Michelle, I meant to ask you, with increased rain do you get a much more colorful desert bloom? If so, when is the best time to come and see it?
Carol, how nice you could go on a cash-free outing! That's always fun, right?
Anetta, I did share the zenhabits with my niece, but haven't gotten any response. All I can do is put it out there, right? I've got a list of habits to change going. I keep thinking of more things! My first habit to tackle is prioritizing my 'to do' list and sticking to it. I have already learned I am unrealistic in how many things I can accomplish in a day. I found this statement from the website very interesting, too:
When you bring mindfulness to a task, it transforms your relationship to that activity from something you’re trying to get off your plate and something that adds value to your day.
Pat, way to go! Your efforts are paying off. What a great feeling!
Suzanne, did you start your seed order? What's on the garden agenda this season?

Good morning from beautiful southeastern CT. We had snow this morning, not too much and it has stopped and the sun is out, glinting off the snow covered trees. It's positively gorgeous.
I was driving past a wooded area on the way to work while it was still snowing. A large flock of geese flew by me, I rolled down the window to hear their honking. All I can think about is how amazing must that feel, to be flying through the gently falling snow?
Thank you for starting us Lisa. You are so right, all you can do it put the info out there. You can't make loved ones accept it, even when you know in your heart it will help. I'm going through it with my sister who has obvious symptoms of late-stage, neglected Celiac disease, but she refuses to stop living on miniscule amounts of baked goods. At this point processed pastries and candy are her primary food group, with a scant few bites of meat and potato. Sigh.
Carol and everyone, I am glad the 8 minute meditation was enjoyable.
Michelle, I love Pilates. I used to take a small group class that started on mat and ended on reformer, but when the recession hit I had to give it up. I still keep a regular home practice, but not as vigorous as a class. With all the focus now on PT and therapeutic Pilates, I am now missing my daily yoga practice!
A very happy to Anetta and Suzanne. ♥
Daily Affirmation - I fly like a not-silly goose, in perfect formation, intent on my goals and assertively honking my intentions!
Fitness Report - over 1.5 hours at M.O.G. with mat Pilates and strengthening using balls, barre and bands; restorative yoga stretches.
Health Goal - do my best to enjoy a yoga practice tonight.
Gratitude - the magical moment of experiencing the geese this morning.

Pat, 1.5 hours of PT??? Yowza! No wonder you're clothes are loose! Are you past soreness?
I'm trying a new routine today. I have 16 more rose squares to sew, and it really helps to wear surgical gloves to sew them because I'm sewing freeform and need to push the fabric around as if I'm drawing with the machine. Those gloves make my hands sweat, so in between each completed rose, which takes about 10 min I'm either exercising for a song or two, or doing one of my daily tasks. I have so much energy from all the little active breaks!!

Good morning and happy Friday, Angel friends! Lisa, thanks for today's start and your new "Hope" avatar! Yes, Lisa, you've offered a tool and now it's up to your niece to put it to good use. Hopefully, she will make a choice that is in her best interest. That quote is right on -- one of the techniques from the web site I use is to write down daily one Most Important Task (MIT). I don't know about you, but my biggest challenging with accomplishing multiple tasks is deciding what is most important. At the very least, I can check off one task that will allow me a sense of accomplishment each day. Most days, though, it gets the flow going and I get a lot more done. I saw that you're using surgical gloves for your quilting. I thought to mention what I use, gloves called Machingers (brand is Quilter's Touch) that are specially designed for quilting, crafting, and sewing. They have soft, flexible fingertip grips, are made of breathable fabric, and provide excellent hand and wrist support (directly from the package!). You could probably find the at a local craft store, on Amazon, or on their web site, www.QuiltersTouch.com. They are a godsend! Pat, those geese must have been an awesome sight and I love how they inspired your affirmation for today! Woweeee, you got in some good PT yesterday! Greetings and good thoughts to Suzanne, Michelle, and Carol! I'm celebrating a week of post-holiday progress with healthier food choices and a bit of downward movement on the scale. Today's plan is to switch up activity and do a short Zumba workout. As much as I have enjoyed my routine of morning walks, I do feel like it's time to get back to other types of activity as well. Daily Affirmation - I am happiest when I am active and moving. Fitness Goal - Zumba, Zumba! And a walk with the dogs. Health Goal - Plan and track, drink water. Gratitude - The willingness to try something new yesterday by creating a calendar on Shutterfly using photos I've taken over the past year. Fun!

Lisa I can't get past the soreness! The second he sees I've made a strength gain he has me move the next level up. He's brutal! What a great idea to use gloves while doing your project.
Anetta good for you on making healthier post-holiday nutritional choices and congratulations on your downward facing scale.
Speaking of my sister, I just had an email that she has been home sick since Christmas with GI upset. My niece and I both have tried talking to her about quitting the gluten. Here she is in obvious, painful throes of Celiac and still denying it. It seems to be as powerful an addiction as any drug or drink with her.

Pat, Just loved! your affirmation. I wanted to experience how it felt to be a bird so I went hang gliding to check it out. It is way more kool than imaginable. Anyway couldn't take up hang gliding as I cannot tell my right from my left sometimes which will definitely not work. This was an instructor assisted thing. Went out over the ocean swooping and diving on and on. Just so great!!!!
Anetta and Lisa, Why are you wearing gloves to quilt?
Lisa, It depends on the elevation as to when the wildflowers bloom along with the amount of rain/snow. Check out Furnace Creek Inn--I think you might like that.

Greetings, dear Angels: Just got back from the store, trying to fill the pantry with "low FODMAP" foods (for the IBS). Oy! DH and I have decided to try Carb Cycling (Chris Powell and my trainer-recommended). Between the foods recommended for the Carb-Cycling plan, Low Fodmap, AND keeping in mind my success with the WW plan, I'm not sure what will be left to eat. But, I'll figure it out. Just have to find foods that are acceptable on all lists. Lisa: Muchos gracias for the start-up today. I haven't ordered any seeds yet. But, I am getting together with my growing-partner (DM) this weekend. I'll keep posted. Just the thought makes me happy. The grocery store was putting out potted Gerbera daisies - one of my favorites. Oh - they were so pretty. And I was so tempted! But the price was outrageous. Pat, you mentioned how amazing it must that feel to be flying (geese). Wouldn't it be awesome to be able to just flap our arms and fly. What freedom! Michelle: How cool that you tried hanggliding. Its one of those things I've thought about but am not sure I'd do. I'd love the feeling of flying but I do have a fear of heights and I'm not sure how well that would work. Now, I've got that thought in my head, I'm intrigued. I once got as far taking my first flying-lesson (in a plane). I really had it in my mind that I wanted to get my license, but the first lesson was enough to convince me otherwise. Anetta: I'm in the same boat you are. Taking this week to regroup and get back on plan. I've done really well getting to the gym, which has me very satisfied (with my progress and motivation). Waves to Carol and Pam. Daily Affirmation: Instead of being discouraged by how far I still have left to go, I choose to be grateful for how far I’ve already come. Fitness report: A great gym workout: cycling, strength-training and stretching. Health Goal: To do everything in my power to heal my IBS. Gratitude: Its Friday. Almost the weekend! Yeah!

Susanne, I love that you have a growing partner! How cool!
Michelle, your gliding experience sounds harry! My dad was a glider pilot, and each time I went up with him, although it was a beautiful view I was quite scared. The last time I ever went with him was when there was a bee in that tiny plane, and I was freaking out, and my dad was so calm and said, 'Oh just ignore it!" Well, I couldn't and almost had a panic attack. I'm good on the ground, and riding things that I have control over. And the reason we wear gloves is to guide fabric.
Pat, that is so sad about your sister!!!!! You lead such a great example of living a healthy lifestyle, I cannot believe she doesn't ask for your help and advice! Oh, and BTW, food addiction is right up there with heroin. For real, so I do get it. Especially carbs and sugar.
