No snow here, Judy, and I think you have Friday's and Saturday's dates wrong. Today is the 6th; tomorrow (Saturday) is the 7th...

It was 19 here this morning and that is very cold for Houston. The rain from yesterday has moved east so the roads are dry. We'll have a repeat tomorrow morning and then it will warm up to the 70s. This is the coldest temps we've had in 3 years!
Good luck to all of you getting snow and ice this weekend.

No snow at my house, but lots of rain predicted through Thursday. It's predicted to be the biggest storm in 5 years. I live in central CA close to several national parks. Roads into the parks have been closed in anticipation of the weather, but the weather map indicates to me that the parks will be getting rain, not snow. We need for it to snow in the mountains to give us the water runoff we need during the summer months when it doesn't rain at all here. Closer to home we're concerned about gutters on the house we just moved into. We're new to gutters, have seen a couple of problems, and the gutter guy can't get to them for a week or two. I imagine he's busy as we're having more rain than usual so there are probably many gutters around town showing their leaks right now.
To return to food issues--this is the sort of weather that makes me want to curl up with a book or in front of a Netflix binge and eat comfort food. I think I'll prepare a big bowl of raw vegetables 🥒 to munch on.
Stay warm and dry everyone!

Yes, I had a problem with dates some days this week.
The snow has started and we'll see how much we get. No wind so it isn't stormy but I'm sure it is slippery out. Tomorrow I will be getting my exercise by shoveling.
I like having the weather reports from the different parts of the country.

I was wondering about the dates - I thought maybe you were operating in a different country/time zone.

I am also on the West Coast - five miles inland from Santa Cruz to be exact. Mr. Lani has been going mad preparing for the big rainstorm. We have a basement which has flooded in the past. Don't think it will every happen again due to improved storm drains and much drainage work on our property. I lived in Minnesota for many years as a child, so I remember *real* winter weather. My brother lives in Minneapolis, so I pay attention to their weather.

There is heavy snow in the Sierras but we are getting rain below in the San Joaquin Valley. Most of Yosemite is closed except for roads allowing snow plows and park workers to be there. www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/wroads.htm One of our WW who posts on the FB group sends me the updates. He volunteers for emergency services with the Red Cross.

Roz: I just got my dates confused and didn't bother to look at the planner by the computer. But I am sometimes on another planet.
SurfGirl: It is a good day to snug in. Husband might go out to run an errand which I don't think is a good idea but he doesn't like to let snow scare him, although he will turn around if it is too slippery.
Audrey: That's Joe isn't it. He was a nice addition to the thread when we were on the website.

Another planet would definitely be a different time zone.

Roz Actually I have trouble sleeping and to manage it I imagine my place in the universe. This started a couple of decades ago when we first looked at pictures of the earth from weather satellites. The fun part is I remind myself that I'm on the dark side of the earth and then imagine the other side of the earth in the sunshine. I visualize me and the earth rotating back towards the sun. Takes my mind off of my busy thoughts with imagery and the mental work I do to figure this all out. Occasionally I think about how small I really am in this whole big universe.
