We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

Linda, I so agree with your statement from last night about JA's being totally unhinged. How long are Rs going to allow their party to be run by a mad man? I watched only a small portion of his rally last night. That's simply all I could bear, but I bet you that a great many Rs who are out there saying "Oh, just give him a chance . . ." didn't even bother to watch as much of it as I did. They just want to turn a blind eye and pretend his mental illness doesn't exist when CLEARLY it does for all the world to see. He was on a ranting rampage. If this had been the first time, perhaps one could make excuses for him and say "Oh, he's just had a very bad day, etc., etc." The problem is this is not the first time, and it won't be the last time. It is EVERY time the man speaks unless he is reading from a teleprompter a carefully crafted speech by someone else. The man is sick! Truly sick! He needs psychological help before he destroys the entire country. I can't imagine how anyone could have watched that performance last night and not recognize that.

"In a fit of pique he decides to do something about Kim Jong Un, there's actually very little to stop him," Clapper said. "The whole system is built to ensure rapid response if necessary. So there's very little in the way of controls over exercising a nuclear option, which is pretty damn scary." -- James Clapper [(Director of National Intelligence (2010–2017), Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (1991–1995)]
Makes you want to hide under the bed, doesn't it? This is a nightmare, and Rs better wake up and do something about it before it's too late for us all.

I made myself sit thru JA entire tirade. What a train wreck he has become. He slurred some words. He couldn't even pronounce Franklin Graham's last name . Not once but twice. Don Lemmon said it best after JA speech. If you can find a clip of his thoughts on the Rally, well worth it. I mean this is beyond ridiculous. As James Clapper said, " pretty damned Scary!" ...what bothered me more than his words, which are so predictable anymore, was the crowd sitting behind him & watching their expressions & reactions. OMG, who are these people!!!!!.... I'm so tired of Congress coming out & condeming JA but then doing nothing. One can only talk it to death so long before we are in a real crisis where there is no turning back. It will be interesting who will be the one to finally get JA out of office. Who has the guts to finally say enough already!... UGH.

Too clever by half. As if the rest of us didn't notice he omitted the most egregious parts of the original offending tweet. Watching in real time the attempt to manipulate their thinking and rewriting history was sickening.

And as Linda mentioned, seeing the way the people behind him were swallowing everything he said and begging for more even when what he said was provably false made me feel like I was caught in an episode of The Stepford Wives. Seemingly those people were incapable of thinking for themselves. Scary indeed!

I don't think mentally illness is his only problem. I think he's evil. I believe he's an evil man. A human monster. We all know they're out there. People that do unspeakable and unimaginable things to others and enjoy it. The news, movies, books, and tv shows are full of their stories.
There are treatments/cures for illness but only if the sick person believes he is truly ill and seeks help. However, there is no cure for evil. No pill to swallow or treatment given to turn an evil person into a good one. Besides, this evil monster thinks he's the greatest thing on Earth. In his evil mind anybody that questions him or disagrees with him or challenges him or simply asks him to think things through, are evil people out to destroy him.
He's also pathetic. He needs constant stroking, adoration, and praise. His base, those that are either evil themselves, or adamantly refuse to see it in him, or believe God choose him for the job, are happy to cheer him on. Even though he'd throw them under the bus in a NY minute.
As long as Congress convinces themselves with half ass excuses such as he's new to this, he's ill, give him time, he's trying, he's not all bad, cut him some slack, he'll grow into it, he really is a nice guy that wears his heart on his sleeve, they will NEVER acknowledge how evil he truly is. Which, imho, makes them just as evil as he is and all of us could suffer greatly because of this foolish behavior.
The Truth will set you free but first it will make you miserable. We are miserable already.
"Uncle!"

I think you may have just hit the nail on the head, Pat. I, too think he enjoys pitting people against each other. He has no moral compass what so ever. He's just an empty piece of flesh IMHO.

A friend I grew up with who still lives in my hometown is a JA supporter. She's not a sophisticated person by any means, she's never lived anywhere other than that little town we grew up in and never really traveled, but she's a nice person. After her husband died she raised two children by herself, she's one of those people we consider the bedrock of our society. Yet she's a strong JA supporter. I was really saddened to just read a post on FB from her saying how much she supported JA, what a good speech she thought he gave last night, and how she is "proud of him." How can this be? I understand having different political views, even drastically different views from those I hold. I do not understand how anyone can not realize how dangerous this man is, and it really shakes me to my core when that person is someone I know who would be considered a solid, upstanding citizen. That's the scariest thing of all. JA is scary, but his devoted followers are much more so.

I hear you Joyce. The friend I visit with each Saturday morning on the phone, supports JA too. We just agreed not to discuss politics & neither she nor I post political stuff on FB. This friend is deeply religious as well. So, I always wonder how they square their religious beliefs with JA & all that he is. I think, it's more ' I hate the Democrats/Liberals" than any real belief in JA & what he stand for. So many on the other side truely believe all Democrats are godless people. I never can rationalize why they think that. They tout the Constitution but still want God & their beliefs in the schools when clearly there is seperation of Church & State as it should be. It just all befuddles me to no end....I'm so happy God made me a Democrat...😉

Maybe the problem is we are judging the Trump base by our standards and they just don't know better? They will follow any circus that comes to town. The longer he is in office the more dangerous he becomes.
I swear if Trump could build a Coliseum he would sit there like Nero and watch people he pitted against each other fight to the death and then bring on the dancing girls.
Linda honey, don't you mean the Goddess made you a Democrat? (and your own good sense)
