Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

HOCUS POCUS, WE NEED TO FOCUS!
September 3 - October 31
The focus of this challenge is to become a healthier, happier, Boo-ti-ful person for Halloween and it won’t be a costume.
As always we are working towards/maintaining being AF! We need to take a look at what is our witching hour and how do we prevent it. What can you replace your brew with? One suggestion is make a list of treats that you will be able to have if you don’t give into the brew. Give yourself a face mask (facial) or maybe make mummy jalapeño poppers.
For this challenge to work you have to commit and take it seriously in spite of the puns. Respect the importance of the challenge. RESPECT YOURSELF by focusing on your health and taking care of yourself.
This isn't easy, no one said it would be. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a moratorium and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine your detours, not necessarily to take them but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Don't give yourself an excuse that oh my day has been a fright so I will have a drink or I'm bored so I will drink to get through the evening. During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. We understand there may be special occasions for which you may plan for an AIM detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So what are you going to be for Halloween and beyond? A much healthier, happier person sounds great! RIP alcohol and junk food. AND you will be going into the final two months of the year in great shape!
Have a healthy, happy Halloween!

October 15: 196.4. 195.4 at home today October 22: October 28 Happy Halloween! Final weigh in: Good morning all. Up by 5:30 this morning, guess I got caught up on my sleep . I went to bed by 1/2 time last night as it looked like the Ducks were a sure win, and they were. Pretty sure DH stayed up too late and had a few too many beers, not sure when I’ll see him come down this morning. Just gives me more quiet time. I scheduled myself a flu and Covid shot this morning at 9:30 and then I may walk the Farmer’s Market as I think it’s the last one. Would like to pick up a few more delicata or maybe some acorn squash that will last awhile. We need a few things at the grocery, fresh food and coffee supplies, but I swear we are going to eat from the fridge and freezer the rest of the month! It’s going to be beautiful here the next few days, even maybe break a record on Monday and be over 80. We will get some of the patio furniture put away in the shed and probably the smoker. Hope we can grill out a few more times. We usually just cover the grill and leave it out. Not sure what else is on the plan for the day, of course college football will be on. I started some of the bedding and laundry from the Camper. The comforter, blanket and mattress pad are all so bulky they each need their own load with just a few other things, so I see a lot of stairs in my future today . The bulbs are still taunting me from the front door area, make a goal to get at least 1 bag in this weekend. Thinking I may have to water first today just to soften up the ground enough to dig. At some point I also have to go over and check on the neighbor’s cat. Plenty to keep me busy today and out of trouble. Hope you all have a great weekend. Better get my Fitbit charged up and get moving. Jan Amy Hope you do well on your sale. I need to sort through some table clothes or something to put over our booth to bring all the odd tables etc together and make it festive. May have to check the Dollar tree to see if I can get some matching ones. Take a picture of your booth so we can see your new sign. Cindy. Hope the sleep is helping and you are feeling better. UT has been having a good season, GL today. Cathy You are always busy, glad you can talk to the kids today. Yay for days of no cooking. GG. Sorry the scale went up this week, I’m very familiar with that occurrence. The same pounds come and go like old friends. Working on a down week, going to not use all my weeklies!! For real this time, ha ha. And then I came home last night a baked 3 break apart cookies because I wanted a treat with my tea. At least I only ate 1 1/2. Carole Would be nice if Brookfield could modernize and look nice for their 100 birthday. Haven’t been there for years! Waving hi to all.

DH & I drove to Logan Farm Park yesterday to walk and check out the farmers market, didn't buy anything, but only b/c the plant guy wasn't there. We stopped at Ingles for groceries on the way home. When we got home I took the porch plants out of the garage, watered them and the fall garden plants. The clematis still looks pretty good after the frosts, the tomatoes look mostly dead, the green bean vines look okay, we'll see if they produce any more. After lunch I packed up the rest of the Fall Fest stuff and we loaded DH's truck. When Cory got here we went to eat at the Salt 'n Pepper cafe. I got a shrimp po' boy, DD got pancakes, DH got fried catfish and grits, DS got a southwest skillet. On the way home we drove around the neighborhood looking at Halloween decorations, some people do it up big. I was up a little later than I planned, then had trouble falling asleep.
It's another pretty day. It got colder than I anticipated in the upper 30's but I don't think we got frost. Hopefully all the porch plants are okay. I might be a little anxious about the Fall Fest. Right before I woke up I had a dream about disputing with my neighboring booths about space. They kept putting their stuff on my tables, even though we are supposed to bring their own. The squabbling kept me from setting up my stuff. Also, a former co-worker's grandson was having his bar mitzvah in the middle of everything. Hopefully everything goes more smoothly than my dream.
Jan- Glad you had a nice time.
Cindy- Glad you are feeling better, are able to eat. Hope the tiredness passes soon. Hugs!
Cathy- Yay for leftovers! Hope the review goes well and you enjoy the new book.

Hi girls. Been a good day. Lots done on my to do list. Grocery store, market, vaccines, and making a chicken pot pie for dinner. Still moving laundry along. The one flannel Duvet cover that was on the down comforter takes like 3 times to get dry, and that's with moving everything out that gets stuck in the inside each time I go down and check. . The Miami game was a thriller and glad they won. Michigan isn't looking good but haven't been watching that much, waiting for Cindy's game later! Did some knitting, went over and fed the cat and she got some pets. Going to be a relaxing evening on the couch. I may have overdone it at the market on squash, one stand was having buy on get one, as it's the last one of the year, so basically $1 each. I got acorn, spaghetti and delicata. Got in my steps and carrying that bag around was heavy! good workout. Hope you all had a great day. Can't wait to hear about the sale Amy. Jan

We went out for pizza today and I didn't count points yesterday so am thinking dinner should be fruit, soup, or something light. Talked to our daughter yesterday, hope to talk to our son and his family this evening, and will finish a historical romance that is a mish-mash of the grinch-scrooge-pollyanna-and??? and write the review before I sleep. Not sure what book is up after the one I will finish later today. I voted online last night and am glad that is done while we have internet, electricity, etc. Thankful to have books to read, electricity to charge devices and so many other things.
Hope everyone's Sunday is as calm and sunny as mine has been so far today!
