The Mind☯Body☯Spirit connection emphasis is creating balance, wholeness, and coherence in our lives. It acknowledges that how we think, what we feel, and what we believe create the life we live and the world around us.
Let's get started! We'll post:

Good day, dear ones:
My, but it is quiet here of late. Yesterday's torrential downpour has made yardwork all but impossible. I can put on my waders and go prune or deadhead, I guess. (I don't own waders.) Despite the clouds and heavy rain, the flowers are singing in their brilliant sunny yellows and heavenly purples! All is good.
Cathy, I was saddened to read of the loss of your kittens but happy to read one survived. That is a special kitty. My thoughts are with you.
Carol: How is the flooding up your way? Any improvement? I know they have slowly been releasing water (up near Montreal?).
Waves to Michelle, Pat, and Lisa. I hope everyone has a chance to chime in this weekend.
Suzanne
Daily Affirmation: Contemplate the flowers and learn, from them, how to live.
Fitness Report: Ended up taking 2 walks yesterday to view Mother Nature's wrath after the storms. Local small streams were just gushing; it was quite something; never underestimate the power of nature.
Health Goal: Get outside. Walk. Move. Enjoy!

Welcome Cathy! Glad to have you on board but I'm sorry about the kittens.
I ended up calling out sick again yesterday after a miserable night with no sleep and coughing my brains out. I started the Prilosec in the A.M. and just had to rest all day. I've decided to try Dr. Joel Furhman's plan Eat to Live and put the book and cookbook on my Kindle, and spent most of the down time reading that. So I will start playing around with it. Stocked up on greens and fruits after my WW meeting this morning.
Daily Affirmation - keep trying new things, if you don't go whole hog you are sure to take away some good stuff.
Fitness Report - a lot of rest.
Health Goal - cautiously tread into Eat to Live.
Gratitude - knowing what the heck is going on and how to fix it.
Waves to anyone who joins us!

Good Afternoon, Dear Ones! Hi, Cathy, and welcome! Pat - kudos for trying new things...I firmly believe "right" foods can heal (wish I could get my sweetie to try some dietary changes for his health issues, but...) Suzanne - local streams aren't too bad now, not sure how the lakeshore is doing...will have to check it out later! Daily Affirmation - I practice loving kindness (to myself & others!). What I practice grows stronger. Fitness Goal - bike ride w/DBF, if he can fix broken part on his bike Health Goal - don’t use food for comfort (WI was disappointing today.) Gratitude - a non-rainy afternoon Be well! Carol

Thank you for the warm welcome! I have two days of being OP under my belt and am beginning day three. Hooray! I need to get more of some things into the house to ensure a healthy balance of foods for meals. Daily Affirmation: Life is a journey - it is what you make it - I choose to make it pleasant (in spite of the heat and humidity) Fitness Goal or report: We lost electricity yesterday in the morning and as I sat waiting for it to return I opted to put on shorts, walk outside for the first time in over a month and spent 20 minutes moving. Health Goal: Track in my journal - GHG's hit and points within range Gratitude: Grateful for AC in the bedroom to make sleep more pleasant! Stillness (Not sure what your name is): Your comment about rain and mud and waders made me think of squishy mud between toes in summertime...if it is not COLD and there is no lightning then deadheading barefoot might be fun NatureLover (again unsure of real names): I think I have the Furhman EAT TO LIVE book - vegan for the most part. I dabble with the idea of being vegan but so far have not totally embraced it. I do have more vegetarian/vegan meals than not, though. I hope you feel better and the cough improves. Starchild68 - Carol: I envy you the bike ride. Used to love riding when younger. I would NOT ride in Lebanon due to the hills and the crazy drivers!

Good Morning, Angels! Its a bright sunny Sunday morning here and I will be heading outside to embrace the good weather (more rain in the forecast for tomorrow).
Pat: I am so sorry to hear you're really not feeling well. I'm sending my healing thoughts your way. I know you've been diagnosed with a gastric condition, but I'll put on my Chinese Medicine cap for a moment here. In chinese medicine, the foods you eat are integral in improving the condition of your body and, in this case, healing your lungs. Cooling foods. Warming foods. "Moisturizing" foods. Do you have a dry cough? Or 'productive', as they say? I own a very good book: "The Tao of Nutrition". The book was recommended to me by my acupuncturist, who has a strong interest in healing foods and herbal medicine from a chinese medicine perspective. Since we both are suffering from lung irritation, I should revisit the pages of the book! I hope you'll share the tidbits you get out of your new book.
Cathy, I'm Suzanne (Stillness). Nature Lover is Pat. Congratulations on making it to Day 3. In my own experience, no matter who's food plan I am transitioning to, I always found the first three days of the transition to be the most difficult for me.
Carol: It sounds like you and DBF are avid cyclists. Do you ever watch the Tour de France on TV? Its going on right now. I'm not a cyclist but DH is; we really enjoy it. Originally, I watched because of the incredible serial (helicopter) shots of the race in various regions of France (especially the mountain regions). Now, I enjoy it for the cycling as well. Its pretty incredible.
'Shout-outs' to Lisa and Michelle!
Suzanne

Affirmation: My best days are ahead of me (and right now) H & F Goal: More functional fitness doing the extreme country gardening thing Spiritual goal: Lightness of being Gratitude: Our volunteer fire department. They were up in the middle of the night while I blissfully slept "Pink taping". Pink taping is when they go door to door in our valley putting pink tape on the farm gates so that we can be notified if we need to evacuate. This wildfire is just crazy out of control. Not very close at the moment but yesterday it was within a mile.
Cathy, Thanks!!! on the toes in squishy mud reminder---those were the days. Yesterday DH and I were sitting under the trees in the yard watching the planes drop fire retardant and I told him if we were younger we would take off our shoes. It felt so good to go shoe-less walking around in the grass.
Waving!!!

Happy Sunday!
Welcome Cathy! Kudos to you for sticking to it for 3 days. First days are the most difficult, right? I am also day three, and I feel better already. I had a dream last night that I was really skinny, totally flat tummy without 'sucking it in', so that was really inspiring.
Pat, hope you can find the cure to your health issue. I like the sound of the book Suzanne recommended. I'd like to read through that. Gonna check it out on Amazon.
Suzanne, how does your garden grow?
Carol, my sweetie needs to start making better food choices, too. He just bought new shirts in size XXL. He has started a diet with me, and lost 7lbs in 3 days. I believe it's due to the lack of sodium. He eats out a lot. It's always helpful to have the support at home, although his ideas are very different from mine. Last night we went to nieces softball game, running late we hadn't eaten dinner and came home at 10:30pm. He had a huge bowl of popcorn, I had a scrambled egg w/cheese on a corn tortilla. He's doing calories, I'm cutting white carbs. It seems to work for me.

Michelle, so scary about the fires!!! One mile is so very close! Please be safe!! I know our time share in Breckenridge has been threatened by the fire. I haven't checked in the past few days. Is there anything you can do for prevention besides leaving a good amount of space away from the house with no large vegetation?
Yesterday, I cleaned out my shed, went on a design appt, then putzed in the yard all afternoon, soaked in the hot tub and enjoyed a softball game on a beautiful evening. Pure Bliss! It finally feels like summer! Today DH is going to accompany me on a Garden Walk in the city, or take the bikes to the river for the day, hmmmm, hope we can meet up with DS for dinner. This is the most relaxing days I've had all summer long! yay!
affirmation - I am in the zone and loving it! health goal - good food choices while out and about today fitness goal - a lot of walking or biking, need to make a decision here. gratitude - a really cool and cloudy day, very unusual for this time of year.
