!Alcohol Free All the Welcome to our 2017 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

NEW CHALLENGE DRYUARY CLEANSE "I look to the New Year with a renewed commitment to Progress" (credit to Hazelden)
The sense of true cleansing does not mean just ridding the body of toxins. We're exposed to harmful substances all the time; they're in our diet (pesticides, microbes, and mercury, to name a few) and the very air we breathe (think disinfectants, deodorizers, and the gasses released by fresh paint). We can choose to eliminate as many of these as possible. But there is also a Spiritual aspect as well. Toxins bring you down. When we eliminate harmful substances from our diet and eliminate as many as possible from our lives, we will feel rejuvenated from the inside out.
During the holidays we can easily overload on food and alcohol as well as the commercialization of the holiday. We may feel inundated with stress and turn to self medication through alcohol. The sense of peace that we seek will not be found in the bottle. So here we are on the first day of the NEW YEAR! Where will you be a year from today? Will you still be wondering why you are trying to find satisfaction through food and alcohol or are you ready to make a change now and cleanse yourself of old habits? Let's take the first three months of this year, 90 days, to create new habits, cleanse ourselves of old habits, and become the person we know we can be. It will be an adventure that can only enhance you!!
From January 1 through March 31 we are challenging ourselves to go without alcohol and cleanse ourselves of habits that make ourselves feel bloated, anxious, and just overwhelmed. For some alcohol issues cannot be manage on your own and this board is here to support you in getting help. This board has posters at many different stages in the journey. Some know that being AF is the way to go, others hope to be AIM, but we are all conscious of the slippery slope that can lead to AIE. We want to feel empowered, not let toxins control us, but let us control toxins.
You will not be kicked out of the challenge because of a slip but understand why the slip, talk about it. Christmas and New Year's may have given you a freedom to overindulge but don't let that continue. Anytime is a good time to start, there is no magic with a Monday, or starting with the next day since today is lost....but there is some sort of magic with January 1. We are more determined, more open to admitting to our new year resolution because we are all in it together. Tell someone you are going dry for January and they say I should too. The trick is to keep that MOMENTUM going and making the commitment to ninety days! Let's make our living environment a healthy environment. Face it, no matter how motivated, committed you are, on January 1, having alcohol, junk food, trigger foods, in your kitchen is not going to help. Give it away, dump it, GET RID OF IT! Temptation is going to happen. Don't make it easier to give in. You are only kidding yourself when you say I have it in the house for company, for the kids, the just in case. Assess your kitchen....ask does this help me or hinder me? DO NOT have a sentimental attachment to alcohol or food.....the stuff will still be out there, it does not magically disappear. Remember, this is your health! This is your LIFE! To All, Great Success!

Happy New Year and Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit!
I slept on the couch for most of prime time, but did wake up around 11:30 and saw the ball drop. Actually stayed up until around 1:30, so I saw the ball drop in New Orleans too, lol.
DH, DD, and I had our own little New Year's Eve appetizer party, with cheese fondue, shrimp cocktail, spinach artichoke dip, and pizza. Today I plan to get BOT with the food, but we will have our traditional New Year's Day meal of roast pork, fried cabbage, black eyed peas and cornbread.
Our "cold" front is over- it's back to 70 degrees this morning, so I can go barefoot on the beach.

DRYUARY CLEANSE!
DAILY STATS: AF, AIM or ANIM: AF # of AF days: 40
Beginning weigh in January 1: 185.4
January 8: January 15: January 22: January 29: February 5: February 12: February 19: February 26: March 5: March 12: March 19: March 26: Final weigh in March 31:
Good morning and Happy New Year!! How wonderful to start the new year with a clear head and a clean conscious! I am happy that I didn't have any A to start the new year even though I was tempted yesterday. I did realize that I had gotten off in my # of AF days so I corrected that in my stats. I have a "count up" app on my phone that keeps up with the days since my brain has decided it is too old to keep up with those things now! LOL
Cindy - LOVE the new challenge! Thank you for keeping us going with new challenges all these years! Hope your sinus infection is quickly on the way out the door!
Amy - I loved the blessing! Your New Years Eve menu sounds yummy! You know I love any meal that includes shrimp! LOL I'm so ready to be back on track too as is evidenced by my weigh in this morning! How easy it is to just let one pound at a time start creeping back on!
Liz - so proud of you for your AF year!
GG - I would have such a hard time if there were A in the house! I will be doing a fridge clean out today to get myself set for clean eating!
Actually I am going to start my New Year out with a "Pouch Reset". This is a 5 day plan designed to go back to the basics of eating and drinking like I did right after my surgery. So today and tomorrow will be protein drinks and lots of fluids. The surgery wasn't a magic fix by any means and was just a tool and I have to remind myself of that and not let myself get back into the behaviors that led to my weight problems. I'm headed to church after while. Hope everyone has a most blessed start to the New Year! Murphy

Happy New Year's all!! Wow, Amy, look at you, a diamond member while we are all still here polishing our brass!! It was early to bed for me last night, didn't stay up to watch 2016 "die", had wine with dinner and knew if I stayed up I would just get in trouble. Also have to work this morning so that kept me AIM, but I told DH that was it, I'm in for the challenge and want to post 90 days AF at the end. Tonight we'll have "dinner" like Amy's as I'll get home later, french bread, cheese, shrimp, will have to make my ginger ale mocktail in my wineglass, but I can do this! One day at a time. Tomorrow I'm off so definitely tree taking down day and cleaning. It's supposed to snow, hope so, will be a good excuse to just stay in and relax. Hope you all have a great day!!! Rabbit rabbit rabbit...... Amy Barefoot on the beach sounds wonderful!! Enjoy your day off! I've always looked at those holiday sheets they sell, wondered who did that, now I know Barb Glad you got past the A craving. Each time I hope it gets easier. I'll have to have a solid plan as I know it will be in the house. Need to go through the fridge too!! GG Yay for having a plan and getting those steps. I need to take more steps around the store when I'm there, but I'm mostly supposed to stay in the kids department, maybe more walks to the drinking fountain could be snuck in Cindy Hope you got a good nights sleep. Thanks for the new challenge. What are your plans for today? Hugs and best wishes to all, will check back later!!

Happy new year! I can't believe it's 2017! DH and I went to dinner and came home and watched Deepwater Horizon. Alexis and Tyler had their own plans---I think this was the first year we were alone.
Amy, I loved the totd the other day, about being fat in august! You are a true Christmas person, I've never heard of anyone with special shower curtains!
Barb, do you have monday off?
Jan, Ty has started early morning batting in nov! Try outs are in feb, I think. Alexis had the 3 of us open presents yesterday, at the same time. Inside were iowa sweatshirts! I'm a little disappointed she's not heading to fsu but also relieved, I want to be near my grand babies! (Not that she won't find someone from CA or FL, but hopefully she'll stay near us!)
Liz, so proud of you remaining af!
Cindy, I hope you're feeling better today.
Helen, vicki--hi!!
Not sure what I'm going to do today, see a movie? Clean my craft room? Have an awesome day and year!

Happy New Year Friends! Yay for 2017, when I reflect back, it wasn't all bad, DS put it succinctly, "It could have been worse, I am still here"! God was good to us and although cancer returned to him the beginning of the year, right now it is gone, and I am thankful for right now. Last night was pretty quiet as usual, had a little Chinese, then DS went to DD's party, DH watched tv in his room, and Buddy and I watched it in my room. Today is a BOT day and I will be doing a little more knitting. Can't wait to finish this jacket, I am working on the shawl collar, then the pockets, then it is sewing together time. It only took about 4 years, I think, lol.
Cindy~Thank you for the new challenge, I am ready! Hope you feel better soon, enjoy the game today!
Amy~Yay for the warmer weather and being able to walk barefoot on the beach!
Murphy~Yay for staying AF last night, I knew you wouldn't cave! I use the date and time calculator on the web, I could never keep track on my own. Congrats on the 40AF days!
GG~Good idea getting in some exercise in between! New year, new beginnings, new possibilities!
Jan~Yay for staying AIM, the worse thing I remember when working retail was working with a hangover! Keep on walking to the water cooler, lol!
Carole~Congrats to Lexi! So exactly how far will she be from you, my geography is a little stale after all these years! Don't clean today, just relax and watch movies!
Helen~Hope to see more of you here!!!
Need to do a little knitting, enjoy your day!

I have been doing my walking 10 minutes at a time. But I made it to 10,000! On a Sunday!! I just spent a good bit of time on Connect. One thing I read that I liked. Today is the first day of the year. Make it count. Then make every day afterwards count!
After church I came home and ate lunch, then went back in for a wedding. It was beautiful. Our pastor's daughter got married. Beautiful service, beautiful music, beautiful bride, beautiful message. Did I say it was beautiful?? Lol
Barb: Do you still have your Fitbit?
Carole: What a cute way for Lexi to tell you! I still want to see Deepwater Horizon. It looked good.
Liz: Yep, New Year, fresh starts. Everything seems possible.
Cindy: 14 pounds is amazing! Hope you are feeling better! Yes, don't mix NyQuil with A!!
The problem with me posting at night is that I'm tired! I can feel my eyes shutting! Time to relax a bit!
