We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

"In his first seven months as president, Trump has done nothing for American workers. In fact, his attempt to undermine the Affordable Care Act, his retreat from Labor Department regulations boosting overtime pay, and his proposed tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations will make most workers worse off. But he is in office because of their anger and distrust, and he’s still feeding off it. “The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country,” Trump said in his inaugural address. “Their victories have not been your victories; their triumphs have not been your triumphs.” Tragically, Trump was right. Now all of us are paying the price."-- Robert Reich in Newsweek For the entire article: www.newsweek.com/robert-reich-labor-tragically-trump-was-right-655887

I listened to part of an interview with Eric Trump ( I couldn't handle more than a few minutes:-( ...boy, is this entire family in denial. The entitlement they feel just reeks off them & the whole world is just against his Dad & everything he does, so, he has to take it all with a grain of salt & tune it out otherwise his Dad would probably commit suicide. I kid you not! Everyone is corrupt except his Dad & their family yada yada yada....GAG BARF!
I see Ivanka backed off her equal pay for women stance. Not surprised...say what Daddy want you to say to get elected & then change mind. When will those hard core supporters finally understand this whole family stands for NOTHING.

Dan Rather........
Jorge Perez - confirmed dead. Yahir Vizueth - confirmed dead. Benjamin Vizueth - missing. Gustavo Rodriguez-Hernandez - missing. Please pause to read the names above. The stories stories of heroism and tragedy in the wake of Hurricane Harvey have hit me hard and this one struck me with a particular poignancy. The four men listed above took it upon themselves to rescue families in distress. After two missions, they headed out again and their boat drifted into a downed power line, electrocuting them and sending them into the swirling currents. Two of them were brothers, a third brother survived as did two journalists on board documenting these acts of quiet heroism. These men were fathers and husbands. Their loss leaves holes in many lives. In our current fractured climate, there are some who would look at their ethnicity, their last names, the fact that they spoke Spanish and say they are not one of us, not part of our nation. But in a time of need no one asked for their papers.

When will those hard core supporters finally understand this whole family stands for NOTHING. I don't think they want to understand, Linda. If they do they have to admit how foolish they have been in falling for his carnival act. You're absolutely right about the entitlement the entire family feels. They think we should all just bow down like serfs and do their bidding. Not a single one of them has any interest in the country whatsoever. The entire country is just a means to an end for them. They all, every single member of the family except for Barron, make me sick. Barron gets a pass because he's a kid. I feel sorry for him actually, because he has no one to look up to. Certainly he has no one to be a role model for him. He can't help that he was born into this dysfunctional, soap opera.

But in a time of need no one asked for their papers. These brave men and all the many, many others who are volunteering and risking their own lives to help those in need deserve all our respect and praise. They put that unspeakable ____ in the WH to shame, and he doesn't even have the ability to recognize it.

When you are drowning do you really ask to see someone's citizenship papers or say never mind saving me you are too tan or brown, I'll wait for the next guy? Just so sad, put things out into the universe and karma will get you eventually.

Reading a very good book: The Founding Brothers. They were battling back then. Washington was not well liked as a President. In order to get the Republic going they kicked the subject of slavery down the road for later generations to solve. Lots of really good insight.
I guess Obama being criticized was not so very unique. Every President went through it. But every President wanted to keep the country together. Not so with 45, he is pulling it apart and selling it and all his carp (hats and what ever) to the highest bidder.

Just looked at the weather, and a fine broth of a woman Erma is....up to a cat 3 already. Lord help the southern states if they get zapped again.
We've topped off both cars and locked in fuel price for the season though oil is in pretty good supply world wide.

Well, it will be interesting to see how JA responds on Saturday after he watched Pence speak, hug, shake hands & carry tree branches today. I can't imagine he will want to be outshined by Pence...

Pence wants to worm his way into the hearts of the people he will be leading when he becomes 46.
Really Linda I would love to see DJ do a little really productive work. A little sweat off the brow would be good for him.
