Good Morning Diva, Toots must be exhausted today. I hope he gets lots of rest and thanks to him and all of the others who put aside their own New Year's celebration to entertain others. My entertainment was New Year's Rockin' Eve with "stars" like Pitbull, Flo Rida, Jenny McCarthy, Fergie etc. who I have not seen since last year Guess I keep waiting for the ghost of Dick Clark to return. Other entertainment was the dog dragged her new blanket from the family room through the kitchen to where we have dinner. I guess she likes it. Bee, my MIL kept a diary every year of her life from her teens until her death. Unfortunately many burned in an apartment fire but we have the one from the last year she could write well. I also have a calendar where my mother kept the details of my father's stroke and death. I used to keep a diary and journal but it was just another thing I stopped. Too many other distractions. I remember how hard it was to find a diary with a lock once everyone had a computer. Today we are going to a Japanese New Year's party in the afternoon. Naomi, yesterday I got no farther than getting all of the decorations into two rooms and the ornaments in baskets. Instead I took a bag full of cookies I found in the freezer to my daughter. They are the little black bottom cupcakes which are her favorites. The grand babies were going to celebrate the new year with hats and horns and the 4 year old was going to watch Zootopia with his parents after his baby sister went to sleep. I know very few people who still go out on New Year's Eve. My youngest though celebrated with her husband watching fireworks from their hotel rooftop in Rome, a great memory for them. They come home on Monday. I will start packing away the decorations until it is time to leave for the party. Lots of the food is meant for good luck, health, happiness. Then we come home and for dinner have black eyed peas for more good luck with cornbread and a kale salad. If the luck is really true, I should buy a lottery ticket. Have a restful New Year's Day!

Good morning, Audrey & Naomi and AWF!
Toots was home by 11:45 PM so we got to greet the year together. We'll chat more about the gig this morning. The neighborhood fireworks were more intense than in past years but fortunately short-lived (we are suburban-residential; lot sizes are not especially large). He's still sleeping but I've been up since 5 AM and following my new plan I am UP and into my day.
Speaking of journals/diaries... I found the last notebook I was using (opening page is August 3, 2009). It has intermittent entries from then through June 2016, including my 2015 N*Y*Eve Reflections. So I reviewed them and added LAST evening's reflections as well. And I'll see how many more entries I make this year. I also have a new 5-year journal that is intended to be one- or two-line entries - THAT one I really want to keep up with. I will post my daily gratitudes there, as well.
WHAT: Today is the second of our family's traditional Three Gatherings of Christmas: N*Y*Day at the MousekeHouse. We're looking forward to it! The other two are KressMess Eve and the Cousins' Christmas Extravaganza (that one is at The Plantation - Son#2's - next Saturday 1/7 and CLOSES the season).
HOW: We will pick up the chicken & ribs at 1 PM and head to the Mousekehouse. She's cut the menu back a bit, based on KressMess Eve. The DGKids are more interested in playing games than in eating - it's good that the seven of them CAN play without too many skirmishes. And we'll enjoy the afternoon together.
I need coffeeeeee.... and a healthy breakfast.
Have a healthy-eating day, all, and joy and blessings - and success - to you in the new year!

Happy New Year all! Audrey - Enjoy the Japanese party. Have fun over at your niece's Naomi Glad his gig went well, MJ and you got to ring in the New Year together. Have fun at Mousekehouse! I am not a journal type person any more. I used to keep a very detailed diary but that was long ago. I probably should meditate more. I don't have a plan yet today but I have a very safe environment so I am not worried. Dinner last night was awesome and not too much. We had a blast playing pinochle and watching a Hallmark movie. Off to walke Charlie and then see if an opening occurred for today's spin class. They normally only allow you to book a week in advance but this class was wait listed a week ago Friday. I don't like that they have a "holiday schedule" for today. Both Sunday spin classes are normally packed and when you cut it to one, it's not fair to the regulars. But I'll get over it! LOL.

Good morning Audrey Naomi MJ susi and AWF. Sounds like a great NYE was enjoyed by all.
Audrey your Japanese NYD party sounds fun. Enjoy. Great job on getting the frozen cookies out! I'm sure DD will appreciate them.
Naomi enjoy your day! You have a great plan going. I also love sauerkraut. One our our neighbors brings it to us every once in awhile as her son makes his own.
MJ have fun writing in your journal. I find it very helpful especially if I'm stressed or down to 'get it out of my system' in that way. In my WW'er journal, I add one thing a day that I'm most grateful for. Today was opening up my eyes LOL. I keep it simple!
Susi nice that today will bring no distractions from your healthy eating plan. I'll also be working on getting back on track today. First thing (after coffee of course) is to get to the market and pick up fresh veggies for a salad.
Happy to say that we all remained awake to 'ring in the new year'. We got home at just about 1:00 a.m. It was a fun evening.
Waving to all that come online. I'll try to check back in later.

In my WW'er journal, I add one thing a day that I'm most grateful for. Today was opening up my eyes LOL. I keep it simple! Ann, last year I wrote my "gratitude" on the back of each page of my tear-off calendar and put the folded page in a jar. My plan was to sit and read them last night, but I was otherwise-occupied. So what I'll do is pull one out randomly THIS year to remember - and I'll be listing my gratitude in the brief-entry journal. THAT practice, I will maintain for sure. And I DEFINITELY K*I*S*S - some entries may be Best Day Ever.
Toots is up. I've had my bkfst; he'll make his now. Lazy day. Relaxing day. Day of No Responsibilities. And tomorrow can be just like it... <aaaAAAhhh>...

May all have a Happy New year!
Audrey, enjoy your Japanese New Year's party. I don't keep my journals. When I finish one, I re-read it, to gather stuff I may have missed seeing as I wrote it --- then I burn them. keeping a journal to me is just a way of getting stuff out of me, into the open, where it can be re-read, digested from a different view, take what is profitable and then discarded. I am just addicted to writing. I take copious notes when listening to anyone, and even when reading my devotionals.
Naomi, I went to bed also, and was woken up a lot with all the fireworks --- soem really earth shaking boomers. Two of the great-grands are at my son's house, they spent the night. Down here cabbage for prosperity, and black eyed peas for health. We are having veggie soup my son made yesterday. Enjoy your day at Debbie's.
MJ, enjoy your day at the MousekeHouse. Sounds like a good day planned.
Susi, glad you had a good time last night. I have never learned to play pinochle. Hope you get to spin today.
Ann, sounds like you have a solid plan veggie wise. I agree about journaling when stressed. If I get too personal, or too ugly, it is okay, as I always buy spiral journals --- tear the bad out.
How --- started my day with pancakes and bacon with the great-grandies. They had chocolate chips in theirs --- I passed. Will be in line for water - water - water - again today.
Hope AWF have an awesome New Year!

Again – Happy New Year to all. Glad you had a good time last night Ann. Most of the time I do have cheese with my eggs. The next sweet potato boat will have shredded cheddar mixed in. Toots deserved to sleep in today, MJ Time with family is want matters Bee. Glad you were with them Welcome Sulli. Hope you will join us here more often! Naomi – Look for the Pacific brand organic low sodium broths. The beef has only 140 mg. sodium per cup! I was able to get into the spin class which was awesome. I’m making some creative use of various leftovers. There will be a couple of sweet potato boats this week. There were enough caramelized onions left over to make a small batch of onions soup. Breakfast was “loaded potato skins” for 5 SP. During the games will be buffalo cauliflower with Bolthouse blue cheese dressing and raw veggies with a spicy dip.

Sullicat, Happy New Year to you too! Bee, your journaling reminded me of my friend Sandy who has kept all of hers in the top of closets throughout her house. WW/Oprah is coming out with one for the new year but I think I will pull out the Skinnytaste one I bought last year. What I like is I can start any time and add my own dates. For all of us though I wanted to share this blog post I get from UC Davis ucdintegrativemedicine.com/2017/01/new-years-resolutions/#gs.B6F6JFc I think there is a lot of good ideas in it especially on focusing on one habit at a time. We say on January 1st we will be perfect and that fails before the end of the month. If we focus on one habit at a time, we will develop new and better habits. We went to bed at 1 am with the dog between us and got out of bed at 8 am although I was up earlier to use the bathroom. She was so afraid of the sounds at midnight that she followed me everywhere. I knew she wanted to sleep with us. Normally she sleeps on one of her two dog beds or the couch. Unlike Naomi's Evan, she slept well all night. Our 4 year old still goes into bed with his parents even though he has a big boy's bed in the room with his baby sister's crib. She sleeps like a log but he has always been a light sleeper. We say it is too much sugar but what do we know. MJ for the first time since I can remember we will not have the kids over for New Year's Day. All of these celebrations are just too tiring for me especially with the birthdays thrown in. I am glad Toots got lots of rest. Susi, I know what you mean about spin. Last year at yoga all of these "new" people came in after class started, had no place for their mats and spoiled the karma of the class. Of course they never returned or did perhaps one more time. Ann, I am glad you and Carl had a nice evening. Bee, how great to start your day with pancakes, bacon and best of all, the great grandies. I am getting a mammogram on Wednesday and my reward is to have a fluffy pancake at Batter Up, our best pancake house that is across town but near the imaging center. I will have just tea and fruit before the test. Normally I get a senior special which is one pancake, 1 piece of bacon and 1 scrambled egg. I do not like stuff in my pancakes and they are huge so 1 is more than enough. I hope June will be back soon. Happy day to all.

Hi all. Back from shopping and my fridge is chock full of fresh veggies and fruits. Now I can start to focus on healthy eating once again. Didn't do too badly so far. I am behind in my water so will have to 'fix' that.
Thanks for the link, Audrey. I shall read that later in the day.
Susi I love bolthouse dressings...especially the blue cheese! Enjoy.
Pam enjoy time with your family.
LaDonna good to see you. Glad you enjoyed your trip.
I'm also missing June!
Time for me to unwind with a cup of tea. Staying up late last night is taking its toll!
Ciao
