The Mind🌴Body🌴Spirit connection emphasis is creating balance, wholeness, and coherence in our lives. It acknowledges that how we think, what we feel, and what we believe create the life we live and the world around us.
Let's get started! We'll post:

Lisa: Last week you mentioned something you listened to (or watched or read ) and for the life of me I cannot find reference to your description (sorry for the vagueness). And I don't think I wrote it down or bookmarked it. Any idea what it is was? I'll go back thru the daily-threads, again, and see if I can find it.
Back later, Suzanne

Greetings everyone! And thank you for starting us, Suzanne. In the midst of my third day of EFL. Yesterday in the afternoon I felt very fatigued and shaky despite having plenty of food - thinking I need more protein earlier in the day. When I got home I took three heads of lettuce (red oak leaf, Boston and romaine) got it all washed and prepped for four huge salads and a mini one. We had salads with tuna and chopped apples. YUM! Yesterday's menu: B - green smoothie (kale, mango, Sun Warrior vanilla) MS - fruit bowl L - millet and whole bag of frozen Italian veggies AS - mmm, maybe more than ounce of nuts D - salad with tuna and apple * no wine ** no night nibbling Daily Affirmation - damn I'm starting to feel good. Fitness Report - Classical Stretch and kitchen mambo. Health Goal - stay the course. Gratitude - waking up happy! Greetings to all!!! Make it a great day.

Pat: You are right! Yesterday you said it is so awesome to be greeted with all the enthusiasm here, as we strive for healthier lifestyles. It is really helping me. I’m starting to recall the foods and ‘frig staples’ that helped me thru last year when I was so successful with WW. And the frig is being restocked! My lunch date for tomorrow was cancelled and that’s a good thing; I need a number of OP days under my belt before I eat out.
Cathy: You mentioned you are still learning your way around the ‘affirmations’. Sometimes I do an internet search for inspiration. I also keep a list of those I really like and reuse them regularly. It sounds like you are getting your fitness in without even thinking about it (feeding the ducks, stair-climbing) Good work!
Michelle: Keep us posted on how you’re finding the Beck Book Review (you, too, Cathy). I’ve seen the thread since the early days here but had no idea to what it referred. I checked the book out on Amazon to see what it what all about.
Carol: You mentioned buying some veg-friendly foods: One of my frig-staples was (& is again) a tray of prepared veggies. (I get it at BJs.) When I’d get a snack attack and want to reach for carbs (‘cause that’s who I am), I remind myself to reach for the veggies instead. Early on, someone said, “if you’re really hungry, you’ll eat an apple”. And I took it to heart. The tray I buy is less expensive - already cut up - than if I did it myself and sometimes that's the direction I have to go. (at least until I'm farming my own crops. )
Lisa: Its been a strange year for gardening here. Such crazy weather. All-in-all, my plants look lush. There are a few places in the yard where drainage is bad and plants are suffering. Even the River Birches are struggling. I bought a perennial last week that I’d never heard of; its gorgeous: Aralia Cordata ‘Sun King’. Are you familiar with it?
Daily Affirmation: I am a work in progress. (Thanks, Cathy) Fitness Goal: Try for some stretching and rolling (with the foam-roller). Health Goal: (Mental-health goal) Put away 5 things that are laying around (clutter). Gratitude: For the strong inspiration I'm getting here, which I really needed!

Pat: Our posts crossed. Sounds like a great day for you! Your menu sounds delicious; thanks for posting it. I'm always looking for healthy ideas. I am not familiar with the Sun Warrior Protein powder. I enjoy pea protein (powder) in my smoothies - it adds a slightly nutty-ish flavor and gives me an added source of protein when I need it. (No added flavors or sweeteners.)
Tuna with chopped apples on salad - that sounds good! And different. We get in a rut here. Did you use a salad dressing?

Suzanne, I found this one helpful--Day 19 "Stop fooling yourself" from the Beck Book:
If we are really honest with ourselves, we all know that we have an amazing ability to delude ourselves about food. We possess a long list of self-deluding sabotaging thoughts. We say to ourselves, It’s okay to eat this because it’s not a whole piece or I’ll work it out by eating less later or I’m celebrating or Everyone else is eating it or It’s free! The list goes on and on and all the while, a calorie is a calorie, no matter what - no matter when, no matter why or how you eat it.
The next time you have an urge to eat, Beck asks you to notice what’s going through your mind - that very thought that proceeds eating. Pay special attention to the thoughts that start with the phrase, It’s okay to eat this because… These are typically the fooling-yourself thoughts.
*Identify three of your most notorious self-deluding thoughts.
*What was happening when you succumbed to this thoughts.
Such an eye opener!
Affirmation: I love music!
H & F Goal: Keep working on the Beck Book
Spiritual Goal: Unitasking
Gratitude: Cathy's post about Ghandi. My favorite of his "Be the change you want to see".
Pat, Thanks for taking the time to post your journal.

Tuna with apples....never tried that one, but it sounds interesting! Thanks, Pat!
Suzanne, I've never heard of Aralia before, not sure why, but I looked it up, and don't know too many people who have space for that. I came home to my Tao of Nutirition Book I ordered on amazon. Oddly enough, I have some time to read it today!
I cannot get enough of the fresh fruits and veggies available now. I am in cherry heaven as we speak!

Yesterday was a BIG day for food and wine and the scale let me know I had overindulged. Thankfully I am home today and ready to be back OP again.
Daily Affirmation: I embrace this opportunity to be better than I was yesterday. I take responsibility for my choices today and always. Fitness Goal or report: Nothing yesterday - will see what today brings - have a feeling there will be laundry and some housekeeping Health Goal: To eat balanced OP meals and stay within points Gratitude: I am grateful for good friends here and online
SUZANNE: Started an affirmations document
NATURELOVER: Your menu sounds good. I have quinoa to try - never have. I am not sure I have ever tried millet.
