No eclipse here in Lebanon. My daughter, in Missouri, said the night bugs made night sounds and the bats came out to eat when it was dark and it looked like dusk. My thought today was that housework is exercise -> I hate exercise and housework -> I need to exercise -> maybe on September 1 (with days OP under my belt) I should set aside an hour daily to tackle the house one spot/chore at a time till the house is tidy...and get my exercise at the same time... Daily Affirmation: Positive thoughts generate positive feelings and attract positive life experiences Fitness Goal or report: Walk two laps around the house (minimum) and do 10 wall pushups and squats three times today Health Goal: Stay OP and record on MFP Gratitude: Grateful for my positive attitude recently SUZANNE: I hate it when the negative invades instead of the positive! You mentioned wanting to take a walk and I thought of you going walkabout into the wilderness for a breather...for DAYS I hope you managed with the eclipse and saw some of it AND that your day improved as the hours passed. Another crazy thought...read that you were grateful for the "Russian Sage" waving...and I wondered what he looked like NATURELOVER: You are lucky your eyesight is okay from the childhood eclipse watching. I am not sure I have ever seen one but have seen partial if not total ones in the past.

Good Afternoon, Dear Ones!
Daily Affirmation - It's all beautiful, it's all good Fitness report - walked 3.9 mi around the neighborhood, after the eclipse Health Goal - moderation, skip the junk Gratitude - seeing the eclipse w/my sweetie
Lisa - hope you had a wonderful happy anniversary! Sounds like a great way to have celebrated:)
Suzanne - sending a ray of sunshine 🌤your way...hang in there, it WILL get better!
About the eclipse... I'm a little N of Suzanne's area. We had clear skies yesterday until the "peak" (70%) coverage here, when some transient clouds rolled in. I had managed to snag a couple cheap $1 eclipse glasses at Walmart last week, 'though they were running low, I had to try a couple stores. The glasses worked fine for seeing the "bite" out of the sun, LOL, and I was able to take some photos (too many!) with my phone using the glasses as a filter. I was thrilled to see it at all...with my sweetie. Some friends of ours drove to Missouri to see totality, as a celebration of their anniversary! There will be a total eclipse over our area (NY state) in 2024, on my birthday! Possible I can celebrate that one...I'll be 74!!
....now hearing thunder...it was already sprinkling just as I was going out the door for a walk today, so I'm on the desk treadmill now.
Back later, be well! Carol

Greetings all! I did not have the special glasses (kicking myself now - everyone who had them reports being able to see it) so all I had to go on was what happened in the parking lot outside my office window. About 2:00 I noticed the skies darkening, as if it were going to rain. Starting a little after 2:30 it seemed that shadows were disappearing - then they did. It was not total darkness here, but very gray and no shadows cast; also, the temperature did drop and all the birds stopped making noise. I glanced up toward the sun from inside (office windows are very dirty and through screen so hopefully I won't go blind). All I peeped was a blurry white glow from the sun. After a minute or two, shadows began reappearing. Within 30 minutes the birds were back at it, and it was sunny and blazing hot again. Cathy how cool that bats and night bugs came out! Wow! People here who had the glasses say the sun looked like it had a bite taken out of it. Good exercise goals for you. Carol, be safe from storms and Michelle, be safe from fires. Suzanne, send me a thunderstorm! It is oppressively humid here today, the air feels like a wet blanket. Daily Affirmation - my resolve to attain my goals is not eclipsed. Fitness Report - Margaret for chest, shoulders, back, inner thighs; a slow flowing yoga practice with a lunar theme (after all - it is the moon that causes the eclipse). Health Goal - walk (done); workout tonight. Gratitude - while walking I was being thankful for my five senses. I can see all the beauty out there, smell the sweet wildflowers, feel the sun on me, the breeze, and the softness of Douglas fir boughs when I brush by them. Of course - I thank my sense of taste far too often. I think everyone at WW can relate to that. Waves to Lisa and anyone who joins us.

Good Day, everyone!
The eclipse, for us, was rather anti-climatic. I guess our cereal-box-viewers didn't work out so well. The clouds parted around 12:30-1PM and gave us a good, bright sky. We did see the "pacman" shape but the totality was no where near 70%. We tried the trick with the colander and that was pretty cool but I just don't think anything could compare to viewing directly. Now, I know. What was interesting is that by 1:30-2, I swear it seemed darker. Of course, it really was and it was all the changes in the shadows, as well, I am sure. The other thing of note, both DH and I felt "strange" (stranger than usual) afterward. I swear it must be the full moon.
Carol: I have 7 years to acquire my glasses. That will be an awesome way to spend your birthday! We are just outside of the path of totality so I'll have to head North a bit. I do intend to figure out a way to view that. Of course, being upstate NY-ers, we know how the weather can play such a significant role in our plans. At least you won't have to go anywhere.
After another morning of waking up and not really wanting to get out of bed (Winter-blues, already?), I decided I must resume exercising. So, I went to the Y (where I had not been since early-July) and rode the Expresso bike. (Carol, I'm doing the Vuelta Challenge). While at the gym, I saw my dance teacher (not seen her since beginning of July.) We hugged. She was happy to see me and know I was okay. I wish her classes weren't early-morning. Not my best time right now. Maybe with some exercise, I'll get up bright and early again soon.
Cathy: LOL! The question is...did I wave BACK to the Russian Sage. The day did improve, thank you. Altho, as I said above, I just felt odd. I like your idea of setting aside an hour daily to tackle the house chores AND getting your exercise at the same time. I could do the same. For a little while, I was setting a daily goal for decluttering (ten items at a time) but I fell off that wagon. Maybe I could add that back to my daily goal list. Love your daily emojis. Good job! Thank you for getting us going!
Pat: I'd like a photo of you with your tinfoil hat.
Lisa and Michelle: Hope you're keeping cool!
I see there is now a tornado WARNING for a couple counties to our West. We've done our best to batten down the outdoor area.
Daily Affirmation: I have the power to do anything. Fitness report: 4.4 miles thru Fruitdale (Expresso Biking trail) Health Goal: Recognize that movement/exercise is a critical part to my happiness. Spiritual Goal: 10 minutes of meditation Gratitude: For the Russian Sage outside my window, still waving. Perhaps, he's trying to tell me something.
Suzanne

Pat: We cross-posted. It is horribly-humid here as well. And lots of gusty-wind. Not sure how much rain will come thru and I'm hopeful the wind doesn't get worse or I'm afraid our Black Walnut tree is going to suffer serious damage (It is just filled with walnuts, weighing down the branches.)
I forgot to note yesterday whether there was any change (silence) in wildlife sounds. I recall that it was not a quiet day here (construction going on about 1/4 miles away).
