored so I will drink to get through the evening. During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. We understand there may be special occasions for which you may plan for an AIM detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So what are you going to be for Halloween and beyond? A much healthier, happier person sounds great! RIP alcohol and junk food. AND you will be going into the final two months of the year in great shape!
Have a healthy, happy Halloween!

DH & I took the golf cart to the top of the hill to walk yesterday morning, the weather was lovely. When we got back I worked on sanding the handles for the flyswatters and magic wands. DH helped with drilling holes for hanging the flyswatters and sawing the dowel rods for magic wands. I used the hot glue gun to glue the handles and ribbons on my stitched projects. I ended up with 12 flyswatters and have finished 2 magic wands so far. The magic wands would also make dandy cat toys. All this crafting took most of the day, some of it on the couch. DH grilled pork chops for dinner, which we had with pasta, green beans and sliced tomatoes. After dinner I did more stitching, watched 60 Minutes and a Hallmark movie. I stayed up a bit too late finishing stitching over the glued areas of the flyswatters and then reading, but slept well.
It's another pretty day, windy and a little warmer in the low 60's. It's heading to the mid 70's, but will get down in the 40's tonight. We've got 30's in the forecast this week, which may mean the end of the summer garden. I got a group text from the Monday night yoga instructor saying she'll do tonight's class and next Monday and that will be it. I have mixed feelings. I love the class, but don't enjoy going to a class at 6pm, especially in the winter. And it will be $$$ saved.
Jan- WTG steps, PU, blue dot, AF, crafting, only 36 non-AF days, focusing on the positive. Sorry about the disappointing behavior of the Ducks player. Yay for being inspired by the Cricut class. New shingles is not a fun way to spend money. I am surprised Fitbit hasn't brought back challenges since Google so loves to collect our data. I guess I'm doing okay with however many calories I'm burning, maybe it is just that I burn less since I weigh less. It does seem like even on my highest cheat days, I'm still in a 500 calorie or so deficit. I'm still having issues getting Stridekick to sync with Fitbit.
Carole- WTG for a productive day. Hope all works out with Alexis' BF. We travel through TN on I-24 on our way to Indiana, lots of mountains, lakes. The area around Chatanooga is beautiful, but traffic is bad and lots of air pollution.
Cindy- I say you need all that sleep. I can log into Stridekick okay but can't sync with Fitbit. I did find a suggestion to revoke the permissions in the Fitbit app, then re-allow them in the Stridekick app. I did have 2 permissions, which I revoked, but it didn't seem to help. Sorry you were disappointed in your new recipe, but it's good to try new things.

October 15: October 22: October 28 Happy Halloween! Final weigh in: Good morning all. Went a bit crazy yesterday. Between the rainy Sunday, too much couch time with snacks and a nap I seriously will have my act together today. The big news was DS dropped the news he plans to propose when they are in Miami in a couple weeks. It's homecoming, they are going to the game, friends are coming that they went to school with, and he figures it's the right time and place. Yikes. I told him he can't change his mind if the team loses Now we wait. I told my cousin but not telling anyone else until it's a done deal. Maybe this will get my brain in gear and I'll figure out how to lose the next 20#. Not much on the plan today except run the errands I avoided yesterday. Never left the house except for my walk. We got rain but I don't think enough to do a lot of good. Cool the next few days and then warm again before the weekend. I booked a campsite at Devil's Lake for one more trip before we get the Van winterized and put away early November. We actually brought up the space heater yesterday and had it going a bit last night, and this morning the furnace kicked on. The cold days are coming. Plan is to get to my meeting tomorrow morning and check in. Hope you all have a good week. Jan Carole I smiled at he asked her to be his GF. Didn't know that's what you do anymore, thought you just hung out together long enough until you figured out you were BF and GF ha ha. How did they meet? Hope it turns out to be a good match. The pics of all the "kids" in their Halloween outfits was so cute. Enjoy your day off. Cathy Hope the busyness of the day is enjoyable and you get done what you want to do. Cindy Who knows what's happening with people's disregard for manners, kindness and boundaries. Think it has a lot to do with the political climate we've moved into. Keep resting if it's what you need. Hope you can get some of your Halloween decorations up today. Glad DS liked the "cheesy" dish. I need to stick to more tried and true also, and healthy ones at that!! Amy Hope you get a few more things out of the garden before it has to get put to bed. But maybe you're ready to be done for the season. Guess I now have to say 37 days not AF but I'm still feeling pretty good about that and know what to do. Not sure if DH brought wine home thinking I'd want to celebrate DS news or if he wanted to not think about it. Not sure he'll ever think any girl is "good enough" for DS but I like her. Sounds like you will have a lot to offer at the craft sale. Sorry the yoga will be ending but good to save the $$. Maybe she'll start up again next spring, or your other class will continue or add a day. I need to find that 500 cal deficit, just need to get real because I know where to start. I did throw away the last 3 Chocolate chip cookies yesterday, of course after I'd already eaten all the chips and dip mess. Waving hi to all. Need to get moving and find some breakfast.

Hi girls. Happy Monday! Yesterday was a no piano/organ day at church! I came home and took a nap, and then went outside to at least get a walk in. Then I spent the evening watching tv. I like watching things Iāve recorded so I can flit past the commercials. Do any of you still watch Dancing with the Stars? The only way I will watch it is if I can buzz through the nonsense. I just like to see them dance. I donāt know any of the stars except the one male gymnast. Our electric went out last week so I missed who got eliminated, but I think it was the 2 old guys. They barely move and their partners do all the dancing! I donāt have to leave the house today! I already missed my normal WW zoom. I havenāt even been on Connect yet. My activity goal is to get all my active hours in and maybe an online dance. I do want to get all my wedding music organized and put away. Did I tell you guys that someone agreed to be president of our Womenās Ministry next year? Iāll still be involved, of course, but wonāt have as much to think about!
Amy: Like Jan, Iām getting the emails about the compound shot from WW. I wouldnāt mind trying it, but you have to sign up for an entire year. What if I was one who had side effects? If I ever decide to try it, Iāll get a script from my dr. Did you say the WW program is more monthly too?
Jan: How exciting to be the MOG! Mother of the Groom! Iām glad you like her. We all want our kids to be happy! The ādirectorā of the murder/mystery goes to my church. We worked together with the skits for Bible School. Itās going to be so fun! Thereās really not a lot of lines to be memorized. Itās mainly improv as long as the ideas get across. Iām working on my southern drawl! Weāre going to meet once a week until the play on the 16th. Oh, and no luck hunting. They did see doe, but were looking for the big buck! They eat a lot of venison, ground, and steaks.
Carole: Yay for a new boyfriend! Had they been seeing each other? What about Ty? Anyone heās interested in? Tennessee sounds like a nice area! And not too far from the ocean!
Cindy: wow, a dozen roses! Enjoy them! Poor DS. He just canāt say no to her! Maybe he can set up some guidelines for āifā she stays! Iām glad you are feeling some better. Donāt push yourself. And that you can get your infusion earlier!
Cathy: I can see your artistic side shining through with both your pictures and your writing style on FB. lol on at least twice! š
