I am back from a Target run. We had a little incident on our morning walk when a sweet spaniel accompanying his owner to get the paper spotted Lily Belle and wanted to meet her. He was off leash. She made small sounds but jumped everywhere wanting to play while the spaniel just wanted to sniff her. In the meantime, I had to wait until the owner could pick up his dog or the dog would most likely follow us. It slowed my Thursday routine and I cut the walk short. I have cleaning people who come at 8:45 sometimes earlier on Thursday and we need to have breakfast done, dishes washed and ourselves, showered etc. before they come so I was hustling. At Target I just picked up odds and ends like a doormat, fabric softener sheets, pillow protectors, a quart of milk needed for muffins etc. Now I am home until the 3 p.m. WW lifetime members meeting. June, I love your reflections to start our day. I pulled out an Oprah Best Life Journal I have had for many years. It is a jumble of thoughts such as book reviews and how to plant irises but there is no reason why I cannot find a blank page to write my priorities for the year. I caught the last 15 minutes of Oprah on Oz but will look for it on line. Also I began reading her new book, which I will read cover to cover. What she says resonates with me. Bee, yay for the Healthy Eating Zone. www.communitymedical.org/services/Women-s-Health/Breast-Care This is where I had my mammogram and wished you could all have a similar experience. I was checked in at 9:30, taken to the room at 9:45 and ready to change by 10:15. This year I had 3 D imaging which takes a bit longer than 2D, which I had last year. Ann, congratulations on your loss. You are doing the right things. June, it took me 5 months to wear regular shoes but, oh, they felt so good. La Donna, that is such an amazing loss. You must feel so good. You react to snow the way we react to rain. We have a break now but are looking forward to more tomorrow and throughout the weekend. Susi, have you been to the Grand Canyon. It will take your breath away, truly one of nature's majesties and congrats on those good seats. DH and I are seeing Bonnie Raitt next Monday and Neil Diamond later in the spring. I hope we hear from Tammary. I am a mother hen and always look for who is missing. Let's have a fabulous day.

Where HAS the day gone?!?! Didn't help that I got up late again...
WHAT: The sun is coming and going today, which definitely helps my mood when it's out. But the kitchen's still calling...
HOW: I'm trying to break up the DayJob with many small Cinderella tasks - really inconsequential, couple-of-minutes stuff but I get to STAND UP and move around a bit.
I've watched a couple of Oprah interviews over the past few days, even a "cooking demonstration" for one of the recipes from her new cookbook. I'm glad that WW is working for her; I'm also glad that she acknowledged that her "rate of loss" may be slowed because of her food/beverage choices (as in, she could lose faster but she won't give up [name that food]). I hope she sticks with it, long-term.
Must get back to the Inbox. Hope you're having a WW-normal day!

I am beyond excited. DGF and I have front row center seats for Cirque du Soleil’s Ka next month in Las Vegas and I am taking a 14 hour bus tour of the Grand Canyon South Rim while I am there. Susi, I saw Cirque du Soleil's "O" front-row-center - an experience I will NEVER forget. Enjoy!!!

MJ - Keep moving. You can stick with your plan! Audrey - I am very pleased with the center I go to. My annual is next Tuesday and then I will make the appointment for my mammo. My mom died from complications from breast cancer so my sister and I never miss. I have never been to the Grand Canyon or Arizona so I am very excited. The only bad reviews were because of weather, which the company can't do anything about. I do like to gamble, with my head, not over it.

Hi girls and thanks for the site, Bee! Well, I'm happy to report that I was down .2 today at WW'ers. I'll take it and RUN with it LOL. The meeting was great, Susi. We got different materials that I haven't even opened yet. Sue (our leader) said there isn't any change in the point value of foods...it's mostly concentrated on getting your mind right to lose the weight and keep it off....all 'beyond the scale'.
We had several newbies joining...a few for the 1st time, which is always exciting.
Sue your trip sounds awesome! Enjoy!
June, one of the ladies wanted a step 'challenge' and threw it out to the group. Nobody accepted, and I felt bad, so I raised my hand and we'll be 'step buddies' for this week. She set a goal of 5,000 steps a day....that's doable! So, it should be fun, and will remind me to get moving!!!!
Speaking of moving, time for me to get a move on.
Hope everyone enjoys their day!

Today I'll track, move, and read through my new materials from Tuesday's meeting. I enjoyed Oprah's appearance on Late Show with Steven Colbert.
Have a great day and keep smiling!

Susi, please let me know your opinion. Audrey, can you please tell me what kind of kale y'all planted? Bee, we bought Tuscan kale plants from a local nursery. We were looking for curly leaf kale but this is better. We do some plants from seed but need to do kale from plants because we do not have a greenhouse. Tuscan is supposed to be the most flavorful. We order our spring seeds from Burpee, Territorial and Kitazawa catalogues.

I will need to watch it again as I was running it in the background here at work. I love how she said that this was not a diet, it was a food plan (although technically a food plan is a diet). I like how she said she had hoped to be at 50 lbs. but she wasn't giving up the bread, pasta, wine or tequila. That she is finally at peace with her body and does not need to reward or punish herself with food. And that she will be doing this for the rest of her life. She feels vibrant and healthy and she certainly looks it. And that covers basically the changes to the program this year. The mentality of it. Truly going beyond the scale to a life that works for you.

Ann- congrats on seeing a loss on every scale!! That is not easy! Yay you!
LaDonna-- Wildly clapping and cheering - for real- your milestone. Wow wow wow-- that is a wonderful accomplishment. KOKO-- persistence works! Over the moon for you! Thx for giving us a chance to celebrate w/ you.
Pam- hi! Nice to see you. Thx for sharing your meeting experience. Can't wait to get my new materials.
Susi-- you will love, love, love the Grand Canyon. It offers a spectacular vista that changes from different viewing points and the sun's position. R & I have visited there twice and have some great stories-- about hippies, flying squirrels, unimaginable stars, and Staged snowfall photo op. Vegas is fun too. We enjoyed the Star Trek Experience at the Tropicana? and the Arthurian tournament at Excalibur. Exciting to have a big trip to anticipate. How are you feeling?
Mj-- those little breaks sound like they could be great ways to lower the stress of your day job. Mj, what she said resonated w/ me, too. She was down to earth and real. I also appreciated what she said about wanting to reach 50 lbs off, but realizing that she had not been willing to do want was needed. She genuinely seemed content w/ herself and what she was doing. In the future, I definitely would listen to her phone calls.

Audrey-thanks for the link. Whew-- glad that your dog walk didn't end in a dog fight. Sorry that you had to cut it short though. Yes, I was wondering about Tammary too. Maybe she isn't traveling since she and her husband both are academics. Seemed like almost every obvious tourist with whom I chatted w/ in Fla. was a teacher! Ha ha ha... thought of you when I was grocery shopping today. I wondered what delcious sounding recipe you were making for dinner.
Ha ha ha. LADonna & Audrey-- I have been places like Phoenix in July where rain was a happy event. We are experiencing a gently falling snow. Quite lovely
