That was a good article; sometimes she's a little hard-core for me, but I have definitely bookmarked some of her stuff.

I agree that Dr. Berkeley can be a little strict or harsh but I think she speaks the truth. Weight loss and maintenance is hard work. I "liked" her on FB and also get email updates from her. I usually get a nugget of good information or inspiration from all of her postings.

That was a great article. Maintenance is hard work. Loosing definitely is, but everyone knows and expects that.
I don't think enough people recognize or validate how much work we put into maintaining. Including us, we need to recognize that we are working hard.

Linda - thanks for posting this. I'm getting very close to maintenance, so it looks like Dr. B might have some information that will help me.

linda72 I haven't read her in a bit, but she was always so black and white, and I have to be careful about that kind of thinking. I don't see myself giving up carbs any time soon, and for me, it was easy to feel a bit shamed by her. My mother was of the ilk that if you didn't think like her you were wrong, and that's a hard mindset to change.

I also can't seem to connect to the link you provided for the tips.

alias123 On FB look for Refuse to Regain: Barbara's World. On the web, go to refusetoregain.com Her name is Barbara Berkeley, M.D.

That was a good and interesting article. The one thing I don't agree with is her idea on carbs. She says to stick with protein, veggies and fruit. All fruit has carbs and some veggies do also so I think it's possible to go low carb without going no carb.I have cut way back on my carbs and only have one serving of fruit a day and I do fill in most of the day with protein and veggies but I'm like Kathy.I don't see me giving up carbs anytime soon. However I think she's definitely got some good ideas.

I just have such a history of dis-ordered eating; I have changed so much and hope I will change more, but when I feel restricted it's not a good thing.

Kathy,You have done so well.I don't see any reason you should restrict yourself anymore. There is no one diet fits all or how one person maintains may not fit another person.I think Dr B has the basics down and I definitely agree with not regaining but I don't think any of us want to give up carbs completely.
